are in motion for an election that could change who's in charge and what the strategy is, and that path goes through iowa. in two days, iowa will be going to the caucuses for republicans to have the first opportunity to choose who that candidate might be for the republicans and, will, first time caucus goers from iowa on the show earlier kind of giving us a speak peek of what they're think -- sneak peek what they're thinking about. here's what they said. >> i feel stronger than ever for my support for donald trump and with the fact that the democrats are going after him for bogus charges and i think he's a stronger candidate than he was in 2016. >> i haven't made up my mind and there's still two days till the iowa caucuses and i've got about three candidates i've norrowed it down to -- narrowed it down to but not letting the candidates off the hook till tuesday night. >> i saw donald trump and governor desantis in action, not

as much as president trump but he's done great things for the state of florida but i'm with mary that i convenient made up my mind yet. will: with the interview, it was twofold and basically who they eliminated from consideration. for two they were still open at least nominally open between basically desantis and trump. one of the young ladies had eliminated nikki haley and one of the young ladies eliminated vivek ramaswamy from their own consideration and leads to my second take away and they all answered we expect no surprises and in the end, they all probably even individually supported donald trump. rachel: yeah. it's very interesting and i was surprised one of them said also that she was very inte interestn vivek and young and his message was appealing and we had an interesting discussion in the show here at the coach about vivek because, yeah, vivek is not -- he's at 6%. there's no way. he says he'll have a surprise and there's no way he'll win

this. clearly vivek is staying in the race and making another play. i think he has a really bright future. one of the things we talked about as well is just awe quick he is on his feet and he gets to the heart of the mutineer a smart and articulate way and climate protesters interrupted him and listen to his response.. will: does this election represent that the vast majority of people in taiwan value their independence. dependence? >> good morning. first of all, i want to congratulate taiwan for having another successful election and shows taiwan's democracy is healthy and well functioned and, yes, before the election communist china gave warning ands don't want dpps elected and now taiwan needs to move to the front and overwhelming race that shows that the taiwaneese firmly reject their separate political trajectory from beijing. this is tremendous. pete: helen, how will china

respond? that's got implications for our country. what does this mean? jowski this can mean several different thins. >> immediately the chinese government probably not going to invade taiwan immediately because the president xi currently faces several serious domestic challenges in the economy that's faltering and he has to deal with serious corruptions within the chinese military and so the military's fighting power that's questionable. it's very likely that chinese government is not going to do anything too crazy immediately, but what they're likely to do is they're going to continue military intimidation basically like sending fighter jets into taiwan's south declared air zones on a daily basis and continue to combat the military drills and probably impose the

military zones and regardless who in taiwan is elected and the communist china wants to take over control of taiwan. taiwan cannot have long lasting peace with china. rachel: what china is doing in our country domestically as well as the international situation and how concerned are you with what we're seeing in just american foreign policy in general with the chaos we're seeing and the number of wars that were involved in via proxy should china try to invade taiwan. >> thank you, rachel. this is a major concern and there's several concerns that are supported to ukraine and has depleted our military ammunitions as well as weapons

and not fast enough and it's the global organization and they've not had the urgency to ramp up the military manufacturing and that's one concern and the second concern is we know from president reid and peace comes with strength and the current administration believes in demonstrating weakness and as we've seen from it what happens in the middle east as well as ukraine and russia. when you demonstrate weakness, you invite aggression. so xi already, china's xi already has the military capacity to invade taiwan and he's been provoking taiwan constantly, and that's a reflection on the american weakness and we really should think about our national interest to make a case about how can we protect our friends as well as our national interests. will: helen, thank you for being with us this morning.

do you believe a state? pete: traditionally that's what do you bring on the electoral map and with donald trump, it's a lot different than that. how do they jive or connect? is it someone that maybe softens some edges or brings in different appeals and joe biden said it's going to be a black female. will: for him. pete: yeah, vice presidents are picked. will: some of the names people are talking about. south dakota governor kristi noem. she's in a solid red state and donald trump doesn't need kristi noem to deliver south dakota. it's going to go republican either way. to your point, pete, who can work with donald trump? who's in somewhat of alignment? she does seem to be on many of the issues. pete: a lot will come down to interpersonal like how have their interactions been? does he feel comfortable with her? will she carry the agene data committee?

