the big question is, does the person he has picked know that he has picked them. we mentioned yesterday on x formerly known as twitter, there was some speculation that lee zeldin was receiving formal media training amid being vetted to serve as the vice president. then you see dr. ben carson out in urbandale, iowa, which is west des moines. evidence was out campaigning for donald trump yesterday. >> ainsley: or tim scott. he hasn't endorsed anyone yet and they are about to go to south carolina. >> one of his top aides was asked by the "new york times" last night chris la is a vida, who is the vice president? he said all i know is what i just heard. we know his friends have suggest audit woman to help him win back black suburban women who voted for joe biden. also, one of the other thinking is, perhaps, a person of color to build on the gains he made with black hispanic men.

governor it was different when she was ambassador. >> ainsley: we were getting news yesterday afternoon that chris christie is about to drop out of the race. we were tuning in for that last night. form are governor dropped out. announced that yesterday. ending presidential campaign saying there isn't a path for me to win this nomination. who would be the biggest benefbeneficiary for that? going into new hampshire cnn poll nikki haley. 55% of christie's supporters, 1% listed haley as their second choice. now, trump is winning there he has 49% according to the cnn poll in new hampshire. haley has 32%. we that take her even higher. obviously it would if she got his votes. whether that will happen we don't know. >> brian: endorsement will be tough to make. >> steve: if he was going to endorse somebody last night he would have done it last night. it's curious. i have heard from people inside the campaign that the chris christie campaign has been under so much pressure starting before christmas where they essentially said to him, look, you are at 2%

hey,ed to. >> todd: yesterday united flight 2434 was heading from sarasota to chicago. just but before 4:00 p.m., less than an hour after takeoff the pilot had to make emergency landing after open door warning light popped. this scare coming less than a week after horrifying door panel blowout on alaska airlines flight. in response the airline is can seeing all of their boeing 737 max 9 flights through saturday as they continue safety inspections. it's important to note, even though united airlines is one of the two american companies operating jet liners. reports say the united plane that had to make the emergency landing in tampa yesterday was not a boeing 737 max #. update to the overall story yesterday, alaska says it is still waiting for documentation from boeing and the faa to begin inspection on the max 9 fleet. after that panel blew off mid flight, the entire cabin was depressurized 16,000 feet in the air, causing a chaotic and

terrifying situation. the cockpit door flying open. headsets ripped off seats. a kid had his shirt ripped right off his body. one expert warns that the explosive force was such that a kid being held would have been torn from the hands of their parents and they would have been sucked out of the plane holding kids on your lap, especially for takeoff and other vulnerable phases of flight, it's highly frowned upon and discouraged. right now parents are also being warned to stop holding those babies on airplanes as a precaution. i'm wondering, steve, if they make it a rule. it seems like at this point it might need to be a rule. >> steve: if it is a rule, a lot of people will have to buy an extra seat now for little baby and put them in the car seat. ultimately what they are saying the kids will be safe. >> todd: 100 percent. >> steve: switch to this. here in new york city today, students are back in the classroom at james madison high school in brooklyn after being forced to go remote learning yesterday to house migrants in their school because of a big

especially with exams around the corner, i could have been better prepped for it. instead i was home and doing assignments and not interacting with the teachers. >> steve: julia, i don't know if you talked with many of your friends from school about yesterday, but i was reading in one of the papers today that apparently, you know, they were going to do remote learning and everybody was going to be on their laptop a bunch of loom stuff like that, but a whole bunch of teachers never logged on and classes never happened. did you hear anything about that? >> yeah. i heard that a lot of my teachers emailed us saying that if you have any questions, email us before joining so they can actually join, too. but, otherwise, just do the assignments and that will be counted as attendance. >> steve: jane, are you happy with this great plan? i mean, ultimately, what they said was the city is housing like 70,000 migrants. and a bunch of them were out at an airstrip and they had a tent on a runway that they were afraid was going to blow away

during the big storm it did not thank goodness. ultimately they put 2,000 migrants in your daughter's classroom. how do you feel about that? >> it's really, really upsetting. i mean, why does james madison or any other school, for example, has to battery burden of the city's migrant crisis? i mean, vulnerable to all weather conditions. what does that mean that my child's school will be their shelter this winter? what's going to happen? winter is just the beginning. it's right around the corner. we are really really upset about this. my child goes through metal detectors every day. they were walking in with suitcases. what -- how is that safe. what about vaccination? they have to come back completely vaccinated. were they checking migrants for vaccination or their background checks when they entered the school? it's really upsetting.

