polls are giving us a closer look at the 2024 election. the gop nomination, former president donald trump growing his lead among republican primary voters jumping 7% since last month. while all other candidates saw slight decreases in support. >> that is staggering. these are brand-new. the choice among registered voters for president if they were voting now sees trump and hailly meeting in the potential matchup. voters saying the top two issues facing the country are the economy and border security. border security jumping 8 points over the last four months which have been filled with record breaking days at our southern border. rachel: the same polls are revealing nearly half of registered voters view the impeachment inquiry against president biden as, quote, legitimate. despite, that president biden's approval rating actually rose

slightly compared to last month. >> so those polls which again are brand-new this morning tell quite a story. they tell a story of this election tilting heavily in favor of donald trump. >> heavily. 69%, i don't know if we can put that top line poll number back up. again, these numbers just came n we're reading them as you are too. a 7% jump from last month for donald trump, up to almost 70%, everyone else goes down. rachel: yeah. it's -- >> like we should go back and look at previous moments in primaries, if we've ever seen before anyone's cast a vote a primary where the candidate leading is at 70%. rachel: we saw the poll numbers literally a minute before we came on to the segment here out of the commercial break and i said to you, i feel better about my last podcast title which was the primary's over.

and thats was the title of the podcast. and it just looks like no matter what they throw at donald trump, no matter what they do, no matter how many charge hs they throw against him, no matter how much the press is against him, he comes out fighting. fighting and winning is what people are responding to at least on the republican side. >> you look at the numbers, the economy being the top issue. look at what the you economy was like under a businessman and immigration too. that's why you're hearing rumors that the white house is willing to -- >> well, i don't know if you have further detail. >> go ahead. >> when we flashed this up the first time, i was surprised, and it made me think about the polls and what about guns, though. >> it cuts both ways. >> does that mean 10% of people want more gun control? or is that some significant percentage of those want less gun control? what does guns mean as an

important issue facing the country. rachel: seeing immigration and border security jump 7 points, that explains a lot about what we're seeing. by the way -- >> exactly right. rachel: we're seeing democrat governors, democrat mayors, suddenly talk about oh, well, we've got to do something about the border and you see katie hobbs in arizona, she mocked sending the national guard down to the border and a now she's sending the national guard. not just that, by name, calling out joe biden. so these polls are making a difference in terms of at least the rhetoric coming out of democrats. >> the story interest that poll right th shows abortion at 6%. we accurately assessed the democrats will tend to lean into abortion in 2024. they've got an uphill climb to make it an issue you that voters care about rival the economy ad

the border. >> donald trump can say this is what i did, this is what you i will still do. we're reacting just like you are. rachel: in real time. >> part of the general election polling you saw with nikki haley versus joe biden, donald trump versus joe biden, you also you saw desantis, as opposed to 2020 it's a refer refer dumb on joe biden. -- referendum on joe biden. it's not just about donald trump or nikki haley. there's three and-a-half years of joe biden's presidency to judge and that judgment whether or not again it's on issues like not just immigration and the economy but war, but i think as well, i just think general competence and dean sigh and what -- decency. there's been cocaine at the white house that no one can find the culprit on. rachel: i know who it is. >> there's been countless trans

activists on the white house lawn. rachel: there was a democrat who swore in over gay porn. >> where was that. rachel: was that in indy? state legislature somewhere and we had a satanic christmas display we're dealing with. >> in iowa. rachel: great week for dems. >> then this. that was a warmup for this. >> to what? >> gay porn in the senate hearing chamber. alleged aide for senator ben carton not caught because self-videoed. >> and then shared to a group t chat of like minded individuals. >> pictures and video. i can't do justice -- there's no overstating this. i mean, there's -- the pictures, the video, in -- >> you don't -- yeah. >> in the senate hearing. >> you don't want to see it. that's what strikes you most, an empty senate hearing room. the video eventually pans over to show the senate emblem.

>> on purpose. >> on purpose. >> look where we are, look what we're doing. rachel: this is where, by the way, sonya sotomayor was sworn in, this is like a place where the american -- this hearing room belongs to the american people and these men in many ways desecrated it. >> do you have assigned seats in the hearing room? >> i did hear the two senators that sit in that location, you know who they are. >> who are they? >> one of them is amy klobuchar, i don't know who the other one is. >> that's amy klobuchar's seat, on her desk right there. rachel: there will be a cleanup crew for sure. >> jonathan to turly wrote that staffers have use of the room. it uses an official area for personal purposes. it's not clear if there were commercial benefits garnered from the video found on various

sites. using the congressional space for commercial purposes can factor in possible carings. the resignation -- charges. the aide's been dismissed, resigned, fire. it won't necessarily end a capitol police investigation. >> the aide that was fired put out a statement, claiming maybe he was discriminated against because of who he loves. >> he says there's a political tack against him because of who he loves. rachel: this is a political attack against him and he's looking to see if he can get, you know, a lawyer and he's looking into -- it's just really hard to believe this victim culture and that that's the initial reaction instead of deep shame and embarrassment. you assume this person has a family. by the i way, it's two men. there's two people here. it's the depth of shame. >> it's stating the obvious to say it's not about who he loves, it's about where he loves and to think that -- >> absolutely right. >> that's stating the obvious.

