>> if you want to save america, south carolina tomorrow, you must go out and vote. >> nice to see us get back to where we were with of the economy and border security. >> in a general election you' re given a choice. in a primary, you make your choice. >> seems the most sensible, the most informed. john: live look at south carolina where primary voters are casting ballots in the state republican contest with 50 delegates at stake. voters will decide between her former governor or their former president. a big choice. john robert in columbia, south carolina. sandra: welcome, every one.
10:02 am
this is a special edition of america reports. nikki haley voting in her home state a short time ago after weeks of campaigning on the ground. that's different from what we've seen from her rival, donald trump. he has only made a few campaign stops while looking ahead to the general election. john: one of those was in rock hill, south carolina over the border from north carolina and it was huge. maybe he hasn't done a lot but the ones he has done have been very big but nikki haley has been barnstorming the state as well, hoping for a good showing. it will be a tough hill to climb but she will try to do it. sandra: interested to see what the issues are on the ground in south carolina looking at new hampshire, iowa. fox voter analysis did reveal it was about immigration, it wasn't economy top of the list.
10:03 am
that was a distant second. those are the two issues that are the most pressing for voters coast-to-coast. john: voters having breakfast the last couple days, immigration is the top issue but there is another one rapidly emerging on the campaign trail. joining us to talk about that another issues is nikki haley. great to see you and spend more time with you. >> great day in south carolina. people are out voting. good turnout today. john: it is a great day. this is something that is exploded and the campaign trail in the last few hours, the alabama supreme court, in response to it earlier in the week you said this about their finding, frozen embryos count
10:04 am
as unborn children. >> embryos to me are babies. i had artificial insemination. that's how i had my son. john: is that invited controversy, the declaration that they are babies. the democrats are trying to pin this on republicans by saying this is what happens when you overturn roe versus wade. do you believe frozen embryos are babies? what would you recommend republicans do in response to that? >> democrats hope for another hot button issue. the thing is this again, i personally believe embryos are babies just like i am pro-life. that doesn't mean everybody else has to think embryos are babies. what is important, i had to have fertility treatments to have both of my children. we are blessed when we can have these treatments and those options are available. we always want fertility options to be available to
10:05 am
parents as they are trying to have babies of their own but we want to make sure any decisions made with the embryos needs to be between the parents and the physician. this is a sensitive subject that requires a lot of respect. let it happen between the parent and the physician. we don't need government getting involved. we want to make sure embryos are respected and protected properly and the conversations between physicians and patients are confidential so that they are the ones that make the decision. sandra: you are standing by that comment. this is donald trump at a rally last that. >> i strongly support the availability of iv f. the republican party should be on the side of the miracle of life. sandra: you are finding agreement on the issue. >> absolutely. we want to make sure parents
10:06 am
like michael and i should have children when we have other physical challenges. i'm very grateful for the blessings of my two children. i want every parent to have that same opportunity and hope we won't see government start to intrude and get involved in these conversations between parents and physicians. it's a private situation and should stay that way. john: we will see how this evils. some folks in the legislature including senator tim nelson will join us trying to make sure parents - legislative protection. i want to talk about this question. this could be a big issue in the primary, crosswind voters. i want to put on screen the number of democrats who voted in the primary in south carolina, 540,062 compared to 132,000 who voted in the democratic primary on february 3rd.
10:07 am
the rule in south carolina state there is no party affiliation and voter registration. you can be in any primary if you only play in one. there are 408,000 democrats who did not play in the democratic primary earlier this month and a lot of people including donald trump who say you are trying to get them to vote for you. is what he said last night. >> nikki haley is relying on democrats and liberals, who wants democrats voting in a republican primary? what is that about? john: not only trying to attract republicans and like-minded independents but democrats too just to mess with donald trump? >> he is whining and complaining. the reality is the reason for hundred thousand people didn't vote in the democratic primary is they don't love joe biden.
10:08 am
look at the fact that 60% of americans think joe biden and donald trump are too old to be president, you can't blame them if they don't choose a person because they don't think he's doing a good job. i think democrats see the problems with joe biden and a lot of republicans see the problems with donald trump and 70% of americans say they don't want either one. they are the most disliked politicians in america. that is a fact. americans are looking for a different choice. we welcome that but it is the reason i say there's a problem. donald trump cannot win a general election. look at the market poll this past week. he's margin with president biden again. i defeat him by 18 points because not only do i get republicans, i get independents coming back to the republican party and conservative democrats to the republican party. that is what we want. we want to expand our tent in the party as opposed to what
10:09 am
donald trump is doing saying anybody that supports me is barred permanently from maga. you are running for president, you don't shut people out of your club, you bring people in. our policies are the best policies to lift up everyone. that is what i'm going to continue to do, try bringing more people into our party, not push them out. sandra: we have live pictures in south carolina. charleston, seen some long lines as well. people heading out to the polls. a lot of energy to get the vote out there. we know the expectation. we've been putting this on screen, how long you want to stay in. how are you going to measure the evening? are you vowing to stay through super tuesday? >> i will tell you how i am measuring the day. today was a day of complete gratitude. i had the opportunity to go to the voting booth with my mom.
