"america reports". both sides digging their heels in even further today as the biden administration is warning abbott he has until tomorrow to remove the razor wire fence along the border park. >> sandra: but texas says it has no such plans to do so, and is even bolstering the fence. right now, in recent days migrants are shocked they are not being helped across the border by texas agents.

>> peter: that's what democrats wants. one says i agree if abbott is defying the supreme court ruling potus needs to establish sole federal control of the texas national guard. at the moment, the texas national guard and the u.s. cbp are given two different sets of instructions. texas -- the texas national guard is ordered to line the southern border with razor wire, keep people out. while u.s. cbp, cut the razor wire in case of emergency. >> we have national guard as well as texas department of public safety officers who are there to make those arrests and to deny illegal entry. and joe biden actually does have an option here. joe biden's option is to enforce the laws of the united states and stop this illegal entry. >> peter: but president biden just is not talking much about this publicly to the point that it would be a real surprise if we hear anything from him about

this in his prepared remarks later on this afternoon. sandra. >> sandra: keep us posted, and we will listen as well. peter doocy, thank you. >> jacqui: the border crisis is not just firing up republicans, also igniting calls for change from democrats in deep blue cities like chicago. black voters are upset about the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on arriving migrants as schools and clinics close down in their neighborhoods due to a lack of funding. garrett is live in chicago with more on this. this could be an issue for democrats come november. >> absolutely, jacqui. you have lifelong democrats who have never once in their life voted for a republican who are now saying they are leaving the party or at least considering another option over this. there is just a huge amount of outrage in black neighborhoods across chicago over the migrant crisis. in how leaders in this deep blue city and state have spent nearly $800 million to take care of the migrants while ignoring the lack of resources in black communities that has been happening for decades.

families. >> sandra: that shocked a lot of people. about 30 miles west of chicago, a councilman has gone viral for challenging his district to back up their beliefs and their yard signs by housing illegal migrants. tongue in check proposal aimed at wealthy residents who support the open border policies. joining us now is josh mcbroom in naperville, illinois. thank you for joining us. good to have you on the program. i feel i should be honest with our audience. when i first saw that video, first it struck me because i grew up in the town next door, it is a very deep blue area, dupage county, wealthy residents. i thought it was a serious proposal, you suggesting how to handle the crisis, but it was more tongue in cheek. what is your message there? >> thanks for having me on, sandra. i think maybe my dead pan delivery might have been too

good. and -- >> sandra: you had me fooled. >> tongue in cheek, sure. was it a challenge to biden voters, yes. was i sincere, you know, people are saying oh, he was making a joke, it was a political stunt, but listen, i live in a town that went 20 points for biden in the election. i saw hundreds of biden signs. a lot of these individuals have actual signs in their yard that say no human is illegal. the>> sandra: you sent us some pictures, if our producers can put them up. i said send them to us. sends us the signs you see up all over the town there, which led to you saying this. go ahead. >> yeah, so you know, i -- it's a disaster, right. what's going on in chicago and -- it is -- it is inhumane. this open border policy is inhumane. so the compassionate crowd that cares, you know, this is the result and listen, there are

thousands coming into the area, thousands, and in chicago is telling the suburbs they have to do their part. i didn't vote for this. i didn't support this policy, i don't believe in open borders. but you know what, we got a problem now, a lot of homeless people, dead of winter, and you know what, here is a sign-up sheet, you know, live your virtue, and am i being provocative, sure. but maybe it's time to be provocative. here is where we are, we have a problem and it's a housing problem right now, and i don't know another way to get kind of leafy suburban hate has no home crowd individuals who support this policy to get motivated to contact your legislature because it's like anything else, put it in the neighborhood and i bet people in suburbs all over the country, blue areas, maybe pulling their signs out of the yard right now, or they are like oh, my gosh, are we really talking about, you know, i didn't mean my house, i didn't mean my neighborhood.