here's what i think is more interesting. that he thinks there is some chance that playing that card it might get him out. like somewhere down -- he goes i you bet if i play this victim card, mine, why would he not. rachel: it's not a bad assumption. >> those cards have worked. rachel: it absolutely has. he was fired. the question that jonathan is bringing up is will there be criminal charges and we live in a two tier system, particularly on capitol hill. there was a guy that pulled a fire alarm and disrupted an official proceeding for which many republicans are now sitting in jail in washington, d.c. for disrupting a hearing. there are people who have put their foot up on nancy pelosi's desk and they are now sitting in jail after january 6th. this guy -- these two men were at a amy c klobuchar's desk. will what happen to them. >> senator ben carden put out a two line statement, saying this

person has been fired and we won't comment on it anymore. >> democrat don't want to talk about it anymore. >> they weren't overcome by passion. inappropriateness was the point. >> of course it was planned. >> that's why you do, look where i am in the senate chamber,. >> let's go to wisconsin where it's always normal according to you, wisconsin is -- rachel: well, yeah. it's a wisconsin story. it sure is. taco johns -- >> love taco johns. rachel: i'm not into fast food mexican joints. >> we had a taco bell and taco johns in our small town in minnesota growing up. rachel: which is better. >> i like them both. rachel: well, this take a co-johns -- taco johns is upset. they're right across from a junior high school and junior high school kids are coming over to taco johns after school unsupervised without their parents to get a snack but they're not just ordering food and sitting down and having a good time with their friends. >> like good wisconsin kids.

>> like the peach pit, beverly hills 90210, record that. it ain't like that. it ain't like the peach pit. they are stealing soda, stealing the condiments, they're throwing rocks at employees. so basically taco johns said, listen, we're going to have a new rule, no kids who are unsupervised in our restaurant and that's catching on because other places have had unruly young kids. >> how old? rachel: junior high, high school kids. this is the lack of respect that lack of parental control in many i ways. i get the parents aren't there but clearly these kids -- >> here's the sign posted at a taco johns. it says due to multiple incident involving unsupervised minors stealing soda and condiments and leaving messes, being disrespectful and messing around, all minor children under

18must be accompanied by an adut in our lobby. rachel: that hurts businesses. they probably want the business, young kids coming in. but it's not worth the hassle. >> yeah. >> you've got to do what you've got to do. they're probably not spending a lot of money either. if they're junior high, high school, they're not buying hundreds of dollars worth of the taco johns. they're probably buying a soda and refilling it eight times. >> it's a hard time being worked up about taco johns. >> get worked up. >> we went from a senate gay porn segment to this, it doesn't maintain -- rachel: it looks like the kids aren't doing that bad of a thing in comparison. >> small things lead to big things. parents a, make your kids behave at taco johns. >> growing rocks at employees. rachel: yeah, throwing rocks at employees is pretty bad. there's been a lack of respect in general.

rachel: arizona governor katie hobbs deploying the national guard as border operations in the tucson sector remain closed to free up agents dealing with surges migrants. a brand-new poll finds the most

favored tactic is more border agents, two thirds support deporting those here illegally andpenalizing businesses that he them. our next guest carrie lake joins us now. great to have you. you're seeing -- first of all, you ran when you ran against katie hobbs for that governorship, your signature issue was i'm going to send the national guard down there and now she is reacting to basically the border collapsing. what's your reaction to her now saying oh, yeah, maybe we should send the national guard? >> it's laughable. i mean, she on week one, month one started pulling down the barrier that governor doocy put up at the border. while it wasn't a permanent barrier, it was something. her first move on the borders was to tear that down and open it up. this is laughable. my plan was to call it an