10:10 am
my mom was a lawyer in india, picked to be one of the first female judges to sit on the bench but because of the times it was too hard and she was never able to do that. she was able to stand with me as she voted for her daughter for president of the united states. that's a pretty amazing example of how blessed we are to live in america. that's what i feel today. i feel a lot of gratitude towards my family. i feel a lot of gratitudes towards the people of south carolina. it was a blessing to serve the state that raised me. a blessing to defend the country at the un that i love so much. that's why i am fighting for america. we have a country to save and we are not letting our foot off the gas. we are getting through south carolina today. we are headed to michigan tomorrow and supertuesday. america deserves better, the younger generation deserves better. they deserve to know what normal is and that's what i'm trying to get them.
10:11 am
john: having read your books, having her mother voting for her daughter as president is a moment. i want to ask about another issue that very prominent in this election, drove voters to the polls in new hampshire, drove them to the polls in iowa, to a great degree will drive them to the polls in south carolina and that's the issue of legal immigration. the dangers of which were driven home yesterday when lakey riley was found dead thursday on campus at the university of georgia. the man who entered this country illegally through the el paso sector believed to be from venezuela held in connection with her murder. where do your thoughts run today on that? >> i'm completely disgusted. my heart breaks for this family. more than that, makes me angry at president biden that he refuses to go and really make
10:12 am
this a number one priority. makes me angry for congress who shouldn't be taking a break and be on vacation, they should be in congress doing what it takes to pass a strong border bill. it makes me angry at donald trump who told congress not to pass anything until after the general election because it would affect him up. we can't wait one more day. congress needs to get in a room, figure this out, pass a strong illegal immigration bill and donald trump needs to stay out of it because we are losing too many americans for reasons we should not be doing this. in south carolina i passed to the toughest immigration law in the country, president obama sued us over and we won. we need to get this right, we can't wait one more day. it is unacceptable we are putting americans in danger this way and it's time something gets done and there is no time to wait. sandra: on the second anniversary of the russia ukraine war, obviously ukraine
10:13 am
continues to hold out hope, that president zelenskyy talking to brett on special report. >> we want to live, to survive. we don't have an alternative. we are fighting for common values. let's support a unit. sandra: two years into this war how would you choose as president to handle vladimir putin's war on ukraine? >> i wouldn't do what trump did and side with vladimir putin and said he would encourage vladimir putin to invade our allies. i wouldn't decide with a dictator who killed his political opponents was i wouldn't side with a thug who arrests american journalists and hold them hostage and i wouldn't side with a madman who has made no bones about wanting to destroy america. i would side with our allies who stood with us after 9/11. when you look at what zelenskyy is going through, this is a pro america freedom loving country
10:14 am
fighting for its very survival. if ukraine wins of this, china won't -- china won't invade taiwan but we need to look what happens if ukraine loses of this. putin made very clear that once they take ukraine, poland and the baltics are next, those are nato countries and that puts america at war. this is about preventing war. we've got to do everything we can to prevent war. when donald trump sided with vladimir putin he put our allies in more danger, he immediately empowered vladimir putin and immediately put our military members who are sitting on the ground in danger and now you see vladimir putin has started to put troops around the baltic countries. donald trump pushed us further into war as opposed to pulling us back and president biden keeps putting his head in the sand which is in solving anything. we need to go and give them the equal and and ammunition they need to finish this so they can finally be done.
10:15 am
john: good to catch up with you. thanks for taking time to be with us. sandra: thanks so much. as we mentioned, the man accused of murdering that 22-year-old nursing student lincoln riley is an illegal immigrant from venezuela who crossed into the united states in 2022. live from athens, georgia, madison, what do we know about the suspect's first court appearance that happened today? madison:26-year-old josé antonio iberra, the judge denied him bond but this is a terrifying situation, everyone in the athens community has a lot of people devastated. i want to bring in mary
10:16 am
catherine, a junior at uta. you told me you have a lot of mutual friends with lincoln. tell me how they are feeling, how everyone is feeling and a little bit about who lincoln was as a person. >> i never had the privilege to meet lincoln but i had close friends who i know are hurting right now, she just was such a great person, she was in nursing school, very dedicated to her sorority, family and friends and i've seen videos of her online, it's heartbreaking because that's a smart, bright young lady who loved her running. i heard so many great things about her, so tragic. >> reporter: we know this all happened on thursday. she was running, her friend never heard back from her, she was worried. talk about these intramural fields she was running by. are people scared to walk on
10:17 am
campus? >> these intramural fears have a lake next to it used for research and recreational purposes. so people are always running on those trails in the daytime, alone, they felt safe before this incident, now a lot of people are scared to go out especially girls alone, barely thinking about going out there. from here on out, a buddy system situation, and deter a lot of females from going out. >> reporter: thank you for your time. we appreciate it. everyone at ug is in our thoughts. the suspect, a legal immigrant. a lot of people here really upset and afraid and really have lincoln's family and their prayers right now. sandra: this absolutely awful story as we learn more details. john: fox news cameras

