[laughter] pete: thanks, will. thanks. will: all right. no joke about what's happening at the southern border. check it out, record-breaking illegal immigrants encountered. december, 302,000 illegal immigrant encounters x that puts the fiscal year -- which begins in october -- up to 785,000

illegal encounters. carley: yeah. this is the first time border encounters have ever hit the 300,000 mark. the 200,000s have been very high, now we've reached the next digit. bill melugin posted this, a reminder, these numbers have been known internally for a long time. we had them leaked to us weeks ago. they were officially released, this is the key, late on a friday afternoon after the white house presser and right as trump's jury decision news came out. trying to hide those numbers. we got 'em though. pete: friday night dumps are good for us because we cover them and, thankfully, we have a lot of wonderful viewers, so we still get the information out are there about what's happening. that fiscal year number of 700,000, i find -- i could be wrong, that's close to an annual number. just not that long log at the border. carley: and the fiscal year starting in october. pete: so don't go numb to these numbers. this is the absolute invasion of our nation. and that's why you see -- will,

you pay a lot of attention to this, the standoff in texas, whether it's that park or the raise corps wire and the concern razor wire and the 25 governors backing governor abbott down there -- will: that's half the country. half the country has said we're with texas. pete: we're with texas in this showdown as the biden administration fights to tear down razor wire, again, tear down obstacles, texas is saying come and take it with our razor wire. karine jean-pierre, the white house press secretary, talked about this standoff with texas and what it means, talked about the governors. here's what she said. >> reporter: does the president have any response to at least 25 republican governors signing a joint statement supporting texas in the standoff with the u.s. at the border? if. >> so here's what i would say, my we message to those how many governors in that letter? >> reporter: i believe it's 25. >> 25 governors? i would say to them that, are

they -- you said republican governors? >> reporter: yes. >> i would say to them that if they truly want to help with the issue at the border with the immigration system, that they need to talk to their, they knead to -- need to talk to the congressional members, the senators in their state. that's what they need to do. pete: so, guys, they're trying to continually offload this as if it's big with legislation that will solve this as opposed to enforcing the border and the laws on our books. carley: yeah, exactly. and one of governors, kristi noem, she is, of course, supporting texas. she was on "the story" yesterday at the southern border. listen to what she had to say. >> i, as the governor of south dakota, see the effects of joe biden ignoring federal law and allowing this invasion every single day in my home state. the funneling of the human trafficking and the drugs comes across this border, comes into my state through my travel and reservations, it devastates my people. i'm proud to stand with governor

abbott and his people here working to keep america safe. will: i want to go back to karine jean-pierre for just a moment. there's a word that i would like to use, and the reason i want to use it is not because it's inflammatory, but because it is the most accurate word that the you can conjure up to describe what she's doing there, but i can't. and it's not spin. it's b.s.. because that is a line of b.s. that is not working, that is completely blatant. they're going to try to make it work still, but it's working on a decreasing percentage of the american population that is represented by more than 25 governors. you've got mayors, chicago, new york. you've got the effects of this, this things that he metastasizing out of control. and you saw a letter from the former the fbi -- carley: chris swecker signed it. will: yeah. we're on a road to a bad terrorist attack that we are not just enabling, but encouraging by allowing this problem to go this way. and you're not going to simply get up there and be able to b.s.

that,s ah, it's if the republican governors would, republican congress would pass comprehensive reform. no. enforce the laws at the border now. and i'm telling you, social media always makes you -- it's not just republicans that are saying this nhl it's not. carley: no p. you look at what's going on in chicago with all the people in chicago on the south side now saying this border crisis, a lot of people on the south side want a vote to overturn their sanctuary city status because they're realizing what happens when you have a flood of illegal immigrants come in and it's taking from their resources. you mentioned that letter signed by the fbi. here's one of the reasons why, because the terror screening data a base with arrests for december of last year, 19, and then fiscal year so far has been 50. 49. one on our northern border, that's where the 50 comes from. pete: and that's why donald trump has come out and said

don't make this giveaway deal that, of course, you mentioned how the white house with is going to say, well, we couldn't secure this concern it's a bad talking point that karine jean-pierre's trying to peddle. don't give in to a bad deal that won't actually fix the board or because they could if they wanted to, and they won't. they just want to fund ukraine. a as a result, stand on principle. texas, stand right there on your razor wire. enforce that doored with or -- border as best you can. really the only thing you can do is look at your watch because this administration has shown they don't want to close the border. carley: and did you see that border patrol came out after the supreme court decision, they came out and said they're not tining to do it. can you imagine those images of border patrol cutting razor wire and what kind of message that sends? will: we'll have one of those governors live on the program at 9:40 eastern time, governor brian kemp of georgia. carley: yeah, or that's right. other news on the campaign trail front front. president biden, he's going to

