announced hundreds of new sanctions against russia following the death of alexei navalny. sanctions come one day from the two-year mark of russia invading ukraine. they say this will be crushing, critics think it will do little to deter president putin. here is what the president said. >> president biden: i'm announcing 500 new sanctions in response. [applause] >> president biden: in response to putin's brutal war conquest and in the response to alexei navalny's death. putin is responsible for alexei navalny's death and his legacy will live around the world and we will ensure putin pays price for regression abroad and repression at home. >> harris: we've been covering the president in that meeting

by a thousand cuts when the cuts do not land on the russians. they could transfer to the ukraine and have pled with congress to continue using tax dollars to send to them and won't unfreeze assets and continue to hamstring ukrainians with what they can do with the aid. if interested in cutting off russia, then it seems to me he would not have all of those strings atached to the aid, it doesn't let ukraine win that war. great point the general made about trying india, brazil and uae, our commander-in-chief is only afraid of escalation. he can use words about anger but reality is it will not land any type of impact or deterrence on putin and i don't mean to conflate issues, this president

shelter ran out of funding. bill melugin live in san diego with the latest, bill. >> bill: bus number five just pulled up in mass release, this is the new group that just got off. well over 300 people mass released in the last hour and a half. two separate groups, a lot of women. some men in this group. these guys are from africa and south america. what is happening is ngo buses come pick them up and take to the airport and other transit centers. some are calling taxicabs themselves and driving off. we've been talking to people from all around the world, china, dominican republic, africa, colombia, peru, you name it, we have probably heard it, they are going to sanctuary cities like new york, chicago,

>> kayleigh: officials in georgia are investigating a homicide after a woman's body was found on the university of georgia campus. yesterday the victim identified as 22-year-old laken hope augusta. live in athens, georgia, with the latest. madison. >> we are very close to where police found 22-year-old laken riley's body with visible injuries after she never returned home from a run. this is a very popular jogging area at uga, and riley's death has a lot of students scared. there has not been a homicide on campus in 20 years and still no arrest and no suspect. >> i know people who run these trails or walk these trails and our ecology classes, we do lab and come here all the time for labs. it is like spooky and surreal,

this could happen to someone. >> the coroner says the cause of death is pending and examination of riley's body is happening today and will likely not get results until monday. riley was a nursing student in athens and previously attended university of georgia. uga got a call from one of riley's friends, riley had gone on a run and had not returned yet. 30 minutes later her body was found in a wooded area near a lake. the university is asking students to walk in groups during this terrifying time for the community. classes are cancelled until monday and they have counselors available for students who need it. kayleigh. >> kayleigh: terrifying and

tragic. thank you. former president trump and former governor nikki haley making their final pitches to voters in south carolina ahead of tomorrow's gop primary. latest polling gives the former president a 28-point lead and haley faces biggest test yet in her home state as she fights to stay in the race. if you have lost three states and on the precipice of losing a fourth if polling is correct, you would drop out of the race. that is not the case and politico asked why. haley has a republican voter problem, not a republican donor problem. she brought in 9.8 million in january and most 100,000 and above, large donors. >> harris: it is interesting, her strategy has changed. her tongue is more sharp against donald trump. you are toying with base that is

looking to still listen to you, but is not sure if you are consistent on the issue if you are for trump or against trump. that has been an issue. the other thing, when i interviewed her yesterday on the focus, the other thing that is really confounding, this way forward, and her team had media on a call earlier today to talk about what happens in south carolina. i asked her which state do you think you can win and it has been four. i know she did not go up against trump in caucus, but in a primary and lost to a category called none of the other candidates. >> jessica: brutal. >> harris: this is a problem, is it unsurmountable? i don't think it is. you have to have a course forward, that is where voters are looking for that kind of go
