they're tire tied of the fact that donald trump really is going to probably win the republican nomination and go on to win a general election. and their only response to it is to gather as that guy on cnn just pointed out unelected officials going and rigging the election so that donald trump can't face an election to -- in front of the people. and it's worth noting. i do think it's kind of significant that she -- that bellows was elected by the legislature and not by the people. she's never faced voters. saying that the colorado supreme court, so just all of the optics if you're putting all the legal questions aside, step back and look at all of the optics, you actually have major actors inside the democrat party trying to preserve democracy by destroying it by removing somebody from the ballot. >> rachel, a lot of these rulings are coming at a time when joe biden is actually

something they did in their dream, we'll do that to an election? i don't think it's healthy. and i think they've become children where they're fighting so hard for control of the toy they don't realize they're breaking it. >> jessica, the senator from maine issued a statement today disagreeing with the secretary of state's decision saying that they had this impeachment process and although he voted to convict, he doesn't believe it should be up to a secretary of state in any state. it should be up to the voters. and it seems like that's what democrats have been advocating for, for years about democracy and yet, now they're throwing donald trump off the ballot. >> it should be noted as well that gerald golden, congressman from maine also said the same thing. he said i voted to impeach him twice. i don't think he should ever serve near again but this is not the way to do it. add susan collins to the pile. someone who has been very critical of donald trump herself even though she's a republican. a lot of people do feel this way.

i see a real distinction between what happened in maine and what happened in colorado. and i take your analogy, jimmy, this kind of -- i know people and i have been accused myself of flying off the handle and just say trump. and suddenly i'm a different color. and everything is awful. but in colorado, they did have a five-day bench trial where evidence was presented from both sides and trump's people have a chance to it. and they found he did engage in an insurrection. if you look at, it's true, rachel. >> rachel: there's no insurrection! there was no insurrection! >> people with zip ties just hanging out. ok, then it gets kicked off to the supreme court. and if you look at the opinions from all seven justices, the four who voted to take him off the ballot and three who didn't, no one refutes the fact that he engaged in insurrection. there's a difference of opinion of whether he should be able to stay in the ballot or not. that's different than one person and this is how the procedure works in maine. she didn't break the law by doing this. i think it's a faulty procedure. that's a very different thing

from going to a bench trial and the colorado supreme court and should be noted as well that in the majority opinion, they cited neil gorsuch himself on the court of appeals because he's ruled before that someone -- a state can remove someone who has engaged in that. >> what about the condition of the country, though? in terms of the democracy and voting and whether we should move forward as a country and the way people are so polarized, is this a good idea for secretaries of state to take a single action to take people off the ballot? >> california said no. california the opportunity to do it and said no. i know the country looks a hell of a lot better than it did on january 6th. and i do know from what -- >> honestly, i don't know. >> really? have you seen the footage? >> have you seen the border, have you seen gas prices? >> i have and they're down! >> yes. there's a precipitous -- >> what is better? oh, the economy is better. crime and safety is better. the border is not better.
