[cheering] >> not to have somebody take a victory when she had a very bad night. she had a bad night. >> steve: new hampshire governor chris sununu, who backed nikki haley will join us and tim scott, who backed the former president, both this hour.

>> ainsley: immigration the top issue just like in u wa. >> illegal immigrants coming over the border, tens of thousands, it is frustrating for myself and other small business owners and people that did take the legal pathway to get here. >> brian: dwayne the rock johnson opening up and talking about one dream that did not come true. >> it was always pro football. i thought, if i can make it to the n.f.l., i can buy my parent's their first home, that never happened for me. >> lawrence: third and final hour of "fox and friends" starts now and remember mornings are better with friends.

carolina? >> bryan: the plan is to move on to south carolina. she has a rally in charleston tonight. the campaign just released two ads, take a look. >> nikki haley delivered thousands of jobs, lower taxes, tough immigration law, same old biden and trump or new conservative leadership? >> bryan: yeah, the other adsays biden and trump are too old and promises she will cut taxes and defeat communism. she is on to her home state. haley lost by double digits in new hampshire last night. polls have trump up by 30 points or so. trump has the backing of mcmaster and other members of congress from that state.

haley insists the race has just started. >> this race is far from over. there are dozens of states left to go. >> let's not have somebody take a victory when she had a very bad night, very bad night. >> brian: as far as those endorsements, haley loves to remind folks she defeated mcmaster in the 2010 election. this is the battle she is battling, the campaign says super tuesday not south carolina is ultimate barometer if this will be a race. >> brian: do you think she is surprised she got within 12? what were internals indicating? >> bryan: great question. i've been asking about the internals and did not receive a

straight answer. nobody would commit to a number. no surprise they released a memo yesterday saying they were going to super tuesday. there was real expectation of what happened last night and now they are saying they did better than what pundits were saying. super tuesday, they woke up yesterday morning and sent out this memo in anticipation of the result we got. >> steve: that is right and the haley team told you 5-10 primary voters don't support donald trump and she's staying in the race as the designated survivor in case anything goes hay wire with donald trump's race and he's going to drop out. this factors into how moderate republicans said the way to beat trump, so many republicans running in the primary, wittel

it down to one-on-one and the nontrump voter would coalesce around whoever that person was. looks like that is the thinking behind the haley camp. >> bryan: new hampshire was favorable ground because of independent voters. 11 of the 16 states, massachusetts, virginia, north carolina, they arngsllow independents to vote. they want this race to be about delegate count not about margins. in the win column, not great for her, if you make it about the delegates, it is competitive through tuesday. >> ainsley: trump has 31 delegates and nikki haley has 16. this was historic win for donald trump, won iowa and came to new

hampshire and won. has not happened since 1976. bob dole won and donald trump with 30 points, won over 75% of real republican voters. what is next? it is not south carolina, it is nevada. trump will likely win nevada. nikki is not part of the caucus there. real clear politics average has him up 30.2% and has support of mcmaster, nancy mace, among others. going forward, she says she is staying in the race and that is okay, she has money to do that, a lot of people like her, she gets the independent vote. what is her plan going forward? >> lawrence: you really make the question plain. what is the path? someone on the campaign, maybe not the candidate, maybe

staffers, will have to explain to republican primary voters how in a republican primary 70% of people that voted for you according to exit polling, were not republicans, 70% in a republican primary. i know candidates and maybe her campaign strategy to skip to the general. you can't skip to the general when you have not won one state, especially when you are skipping nevada. you only skip if you know you are going to lose. talking three losses before we get to south carolina and polling indicates that will probably be donald trump's strongest performance. when you get ronna mcdaniel and those caa lesing behind donald trump, big question is not just the path, what are donors that want to go to the old republican party back to that, will they stay behind nikki haley?

