what's the main issue that is the focus of voters in north dakota? >> we fought to protect those two industries from their biggest single threat which is the federal government. fertilizer is more expensive, getting a little harder to make it for the oil and gas industry, the oil and gas industry is about national security and cost of a gallon of gas, being able to see your relatives, created an opportunity for us, any kid who graduates from high school has the opportunity to come back here and we will protect that at all costs. that's why we fight so hard for the industry, what they've done with the amount of energy and investment they brought back to our state. will: we 've seen the growth

economically in populationwise. the governor talked about the success that has been achieved in north dakota so what is your goal should you win governor? >> continue those things but also that massive growth, we have massive growth of government and it was necessary, a town that goes from 1600 people to 16,000, you can't replace the water line, you need a new infrastructure so we face different challenges but as we get closer and move forward we have 2 -- government needs to be smaller, what we really want to do -- will: we are watching a race for governor, thanks for being with us. the president banking on bidenomics heading into the election season. a new study shows 1/3 of small business owners fear they won't make it to 2025.

rachel: nearly 1/3 of small business owners are concerned they won't make it through the end of this year the economy being one of their top concerns. the president can't stop talking about bidenomics. >> president biden: the lowest inflation rate of any major economy in the world, the economic growth is stronger than we had during the trump administration. we all do well, it's called bidenomics. we are doing well economically.

rachel: joining us is the owners manual's tavern, and sergio rodriguez, good morning to you both. what do you think about what the president said? does his characterization of the economy match what you are experiencing? >> we don't feel it. we never struggled as hard as we are struggling now. we've got a 70-year-old business. it is tough. it is really tough. he is out there talking about all the good that they are doing and we don't feel it. we feel like we have been forgotten and it is incredibly frustrating. we filed for all the benefit programs available after covid. they employee retention tax credits. we are waiting on that.

it is very frustrating. it hasn't been administered very well. no one seems to care. we 've got all this money going other places. 10% of that helped small business owners in this country. they get a bigger bang for their buck than what they are getting. rachel: small business owners drive the entire economy. you live in new jersey, what an expensive state, how are things going for you? >> one thing we have to understand when we speak about the economy and what's going on is since biden has been in office, inflation has gone up 20%. that's just a fact. who gets affected most by that? small businesses? we deal with the poor and the middle class more than anybody else and it is landing dead smack on us.

rachel: president biden is saying things are going down but they are going down not to the level they used to be. is that what you are feeling? >> correct. you've got to factor in that small businesses deal with insurance. we deal with obviously the cost of goods, wages, to operate the business, all this stuff has gone up so people that would enter our facilities 2 or 3 times a week are only entering the same business one time a week and we are spending more money to keep the business open. rachel: are you experiencing the same thing, if you raise prices you see fewer customers so it's a catch 22. >> we've been forced to raise prices because of the cost of goods.

our customers are experiencing insurance increases, their discretionary spending has been diminished and they are not coming out as often. sergio is on target. >> i want to get an answer from both of you. the economic growth is stronger than we had during the trump administration. if he said that you what would your message be to him? you go first. >> i would tell him he has bad information, someone is giving him bad information. that's not our experience at all. it has never been harder, it's a struggle, the premise of what we are talking about.
