some of the migrants charged with beating two of new york's cops may have skipped town. likely skipped town hopping on a bus to california. good morning, everybody. bill hemmer tracking the story on a friday. >> dana: good morning. i'm dana perino and this is "america's newsroom." >> bill: i like your red. >> dana: everyone is wearing red because of heart health month. police arrested seven migrants in the attack. most were charged and released without bail. five may have gone on a bus in california. >> you get healthcare and financial age for college someday. >> dana: how chaos at the border is making the crime crisis work. i appeared with paul mauro on "fox & friends." watch this. >> the idea that quality of life is going down is in my eyes irrelevant refuteable to anybody who lives in reality in a blue city, certainly in new york.
6:02 am
i live here. amazing the cops are out there doing this kind of work. >> dana: we begin with cb cotton in times square. hi. >> good morning. five of the migrant men who were charged with felony assault but still released without cash bail have two upcoming court dates between february and march in this case. as to whether they'll show up has yet to be seen. prosecutors and the nypd are investigating a report that some of these men are now on the run. police sources telling me some of these suspects may be headed for california, a community situated right on the border with mexico. my sources also tell me workers recognized these mug shots from the news and alerted them saying the men had used fake names before boarding the bus to california. now all eyes are on the judge and the d.a. who oversaw the
6:03 am
decision to release these suspects without bail. a spokesperson for the manhattan d.a. bragg chalked up that decision at the time by saying in part it is paramount that we conclusively identify each defendant and specify each participants' role in the incident. a sixth subject was arraigned in court yesterday. so far the only suspect to be held in jail. his bail set at $15,000. police say he was the man in the yellow who resisted arrest leading to the brawl. the head of the police union says he wants to know why others involved are not sitting with this man behind bars. >> why aren't they in jail right now? they brutally attacked a new york city police officer and a lieutenant. our criminal justice system is upside down. it fails every day. >> police sources telling me the nypd has identified at least a
6:04 am
dozen other men involved in the initial assault. now officers looking for those suspects. back to you. >> dana: thank you. >> bill: retired nypd lieutenant card nell. the seven involved. put them on screen. here are the names. some are in the country a short time and some have been arrested multiple times already. "new york post" is reporting that one of these church-affiliated nonprofit groups helped them get on a bus and someone did that, right, joe? >> absolutely. >> bill: someone helped them with the i.d. to get them on the bus. so someone knows exact will i where they are at this hour. does the city have the guts to bring them back and pursue justice? >> absolutely not. not with this d.a. the cops will do their job. the judges won't do their job and this d.a. is the nexus for all that's going on in manhattan right now. how many times are we going to watch this as cops are getting
6:05 am
beat up? this isn't the first time. this criminal justice system is geared for the criminals, not geared for what it used to be. for your everyday citizen. it is geared for the criminals. they get the advantage of knowing nothing is going to happen to them when they commit these crimes. this would never happen in days of old because the cops would have the guts to get up there and they would have the backing of the city council to go out there and do their job. we're not talking about cops going out of control. we're talking about giving them the indemnification to do the job. they are afraid to use amaze and night scabbing. everything will be held against them. i spoke to some of the cops. their hands are literally tied. they have to sit there and take a beating like this because they know the only thing that will show if they have the night stick take that out and use it with necessary force to effect that arrest they'll be prosecuted just like the cop in
6:06 am
the apple store. bragg went after him and he is still in trial for that right now and still paying the price for it and the guy who should have been arrested is out there doing the same thing. >> dana: so if these migrants are on a bus from new york to the border in california, i'm sure their cooperation with local law enforcement. would new york police department be sending detectives on the route. >> i would have the bus stopped and bring them back. they should be deported immediately. they will never show up for trial. that's a given. they won't show up to trial. >> bill: you deport them and they cross the border again. >> this time the only advantage now is you have their fingerprints and know who they are. what good that will do it's ridiculous and laughable but it's to the extent the only time politicians are going to do something is when it affects them directly. >> dana: we're watching now
6:07 am
sometimes it feels like we're the only ones that cover the border. that's not the case in this story. it is getting widespread media coverage across the board. sometimes there is a case that changes things. makes a difference. alvin bragg is taking it on the chin here. do you think this could be the case that helps make a difference? >> if it is to his advantage. that's the only time he will do it. he won't do it what he is supposed to do. he is there to prosecute and he doesn't do it. picks and chooses the crimes he wants to prosecute. he will go after the cops because they're easy. governor hochul can remove bragg if she wants to. he is not doing his job. her administration is just as guilty for the attack on cops because when your administration releases 38 cop killers under their corrupt parole board what do you expect? it is a total disregard for police in this city. and as paul said earlier, it is amazing we have the numbers we have still on the job.
