6:00 pm
in iowa of all time, how do you make sense of that? >> i think all karl was saying it is not clear that he can clear the 50% margin which would be unprecedented for him. that is something we are watching. when a guy wins this big we are talking about small stuff whether he is over 50 or not. that's not going to matter much. >> you agree with waters. when we are in new hampshire we can rub that in rove's face. >> i am sure you will try. don't try too much. >> i will see what i can pull off in new hampshire. thank you so much. as you heard it, early call and big win for the former president in iowa. could be a record. a race for second underway. stay with fox news. welcome to "hannity".
6:01 pm
we are reporting from a cold iowa tonight. now breaking only moments ago fox news can now project that donald j. trump will win the iowa caucuses by a very wide margin. a massive slap in the face to all the obsessive trump haters in washington and the swamp. all the far left prosecutors that have weaponize and politicized our system of justice. and all of those perpetrating one witchhunt after another. after yet another media mob cheering on the abuse of political hacks every step of the way. it's a big message sent to the country tonight. voters can see through it. they know our system has been corrupted. they see unequal justice and application of our laws. they are now suffering through 1 of the worst presidents in american history. bidenomics is a failure. inflation through the roof. the border an utter disaster. europe is at war. the middle east is at war. our troops are coming under attack.
6:02 pm
life expectancy is down. homelessness at record levels all around the country. joe biden's presidency has been destroying this country. now the people of iowa have sent a message loud and clear at the ballot box. welcome to "hannity". 9:00 on the east coast. 8:00 p.m. in freezing cold des moines, iowa were voters rave the snow and subzero temperatures to participate in what is a historic night and a huge win that they are delivering for donald trump. coming up we will take you live on the ground and have the latest voter analysis and reaction. we will check in with kellyanne conway, harold ford jr., sandra smith, jim jordan, newt gingrich and more. but first for the very latest numbers we check out the hannity big board. hannity is not capable of comprehending these technologically deficient. thankfully our friend bill hemmer is at the big board. it is his big board and he is
6:03 pm
the best at it. >> you should have been here saturday. the winds from the north and a big way. we are early on. i want viewers to know that. the reason why we can call a winner is our fox voter analysis team has been in the field for seven days. we poll people who intend to caucus and we go back to them again and again to make sure the decisions they give us are indeed the final decisions. hence the reason why we are able to call this early for donald trump tonight. where are we now? about 3% of the statewide estimated vote that will come in tonight. we are in des moines in polk county. this is cedar county. 58% of the boats are in. it's a rule county. 58% of the vote reporting. the population as a half a% for the entire state of iowa. it ranks 38 of 98. it's a rural county. you can see what trump is doing
6:04 pm
with nikki haley and ron desantis. second and third. vivek at 8%. if he is to get above ron desantis he will come to the main screen throughout the night. we will make that clear to the viewers at home. one, two, three and four based on the county results. let me get one here to johnson county. i watch this earlier. nikki haley with 20% of the vote reporting in johnson county. he's holding onto a decent lead at 41%. we will see how this goes for the remaining 80% of the vote. johnson county is a large county and ranks 4 out of 99. rubio did well here eight years ago. these are a lot of the voters that nikki haley is going after. college-educated, suburban, et cetera. you know the drill. we will see if she can keep that away from ron desantis. that is happening on the east
6:05 pm
side of the mississippi river. over on the missouri side we can pop down and check in on pottawatomie. 10% of the vote counted right now. trump is hanging on. i want to emphasize to our viewers at home that we've got a ways to go. 105 rob votes. 26 raw votes. let me see if i can change the screen. there it is. 13 raw votes for vivek ramaswamy. it will move throughout the night. one cool feature we've got this year is we don't have to do math live on the air anymore. this button right here if you are watching at home or on your computer or mobile device it shows you the raw votes between first and second place. in any particular county or even statewide. we can click on it and it changes the percentage point. donald trump is up 43.8 points. that's the way it is tabulator right now based on the raw vote early at 10%.