>> primary voting under way. what would be on the minds of voters casting their ballots. let's bring in kellyanne conway, thanks for joining us on this saturday, voters heading out to the polls, that's on our mind tonight. what drove their enthusiasm to get out and cast their ballot? what was the most pressing issue for voters in those two primaries? kellyanne:immigration beat out the economy. what a one% in new hampshire, 40 one% in iowa, gop voters said this is the most pressing issue for them facing the country today. what will be see in south carolina? :much of the same. this is a nationwide issue. every state is a border state,
10:24 am
iowa and new hampshire, a thousand miles from the southern border but everybody is feeling it because they look at border security as their own personal safety, national sovereignty, and a matter of fairness, the very tragic death of the university georgia nursing student and it is anecdotal evidence of what donald trump has been saying for nine years since 2015, first elevated the issue of illegal immigration into a national consciousness, important to remember, look at your fox news voter analysis, i would venture a guess to say a south carolina tonight immigration, border security, when trump elevated this in 2015, 3% or 4%, you can be a leader who follows polls and have the polls follow you. the immigration and border security is seen by many americans as an economic issue. i think president biden has done a terrible job if you look at the approval ratings, this
10:25 am
is his worst issue in terms of how he handled it. he's trying to go back to trump era policies. that would be good substantively but probably too little too late politically. sandra: charles main has tied together immigration and the economy because it's having great consequences in so many cities dealing with this growing crisis. we also want to look at the outcome in new hampshire and iowa, we asked about family's financial situation. it was only 13% in new hampshire who said they feel they are getting ahead. 11% in iowa. you had a majority. 60% say they are holding steady in the economic environment. almost as much in iowa saying the same. those falling behind almost 1/3 in both of those states, gives you an idea of how despite this administration touting a strong economy, how people are still struggling in it.
10:26 am
on the ground in the southeast region, consumer price index, their prices are higher than the national level. gas prices, south carolina, the average below three, below the national average as voters head to the polls, we want to dig in to the current economic situation. the on employment rate 3%. it is below the national average of 3.7%. those are some of the things we are looking at heading into tonight. the economy could be a bigger focus for voters, we don't know. give us your prediction for tonight. kellyanne:this will be the fourth consecutive state rounding out the geographic reach of donald trump over nikki haley by double digits. the rocky mountain west, nevada, the south. a year ago, when nikki haley and ulster president of campaign it looked like a good idea, south carolina would be the first in the south, now she is setting herself up for an