6:08 am
we're losing them. we're down 7,000 police officers right now. that's ridiculous. >> dana: i thanked a police officer by text. i'm sorry for the people that attack you and he said there are so many more people who are innocent who deserve our protection and that's why we do it every day and thank everyone. >> you have a marine who could face charges for protecting people on a subway. his attorney is out there talking. you can't avoid this story. you have the video, illegals. went to jail, sprung within hours and the way they double bird the cameras with glee. you can't avoid this. that's why others are covering it. final thought. >> you're right, they do the job day in and day out. but it is a question of how they do the job. their hands are tied. they could have done so much more in this case but they couldn't because they are so -- they're not afraid cowering
6:09 am
afraid, they're afraid of losing their job, being prosecuted because they see it day in and day out with bragg that he is the one going after them and the city council is the biggest blame for this as well. they took the indemnification away from them. >> dana: great to have you. >> bill: thank you. >> dana: this story the father of one of the three kansas city chiefs fans found dead in the snow last month says the preliminary toxicology results are released to police. multiple substances were found in each of their systems when they died. nate foye has the latest. >> so according to several news outlets the men consumed thc, cocaine and three times the amount of fentanyl that can kill. the initial toxicology findings don't necessarily explain exactly how the men died. take a look at the victims here. they were found dead in their friend's backyard two days after a party just over three weeks
6:10 am
ago. they got together after watching a kansas city chiefs game. the full toxicology and autopsy will show if the drugs or hypo thermia killed them. >> what happened here could have been that the four of them used the drugs together. the one fellow who comes in and sleeps on the couch endures, sleeps it off. whereas the other three get sleepy and pass out outside and because of the weather and because of the snow, their body temperature drops very quickly. >> the local fox affiliate in kansas city reports the men's families met with the platt county prosecutor and kansas city police tell fox news the case remains an ongoing death investigation. k.c.p.d. have been in touched with the men's families and remain in contact with them as the investigation unfolds.
6:11 am
the men who hosted the party and survived, jordan willis, is seen here in handcuffs after police found his friends' bodies. kansas city police say willis is not considered a suspect. they do not suspect foul play. a source close to willis's family says he has since checked himself into rehab. the medical examiner tells fox the full autopsy report will likely come out sometime in late march, possibly early april. send it back to you. >> dana: thank you, nate. >> here comes this plane going at this angle and boom. you don't realize what you just watched. >> bill: a mobile home park in florida. a small plane crashed with deadly results. what the pilot called in moments before that plane went down in a moment here. >> dana: a blockbuster jobs report colliding with a surge in layoffs. what does it all mean? how the white house is spinning it this morning. >> bill: east palestine has big

numbers in ohio marking one year since the toxic spill that forced thousands from their homes. president biden will visit there and what the people who live there want to hear next. >> i didn't have to invite president trump to come, but i felt that i had to send out a personal invitation to president biden to come so we can get some of these answers to some of these lingering health concerns. -ugh. -here, i'll take that. woo hoo! ensure max protein, 30 grams protein, 1 gram sugar, 25 vitamins and minerals. and a new fiber blend with a prebiotic. florida. pilot and two people on the ground are dead. the pilot reported engine failure right before the plane went down. there will be an investigation, it might take a year but they'll investigate. >> dana: the u.s. adding a surprisingly strong 353,000 jobs last month. unemployment stays at 3.7%. along with the surge in hiring the new year kicking off with skyrocketing job cuts. what to make of all this edward lawrence is at the labor department. >> this number 353,000 jobs created a big one. but it also the last time that happened was january of 2023, a year ago. now, the 3.7% unemployment rate is bad news for anybody who wanted to see an interest rate cut. you have to take these numbers with a grain of salt. a rebenchmarking. the numbers will be skewed and the report is not carried with a lot of weight like the rest of
6:19 am
the year. trends in this report. for example, government hiring again one of the top four job sectors of growth over the past three months. government hired an average of 40,300 people per month. the report confuses the experts. listen. >> this 353 headline number underscores the point i made about the wild seasonal adjustments for the month of january. again, when we flip the calendar from december to january, the economy loses 3.2 million jobs with all the holiday workers disappear. the ability of the bls to measure that with any, you know, fine point is ridiculous. i think this number will be revised lower. >> there is an underlying weakness that could show up in the next report. career firm found that planned layoffs jumped 136% from december and the january marked the lowest planned hiring for
6:20 am
companies since 2009 when the measure began. we've seen layoffs and announcements from amazon, google, ups, macy's black rock. the his grows daily. increased cost from inflation which is president is blaming companies. >> president biden: after all we've done to bring prices down too many corporations in america ripping people off. price gouging, junk fees, greed inflation, shrink inflation. >> in about 30 minutes i will ask the acting labor secretary about all of this, dana. >> dana: okay. i will call you so you can explain it to me more in depth. everyone should follow edward lawrence. >> do you have any plan to travel to ohio? >> president biden: i've made it clear to them anything they need is available. i haven't had the occasion to go to east palestine. allot going on here.