6:06 pm
give me a moment. let's go down to some of the rural counties along the missouri border. eight years ago ted cruz did very well. donald trump had a mix and match throughout that contest. it was evangelicals. maybe they weren't sure of donald trump. what were his positions? how would he govern? we only have a taste of that here in the south. the reason i point this out is because you are at 18%. trump is just below 70% with 52 raw votes reported. now i will try something. i will go back in time and see for the moment with 18% of the vote in. i know it's early. let's go back in time and c8 years ago how this ended up. trump is in red, crews and blue carson in yellow on this map. trump was the winner by a grand total of 23 raw votes which computes to 2.7 percentage points in up a news county.
6:07 pm
if this were to hold up, let's come back to realtime now. with me. if this were to hold up, this is trump's game. this is what he wanted to do. when the rural and drive the numbers up. we talked about so many different states across the country. never more so than iowa. go back and see the change that happened between 2012 and 2016 and again in 2020. really has run this state red ever since he got in that race in 2016. let's try one more. i want to pop in here because you have 7% reporting. that is just north of us in des moines. ames iowa, iowa state university. if you are going to have a good race between nikki haley and ron desantis throughout the night this is one of the parts of the state that you will be thinking about. i will go back in the time machine for just a second.
6:08 pm
marco rubio, eight years ago was in this light blue color. look he did well in story counting down here in polk and to the west of us in dallas county for a lot more suburbs in an area where he still at 7% and still a pretty good race between one and two that we anticipate will last throughout the entire night. whether or not vivek can bump his numbers up into double digits. we will be watching the mississippi river and all these counties up and down. i mentioned black hawk a moment ago. still early, 5%. we will see how that breaks down throughout the night between the blue team in the orange team. desantis, haley and vivek ramaswamy and green. back to you, sean burke we will fire this bad boy up.
6:09 pm
i told brett earlier we have some new cylinders and that this year. we will see how we drive on the icy and snowy roads. >> i will say the people of iowa, first of all the greatest people on earth. they feed the country and feed the world. they work hard and play by the rules, pay their taxes and obey the laws. they spoke loudly tonight. >> they put up with us every four years. >> we could live without them minus 20 below. that was a little rough. great job. we will get back to you throughout the hour. former president donald trump telling foxnews.com he feels greatly honored and invigorated after being projected to win the iowa caucuses. here with the reaction we have kellyanne conway, ari fleischer. they were able to call this literally within seconds. the largest margin that any previous republican candidate had won by was bob dole, which was 12.8%.
6:10 pm
it looks like this will be a much wider margin tonight. what are your expectations? what does this do for president trump? what impact will it have on governor desantis and nikki haley in terms of the battle for second? >> if you look at trump's dominance across every group he won he will win young people and first-time caucus goers. he will dominate the evangelical christians, women. you name it. trump is dominating. it's a full-scale victory for him tonight where he gets to 50% or not, it doesn't matter. what's my expectation that they can carry on? tonight trump got the show. they are so far behind him. when you go into a state like south carolina which is winner take all where nikki haley was a governor, that's where jeb bush and others fell out of the race. trump got about a third of the vote, the raw vote. he got all 42 ella gets coming
6:11 pm
out of south carolina in 2016. this feels like 2016 in terms of the trump hunger and swagger being counted down and counted out, underdog, underestimated. but not underfunded and understaffed. 2016 trump with the 2017 and 2020 record. it's a unique position. >> you were there. it was apparent to me that the organization, which was nonexistent, you can argue or fairly nonexistent. no offense to the people that worked on the iowa campaign in 2016. compare now versus then, night and day. >> ivana trump told me they were opening up folding tables and chairs and helping. she was pregnant at the time with their third child. just trying to organize caucus areas and volunteer tables. this is very different. the team left nothing to chance. they have a great ground game together, this trump caucus had
6:12 pm
is a great collectors item. others went to the airwaves. all the third-party groups coming in late for nikki haley chose to knock on doors but to go to the airwaves. it's not going to bear as much fruit. you said something important at the top. you are discussing the trump detractors and haters. they look so ridiculous time aftertime. it's always the wheels coming off the bus. this is the time we will get donald trump. most voters are saying we don't need to get our country back on track. energy independence and the homeless out of the cities. the prices are out of control. 8 million people at the border. >> almost 10 now. 2 that is what people are saying. think if people had spent a fraction of the time they spent obsessing over trump on understanding the trump voter, then they may be competitive for biden. one of the best things that happened to donald trump is joe biden.