it. it is incumbent on us to let people know who bring it to them, frankly. we have historic accomplishments in terms of the economy, what we've done to move forward. science, technology and investment in the american work force, growing the american work force, rising wages, bringing down prices. historic work has happened, no question. were. carley: yeah. i like that whole -- it's like she's so apologetic for not taking enough credit. [laughter] will: frankly. pete: frankly. will: it's incumbent upon us to let people know what we've given them, frankly. carley: yeah. pete: by the way, they're trying to retire the phrase bidenomics. i mean, because joe won't stop saying it. he won't stop taking credit and frames it bidenomics, and then staff's, like, sir, the polling shows people don't like bidenomics -- carley: you put your name on a bad economy. pete: people don't know what a it is, and then you've got

kamala running around, we're not taking enough credit, frankly. [laughter] carley: it's so true. pete: they're really bad at what they do. carley: also this issue of illegal immigration, i've been thinking a lot about a why it was the number one issue in iowa and new hampshire, and it's because it has so many tent tentacles. in your number one concern is national security, you look at the southern border and go, okay, i feel way worse. you look at the economy and you see your money going to people that just got here illegally through health care and other things, that's why all this is wrapped up together and why this is impacting people in cities and states across the country and why 25 governors have signed on to this letter in support of texas. that's a sound bite by karine jean-pierre, i don't think she knew about that letter at all. she didn't know that half the country's governors supported a letter in opposition to the administration that she represents.

pete: yeah. and at the same time, you look and at your -- around at your culture and stay, hey, there's a guy in the women's locker room. why is that the case? the pocketbook issues, the cultural issue, and that brings us to an update on transgender swimmer lia thomas. he, who wants to swim as a girl, has and won a couple of titles in collegiate swimming now wants to, he has his sights on the olympics. that's ultimately what this is about. yet the olympics has standards that he doesn't like. so lia thomas has gotten to, taken up a lawyer and is mounting a secret legal fight to overturn the ban on him swimming with girls. here's his lawyer. carlos -- [inaudible] if i think, lia has now had the door closed to her in terms of her future ability to practice her sport and compete if at the highest level. she's bringing the case for herself and other trans women to ensure any rules are fair, proportionate and grounded in human rights and in science.

so guys, there must be if stronger standards the at the olympic level that he doesn't like, and as a result, there's a legal challenge now. will: that's right. here's what clay thomas had to say yesterday on fox. >> the fact that the ncaa allowed lia thomas to compete and become a champion, a women's champion, to change the record books helped to set the precedent that this is acceptable. and it isn't. and i give credit to riley gaines and and other female athletes who have spoken out about how crazy this is. but lia thomas hasn't been hiding any of this. the expectation has been that this would be the attempt that lia believes that he is, in fact, a woman and should be able to compete as a women's champion despite the fact that lia is 6-4, over 200 pounds, fully grown man who decided to identify as a woman. after already bin beginning as a men's women or at the university of pennsylvania.

will: by the way, they're telling me offset clay thomas, i don't believe them, but, okay, if i did, i stand -- will: we still think you're perfect. will: clay travis. just insanity. hopefully, the olympic swimming committee -- pete: what part of our recent history would say that they'll reject it? will: i don't know. carley: i think it's interesting that the world governing body of swimming has restrictions when it comes to transgender swimmers. i think that they may be the only sport, major sports have taken that position. will: i'm not sure. carley: so many other sport, especially the ncaa, there was just a rally at the ncaa headquarters because those rules are ones that would allow transgender women to compete and then, you know, at the college level you think about all that is at stake and all the work that women do to get there, and then some of them feel like they're getting pushed aside. it's an issue that doesn't, i don't think, has a real clear

[laughter] will: approval rating of, hey, you know, maybe compete according to the gender that you're born. pete: president dudes, yeah. will: 99 easy. all right. turning now to your headlines, the white house is establishing new guidelines for cabinet notifications in light of defense secretary loud austin's secret hospitalization. they emphasize ised better communication e between cabinet secretaries and staff ors. this change comes as the defense department official says austin is set to make his return to the pentagon on monday. bill: still hasn't been -- will: i didn't know, yeah. [laughter] one county in south florida is cracking down on squatters who are taking over an abandoned and unattended boat. the martin county sheriff says his deputies are removing the boats as say brants concern

pete: the u.s. is now pausing payments temporarily to the united nations relief and works agency, unrwa, in gaza after the u.n. fired 12 staffers over their alleged involvement in the october 7th attacks. but is it too late? the u.s. is the biggest donor to the agency, sending $296 million last year alone and nearly $1 billion since biden took office and reassumed payments -- resumed payments after donald trump had stopped them in 208. if -- 2018. here to react is senior vp for research at the foundation for defense of democracies, jon than schanzer. jonathan, thanks for being here. we should mote9 that donald trump stopped these payments for a reason.