6:21 am
>> the >> the president will visit east palestine, ohio. tomorrow marks one year since 50 cars derailed spilling toxic chemicals and sparking a fire. the town has not fully recovered. people say they feel forgotten. one resident is here. ashley. thank you for your time. the mayor said i'm a republican. i don't know what your affiliation is and i don't really care. what i would like to know is how you feel about the commander-in-chief finally coming to your town. >> well first off, thank you for having me. and it has been something that we've extended from the beginning. like you set up a dinner party and wait for them to come. we're not coming nouchlt you here again and again and again and you lose your enthusiasm.
6:22 am
that's where we are now. we really needed the help in the beginning and still do need the help, but is anything going to actually be done? will it be a better -- >> bill: the next question, the numbers in your town. 175,000 tons of soil have been taken out. 35 million gallons of hazardous water removed. 100 millionaire monitoring tests collected. there has been no federal disaster declared. the government is saying the train company, norfolk southern, has gone a long way in helping you. do you believe that to be the case? >> i mean, it's really difficult. the majority of what they removed is on their own property with the railroad. we still are asking and have been asking for testing to be done in our homes. it feels like a majority of the people in town are being neglected in the whole cleanup. we aren't given extra tests we request. nothing is really being done for
6:23 am
us. >> bill: so what you would want then is more tests to make sure that the environment in which you call home is okay to live there. >> yeah. i mean if you look at the sheets or they changed the name. if you look at those some workers can only work in these circumstances for eight to 12 hours for one of the chemicals that were dispersed in town. when you think of all those chemicals. >> bill: do you drink the water there? >> no. i'm relocated in a hotel. i haven't lived in my home since february 3rd. i hear a lot of people in town are afraid to drink the water. they are reaching out trying to find anyone giving out water. no one trusts it. >> bill: here was that question at the white house this week. >> when the president is in east palestine will he drink the water there? >> the president's focus has been to do everything that he can to support this community from day one. i won't get into some sort of
6:24 am
political stunt about drinking water. >> bill: i don't know if that happens or not but what is your thought? >> drinking water isn't political in any way. i'm not sure why that statement was even directed to that reporter because it's not the truth. we're here drinking it. i would assume that he would. we started in the beginning drinking water but the chemicals didn't reach the aquifer yet. they haven't had things tested properly and want them tested. why can't he come here and drink from someone's home? >> bill: he has been to maui and florida for the hurricanes. will you welcome him? >> if he is going to do something. this is a human situation. it doesn't matter what party you are from. p if someone is in a burning car and i go to save them i won't say what party are you affiliated with? i won't save you or i won't save you.
6:25 am
we're all people and we're struggling and we're in a terrible situation. nothing like what we had the day before february 3, 2023. >> bill: ashley, good luck still living in a hotel. ashley. >> yes, and if anyone does want to help i have a gofundme. i know that i put it out there. we're stuck on our own right now. we have to make it out on our own. >> bill: thank you for sharing your story. good luck to you, okay? we'll stay in contact. thank you. >> any time you appease nations like iran and others you are asking for more trouble. this is an administration their national security policy and plan is out of control. >> dana: iran getting the kids' glove treatment carrying out aggression in the middle east with impunity. will the biden administration hit back hard after the death of soldier? illegal border crossings. now the migrant crisis shifts to

>> dana: new data slows the border crisis shifting west. the del rio sector, including eagle pass, texas, saw a 76% drop in migrant crossings last month. that was after texas boosted its own efforts to crack down. a large majority of illegal crossings now coming from arizona and california. data from the last week of january shows more than 32,000 migrants were apprehended on the southern border, over 70% caught in arizona and california. we'll see how those governors feel. >> bill: san diego remains one of the worst areas for human trafficking. more than 8,000 people are smuggled across the southern border every single year. one survivor who was kidnapped and trafficked when she was a teenager is sharing her story and it is something else. christina coleman is live with more on that. >> i want to warn you some of the details in this report are graphic. street gangs working for the
6:32 am
cartels are contributing to the onslaught of human trafficking in this border state. human trafficking is a $810 million industry in san diego county alone. law enforcement rescued eight teenagers ranging in age from 13 to 17 years old. also arrested 48 traffickers and criminal buyers. the district attorney says most of the victims involved in sex trafficking in san diego county are local. but about 20% of them are brought from across the border. >> cartels definitely have an influence on sex trafficking. but we're finding that it is more our street gangs, which work for the cartels. >> thousands of victims are trafficked in san diego county each year. this woman says she was one of when them. she shared the horrors of this crime. she was a 14-year-old high school freshman in san diego
6:33 am
when she was kidnapped, beaten, force evidence into a sex trafficking ring and sold in more than a dozen states. she was raped repeatedly and her trafficker would torture her when she tried to escape. >> what i remember is him for the first time physically beating me. and as he is kicking me and hitting me telling me that i can't leave and that if i tried to leave not only would he kill me but would kill my mother, too. >> washington was finally able to escape after 3 1/2 years. now she works with law enforcement to draw awareness to the prevalence of this crime. also just last month during a week-long operation law enforcement agencies throughout california made a total of 539 arrests and recovered 55 victims including 11 who were minors. >> bill: the beat goes on unfortunately. christina, thank you for that in los angeles today. >> iran is being undeterred.