6:13 pm
he contrast his record to joe biden's record. people are saying that. i think he's been in the general election strategy since last summer. calling on biden and not just making fun of his agility and ability. calling him out on afghanistan and killing the keystone pipeline jobs. calling him out on the homeland security director not even willing to call the border crisis. really challenging joe biden. i think there are democrats that would love to run against joe biden but will watch joe biden and kamala harris bleed out and let trump when it. i think trump got blamed 14 months ago unfairly in the midterms is the best chance the republican party has two flipped the senate and retain the house. >> a lot of that was based on abortion. >> and we had some bad candidates. you can't fall asleep. you have to do what he does. show up and put up. >> you cannot fall asleep and
6:14 pm
get a campaign? i did not know that. 2 he is not running for governor. >> let me bring ari fleischer in. i've been saying that donald trump fis all conventional political gravity. usually you would think that if somebody gets arrested or if somebody gets indicted that the pole numbers would go down. every case it has gone up. i wonder if it's been such overkill. this started the day that he and melania trump came down the escalator leading into three long years of what was nothing but lies and conspiracy theories peddled by fake news cnn, msnbc, the new york times in the washington post. they all seem to be wrong. they were all wrong, rather. i wonder if in some odd way it took a man like donald trump and they actually have turned him into a victim and people see through this. none of what they now do matters
6:15 pm
to people because of all the fundamental unfairness that led up to this point. >> sean, we have gaps in this country. people say there is this gap and that gap. the biggest gap is between the mainstream media and the american people. specifically college-educated democrats who are really reporters, the mainstream media, nbc, abc, washington post. the failure to understand the country they live in outside its elite bubbles. they do not understand the rural voters of iowa. they will parachute in, interview them, talk about what the people believe and then leave and not understand their way of life and way of thinking and the way of being raised in a gun culture or fishing. it's such a disparate group of people. the majority of course are those types of americans who are not the college-educated democrats reporters. that's why they missed the story of 2016. that's why i think you have so
6:16 pm
many people cheering for the defeat of donald trump who are out of touch with such a huge swath of his country. donald trump, to his credit, is intuitively in touch with them. you are saying that tonight on the ground in iowa. these results are staggering if they hold up for president trump. history is important. donald trump is shattering it this year with the margin of his victory. even if he falls short of 50, the margin between first and second is massive. i do think it still is important and we all need to recognize new hampshire as a very different electoral makeup then iowa does. far more college-educated, far more moderate. that would play to nikki haley's benefit you would presume. if she wins second in iowa of will boost her to new hampshire. haley's problem based on tonight is she has got to crack conservatives. she cannot win on the basis of liberal, moderate republicans
6:17 pm
alone with help from independence. she's got to do better among true blue conservatives. that is where in iowa there is no evidence that anybody can run against donald trump. >> that's interesting. i've always felt that the fact new hampshire allows independents to decide whether they prefer to vote in a democratic primary or republican primary. great analysis. thank you. great to see you as always. thanks for joining us on set today are joining us now with more fox news contributor newt gingrich. dniester speaker, you became part of a big ad that the trump campaign or somebody put together. i'm not sure if it was a super pac or a campaign. you voice it over and make the corruption of the clintons and the bidens. i don't know to what degree that played a role tonight. but certainly it did not deter many people in iowa tonight for voting for donald trump. what your analysis?
6:18 pm
>> as you know, i almost never write anything down. i was listening to the two brilliant people. you had two of the best analysts on american politics that we have. i have five quick points. one, this is the people's victory. despite every media and despite every lawsuit and every effort to destroy trump, the people of iowa have stood up and said no, he is our candidate. number two, he is the nominee. get over it. he is the nominee. he will win the nomination. the news media doesn't want to say it because they need to hype and watch us while we go through this charade. there is no candidacy for number two. there is no number two. there are irrelevancies. you are leading irrelevant or the second or third irrelevant. nobody will be number two. he will dominate totally if you look at the country at large. is at 62% or 64% approval.