>> steve: yeah. you know, i was reading in the "new york post" this morning they said since this migrant problem, crisis, really, migrant mess as the big wall says right over there. since this is because ever the joe biden, why didn't they open up some of the federal buildings they have got here in new york city. they have got millions of square feet of federal buildings in new york city that they could have said, you know what? you guys here at the epa, new york city office. don't show up tomorrow because we are going to put 2,000 people in your office? why didn't they do that? >> i have no idea. for me the problem is the government seems to prioritize migrant families over their own law abiding tax paying citizens. i feel more the migrants' families. i really do. another example of officials not being in touch with the people that voted them in. our tax dollars seems to be

going to help those that do not contribute to the tax dollars themselves. >> steve: you know, jayne, we talked a little bit about this on "fox & friends." in that particular neighborhood, i would imagine a giant majority of people actually ve voted fore biden. this crisis is because of joe biden's policies regarding migration. i don't know if you voted for joe biden. i'm not going to ask you about that on camera, but what would your message be to the president? because he apparently doesn't understand how it's impacting people. >> i mean, thanks to our council woman who has been there for us to really show people what is going on, i'm asking the government, asking the president -- i mean, please look at what is going on in our own neighborhood, in our own city with migrants all over. what's going to happen every single week or so? i see new buses come in.

standard in investigating hunter biden and he joins us right now. tristan, what is your take first on that legal maneuver by abbe lowell? >> well, it was clever to an extent. they are definitely trying to walk a very fine line both in arguing the court of public opinion that he should not be held in contempt but, the at the same time, to show up at the committee room. i used to work for that committee a few years ago. part of the committee's challenge will be to make the case to the court that he should be held in contempt. and so for them to do that, they are trying to hedge on their legal liability you can see how the committee reacted to thatting trying to write the rules for himself. >> brian: why wouldn't you hear from him it's the format. five minutes for the democrats to say is he a saint. five minutes for republicans to try to make some progress where one question could be filibustered and the next thing you will know you move on. and then he could skate when

behind closed doors what's the difference? >> >> so, for one, there is a huge committee practice and as an investigator, you have to be able to go behind closed doors to be able to get all the information. did you go in one hour rounds where each side republicans and democrats get to ask their questions for an hour. that's how you get all the substantive information. committee hearings are not designed in 5 minutes investigating and getting that information. you have to have a transcript. you have to have all the underlying documents. otherwise, as we have seen in many hearings, people can sometimes, you know, just get away with whatever they want in a everything ha. because there is not enough to time to dig substantively into issues. >> brian: hopefully a judge understands that he is one way or the other of contempt charges. let's talk about what kind of tax trouble is he. in he is accused of and arraigned filing a false return, that's a felony on two counts goh. tax evasion two counts.

failure to file misdemeanor on two counts. >> essentially in part of a scheme they allege to not pay taxes on $1.4 million. so where does he go from here? what is his defense i was on crack? is that good enough? >> fine line. abbe lowell and hunter biden have been out there saying that these charges were only brought because our whistleblowers who empower oversight, brought this information to the public. but, at the same time, now all that information in the indictment is out there. it's clear to the public if you read that indictment this is not just from some republican pressure on capitol hill these are very serious charges but backed up by very serious evidence. is he going to plead not guilty but, at the same time, what they will really be arguing in court when it comes down to it is well, you should let us off

because the prosecutor has offered this plea deal before. right? republicans on capitol hill allege was a sweetheart plea deal. again, they are trying to both tell the public there is nothing to see here by telling the judge, look, you can't hold us accountable for this because delaware prosecutors, led by david weiss, offered us full immunity and that was precisely the sort of sweetheart treatment that the whistleblowers came forward with. >> brian: all right, tristan, we will keep our eye on this. more discovery as they try to put some of these deals together. could pay more in taxes. tristan, appreciate it. coming up, fox weather alert. avalanche after one person dead. dangerous situation for skiers. using helicopters to try to find migrants who reportedly landed by boat in florida. jumped out. took off. plus, former president trump comes out swinging in a fox news iowa town hall. >> joe biden, he can't put two incidences together and is he representing us on nuclear weapons with putin and xi.