so we knew this agency was involved in nefarious work. now it's revealed potentially involved in the terror it's attack? break it down for us. >> sure. well, it turns out the israelis have been collecting intelligence on this group since the 10/7 attack. it looks like there are about a dozen people that were involved in the murders that took place on october 7th. the israelis have been actually talking to some of the people that hay arrested on that day and some of the fighters that they pulled out of gaza where they've learned more and more about how this organization was directly involved in hamas attacks. this, of course, is not anything new for folks that have been watching this agency over the years. we've seen that there have been hamas fighters firing rockets from within the compounds of the schools and hospitals that they run. their tunnels that snake below. there's weapons storage facilities that they have within these buildings as well. so the israelis have been on top of this for a long time. obviously, the trump administration as well.

there was a series of tweets that mike pompeo put out in the waning days of the trump administration warning of how corrupt and nefarious this organization was, and no one steamed -- seemed to daughter over the last two or three years. that bill has obviously come due. pete: yeah. i mean, jonathan, it must have been evident enough, the intelligence there, if the trump administration stopped funding. we knew this, that if unrwa's able to operate inside the gaza strip or elsewhere, they're doing so at the behest of hamas and what they must have seen is that they'd become an extension of that. so much an extension of that, that they're willing to take part in terrorist attacks on october 7th. they say they're going to pause funding. do you believe that? do you think there'll be a permanent stop or are we going to go back to funding the people that attack our friends. >> i anytime i -- think it depends on how much evidence the israelis are willing to make public. we haven't actually seen what they've seen. i think a huge amount is going

to thing on whether the israelis are willing to declassify that intelligence. and then on top of that, i think the israelis are probably -- you know, if i'm reading the tea leaves right, they're going to release more information about what this organization has been doing over the years, the way that they've taught the kids, you know, beginning at age 4 or 5 to hate the israeli, to talk about marter.com and jihad -- martyrdom and jihad and the way that they've cast the israelis at enemies. so it's an education funding, it's a terrorism problem. hopefully, this is going to be laid bare and there'll be other agencies that can step in. it's not like unrwa has to be the only sergeant agency that does this. there are plenty of other groups within the u.n. that could probably do it better without the violence, without the corruption, without the hamas connections. pete: there's plenty of countries also especially in the muslim middle east that could fund these things as well if they had so much compassion for the people being affected. 9 yet it seems to be us always footing the bill, and yet we're

looking at rain. will: the chicago area facing a two-front ballot, a migrant surge coupled with a related rise in retail theft. in oak brook, illinois, authorities say six migrants from venezuela and chile stole more than $10,000 along with merchandise from a macy's department store. those thefts happening in two separate incidences on the same day. oak brook chief of police says it's only part of a growing problem in his community x he joins us now. chief, thanks for being with us. we hear from the mayor of chicago about how this has become a problem in the city of chicago, but here you are in the sub you ares of -- suburbs seeing the same thing. >> yeah. you know, to put it in context, oak brook is in due page county, we're about 12 miles due west of chicago. there's a much different philosophy in terms of policing and prosecution in dupage county versus cook county. finish the state's attorney and

his team charges these offenses with floor -- burglary most times and files motions to detain. often times those motions are denied, but they're filing those motions, they're charging these people appropriately and trying to get out of this problem. will: let's take a look at what that problem has entailed in your city of oak brook with. from october 23rd to january 17th, i think we can put up on the screen here the number of illegal immigrants arrested is at 47. is so i'm curious, chief, like what kind of increase is that from what you seen in the past? >> it's a lot. it's definitely -- actually, it's at 55 now in that time frame if. and that's taxing the department. our d. is 42 officers sworn, so that's taking officers away from other responsibilities and dedicating them to our retail areas to make sure that we keep ethos areas safe. will: what -- you just brought up retail areas. what kind of crime are we talking about in.

>> well, oak brook has the second largest shopping center in the state of illinois. it's a huge economic engine not only for our village, but also for the state of illinois. and with this increase in illegal migrants coming out and committing these thefts and burglaries, it's definitely putting our department in a position to where we have to respond to this and deal with anything else that we're dealing with on a daily basis. i mean, or as you're well aware, there's no lack of crime in the chicago land area, but to dedicate a significant amount of resources to present these areas is taxing for my police department. -- any police department. will: outof curiosity, with 55 different ares, you have some sample size of the illegal immigration issue in chicago. where are they coming from? >> they're definitely coming from chicago. we're definitely seeing them come out of buses, sometimes in vehicles -- will: i mean originally. are they from central america in mexico? where are they from?

>> mostly from venezuela. most of our arrests are venezuelan migrants. and what we're seeing too is some of them have been arrested by other agencies in the chicago lan area. we even had one incident where we searched a vehicle after the arrest, and there was an i.c.e. bracelet in the vehicle that was cut off by the offender that was previously arrested. is this is a real problem. -- so this is a real problem purchase. and the effects of illegal migrants coming here and exploiting certain elements of this country and not embracing it is certainly felt by agencies, cities smaller than chicago and other areas where they're staying. will: all right. chief brian strockis, thank you for being with us this morning and high lightening this problem. >> thank you. will: coming up, i caught up with dwayne "the rock" johnson. the event he says could revolutionize wrestling, still
