10:02 am
hello, sandra smith. hi, john. >> john: don't believe the polls. words to live by. president biden is getting ready to tout his economic agenda with a trip to milwaukee, even though it appears that voters are not buying into bidenomics. 48% say the administration's policies have hurt them personally and overall majority say the economy is in bad shape. a growing number of dissatisfied democrats contributing to negative views. >> sandra: art laffer and muhammad, will join us in moments. and how polling could affect his re-election chances. >> john: jacqui heinrich live from the north lawn. >> jacqui: bad polls have been getting to the president at least a month. the "washington post" reports
10:03 am
around thanksgiving on nantucket, biden gave a group of his close aides a stern warning the numbers are unalow, and his overall job performance is up three points from low of 40% last month, helped by men and voters over 65 and handling of national security but still well underwater on the issue, including border security, israel-hamas war, china and ukraine and inflation, only 28% approving. 46% say the policies have hurt them and voters don't see the economy any better. twice as likely to see it getting worse next year. white house credited biden fob initiatives and economic recovery but acknowledged the president understands there is more work to do to lower costs for hard working american, why
10:04 am
he passed legislation to lower prescription drug and energy costs, hidden junk fees to rip off consumers and taking on corporate price gouging. and broadly assailing gop for pushing impeachment inquiry and investigation into hunter biden, but the white house may not have helped that the president is keeping far away from hunter's local woes. we were watching the first family's return from delaware ob marine one and peter doocy noticed someone hop off the chopper not on the passenger list the white house gave us, hunter biden. so, hunter is apparently here at the white house after defying a congressional subpoena while being indicted and facing a maximum of 17 years behind bars on financial crimes plus another 25 on the gun charges that he is facing, john.

>> john: interesting he was not on the helicopter manifest. jacqui, thank you, at 1600 pennsylvania. >> sandra: art laffer, former reagan economist, and muhammad, chief economic adviser and member of the global development council. as americans are struggling under this president's bidenomics, art, not a good look heading into a re-election year for the president. >> no, it's not a good look, sandra. i mean, you know, one special treatment for us and them and look at when they do with trump, special treatment for trump. does not seem fair, does not seem even, balanced, and frankly, i think that affects the polls a lot and people's view of the whitney houston. >> sandra: muhammad, good to have you on the program. it's a while since we have seen both of you. we can dig into the economic numbers and implications that
10:06 am
they have for 2024. the brand-new fox news polling shows how dissatisfied voters feel with how things are going in the united states. 68% of voters feel unhappy with how things are going in the country. that is up from 53% since early in biden's term. there are a lot of people who don't feel good with how things are going right now. how do you see all of this impacting the president's chances of being re-elected? >> well, obviously it's a big head wind. and they must be scratching their head, sandra, in the white house. unemployment is very low, lots of jobs created, mortgage rates are coming down, and yet people are dissatisfied and three aspects to that. one is inflation, went all the way up to 9%, and took a big bite out of paychecks. two, people think low inflation means prices coming down and
10:07 am
that's a misunderstanding. and then thirdly, the white house took ownership of the inflation issue when the inflation issue really is at the federal reserve. so, until people feel that inflation is totally under control, which they don't, this administration is going to have a lot of challenge convincing people that the economy is better. >> sandra: fair enough, and the 15 point rise in the polling showing how dissatisfied people are comes from a 27-point increase among democrats climbing to 47% from 20% in 2021. so the biggest change has been with democrats, art. meanwhile, nearly half of voters, 46% of them, art, say the administration's policies have hurt them personally. that is more than three times as many as say they were helped, 14%. another 39% think the policies have not made much difference either way. this has -- this says a lot
10:08 am
about the way people feel. if they believe this president's policies are what are hurting them, that's worth noting. so, why is it that this white house, art, has doubled down just in recent months on their economic pitch that clearly is not being sold to the american people? >> i don't know why they are doubling down but agree with muhammad on what he said. and people understand, sandra, a poor person can't spend his way into prosperity. the policies of the last three years under biden have just been spending, spending, spending, and the prosperity has not materialized. all it has done is taken people off the employment rolls. it's not the unemployment rate, people are no longer unemployed but are not in the workforce and people do understand that you
10:09 am
cannot tax an economy into prosperity. so the last three years the policies have been going in the wrong direction, my view of the world, and everyone realizes it. it's not the same and you know, it's not going to work and i don't think it's going to help the biden white house touting it. this is something they should run away from, rather than run on. >> sandra: that's not going to happen, the president is heading to milwaukee to tout bidenomics as we see the polling. the original point of the optics of all of this, another member of the biden family revealed to not have paid taxes. let's remember what we have heard from the president calling out tax cheats, demanding the wealthy pay their fair share. a sampling of what we have heard. >> look, i'm a capitalist but pay your fair share. >> we always have to raise revenue and go after tax cheats and make sure everybody is paying their fair share. >> it's about time they step up
10:10 am
and pay a fair share. >> it's a matter of decency, dignity. >> paying your fair share, for lord's sake. >> and another member of the biden family is revealed to not have paid taxes. and a fox news poll on registered voters and how they respond when asked about their current personal financial situation. this is an incredibly telling number, and concerning for those obviously currently in the white house. 64% say they rate it only fair or poor, your final thought on that and can republicans really champion a message that says you will be betsz off under a republican presidency? >> you know, the republicans are very lucky because this is happening even though economy grew by 5% in the third quarter.
10:11 am
republicans will push the notion you are worse off because of what we all feel is higher pricis. the fact that this is the fault of the federal reserve and not the administration doesn't matter to the average person. that's what i think republicans are going to push over and over again. >> sandra: all really interesting stuff. and great to have you. as we head into the holidays, art, great to see you, muhammad, thank you for joining us. >> thank you, sandra. >> john: sandra, illegal crossings shattering records at the southern border. agents say they caught more than 54,000 migrants in the tucson sector alone over the past three weeks. and that's in december, which is typically one of the slowest months of the year for illegal crossings. bill melugin is live in lukeville, arizona with more. what else is cbp telling you about all this? >> bill: john, our cbp sources are telling us that as of this morning they had more than 25,000 migrants in federal custody and 20,000 is what is typically considered their breaking point.