6:19 pm
trump is not a candidate. trump is the leader of a nationwide movement to take power back from the establishment. that is why every time he is attacked by the judiciary and by the news media he gets stronger. people know that is what i thought. that's exactly what the corrupt people will do. starting with the russian hoax. it is clear these people why all the time. finally, iowa has turned red. when i first got into politics iowa was was a very competitive state. sometimes it was a democratic state. over the years iowa has moved away and trump is a big part of this. if you look at the elections in iowa today, they are republicans. look at the party that is collapsing, it's the democrats. that's a harbinger of what the next few years will be like. that's my sweeping introduction. >> as a side note i need to remind people that when i was in atlanta, georgia i was the mc
6:20 pm
and you became speaker of the house. i would often be the emcee of events you spoke at. you wrote down notes tonight just so people understand how profound that is. every time you were to give a speech about five minutes before the speech you would call me over and ask if i had a pen. he would take a real cloth napkin and a sharpie or a marker and would right down three or four things. you throw it on the podium and that was your 45 minute speech. that is profound that you wrote it down tonight. that's how far back we go together. mr. speaker, you helped make my life a part of history and i am grateful. thanks for joining us tonight. let me ask you one last question. what about second? how important is it for desantis to come in second tonight? >> it's irrelevant. it's like being the nicest person in the school while you lose every game. fine. he can go home and say he did
6:21 pm
the best he could. nikki can go home and did the best she could. vivek ramaswamy can say he did the best he could. none of them will be the nominee, period. it is over. if you had any doubt about this, watch the returns come in tonight. this will be historically the largest margin ever for a republican candidate ever. the american people want him to be the nominee. he will be president because the american people want him to be president. >> last question. the polls were a little tighter and new hampshire. it's a different electorate. ari fleischer mentioned that. the last two polls had trump up by 7 and 20. there was an outlier poll of him up by 4. doesn't matter at all what happens in your mind in new hampshire? >> no.
6:22 pm
look at the worst case he carries 49 states. in the best case he carries 50. >> speaker gingrich, always great to have you. we appreciate you being with us. i haven't said happy new year to year. >> we are in des moines. it's about 20 below zero with the wind chill. rich edson is on location at trump headquarters in iowa. what is going on there? i assume a celebratory move? >> definitely. the crowd is coming in. there was no crowd when they called this thing about an our ago. it happen so early in the evening. the crowd is steadily coming in. they will hear from former president donald trump later on this evening. he was nearby in clive, iowa speaking to a caucus there. he didn't mention his republican rivals. he was focused on current president joe biden and perhaps
6:23 pm
what will be a general election matchup. that's what the circumference supporters are hoping for. they are also watching the clock on this as well. they knew that eight years ago this caucus was called for ted cruz at about 9:30 local time. they beat that by about two hours tonight. they are looking to run up that score in the total store. still unclear buy how much the former president has won the iowa caucuses by. they have been doing what they can at the campaign level. they spoke to us the short while ago saying a win is a win and we are happy with the wind. they want to keep the expectations low. and the candidate is talking about how he is expecting to have a tremendous night. on top of that you have polling across the country in iowa and states across the country that show him up on the field with more than 50% of the vote. they know he needs a big victory tonight. he got it early tonight. we are waiting to see what the
6:24 pm
numbers are. off to new hampshire tomorrow. still the event of trying to get the crowd in here tonight. they are still filing in. >> thank you in iowa tonight. now here with the very latest voter analysis out of iowa, she is the coanchor of america reports. sandra smith is with us. what are we learning from the voters tonight? >> a really interesting stuff is coming in. especially when it comes to the maga voter. it's telling us how president trump is having a really goodni. take a look. this is some of the key findings so far when it comes to the maga supporters in our fox news analysis. more than 6 of 10 caucus voters that identify as maga, the vast majority posted 8 in 10 are breaking for donald trump. he still appears to be king of the mango world. 77%. looking at the moderate voters
6:25 pm
this is the key group we were watching heading into iowa. this appears to give hope to nikki haley. when it comes to moderate voters she doesn't beat donald trump, but she is well ahead of desantis and vivek ramaswamy among moderate voters. this may reflect something about her potential strength in a general election. that's a key take away. let's look at another key group in iowa. that would be evangelical christian voters. this is a sizable group in iowa. we all know that. with this group desantis courted them and was even endorsed by bob vander plaats. they love donald trump. desantis is 40 points behind him and just five points ahead of haley. another key finding with trump is the fact that he is still facing multiple investigations and indictments. we put the question to voters. this for the most part does not appear to be a factor for caucus
6:26 pm
goers. more than half think the former president did nothing wrong on january 6th. half think the same about interference in the 2020 election. that bumps down to 4 in 10 as you can see when it comes to classified documents at his florida home. overall, iowa republicans think the investigation into the former president are political, not legitimate. take a look at this. another key finding in a question we put to voters when it comes to trump charges. close to 8 in 10 say barges are political. only 2 intends a legitimate. speaking of legitimate. more than 6 in 10 caucus goers say president biden was not legitimately elected four years ago. this is when we put this question to voters. those that think biden possible election was on the up and up, they are backing nikki haley.