6:34 am
they are pushing us around in the mideast. they won't stop until we hit iran itself. i don't want to invade iran, but i want them to stop killing americans. >> dana: it has been a week since the drone strike from a proxy that killed u.s. soldiers and wounded dozens of others in jordan. for now president biden keeping his powder dry after promising to take action. listen to lloyd austin at the press conference yesterday where he was asked about the telegraphing of attacks. >> has there been too much telegraphing or is the the point not to kill any iranian commanders? >> in terms of telegraphing about strikes and whether or not people leave or would have left, i won't speculate on any of that. i will just tell you that, you know, we will have a multi-tiered response. >> cbc news reported u.s. fangss
6:35 am
confirmed targets have been approved. >> unless the biden administration and u.s. government hits iranian military assets wherever they are, including possibly in iran, i'm skeptical it will have much effect. i believe iranian decision making bakes into the risk their proxies will be hit, the u.s. will respond to the proxies as we have done against the houthis. they have believed by hitting the proxies they, iran's assets and governing capacity is protected. until we start puncturing that risk assessment by them, i think this is futile. >> bill: the other question in the briefing was you are going after infrastructure but sparing lives. now what we learned from the hits in yemen. a lot of those leaders got out of there and those who operate
6:36 am
the anti-ship, the rocket fire, they fled. and the iranian proxies have likely done the same thing already according to jen and lucas tomlinson. >> i think that's likely possible. i just think at the end of the day if you look at all the threats roaming around the middle east these days there is one key source. it is iran. the biden administration believes we can get through 2024 keep going and get through 2024 without an escalation against iran. they have made their peace, quote, unquote, with israel fighting hamas in gaza. they know that they can't contain, but they don't want to see escalation in the region and the u.s. escalating with iran in their minds things has cascading effects and spiral out of control. it's not the u.s. escalating against iran. it's iran escalating against the u.s. the likelihood of the escalation
6:37 am
continuing -- the risk is in not responding. >> dana: david cameron talked about the possibility of a palestinian state in the after math of october 7th. watch here. >> what we've always said is we believe in a two-state solution. secure israel within its borders and a stable palestinian within its borders. that's been our position. as part of that britain and other countries would recognize palestine as a country and recognize them at the united nations. >> i'm struck by this. he is correct in saying they are correct in saying that a two-state solution has always been the policy of their governments. that's true. the question is, is this the time to put one's foot on the gas pedal on that issue? it will be perceived by many, especially those who have israel's best interest not front
6:38 am
of mind, that this is a reward for october 7th. that the issue of a two-state solution a was a low priority and suddenly a genocidal attack launched against israel and suddenly what's on the agenda again? a palestinian state. i am skeptical in the context of any palestinian state. who does foreign secretary cameron and u.s. government believe is now prepared to run that palestinian state? is hamas? no. you look at hamas's leaders outside of gaza, they're saying they want a one-state not two-state solution. who is running the west bank, the palestinian authority, they have still not condemned october 7th. still are indoctrinateing young people to support genocide of israel. and they are providing rewards, monetary rewards for terrorists who conduct attacks against israelis or their families. there is no one obvious to run the state. if you don't have the personnel to do it. this isn't the right tunneling.
6:39 am
not to say never. the idea that after the horrors of october 7th and that's where we move the discussion to is crazy. >> israel can't live next to al qaeda 2.0. it could be an active weekend throughout this area. well ob here to cover it. thank you. appreciate it, thank you. >> dana reads sports. >> dana: mark andrews is a star not only on the football field but also thousands of feet in the air. the baltimore ravens tight end stepping in to help save a woman's life during a flight from baltimore to phoenix. she was having trouble breatheding and low pulse. it might be her blood sugar. he has diabetes. he jumped into action showed a nurse and doctor how to use it. andrew says the real heroes were the flight attendants and nurse and doctors who happened to be on board. that's a lovely dana reads sports right there. >> bill: a happy day and happy story and happy ending. he is an awesome player and now