so, mass releases are imminent and will be coming soon and are underway right now. out to eagle pass, texas, a live look at the scene right now. eagle pass has been inundated in the last 24 hours with mass illegal crossings. you can see hundreds upon hundreds of migrants gathered waiting for border patrol to process them. border patrol totally overwhelmed. they have over 5,000 in custody as of this morning. they are still trying to transport another 4500 in their facilities in that sector, they are running 260% of what their capacity should be. mostly venezuelans crossing there. as a result of the chaos, you can see the orange bridge, that is the international railway bridge. that has been shut down in eagle pass. it's also been shut down in el paso. cbp making the decisions in order to redeploy personnel on to the ground to help border patrol take migrants into custody and process them and that is damaging international commerce. union pacific not happy about it. they put out the tweet says in

crossings in the last 24 hours alone and back out here live, it's so bad, border patrol has them working in detroit center to do virtual processing of migrants caught at the southern border, to speed um -- up the custody. >> bill, thank you so much, more about this coming up later on in the program with sheriff from cochise county in arizona, and and also we'll have the former acting ice director. >> sandra: completely out of control crisis at the southern border as we have been reporting on day after day, this is a crises all over the country right now, and in chicago where we have been reporting on these migrants who are being bussed to other areas of the country, texas is, you know, they are

john. >> john: you know, texas can't take care of the folks coming across the border and the biden administration doesn't seem to be doing anything to stem the tide. take a look at those pictures, live in eagle pass, texas. this goes on each and every day there. and these folks have to go somewhere. they are released into the country, they can't all be released into texas, so they have to go other places as well. >> sandra: it is just a huge story and seems to only be getting bigger, john. all right, meanwhile, waiting the update from the white house and how the biden administration plans to deal with that crisis, but also what is happening overseas. iran, as its proxies are ramping up attacks against american forces in the middle east. could the u.s. get pulled into the middle east war? plus this. >> reason why you shouldn't join the military. reason number one is pay. we do not get paid enough for what we do. >> i would not join the military, you can't say whatever you want to say.

reminiscent, because of a threat from iran, you know, it's the same play, it's just a different set of players. >> everything old is new again, and that part of the world. one other aspect of this that's a little bit different is during that period we took offensive actions. we struck oil platforms, iranian oil platforms, we sunk half of the iranian navy in the red sea, and arabian gulf. so far in this time we are only taking defensive actions. this maritime task force is protective measure. we have shot down some drones. everything has been on the defense, nothing on the offense. >> john: and that is a question a lot of people have and criticism, let's put up on the screen where the majority of the attacks have been here, it's in the lower part of the red sea, near the strait there between djibouti and yemen, and a couple in the gulf of aden.