she has their vote now, she will need more. >> brian: she raised $1.5 million since desantis dropped out. langone said he is waiting until after new hampshire before he gives money to nikki haley. voter analysis tells people what they care about that showed up, 41% of new hampshire said immigration. economy is number two at 31, foreign policy 8% and 5% abortion. the bseparation between haley ad trump is foreign policy. the president is like, make a deal with israel. she wants to get aid to israel, people say our border first. that is the debate. other issues are similar. >> steve: you mentioned the iowa caucus a while ago, one voter

analysis question, when did you decide to vote for the person you did? lawrence a moment ago, unaffiliated voters, 62 went to haley and donald trump got 36 of un, affiliated. who decided after watching iowa at the caucuses, 54% said i'm going with nikki haley and 42% went with donald trump. >> ainsley: yesterday lawrence was talking to diners and one lady had a powerful story. she owns a small business eshg employing people, worrying about paying for college and paying individuals their taxes and that is stressful. that is an issue. the economy. you are talking about immigration and you talked to a lady this morning in the diner who said this is a big issue for her. >> eight people work for me are

from brazil, they came here through a legal pathway. they spent tens of thousands of their hard-earned dollars to become legal citizens. who doesn't want to live in this country? best country in the world, i understand why people want to come here and better themselves, before we do that, we need to take care of those that give us freedom to live in this great country, our veterans. we can't even take care of them, illegal immigrants coming over the border, it is frustrating for myself, other small business owners and people that did take the legal pathway to get here. >> lawrence: yeah, and new studies coming out that 60% of folks coming across the border illegally are on welfare. we have record inflation and americans living paycheck to paycheck.

you know, remember that immigration is a signature issue of the former president. you don't want that being number one issue on voter mind going into this election. >> brian: this is the closest diner has got to you. they cross behind you, they look like they are lining up to take you out like you are about to catch a punt and number two. looks like, i fear sometimes they are coming for you. lawrence, the other thing to keep in mind, people want to see this back and forth. it costs money, people don't mind seeing the debate. >> steve: lawrence was talking about the sound bite with the woman who employed people from brazil. she mentioned veterans. i talked to people at bedford high school and it was across the board. i spoke to a woman and her husband who were democrats.

historically had voted for joe biden last time and were undeclared. they asked for a republican ballot, they wanted to vote for donald trump because they felt like when donald trump was president, he actually had the back of the military. >> ainsley: lawrence, i know you are going to talk to the diners, you have a medley of people, democrats, independents that like nikki haley, some republicans that like trump. >> lawrence: yeah, this is important, when we talk to the diner, they are essentially america. it shows what is going on. let's talk to the people here. what is most important issue to you? >> the border. >> lawrence: why the border? >> we are giving illegal people coming in so much and our own people are not being given enough. >> lawrence: and then you have 16% of them on welfare. you are right about that. let's talk to other people.

i was talking to y'all earlier today and you told me the same thing, number one issue for y'all is border. why the border? >> i'm very concerned about who is here for terrorists, we know they have come across and it is not a matter of if something happens, it is when. not to mention people that came here, immigrants that have come legally and gone through the process to become american citizens, it is a slap in the face for them. i don't have a problem people wanting to come to the united states, come legally. the process could be more simple, it is difficult. >> lawrence: who are you supporting? >> trump also. >> lawrence: this is ladies round table here. i was talking to you earlier and you told me, it is not just the border, the border is national

security issue. talk to me about that. >> absolutely, i've seen videos and it is awful. i worry about the safety of our country and it is up this way in new hampshire. so that is the big thing for me, immigration, safety of our kids. >> lawrence: how many ladies at this table agree border and immigration is number one issue? >> absolutely. >> lawrence: absolutely? show of hands. who is best candidate to solve that out of nikki haley and donald trump? >> donald trump 100%. >> he's proven he can negotiate with mexico and ensure our safety in terms of there were a lot less of this happening coming over the border. >> lawrence: thank you, ladies. you continue to hear immigration and because of the record, i think that is what it is. i don't think people say they hate nikki haley, former president has a record on that.
