quote. we also need to hamas rejected egypt's proposal to end the war in israel and still not admit free and fair elections in gaza. bark to you griff want to bring in rebecca. hope you had a good christmas. obviously the news doesn't take a break. now this strike by the u.s. how significant is this and was the response proportionate as the administration likes to say to the attack on our personnel, which left one critically injured? >> well, i think the attack -- the court attack on the part of the united states was appropriate. the problem is, it's still too late. and i mean these attacks against u.s. forces in the region have been ongoing of course since hamas massacre october 7th. these are not singular rocket

attacks when we talk about 100 attacks. multiple attacks each time. i applaud the white house for understanding this needed a much bigger response than what we have seen in the past. but i think it still is just not enough. there needs to be more to compel the iran regime to understand that this is not going to be worth it for them. that the united states is going to defend our troops and we are not just going to play defense. we are going to go on the offense. >> carley: what should the united states do? if you were advising the biden administration and the pentagon what would you tell them to do to preach the these attacks from continuing? >> we know where all of these paramilitary groups are that are supported by the irgc, that's the iranians. we know where they are throughout the region. i would advise to do a mask attack all at once, rather than these pin patriotic strikes waiting every five, six, 10 attacks there is going to be more.

joey and always appreciate your service to this country. u.s. forces are still holding the line in the region. obviously as you know a major combat operations have stopped several years ago. they are still providing counter-terrorism operations in iraq. they are supporting operation pancreatic security forces. because we lost in afghanistan we lost a significant capability to conduct counter-terrorism operations in the region, so that's what our forces are doing there. as you know the united states will provide security through major sea lane arteries, the red sea, the mediterranean, we want to keep those open so americans can be safe here at home and prosperous. and iran trying to support global power hedge money, the am rat at this, they see israel as primary enemy and the united states. that's what our forces are doing there in the region. and they got to stay safe. they can't be sitting ducks,

joey. they got to be permitted to go on the counteroffensive. >> griff: to the opposite end of joey's question, should we go further in? i was in erbil, that's where the latest attack on our personnel was. no 2016. advising and assisting the special forces going into mosul to end the last remnants of isis that joey was referencing. now we are sitting there in same capacity in even smaller number, is it time for the administration to consider to go even bolder because iran is getting free play to attack our troops in a vulnerable position. >> it is unacceptable. it is unacceptable to have u.s. forces there in small numbers and unable to go on the counteroffensive. so, yes, i would say they must -- we know where these people are we know where these terrorists are. we must hit them hard. >> if that means that we have to send greater numbers in, i'm not sure that's the case. i think we have significant fire power in the region. it's not there just to be seen. we got use it we keep hearing

from secretary of defense austin we got major fire power in the region. we are going to deter iran by a show of force. not just showing force. you got to have resolve to employ it, to use it. one last point, u.s. leadership. we are trying to keep the red sea open and free and there has been a lot of activity against by the terrorists against cargo ships in the red sea, we need to have our allies with us. if the u.s. isn't going to be strong and clear and have good direction, you will not have the french with us as the hesitant have been hesitant to be under our command. there is a very concerning pattern of u.s. weakness and leadership and unwilling to get our allies to come with us. >> that's a great point. caesar caesar secretary announces 10-country coalition to counteract these houthi rebels that are targeting these now 15 cargo ships in the red sea, that would be considered a defensive strategy as opposed to an offensive one. there is concern that these attacks will continue.

so much cover and concealment that people would do them harm. these are protests. you take them at face value. they are there to exercise a first amendment right. the moment it turns violent, you have got to look into it and say were there people who came here explicitly for violence or people in the city right now who would do others harm and are they utilizing the first amendment people here celebrating. these protests have been doing this all weekend long. talking about the weekend. didn't go christmas shopping on fifth avenue because they were doing their, you know, you're shopping while are bombs are dropping. listen, i, like all of us are the strongest supporters ever free speech. but it's getting violent and it happened in washington at a pro-palestinian rally that i covered in front of the dnc several weeks ago. now in new york city. the nypd having to activate this level 3 stage. and, of course, their theme yesterday was christmas is canceled. that's what they wanted.

in washington and new york city as well. and these pro-palestinian protesters were circling the carolers, horn honking. one protester stood on top of an suv with monster car wheels waving a pro-palestinian flag. "the washington post" interviewed a bunch of those carolers. one young woman says she supports a cease-fire. she said carolers of all races and persuasion are caroling together in the spirit of the holiday. these jerks are driving around with music blasting and annoying the everloving bleep out of people whose support are they trying to win over. really quickly, joey, some these protesters are holding signs, justice, humanity, free fmla palestine. if you are calling for justice and humanity you should draw your ire against hamas holding the palestinian people hostage as well. the unemployment rate in gaza is 47%. and more than 80% of the population lives in poverty. hamas has no shortage of cash.

got away camera, of a migrant in eagle pass is i crossing in the normandy area which is 15 miles north of that port of entry, carrying a rifle. they could not send agents. he is free in the u.s. somewhere doing god knows what. so, what do you say about the risk we're facing from a national security aspect? >> it's real. it's unbelievable what is being allowed to happen and it's putting americans at risk. and it's not even that but even people who give themselves up willingly and processed they are committing pretty serious crimes once they get to the final destination. multiple murders including a young girl in texas by somebody who was a minor at 17 at the time. and 1 and then he killed this girl and did horrible things to her. so, it's the national security risk. it's putting the general population at risk. and it's just -- you know, it's