invasion on day one, send troops down there and stop people from crossing over the border in arizona and now that the election is not too far away, we're within a year of the election, the democrats are in a panic. joe biden, rubin giyago, kyrsten sinema, created this problem. everybody knows we had a secure border under president trump and they peeled back all of those policies that were working, rachel, and now we have people tens of thousands of people pouring across arizona's border each week and they're running into our interior and being bussed everywhere you across this country and now she sends the guard down there? and then she wants them to just process people. we need to stop people from coming across immediately and we need to build a wall. that's the fastest, cheapest way to do this. rachel: you always hear this, we're going to get more money for border security. it means more money to process them to get them out into the country and not in spaces where

the media can pay attention to people collecting under a bridge or overflowing centers near the border. so we just came up with some polls that just came out in the last hour. they show that border immigration and border security, just over one month period jumped 7 points in terms of what people care about in the upcoming he'll he ex. i wonder, -- election i wonder, do you think it's the polls that are causing katie hobbs to go oh, my gosh we've got to send the national guard down there and what exactly will the national guard do under her leadership? >> sounds like they're going to be taking some of the pressure off border patrol agents and processing people and i'm sure that the members of the national guard would rather go down there and stop people from coming over. and then that will allow us to open up some of the legal ports of entry. so typical of the democrat leadership or lack of leadership to close down legal ports of

entry to legal business and legal tourism so that they can take all of our border patrol and processing people coming i'll legally. it's -- illegally. it doesn't make any sense. i don't know what her plans are. all i know is that it's a bunch of dead end deal for the american people. i'm not surprised that, rachel, the issue of the border has climbed because it affects everybody. we're worried now about a terrorist attack. we heard that there were ieds or at least the elements to make ieds that were he detected at the border. we have fighting age men. we're importing a foreign army and it won't take long for people to turn on us. meanwhile, our economy is hurting. these people have to be put up. they have to be put up in housing, housing that our own citizens don't have access to. and jobs that are going to be taken from american citizens. it's a mess. it's easy to fix on day one, you get in there and you start constructing that wall. and then you start following the

great to see. all right. the race for 2024 heats up, a brand-new poll released this morning at the top of the hour revealing the economy is still the number one issue for all voters across the board. party is split when it comes the second most important issue with democrats nearly split on gun control and climate change while republicans point to border security. joining us now sunday morning futures anchor maria bartiromo. great to see you. i'm sure you saw in the poll donald trump's commanding lead at 69% of republican voters up 7% from last month. maria: yeah. good morning, pete. great to see you all. yes, and that underlines rachel's podcast, the primary is over, donald trump is taking it away. we're watching that but i'm really glad that you zero's into tissues that are important to voters today. the first one on the economy is so important.

that tells you what we're all feeling. when we're going to vote, we are thinking about how our lives have changed and how policies out of washington impact the people directly. and that's why the economy is the number one issue. people are going to the grocery stores and seeing how expensive everything is. and they're recognizing that the reckless spending over the last two and-a-half years is the direct result of all of the inflation that we're feeling. don't forget the definition of inflation. too many dollars chasing too few goods. that is exactly what has occurred in the last two and-a-half years. we are watching inflation cut into our wages, cut into our ability to pay for extra things we're just getting by paying for the essentials and that is rent, food, and fuel. and i want to point out something that i've been learning over the last couple weeks. i spoke about this on my show on fox business multiple times over the last few weeks. and the issue of oil prices undermining any ability to get

inflation really lower is the key point here. the fact that oil prices have been so elevated, that's really the underlying issue with inflation. i had john john on the other da. he said oil prices will be down next year. remember, it's an election year. maria, it's an election year. gasoline will be down one year from now, it's an election year. i said john, why do you keep saying it's an election year? because they will manipulate it. the white house and the democrats are going to want to put lipstick on the pig and they're going to want to do whatever they can to get gasoline prices lower, oil prices lower as we are going to the polls next november. how do they do it? they can do it in any number of ways. john said this is what they're doing now, they're doing everything they can to get oil prices down so that makes the inflation story looks better. don't forget about the underlying policies of what's got us here.

no matter what efforts they do to try to get gasoline prices down, all of the market analysts that i've been speaking with lately continue to remind me, it's an election year. it's an election year. oil will be down. so how will they do it? they can call their allies across the world, let's say they do a deal with saudi arabia. we'll do this for you but you've got to pump it up on the output here. you've got to flood the market with product so that oil prices go down. that's one way. the bottom line is, watch for any manipulation or any moves to actually change what you see and what you feel at the grocery store. that's going to be the number one priority in the 12 months coming with the democrats trying so hard to get the economy looking better, lipstick on the pig, do whatever you can do to get oil down so that makes the inflation story look better. we're talking about this this morning. i've got a nice little scoop to bring you at the top of the hour. people are not focusing on who was with hunter biden when he