6:27 pm
those who don't break strongly. close to three quarters for donald trump. finally, one other hot button issue among iowa republicans is what is being taught in schools. we asked about three issues. here is what they said. some of the top findings that we took away from the foxnews fox news voter analysis. school teachers have said k-8 schools are teaching too much about racism. but close to three quarters of caucus attendees think schools are focusing too much on sexual orientation and gender identity. these are sum really revealing numbers. something to dig into. and brand new information just for you. >> great job. fascinating what people think and what goes into the voting on the day of voting. we have new numbers that have just come in. bill is at the big board with the latest. some rural counties are now coming in and the vote count has
6:28 pm
gotten higher. >> two counties in the southeast and also back in new york. this is henry county in the southeast. trump is at 63%. easy leader over nikki haley and ron desantis. this is a rural county. many counties in iowa are rural. we go back in time to eight years ago. you see the way the vote was split? okay. come to today and that's a pretty good number. that's the kind of number the trump team likes to see. cook county is rural as well. look at this. 75 out of 99. this is farmland. this is what feeds america. a lot of time feeds the world. 27% reporting right now. this is an easy lead. if you go back eight years and see the battle.
6:29 pm
hang on one second. go back eight years and see the battle that played out. it was a three way fight. it was a two-way fight among ted cruz and donald trump. the worlds and evangelical voters. here we are eight years later. with me. 76%. they would take that in the trump campaign all night long. anecdotal stuff coming in. as we said earlier, it's early and it will be for some time. >> quick question. let's look at the tota what percentage is in? >> we are at 4%. a couple thousand here and there. >> bill at the big board we will check in throughout the evening. a good chance that donald trump will be addressing campaign headquarters. when that happens we will bring it to you. joining us from a local restaurant in des moines, iowa over.
6:30 pm
>> hey everyone. sean hannity says hello to everybody. i am here at smitty's. one of the most popular diners. they are eating and they are excited. i am hungry and it smells delicious in here. this is one of the most popular diners in des moines, iowa. the weather is not stopping anybody from getting out and doing their duty here in the iowa caucuses. i am here having my own little caucus. i am here with the owner of smitty's. the king of tenderloin. tell me a little bit about what is driving the iowa voter? i think this is a microcosm of what is happening across the country. >> immigration is a big issue. the economy is a big issue for us as small business owners. people are excited to get out invoice the up opinion for the candidate they want. >> are you frustrated with weathers happening in the
6:31 pm
country the last three years? >> small business owners we are frustrated with the economy and the direction it was moving. all of a sudden over the last several years the direction that it went. we've had to adjust and change some things. would like to see a big turnaround. >> do see a light at the end of the tunnel? >> we do with the trump we support. trump all the way. absolutely. >> over here we have got twins. i am so excited. do you guys agree politically or are you divisive here? >> we don't discuss it with each other. >> what are the issues that are most affecting you here in iowa? what are you most concerned about? >> healthcare, education, the schools, more safety in the schools. >> do you feel that is not being taken care of by the current administration? >> no. >> do feel there is hope with
6:32 pm
what you are seeing in the caucus? >> i hope so. >> what is your biggest concern that is not being taken care of? >> just the education, safety in our schools. there shouldn't be any more school shootings. something needs to be done more about it. >> a lot of people have been saying the same thing. i will come over here with a table of folks that have been waiting to talk. you have the make america great again hat. you all are sitting here patiently waiting. what are the issues you are most affected by right now that drive you to the polls and drive you to the ballot box this november? >> we have numerous things. the border wall needs to be finished. immigration. stuff is way out of hand right now. there is a lot of different things. we need to be drilling our own oil. prices need to go down. families are struggling. it is tough out there for everybody. >> would you all agree with that
6:33 pm