embarrassment facing voters who are supposed to know her best but there have been many articles this week with voters saying she abandoned us, hasn't been here, lost touch with grassroots, demographically speaking south carolina has undergone seismic changes demographically and politically. it is the state followed by florida and texas that has had the most people are per capita. people are moving to south carolina. she is not the governor. it is regrettable. i am someone who likes nikki and worked with her. it is regrettable that she selfishly still in this race when the voters home spoken, don't become an election denier, everything she is saying not only is incendiary but false. donald trump cozying up to vladimir putin, vladimir putin didn't like that we were starving iran of its energy reduction or kicked out russians and sanctioned russian

banks are exporting and selling natural gas and oil to poland and other eastern european countries. is regrettable her words will be used against donald trump in the fall, time to focus on taking president biden and kamala harris out of the white house, the economic numbers show it. sandra: polling does show as the former president unlike nikki haley campaigning on the ground in south carolina turned to the general election finishing off the fox news polling does show a general election matchup today, the preference would be for donald trump, 47, to president biden's 45%, that's the latest polling we have on that match up. that was on michigan. we were talking about the war in israel. kellyanne:michigan is tuesday. sandra: the reason i was focusing on michigan, a big piece written this morning, on michigan, if things turn for president biden this could be

the end of his campaign for the general election. we asked who do you trust to do a better job on the war in israel and hamas, that goes with donald trump 49% to president biden's 49%. is looking like he is in trouble in michigan. thank you for joining us. appreciate it. john: alabama's ruling turning into a huge election issue. how are south carolina voters reacting? we are asking john parker, plus this. >> interest rates are bad, that drops so many things. sandra: john on the ground in south carolina. the fallout from bidenomics, a big discussion. one restaurant owner says it is impacting everyone from employees to customers next. i met with a turbotax expert because i had two full time jobs... lawyering and...

10:35 am
differing opinions. that's why governor haley was saying may be able agree with me and maybe not but there's more important thing here, she recognizes life and life beginning at the beginning, juxtaposed to an administration who believes in abortion on demand up until birth as a form of birth control, glad we have a governor that supports life. >> my wife and i had twins via ivf, it was when they would put back as many embryos as possible and they said we were blessed to have twins but the modern-day procedures by and large, only one embryo after you made 5 or 6 so you have a lot of issues in the future, donald trump called on republicans in the alabama state legislature to do something about this, to get around this supreme court
10:36 am
ruling, joining us in little while to talk more about that but the democrats are going to use this is a cudgel to beat republicans between now and november saying is this is what you reap when you put conservative justices on the supreme court. >> that's why i say don't use this is a tactic, they will spin it and focus on some details here and avoiding the real issue which you have one administration that wants to kill babies all the way up to the day they are born at another that wants to protect and recognize the sanctity and dignity of human life starting from conception. sandra: as if this becomes a bigger and bigger issue i wonder how you might see this play out in a general election matchup, karine jean-pierre at yesterday's press briefing at the white house and she chose to tie this to roe versus wade. >> devastating example of the
10:37 am
kind of chaos and confusion that has resulted from the overturning of roe versus wade. it is unacceptable to this administration when women are denied the care they need. sandra: what is your reaction to that? >> this administration has a funny idea about healthcare, whether it be this issue, turning our children, healthy development calling that healthcare, they have strange ideas and want to take things that are loosely mentioned in the ruling and say this is a republican and conservative court tying into jobs. we know these are just the distractions from the administer ration that has no respect for life and no respect for family or traditional values. john: 78% of republican voters

in california count themselves as christians. in 2016, kellyanne conway recommended donald trump take mike pence as his running mate as a bulwark to get support among evangelicals. donald trump seems not to need that this time around. >> talking about a president that has stood by israel, did something no other president would have done in moving the embassy to jerusalem, gave us of this court that has roe versus wade overturned, a number of ways he stood proudly and confidently for the values that america is founded upon, no reason for evangelicals not to and christians not to support this president not to mention we care about our families. you've got a border where people are flooding across bringing crime and drugs and he is the only one we feel

john: turn out in any election is low among younger voters particularly when it comes to republicans, two college students voting in the primary, the vice president of usc college republicans says he will vote for donald trump, carolyn finch at usc casting a ballot for nikki haley. great to see you, good to see you. what are your reasons for voting for nikki haley as a young republican? >> the reason i am casting my vote for nikki haley is as americans we've lost our spirit of compromise and need someone to bring us together and realize we don't have to be right as much as we would like

nikki haley townhall, democrats do a great job reaching out to younger voters, president biden is even on tiktok, why do you think republicans do such a bad job reaching out to folks? >> part of the reason is a place of a lot of older republican base especially lifelong politicians don't see jen the as an important voting base and it is a mistake when we have politicians trying to go for reelection they ignore us, don't think we have the life experience or knowledge to make a true decision. john: they realize you vote? your vote counts equally as much? >> i agree completely. the problem comes from we have the democrats on social media aware of jen z where republicans don't, they have not pushed the way the democrats have and that has