so you know, a lot of people have miscontrued, a lot of people on the right are coming at me, i'm not used to that, usually from the other side, that's fine. i can take the arrows but i'm glad there is a conversation like hey, this is a boiling point and if you supported this, i don't know. maybe you open your house up. >> sandra: has anybody taken you up on your proposal? have they signed up to house migrants in their big homes? >> interesting, i haven't had a single person say where's the sign-up sheet, is it ready, i would like to open my house up to illegals. >> sandra: when i called you yesterday morning, i saw the video going viral and i know naperville very well, i've never heard anybody in that town talk like that. what's been the response to what you said there? obviously you are not getting the sign-ups, but i mean i can imagine you ruffled a lot of feathers. >> yeah, people are starting to get the message and the progressives in town, they are largely quiet. they heard what i said and they want no part of it, right. they know exactly what i'm

saying. the media spin on my comments and the sound bites have made, you know, some of my supporters on the right, like what's this guy doing, is he inviting migrants here? did you see martha's vineyard, nobody is signing the sheet, ok. so -- i think that message can get out. >> sandra: i don't know if you are a democrat or republican. >> i'm a lifelong republican. >> sandra: copy that. very rare in that neck of the woods. there are similar proposals out there, this is new york city and massachusetts democrats made similar proposals, i think these were serious, josh. listen here. >> there are residents who are suffering right now because of economic challenges. they have spare rooms. cheaper and good investment for us to go to a family. >> if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family. safe housing and shelter is our most pressing need. >> sandra: so that's interesting.

i ransom brain room stats, josh, on the number of migrants obviously showing up there in chicago, but now they are putting them on trains and busses and they are sending them out to neighborhoods like naperville, wheaton, they are putting them on the metro trains there. and these neighborhoods are -- they are running out of space, too. but after you said that in that city council meeting, the naperville mayor and another councilmember responded directly to your proposal. here is what they said jan 16. >> i would be concerned about our liability and potential screening and necessary things that are involved in trying to connect families to shelter migrants and exposure we would have as the city level. >> i don't think i would support even that much on projects like this, barring a request from staff that we have heard from the community. >> sandra: concerned about our liability and potential screening? well, maybe they should think about that when they come over

defamation trial has wrapped. what is the latest from there? >> court session this morning, wrapped for lunch, back just after 2:00 p.m. eastern time. basically alina habba, the former president's attorney, tried to get the case dismissed but that was denied by judge louis kaplan. told the court that e. jean carroll has not proven the case. it's a defamation case, dealing just on damage, not the facts of the case. an earlier jury last may has already found that mr. trump was liable for sexually assaulting e. jean carroll the writer in a dressing room in 2019 and found he defamed her with his denials and continued attacking her publicly and on social media during the presentation, miss habba said there is no causal

connection to the backlash that existed before president trump spoke out, saying in other words, there's no connection between the former president's statements and any damage or actions that miss carroll suffered, basically saying miss carroll did not prove her case period. that was though denied by the judge. the first witness basically a hostile with it for the president trump's team was carol martin, a former television news anchor in new york, a 30-year friend of e. jean carroll, embarrassing texts coming out that miss martin said she was acting scary, that she is santa at the christmas parade, also saying that she's a "drug addict" and her drug is herself. basically the trump team trying to show that in their view, miss carroll is seeking publicity, trying to sell books, by fabricating allegations against the president. and another text to a friend

department briefing. houthi terrorists firing three ballistic missiles. so far, at least 153 attacks against u.s. forces since october 17th in the middle east. robert greenway on our military posture, but first alex hogan is live on the ground in tel aviv. what do we know about the new sanctions against the houthis? >> hi, sandra, the state department says the u.s. in partnership with the u.k. is slapping sanctions on four houthi military official, all this comes as one day after the iranian-backed military group fired at least three anti-ship ballistic missiles toward a u.s. container ship in the gulf of aden. one of the missiles fell into the sea. u.s.s. gravely shot down the other missiles. no reports of injuries on the ship. in gaza, we monitor the war.

