first responder shot and killed while responding to a domestic abuse call in the minneapolis suburb the suspect is reportedly dead after negotiations with a swat team on the scene for this is a new hour of "fox news live" i have ar arthel neville, hi er. super hello edwin thank you for joining us i'm eric shawn for their shock, sadness and on the search for answers in burnsville, minnesota right now waiting for more details what led up to this deadly shooting. as you can see law enforcement agencies honoring the fallen officers and the medic with a procession that ended about an hour ago. leading the bodies from the hospital to the medical examiner's office. condolence messages also pouring in for the victims and their families. this triple shooting another reminder of the dangers that our first responders face every day. madison is live on this right now very quick to state
1:02 pm
m negotiations with the suspect lasted for about four hours until the suspect later died. we do know there were seven children inside of the home during all of this. obviously a very terrifying situation for the deadly shooting happened in the suburb 15 miles southeast of minneapolis what one neighbor calls a wonderful neighborhood full of family and friends. that same neighbor cities woken up by gun shots from 5:30 a.m. in the morning. >> after the loud bangs in conjunction with the loud bangs we heard a lot of rapidfire. a lot of gunshots could not even say how many it is really scary. i mean having that happen that close to where you sleep at night is terrible. my kids are actually not at home this weekend, thank god progress according to officials this all stemmed from a call for a family

in danger but fox affiliate in minneapolis said there was an extremely heavy police presence outside of the scene this morning. the streets were lined with swat vehicles, as police cars, firefighters and ambulances according to the associated press. we noticed one of the armored vehicles windshield had a bullet holes in it. minnesota governor is calling the incident horrific and it says we must never take for granted the bravery and sacrifices our police officers and first reminders make every day my heart is with their families today and the entire state of minnesota stands with burnsville. we are hearing from others like senator amy klobuchar, the minneapolis police department and other leaders in law enforcement around the country sharing their condolences over this deadly shooting. we are still waiting to get confirmation how to get -- what happened to the other people inside the home a hoping to lean that and a lot more details are
1:04 pm
judged by the bullet holes in the vehicle there may have been a fierce firefight with the suspect will get details and bring them to the audience as soon as we can. >> right now we are going to bring nypd inspector paula morrow fox news contributor. paul, this is so sad here we have listening to madison's report here you've got police and swat negotiated for four hours but seven children involved. rapid gunfire heard an armored vehicle pierced with a gunshot. what can you piece together so far? and also where it might police be in their investigation at this point? >> wando things we should mention i heard ted williams mentioned earlier in the show it's entirely accurate as domestic calls are one of the calls the police really dread. they're very highly charged you do not know what you're walking into.
1:05 pm
they're a little counterintuitive every cop has a story of going into break up a husband and wife dispute, the husband's about to be arrested than the wife starts yelling don't arrest my husband and she's the one that jumps on your back. they are very highly charged a very unpredictable. this sounds like a situation where the two officers responding and the emt were likely walking up to the house when the fatal shots occurred i only surmise that because if there is a five hour negotiation with the responding esu team the swat team they would not have taken that long of the victims were inside the location. again it is just speculation but one of the things we know is we have to hold too much speculation very often the initial reports are erroneous of. i suspect he fired on them while they were unawares and walking up to the location. they might not have known the suspect they might not have known what prior calls had occurred there. and of course you have a five-hour standoff which is not
1:06 pm
uncommon because you take all the time you need that's an axiom of hostage negotiation unless it looks like something imminent is going to occur. >> as you pointed out there so many questions unanswered but to your point about how dangerous domestic dispute calls are for police and first responders i heard ted williams say that as well. we have found out through madison's latest reporting at this .7 children were possibly incited at home. just the unknowns police and first responders are dealing with when they do answer these calls. what does that tell you in terms of the number of people who could potentially have been inside of the place? oafter not hearing about a wife or significant other at sounds like he was there just with them but you never know it could be a
1:07 pm
custody battle sort of the situation. obviously the fact there were all these kids in the house. by the time the swat teams arrives they're going to the resident's name, the situation how many kids might be in that they will have done a lot of backgrounding. whether they told him or not they'll know they were children in the mix and they have to proceed on that basis. that is his leverage you do not want any more injuries. he has already revealed a full willingness to shoot and that is the continuum in these things at one end of them you have devolved a situation where police leadership gathered and you know what happened there. on the other hand you have a situation you possibly can await the suspect out so he doesn't do something precipitous. you remove them without further loss of life there is no one-size-fits-all approach. you have to go on intuition, experience, good hostage

negotiation which is an art and it sounds like and none of the children here were injured. we will have to see if there's anyone else in the house and whether he killed himself or if there is a shot fired. the fact he was still shooting at the swat team shows you it was not in t entire placid negotiation. the event you do talk about the art that is involved with negotiating within these cases just points out it's not like you could use drones or robots because again it requires rationality and reasoning. as just a sad situation here in the saturday afternoon. paul thank you very much for your expertise. thank you so much. >> thank you arthel. steve artman will police are searching for whoever killed two people their bodies found in a storm room at the university of colorado in colorado springs. it set to reopen for students and faculty are still shaken. worried about their safety and
