>> welcome to the special edition of "hannity" countdown to iowa. it will kick off in exactly one week from tonight. we should have full results from the republican iowa caucus next monday, but don't expect any numbers from democrats with a very complicated mail-in voting system and the reshuffling of the democratic party's primary calendar, we will get an official tally for months. of course barring a major trip in the fall biden will almost certainly be the democratic nominee. the big question to men, why. joe biden has been a terrible president. his approval numbers show it. they are at record lows. his cabinet doesn't even bother to keep them in the loop on major issues. no one even bothered to tell your president joey biden that his secretary of defense actually incapacitated in the icu for several days. just wondering out loud. what if we had a national emergency or some international crisis and we need our secretary

that's his style of campaign or at least that's what the democratic party is trying to do. joe barely knows what day of the week it actually is and will spend most of the upcoming year in his basement or in the white house basement or on the beach somewhere resting and relaxing. but so far, it's not working for joe biden. voters remain angry at their president. look at these polls. the president is down in nearly every single swing state in the country and now two of the biggest trump haters in america are reportedly freaking out. there would be former barack obama and former first lady michelle obama. they apparently are getting very, very nervous. according to "the washington post" during a meeting at the white house "obama grew animated discussing the 2024 election" and the former president donald trump's potential return to power scares him. meanwhile michelle obama expressed her fears on a recent podcast. take a look for yourself. >> what will happen in this next election, i am terrified about

6:15 pm
between 2024 and 2020 is that joe has a record and it's atrocious. so in this briefing i'm assuming that the mob and the media, your friends, the blue check mark media cult recently are getting their talking points and basically being spoon-fed what the biden campaign is going to want them to say. >> the sports analogy is yes, they are working on the rafts and the refs are more than willing to be worked as stenographers. it's a broken record played to avoid talking about an actual record. this president's grand opening argument to kick off his campaign in 2024. saying he and he alone can save democracy than joe biden is in serious trouble. this is a president who spent 138 days last year and relaxing locations on posh vacation spots. that was in 2023.
6:16 pm
so apparently saving democracy will be done on a part-time basis chock-full of long weekends at bernie's. we are seeing a common thread from biden in terms of what we are not hearing about. no mentions of the wonders of bidenomics, no mention of americans drowning in credit card debt. even democrat sound the alarm. no mention of u.s. test scores their lowest in decades. no mention of the u.s. looking like a complete nut or laughingstock to our adversaries because the commander in chief has no idea where his defense secretary's. issues and common sense will win the election if joe biden thinks he can run by ignoring his own record and strictly demonizing donald trump who has the shoes on his side he will go down as the first one term democratic president since jimmy carter. >> sean: here's the problem with the january 6. if you want to criticize trump and that's part of your argument, that's fair. you can say you should have done, abc. the worst thing about the

heard. it's a complete picture. they acted in the media went completely along with the total narrative that misses very key aspects that need to be examined if you don't like rioting and you want to prevent it from happening. does that matter? will the american people remain ignorant of those facts? >> i think the american people want to hear from this president terms of okay if we reelect you, what will you do to advance the country forward and solve these problems you created? if you want talk about an event, a horrific event three years ago then roll the dice and take your chances but in the end those january 6 committee hearings that was made for msnbc and cnn audiences. most of the country tuned out because they have their own problems and think about and not some of your three ago. >> sean: exit question for all three of you. tomi, you don't think biden is

democratic party base and he's losing double-digit support in every demographic. in some cases 20%, 25%. can he recover? >> i think the only way he can is what you were saying in the early segment. a sustained negative attack on donald trump. trump's numbers, as you know, are almost as bad in terms of approval as biden. he's ahead on every issue. but he has vulnerability. frankly i think joe biden is looking forward to this campaign because he knows he can't run on his record. you're right about that. but the real clear politics members are plus two for trump. >> sean: if i may interrupt for a second. i hear your point but my question is, we've heard nothing but negative comments about trump since the minute he came down the escalator. the american people have heard it. joe biden, he get more extreme. maga republicans, comparisons to

nazis. i mean, at some point, there's got to be diminishing returns to that strategy. >> here's the thing, sean. biden spent the last eight or nine months running on bidenomics, running on job creation. >> sean: how did that work? >> not so well. you've got to go to plan b and plan b is a sustained attack on donald trump. if he's two points behind, their view is it might work. i don't think it well. i think trump is the favorite. i think with michelle obama saying for the first time she's terrified, we are hearing that the former president and his wife, his wife being a likely winner in an election, or mobilized, that suggests to me that biden has a real problems of the type jim clyburn alluded to. >> sean: you know, there's two things, lee. if you look at it subjectively, he can't say are you better off anywhere four years ago? and doug was a big supporter of
6:30 pm
bill clinton. bill clinton, he made adjustments after the first midterm and said things like the era of big government is over, the end of welfare as we know it. he didn't double down on going left. he moved more to the center and it served him pretty well doing that. i only see biden doubling down on nothing because there's not a single policy success that i see that he can run on. >> biden is in a real conundrum because there's not a single measure he can run on successfully. he's underwater in every polling category that you can think of whether it's the economy, immigration, you go through it and he's just not going to win on any single issue. most incumbent presidents can run as a referendum, saying you want four more years of what i've done for you. or let's finish the job together. he can't do that because nobody wants him to finish the job. those numbers are very good for him so the only choice he has right now is a choice between good and evil.
6:31 pm
he's painting himself as to the choice, donald trump is the evil choice. but i think you're right a lot of people have a lot of fatigue about this issue. we've heard in 2020 it was the end of democracy. we heard in 2016 if donald trump were to win it was going to be the end of the economy as we know it and none of it has happened. you ask the american people what they prefer from an economic policy, go through the line, they prefer donald trump's policies. to your point, he's lost ground with every single one of the constituents that carried him into office. blacks, which he lost by 21%. hispanics also in the double digits, younger voters. he has gone from 24%. lost by 33 points and it's unbelievable. the numbers working against joe biden right now so he has no choice but to run dirty. >> sean: all right. doug schoen, will joe be the democratic party's nominee in november?
6:32 pm
>> i think right now the answer is yes but sean, we've got a long way to go. with michelle obama saying what she said and barack obama saying when he is reported to say, i would say keep a close eye on the bidens and keep a closer eye on the obamas. >> sean: okay. if it's not joe, who would it be? >> michelle or gavin newsom are the only ones who can win. kamala harris cannot win. >> sean: you think michelle obama would run? you believe that? >> i didn't believe until i heard her say she was terrified. she seemed animated. i think with poll numbers probably showing her five to ten points ahead at the outset there's a greater chance today of that than the ones week or so ago. >> sean: lee, you get the last word. will joe biden be on the ticket? >> i think it's going to be a rematch between biden versus trumpet i don't see how joe biden can get out of this.
6:33 pm

heads are apparently not going to roll over that. >> you're absolutely right. this was an utter breakdown of the chain of command. it's a total dereliction of duty. let me tell you where this is so dangerous, as you were alluding to. in our nuclear command-and-control posture if an adversary launches a nuclear icbm, we have 15 minutes to determine whether the united states is targeted, how it's being targeted, or whether it's some type of test. the national command authority gets on the line with the commanding general of no rad and the secretary of defense makes a recommendation to the commander in chief of whether we respond in kind with launching our own nuclear triad in our own nuclear missiles. if you're not 15 minutes you can find literally can't find the secretary of defense because he is in the icu, that is not only dangerous to every american.