certainly. and then a rain event for a lot of spots along the east coast yet again. look at these snowfall totals, 12 to 18 inches. some areas could get upwards of 2 feet. and then the stronger storms, including tornadoes, that extend from texas through the gulf coast up towards the southeast. that's today and friday. so there's the threat this afternoon as we get into the afternoon hours things start to really ramp up and we could see the potential for ef-2 plus tornadoes. early week winter storm. so this is monday and tuesday. our next round of winter weather but i want to point out we have icing possible for parts of texas through louisiana. the south, the deep south, and then that low comes off the coast, we think, and that could bring some measurable snow to cities like new york city. we're going to watch for that then that cold air this week, the coldest air of the season, the polar vortex comes into play. that's going to mean very cold temperatures. we're watching iowa for the caucus next week. temperatures below zero with wind chills in the negative 0 to

it shows here the growth that trump had. and what he learned in four years. and what he thought about for four years and what is he going to implement in the four years that, god willing, is he going to have. i think it's going to be a good trajectory planning on and shows you the maturity that he has grown up into. that's the type of support and that's the type of leader that we need in the white house. >> ainsley: there is an issue that the democrats are really pushing, and that's the abortion issue. donald trump addressed that last night. listener to this. >> they are the radicals because they are willing to kill the baby in 8 months, 9 months or even after birth. there has to be a little bit of a concession one way or the other. i think i want to get it right. i have to get it right. you know, i happen to be for the compensations like ronald rearks with the life of the mother. rape, incest. you have to go with your heart first. go with your heart and mind, go with it. but you do also have to put in

there a little bit. you have to win elections. >> ainsley: let's talk about this. he is saying i'm not really for it. it should be rare like ronald reagan always said. there have to be con concessions. daniel, i know you are a stupidity. this matters to, i guess, some of your peers. at my age we are not really worried about having to be that situation. but, for you, as a college student, what are your friends saying about this issue? >> i think that all of my friends, they -- they are aware that the left has gone way too radical with their position on abortion. as well as other positions like the economy and education. i think that abortion exposes the democrats for what they are -- for what -- the radical policies that they're pushing. >> ainsley: to kill a baby at 9 months, 8 months. >> to kill a baby at 8, 9 months, to not -- to impose these radical policies on the economy which i'm graduating in two years.

i want to enter a striving economy because i want to get a job once i graduate. and i was reassured by trump last night when he talked about how his economy was focused on low energy prices and as a result we have one of the best economies in a while. and i am also in education. democrats don't really ointment beneficiary of school choice. charter school first grade to eighth grade. i went to a magnet school for a high school. and, you know, as a writer for campus reform the things i'm seeing, universities having adolescent gender affirming summits and conferences where they teach educators anti-racist curricula for schools nationwide, that needs to end. children need to have better schooling. we need to have a great economy, and we need more sensible, more

common sense, as democrats would say, policies on things like abortion. >> ainsley: natalia, how about you? you are raising two children. your top issue is also education, right and parental rights. >> right. >> what do you want to see in your candidate? >> i want to see a desantis-style candidate. i have supported desantis pretty much from the beginning after seeing how great he was at parent engagement in florida. parents were at the table right at the beginning. he followed the science. he engaged the scientists. he didn't just follow the political scientists kind of like what biden has done he has actually followed evidence and we have seen the fruits of his neighbor. parents here in new york have felt really excluded from the process. astro turf groups that claim to speak for us but actually there is no one truly advocating for the children. i will would like to see whoever, you know, ends up being the candidate do that i think trump is probably a better candidate than biden but, i
