improvised devices on the meteorologist side of the u.s.-meteorologist border. because of that, u.s. border patrol is warning agents to be on the lookout for devices. federal law enforcement source shared officer safety alert that went out to cbp agents warning them to be alert. agents should exercise extreme kaugsz and report any possible armed subjects approaching the border with possible explosive devices. this incident happened on wednesday, a gun fight east of the port of entry in pima county, arizona. a person was loaded with a ak rifle, loose rounds and a handgun. he said there were 11 armed

agents nearby. the mexican military responded and found 10 explosive devices filled with black powder and shrapnel. law enforcement says this ramp has a gap in the border fence used to funnel drugs through, now a magnet to push people through. this gun fight was a gang war fighting for control over this gap in the fence. the gap is a spot in the border wall never completed. it is dangerous for law enforcement officers and agents on the border and how lucrative the business is for the cartel, how far they are willing to go to fight for control over small gaps in the fence they can push paying customers through. back to you. >> steve: this is a big story.

hilary, for years we've been talking about people on the terror watch list who are apprehended at the southern border. on the southern side of the southern border, you have bombs essentially. your sources and fox's sources are saying it is more cartels killing each other than sneaking into the united states, right? >> right, this was not a migrant carrying an ied across the border, this was a turf war amongst their own people and the mexican military obtained the ieds. it is a concern but not a situation where it was coming across the border and the person the border patrol apprehended surrendered to border patrol because they didn't want to deal with anything on the other side

coming here into the u.s. >> steve: we've had about gun fights and them throwing bombs at each other. >> as far as we know, the ieds were not used in this, they were this tact when the mexican military obtained them, of course that was on the mexican side. the environment is growing increasingly dangerous for border patrol working along the border there. >> ainsley: you think ieds, you think middle east and you don't think on our border. you think the cartel is dangerous, but not that they would have devices. pretty scary. >> todd: thanks, appreciate it. lawrence, think how the narrative has changed. donald trump, build a wall. walls don't work. sanctuary city, how dare you, where is your heart? now major cities want to revisit

sanctuary cities and people are saying follow the gaps in the wall. it stopped when the president stopped. tell me who doesn't want to fill in the gaps right now? >> lawrence: it doesn't make any sense, remember the cartel will do anything to protect their enterprise and they have three sources, human trafficking, they have drugs and they have the people that they escort across the border, that is their enterprise. how do the american people think about it? i'll ask my friends in florida. talking border, what do you think is happening at the southern border and how is it impacting our country? >> it is very scary, we don't know who is coming, we don't know their agenda. it is not sustainable. there is a right way to come to our country and we've taken our eye off other issues, like our

asylum, asylum process need to change, we have a pact with canada and mexico, united states is only one that doesn't enforce that. you have to claim asylum, stem the flow by 70%. individuals are from other countries other than mexico. have true enforcement. if we apprehend someone, send them back and process them right now. >> brian: send them back? >> yes. >> brian: fly them back. >> yes. they get a piece of paper and they're in the united states four to eight years while awaiting court case. we have to have border personnel, right now within an hour, they go on shift, they are out of service because they apprehend so many, we don't have enough people on the border to secure it. >> brian: that is what you want,
