their own shopping and pump their own gas, they are not seen it yet. a lot of people are saying, who will you believe, joe biden or your lying eyes question like the american people are not feeling the extraordinary benefits of bidenomics. if they were, his numbers would be better and like most presidential elections, it will be a kitchen table election and about the economics and the typical american family unless something dramatic happens right now. it is just not that great for the typical american family. it is fine for the people in the corner office of high-rise multinational corporation. but for a working-class family, people who stand on hard, concrete floors everyday and lift everything is. >> you look at inflation numbers and they have improved but the problem is where it is an elevated level when you compare prices to what they were the start of the administration here at the president's approach is basically to say, shoot the

messenger. has that been the wrong approach? how does he talk about this? >> they definitely need to make an improvement and change as to how they discussed the economy because really, we have seen job growth and job improvements appear they are doing what needs to be done to combat inflation. compared to other first world countries in the world following the pandemic, it actually has been fairly well. and a loaf of bread is still not more than it should be. and hopefully throughout this next coming year, they will have some time to really get down to talking about as governor huckabee said, those kitchen table issues. because really, those are the ones that we will see a lot of women that are important to share and women always focus on how much the groceries are, how much they are spending in their household, how much they are paying for gas. what the health care costs are for their children. these are very, very important

things that will play into the next election for sure. >> rich: we are a year out when you look at the polls and the polls can change traumatically as you know running for governor and you also have issues looking forward here. this can be by an aerial election between former president trump, current presidt joe biden and you look at the polls shaping up to be right now but neither are particularly popular. is it too early to say which way this is going to go? and how much can this change in the next really 11 months, ten months? >> well, it can change every month for the next 11 months. the reality of election politics as you can be riding high one day and eating dirt the next. >> rich: yeah, people take a poll and if the election were held today -- well the election isn't being held today so we will do is look at snapshots. but i think there are two big issues that the biden administration has helped create

problems, and they are not addressing. one is the border. it is an absolute disaster. that brings wages down into democrat may resent the big cities and country are screaming that this is absolutely overrunning them here or the other is energy. president biden declared war on fossil fuels day one of his administration. but is not just the cost of gasoline or oil, it is the cost of everything that has to be delivered by trucks and trains and planes. we now see a lot of built in cost and that drives a lot of what goes on with american families and american businesses right now. we went from energy dependent the first time in 75 years to now going back with a ct scan over saudi arabia, and that includes fuel. >> jessica, last word, a long time before the president faces reelection year. do you think he can do it? >> i definitely think he can do it. and i wish governor huckabee and i were policy people and we like

there will be price increases, disruptions to the supply chain. it seems like something has to be done. how much longer can this go on? >> well, anita, the real challenge is $9 billion of trade flows both ways and the swiss canal, which is on one side bound by the red sea, which is exactly where the attacks are taking place. so to disrupt those trade operations, $9 million worth of oil, i'm sorry 9.2% of the world's oil passes through the swiss canal every day. that is a huge problem as well. we can expect to see shipping delays up to 14 days in the united states. as we see those ships reroute around the cape and africa. that is going to cause not only delays but also information in the united states and europe. that is huge problem for the economy. it will get worse and unless we take actions against houthis, we can expect problems to continue and draw further into this conflict.

>> anita: this new multinational maritime force that was created, to sort of help with this violence going on by the houthis but already we see nations drop out. spain does not support this effort. why is that? >> you know, 20 nations we brought in this operation prosperity and ten of them not even declared their relationship with the united states publicly. so the real question is why aren't they backing it? they know how important it is for world trade. they know how important this fight is pure the problem is we are not showing sue strengthening the ports but we are shooting down drones but not taking direct action. over time, direct action against the houthis and this one fight where actually they board this vessel. and then we finally took action 3 out of 4 ships sinking the houthi rebels. i think the problem is the allies don't see an effort to win here but sort of fighting the action. that will not succeed.

now, a federal judge has ordered the public disclosure of about 150 names of people mention in court documents related to jeffrey epstein. as we heard alexandria hoff's report, president clinton was mention 50 times. we know he was on jeffrey epstein's jet, but what more might we learn? >> i think we will get a better effect how jeffrey epstein did what he did. as you mention, anita i was at the justice department and i still remember where i was when i got that phone call that they found epstein hanging in his cell. was devastating and devastating for the justice department because we were robbed of an opportunity to bring him to justice. i think what the judge has done is smart with transparency and the general philosophy is that justice cannot survive behind the walls of silence and so i think her making as much information public while weighing the privacy interest of the victims has been good and

helpful for the greater good. >> anita: so other than president clinton and this is not a client list being released. right question mike this is a list of names mentioned with court documents by one of the accusers against jeffrey epstein jeffrey epstein. other than president clinton, are there any other big power players who were nervous about the release of these documents? >> i think we may learn about people who were either on witness list and it doesn't mean they were involved are guilty but we may learn more about some of these victims were pure the judge did say that she would not unseal those who are minors at the time of jeffrey epstein's abuse. we will not learn that and i think that is a good thing in line of the privacy of those young women at the time. but i think we have a better sense of the ecosystem of sorts. the way that epstein conducted what he did, there is a lot of curiosity in the public and i think there is movement separate from this and senator blackburn

♪ ♪ >> anita: some heart-stopping moments on new year's eve just block from times square. the police went on a rampage plowing into pedestrians. live in new york city, lexus peer that sounds terrifying. what happen here? >> it only happen an hour and a half after the ball drop. that is investigators on standby and all hoping that somebody would leave. when one was left pinned under a food truck after these hashes and taken to a hospital but she is doing okay. take a look on your screen. this is some of the aftermath times square in new york city. the please tell us that started with an argument between a driver and another guy in midtown manhattan when the officers tried to break it up. the suspect hopped in his car and took off. investigators also telling us the 44-year-old driving high rate of speed and didn't say how fast he was going but all the streets were closed down out there and pedestrians everywhere. he hit several cars, including cop cars and drove the wrong way

on some very busy streets. overall, investigators say he hit five people who are walking and four cops. the driver is in custody right now facing some serious charges after investigator say he drove into those people during those new year's eve celebrations and crashed up on the sidewalk also to add more to it. the food truck in new york city and left that woman pinned under the car. she is expected to be okay and was released from the hospital according to authorities. investigators have not said what charges he is facing but we are waiting to get more information, anita. >> anita: alexis, did you say the driver had been drinking? >> they haven't said yet because they didn't even put a specific report out on what was going on. he was in a fight trying to get out of there and they were trying to stop him and took off. no specific details on that. >> anita: thank god no one was seriously injured appeared alexis mcadams who live in new york, rich. >> rich: it is the beginning

of a new year which means new laws, live in los angeles the wrath of some of the laws you can expect to follow or not this year, jeff. >> ridge, california is preparing to provide full coverage health care for roughly 7,000 undocumented people under the state's medi-cal system. and undocumented residents under the age of 26, but this new law expands health care to any age. it is expected to compensate $3.1 billion each year, but this program begins as california faces record $68 million budget deficit. another law taking effect today, banning guns in most public places. this is another one in california. a federal appeals court on saturday put a hold on previous ninth circuit court of appeals ruling that the law violates a person's right to bear arms. for now carry holders will not be able to bring guns to places like schools and government