idf says it's carrying out targeted raids and claims to have found new military compounds in khan younis, where the military had fully encircled. relief agency for palestinian refugees says the shelter compound was hit. idf denies it was involved but talked with tom white, the director, and says 13 people are dead and nearly 60 are wounded. >> we are calling upon the israeli army for that to stop. we are asking them to meet their obligations under international humanitarian law to show due precaution and protect civilians caught up in this brutal war. >> new reports that bill burns, the cia director will travel to europe to meet with leaders of israel, egypt and qatar, hope for more negotiations that could

potentially be underway for another hostage deal. >> sandra: alex, thank you. jacqui. >> jacqui: a u.s. official is telling fox news talks between the u.s. and iraq are expected to resume on the future of u.s. military presence there. this as u.s. troops have come under at least 60 attacks from iranian proxy groups in iraq since october. so how would withdrawing from iraq impact the growing tensions in the middle east? we bring in center for national defense director and former senior director of national security council robert greenway. thank you for being here, appreciate your time. >> thanks for having me. >> jacqui: obviously we are hearing this has been scheduled, the pentagon is telling folks these discussions were on the calendar before october 7th, before all of the attacks on our troops in the region started ramping up. does it make any sense now to still have them? >> well, arguably there's a purpose in talking to a partner on the ground, and recipient of

$60 billion of u.s. military assistance since 2015. because of the attacks you mentioned we have undergone, it makes sense to make the demand on our partners, recipients of significant aid, to support and assist and ensure we don't get attacked while pursuing a mission with them and we pay them for, the talks should happen but probably under a different context. >> jacqui: the pentagon is telling folks there are not any plans right now to remove u.s. troops. this is something we are looking at in sort of an abstract way, dependent on a multitude of factors. but you have the iraqi foreign minister saying "we are in the process of setting a date to begin a dialogue to determine arrangements to end this presence. this is a commitment which the government will not back down from and will not neglect any matter that completes national sovereignty overland, sky and waters of our dear iraq." is part of this messaging to a domestic audience or what they want? >> no, it's not what they want,

it's messaging to a constituency that they have to sort of explain the rationale and purpose for american presence there but take into account the foreign presence is an irritant inside the country under iranian influence. they are the recipients of aid. up until at least december, providing them u.s. dollars, so their economy in large measure exists at our discretion, and they know it, and again, security assistance we provide keeps them alive. >> jacqui: do they want us to stay there if they are going to publicly say this, and increasingly under the influence of iran? >> that's the hard part here to understand. and so at the same time we are there to pursue a valid mission, disrupting isis attacks against the united states, we are allowing iran and surrogates and sponsors to attack us, so the demand ought to be for the

>> sandra: we are moments away from the court hearing in atlanta where a co-defendant in the trump racketeering case is seeking access to records showing d.a. fani willis' office, including her alleged lover, special prosecutor nathan wade, coordinating with the biden white house before charges were filed against former president donald trump. charlie hurt knows a lot about this, joining us now, washington times opinion editor and fox news contributor. could this alleged office romance derail this entire election interference case? >> i think without a doubt and i think it's starting to create unbelievable problems.

there are real ways, immense pressure on ms. willis now to step aside. i'm sort of doubtful she's going to do something like this, but republicans in the legislature moving to introduce legislation to sideline her. i would argue a lot of the damage is already being done right now because it turns this whole case into a freaking soap opera highly entertaining to watch but democrats have not controlled georgia in decades. their first shot at controlling georgia in probably, what, 30 plus years, and these are a different type of democrat. democrats used to be conservative in georgia. now this is like a whole different -- so just like voters for the first time are like getting a taste of can democrats lead, and you have this stuff going on. it is a ridiculous soap opera and then of course it's going on while you have an actual presidential election. >> sandra: oh, there's that.

deposition, it's a transcribed interview which means it's not under oath. however, of course, lying to congress is a big no-no. now, mervyn yan is a former business associate of hunter biden, the connection comes through cefc, a defunct now chinese energy company that once had ties to hunter biden and mervyn yan, and the communist party of china. the company has since shuttered, but according to oversight investigators, yan is asked questions of money that came through cefc and various companies making its way to joe biden, specifically, jacqui, $40,000 payment listed as a loan repayment from the president's sister-in-law sarah. oversight chairman james comer says the origin of the money comes from cefc which benefitted from the chinese communist government. this interview today is part of the impeachment probe of president biden.