took on donald trump and was friendly to him in the contest and therefore is a likely con tepider. will: he's interesting to watch and mike pence was the perfect presidential running mate for donald trump and many ways he stood by donald trump for so long and helped execute the job. i could actually until of course the falling out at the end, i could see tim scott serving a similar purpose. pete: true, the real premise of pence in the beginning of 2015 was to convince conservative that trump was conservative and pence was known to be a reliable conservative and they didn't know why trump stood and he helped bolster that in perspective. will: lee zeldin ran for governor of new york and impressive run against kathy hochul. pete: if there's reasons he was on the list and doing media training with team tram and could be as a surrogate or for something bigger. i think that would surprise me a

bit and then here's the other thing with this theme right here. if donald trump wins and serving a second term and that means the minute he's in office, if you have a candidate waiting in the wings, you could become a lame duck on day one and not running for reelection and if you bring in somebody that's the air apparent, the conversation could become about a 2028 candidacy. but not with someone like a full tulsi gabbard and former democrat and ran for president and left the democrat party but could, you know, anti-woke, is pro restraint on defense, military veteran, could sort of die lute some of her -- dilute some of the former left wing views on other places and mike an interesting pick. will: former views used against her and i don't think vice president is swing elections but for that transactional value. i don't think anybody votes

because they like the vice presidential candidate and therefore i'll vote for the person. maybe argue there's more downside and argue sara palin cost john mccain. i don't know. but it's usually just about what do you deliver me transactionally or to your point today, how do they work with me. pete: independent voters work. name the last three real quick because we're out of time. nikki haley seems unlikely considering how often they've gone at each other and a lot of people in trump world said if she's the vp, they might jump too. this is interesting, will. will: vivek ramaswamy, obviously the con and we're focusing on the cons and it's actually, i think it's hard to see how many of these people fit the bill. for me i personally don't see, i see the cons highlighted on each one going around this and political experience and that might not be a con. i don't know about vice president.

before the states caucuses. pete: rick reichmuth has the forecast. rick: i'm out here with the weather and can you believe this weather? >> i'm out in a sweatshirt and it's unbelievable because normally it's in the teens and i'm here every january. rick: part of the issue is across the airports and delays and pretty significant around chicago and very windy and cold air is moving in right now and behind the storm and brought snow and rain and snow and 12% of the flights in the airport were delayed today and you feel like you're 13 in chicago and look at des moines by the way, that is where it's going to be by tonight feeling like minus 40 something by midnight and feeling like minus 16 in chicago. the cold air really spills in behind this storm and this is what monday looks like for those headed out and these are high

america crown. is the military cool with this? they must be. >> they've been so supportive. so those clips of me in the fighter plane, i was not the pilot. i had an amazing f16 pilot up front who's a female and i'm a pilot select right now and graduated from the air force academy and everyone has been so, so excited to get to have me here. will: pete, would you read madison's -- pete: yeah, in addition to all of this stuff, you're a national true man scholar and eight times dean's list at air force and three types super-intent's list and national roads finalist and certified private pilot and black belt in taekwondo and graduate of kennedy school of harvard. will: how do first dates go? rachel: right. will: underachiever. that's intimidating and take madison out and you have nothing. you have nothing to brag about where madison.

and in addition to that i assume there's a talent on dis-lay because this is miss america and getting up on stage, looks like you sing. >> so i do basically a monologue. it's called a her story at the miss america opportunity and i give a speech on my very first solo flight at age of 16. because i started flying around 15 and that's whenever i kind of fell in love with the air force academy and the idea of serving and i walk through what that flight looks like and some of the things that went wrong and how they relate to me today as a leader and officer and how that goes into pageantry as well and it's a bit of a nonconventional talent. will: interesting. rachel: competing in miss america, you have to be on your toes and they ask you questionss and don't know what it's going to b. i'm going to try this out for you. what is a woman? >> you know, serving to me, being a woman in the military is all what you make of it. for me, that's been being able to do both.