here at the table? >> definitely. i am tired of our rights being attacked. every time we turn around it seems our constitutional rights are being attacked just based on public safety. >> a lot of people are talking about public safety. is that something you would agree with as well? >> absolutely. i want to feel safe sending my kids to school. school is not just a place for academics but also social and emotional learning. we want to teach our kids to be productive and respectful members of society. that starts at home and at school. >> any questions for these folks? i have a few people that want to talk to you. >> i am listening to people and it sounds like bread and butter issues. the economy, immigration. we have 60% of fellow americans living paycheck to paycheck. i discussed this with dana who
6:34 pm
will join us in a moment. people are hurting. they see our borders are out of control. borders that were secure. the story you have covered for so many nights. 8 in 10 voters today saying they believe all of these attacks, the legal attacks, the weaponization of our justice system, they think its political. that's a loud statement. maybe there has been a lot of overreach and maybe abuse of the justice system. that stands out in my mind. >> absolutely. that was something you brought up earlier too. the immigration crisis in the country. what about americans? what about what is happening with us economically? there is hundreds of millions of dollars being doled out across not just here in illinois and other parts of the united states, but on a federal level it really is a crisis. >> yeah, i think it is.
6:35 pm
there is a lot of crisis is in america right now. with the list is long. to me the greatest concern is the fact we just can't seem to talk to one another and have civil discord. to work through these issues. to me, that has to happen. >> i know everyone is hoping they can make that happen. i will be having a bite to eat with everybody here in iowa at this great diner. i can't wait. i want to get one chance for this couple to wrap it up. i know you are iowans for desantis. what are some of the issues driving you to be more involved politically this year? >> definitely the economy lady but ultimately to see a person who governs, understanding that our rights come from god and acknowledging that and governed accordingly as opposed to just assuming whoever is president is god. really being able to stand up against some of the ideology that is destroying the american family and ultimately the
6:36 pm
nation. the family is the building block of society. anything that is detrimental to the nuclear family is detrimental to our country. >> there you go, sean. bread and butter issues is what is happening in iowa and across america. i will take a break and get something to eat. i will see you tomorrow night. >> enjoy. i did like the last comment. natural rights. rights are given by god and not by government. a lot of people feel that their values are really being circumvented by bureaucrats. a big issue. school was mentioned a lot today. sarah, thank you and enjoy your meal. we are awaiting remarks from former president donald trump after a huge victory in iowa tonight. we will bring those live when he takes the stage. joining us now is cohost of america's newsroom. she has double duty. dana perino along with a fellow co-host harold ford jr. >> i work for dana.
6:37 pm
glad to be here. >> i am not as funny as greg got failed. >> you are taller, though. seen that there is always an upside. >> you are both great. let's get simple analysis. what happened today? >> one thing i love about our coverage is you have people out there talking. and a viewer can tune in and see a reel live focus group. what is really on people's mines? we can talk about polls. many people are bringing up education in the back to basic issues. gutfeld talked about that. they want government to work well. they're not asking for government to solve their problems. they want to pay taxes and make sure the roads are taken care of and the schools are taken care of and that the national security is taken care of. they don't want government to get in the way of the economy working with supply and demand. that's the way i see this. i think that president trump if you look at the screenshot right
6:38 pm
now, his stage presence is very good. the charisma and politics. the experience of being president and now running again. he didn't debate but has been here and iowa. he will give some remarks tonight. he goes into the strong gust of wind at his back. that kind of scene right there is a good advance. >> harold ford jr., when we first met you were a congressman from tennessee. you now live in new york. i believe new york city. you pay about 13% income tax. >> no need to remind me. >> if you are in tennessee you would pay zero. an amazing disparity in terms of political philosophy. i tried to highlight that when governor desantis debated governor newsom. there was a divide. i don't know how we reconcile on issues of the economy,
6:39 pm
