administration constantly is an appeasement for strategy. what you have to have is a strong strategy. i think since october of two st7 durban 75 attacks by iranian based proxies on our soldiers. not just the houthis attacks this adds to them we have had very little response back. with that is what we have to change. arthel: lucas tomlinson alive at the white house with the legs on the top stories. what are we hearing now at 4:00 o'clock eastern time? >> the pentagon says this was a complex attack using drones and missiles filed by the iranian backed forces inside yemen. officials say what are they commercial ships that was struck was in danger of sinking. another did not suffer significant damage great answering distress calls as you mentioned the uss carney a missile destroyer shot down two of the drones the commanding officer said they were traveling in his direction. the attack took place over five hours earlier today in the southern red sea near the

1:06 pm
that would get iran's attention and keep those on the shelf. the region is becoming a houthis shooting gallery as you correctly pointed out. the uss carney has been shooting back. what's new in this report is this is a multi- ship multi- weapon attack. we do not want to see escalation from their that would saturate defense capabilities. so time to think about preparing some options. eric: what type of options will be feasible in the situation? >> the number one thing of course is to continue to have strong defense of all our forces. the carney is very, very capable there shooting back more than anyone over there. we need to of course have the defenses we have for our forces that are in iraq, syria, other places where t were the other ik militias are attacking. so, if it is possible to do what has been done like with the f-15 and f-16 who found iran weapons
1:07 pm
in syria to develop the actionable intelligence directly on houthis missile placements or militias that are moving weapons around and to do a strike that's directly rating is the kind of option central command is probably already thinking about to prepare for the president if need be. eric: why can't we launch preemptive attacks on the stuff? >> oh my goodness. it is hard to sit here and watch iran's malicious ligh lineup the shots they want. all the way from down there in the straight and the red sea all the way up through to our garrison forces in syria it's a vvery, very hard to watch. most of but we don't want to see is this escalate. but i am tired of hearing about our troops under attack. i am tired of hearing about our ship being so close. remember the carney as they are trying to get shipping lane open and to make sure they commercial

shipping can go through. so what is happening with the houthis is really, really wrong i would love to see them do that. the carney was little preemptive and correctly taking out the drones. if they come within 10 miles they are allowed to shoot them down. that's very, very effective. the carney's do is doing an exct job right now. eric: you talk of a keep the shipping lanes open. but the iranian tanker war sets when iran was attacking the tankers of. to keep the lanes open back then it president ronald reagan took decisive and strong action. he reflected tankers as u.s. tankers. when a hole was blown through of the ships, the reagan administration president reagan check out half the iranian navy. why don't we do something like that now? do you think that happens if we are hit? >> is a very strong policy responses. a member of the carney are doing some of that now.
1:09 pm
the threat has changed. it's the drones, and of course the crews missiles going over towards israel so carney and others are helping with that piece of it right now. we also, back in the 80s conducted a strike on some iranian oil platforms. it is an option if this continues to see legitimate iranian infrastructure or military targets. or their proxy militia targets hit. and i am telling you it's something the pentagon and central command and the white house have to be thinking about at this point. developing some options. eric: doctor rebecca grant, fox news contributor always good to see you thank you. thank you. if i've idf forces continuing they're all out assault on the gaza strip after the week long cease-fire that led to the release of over 100 israeli

again. eric: he's the leader of the conservative freedom party in the netherlands after his party stunning election victory last month. his long warned of the dangers of radical islamic terrorism and the flow of immigrants to western europe. he ran on a platform that included calling for a ban on refugees. my current crisis they are sparking not only a backlash but elsewhere throughout europe. last month of riots and unrest broke out in dublin, ireland after a stabbing attack wounded three young children. the assailant rumored to be in islamic immigrants the reports now say that suspect is that naturalized irish citizen you happen to be born in algeria. but anti- immigration politicians haven't scoring victories in sweden, italy, spain legislation also introduced in france. former foreign policy advisor under british prime minister margaret thatcher currently director of the heritage foundation margaret thatcher center for freedom. it's good to see you.

what is the genesis of the pushback and the wind? do you expect this will expand throughout europe as they have seen the influx? >> great to see you eric, thanks so much helping today. and as you point out the netherlands have seen a political earthquake with the election victory and the freedom party who won nearly a quarter of the vote doubling all expectations i think in terms of their overall support. i think this is sending shockwaves across europe. the key reason for his success in the netherlands is the huge level of migration into the netherlands which i think is a common feature of many western european countries today. mass migration including a large number of asylum-seekers really was the key critical issue in the dutch elections also significantly i think the e campaign on issues such as

combating soaring levels of crime. also he called for support for a referendum in the netherlands on eu membership and so it there ia strong year old skeptic approach to his campaign but without a doubt the issue of immigration, mass migration, fears over high levels of crime as well really dominated the dutch elections and i think has become the number one issue all over western europe at this time. >> critics have condemned in the past they called him xena phobic and has been indicted on charges of incitement it was overturned he has been a controversial figure. do you think he and others in europe have struck a core over the type of migration they saw especially from the middle east and the war in syria? >> they have it. this year alone i think a million people have sought

asylum in the european union. there is a staggeringly high figure of the highest since 201. especially there are fears over the large numbers of islamists who are entering into it europe. this is a huge issue. and as we are seeing right now of the protest on t london and many european cities there is a huge number of militants coming out and supporting hamas and other alarmist movements. this is causing great concern. the will of the campaign goes to the heart of the issue. fears over mass migration special from the middle east and north africa largely islamic migration into europe. and fears really of a cultural invasion. it's the same fears you see not only in the netherlands but also it france, germany, spain,
1:26 pm
italy, sweden. so if every major western european country the issue of mass migration especially from the islamic world is now the number one political issue. eric: some say it helps the labor market and it helps the economy but you see a cultural impact in a way they could change the actual character of some of those nations? we saw the mass protests for example in london. and those concerns by some you think they are warranted they are seeing a change they did not actually expect. >> yes. i think the fears and concerns are warranted. especially when you see the scenes of huge numbers of islamist militants taking to the streets of european cities basically supporting hamas. and in london for example many british jews are afraid to go into central london when these are held the deeply anti-semitic
1:27 pm
nature of these protest the fears are very genuine. crime is rising across europe. much of it driven actually by high levels of migration into europe. i'm so these fears and concerns are very, very real. this is backlash against the ruling liberal elites you have seen in many european countries have brought in large numbers of migrants. there is a fundamental rejection of that approach today and practically every single european country. european public is the same they have had enough of mass migration there really said in a clear message to the european ruling elites that enough is enough. eric: finally in sweden for example a rising crime rate as you just said they say it is because of the migrants quote failure to integrate. what should or could european officials do about the crime and the situation? what do they think margaret thatcher would have done? >> great questions you mentioned
1:28 pm
sweden were levels of violent crime comic gang crime has aptly soared in the last few years overwhelmingly driven by migrant gangs in sweden. what needs to be done? basically a crackdown of illegal migration into europe also reducing the over number of legal migration i think margaret thatcher would have fought back very, very strongly against these large waves of migration into europe. she would have secured and certainly britain's border she would've called on european leaders to secure their borders and she would've called for an end to massive migration which is proving to be very, very destructive the whole ideology of multirole cultural wisdom has been a big failure in europe is made very, very clear. and so there is a huge reaction across europe again so we have seen in recent years with mass migration but this is just the beginning. i think you're going to see conservative parties across
