>> steve: good morning, everybody, it's thursday, december 14th, 2023. we start this 6:00 hour with a fox news alert. the house of representatives yesterday voted to formaize an impeachment inquiry into the current president, joe biden. >> brian: president biden is now one of six presidents in u.s. history to face an impeachment inquiry in the house. >> lawrence: now his son hunter could be held in contempt of congress for skipping a closed door deposition on capitol hill yesterday. >> that's right. brooke singman is here with the latest. good morning. >> good morning. this is a huge step for house republicans who argue that a formal inquiry is the only way to get the white house to actually comply with their investigation. they are accusing president biden of influence peddling during his time as vice president. and they say they are collecting evidence that shows he was involved in his son's foreign business dealings. but, president biden is writing the whole thing off saying instead of doing anything to help make american lives better. they are focused on attacking me

hunter's team has already had a busy year. they are fighting nine federal tax charges in california while they work to dismiss those federal gun charges down in impair. guys? >> steve: brooke, yesterday at this time we didn't know whether hunter biden would show up. and then we got word -- i'm sure you at fox news digital got word as well he is going to show up. did anybody know it was going to be a press conference outside or did we think he was going to go inside the building? >> i actually had heard that he was not going to show up, and that he actually was going it hold this press conference, which republicans said was going to be a proximate result stunt he would get out there and make his statements. he offered to testify publicly. answer all of your legitimate questions. he basically said i'm defying the subpoena, your investigation is illegitimate and i'm not participating. but comer and jordan and all republicans that are leading this investigation said, you know, every other witness that we called here, that we subpoenaed has come to testify, has come for these transcribed interviews.

comer and jordan said they would release those transcripts of those interviews, which they have done, and i believe they probably would have released the deposition transcript of hunter's. but, you know, that wasn't enough for the president's son. and, you know, we will see what happens here now that impeachment inquiry is actually formalized. >> steve: it was quite a switch radio. >> brian: if they give us better heads up we would have had better audio. you they seem pretty confident show up. they asked him to commodities 7th he has not come, the house oversight committee is in negotiations with his attorneys to schedule a deposition. now, i mean like republicans had v. been staying, once this impeachment inquiry was formalized. then they now have more power behind these existing subpoenas. they can go to court and actually try to get these subpoenas enforced. because now the whole house has voted to formalize the inquiry. we will see what republicans do, who they call, who they actually have able to bring in for these interviews, document requests.

perhaps all women being held in palestinian prisons -- in israelis prisons would be released as would some of the men. yet, there has been no response from hamas as you said there are 135 hostages left. 115, we believe, are alive. 8 of those are americans. the world is looking to have those released. this is what started this war was the attack and the kidnapping, all these people. and this is what will continue to bring it to an end soon. still no response from hamas on this frankly some anger of the families hostages as well saying more needs to be done to get them back. frankly, hamas not responding. >> steve: right it. looked like there were going to be more women and children released. but then there was some suggestion that they pulled the list because they were worried the suggestion was, what those women would say about how they had been treated and mistreated by hamas and there could have been world outcry and instead they just pulled the plug on all the hostages being released.

did he help himself and his dad yesterday. those who say there is no correlation between joe and hunter, what does andy mccarthy say? >> i have always thought that the way to approach this, as i would -- as a prosecutor, you know, in comparison to how congress has done it, and i must say, as a preface here, i think the investigators in the house have done a very good job. senator grassley and senator johnson did great work as the foundation of this. but i think the way to look at this is that the business is joe biden. and it doesn't make sense to me to keep saying it's hunter's business. now we have to go through every thread to figure out what joe may have known about it or how he moved it up the field or how he abetted it. the business is joe biden. his political influence is what the business is. and the way the government works, this business would not have gone on for five minutes unless he woefully abetted it. the way to look at this is that
