you know what? this is why it's a red letter day. today could be the day both parties lock in the nominees. it will probably be as of tomorrow this time joe biden vs. donald trump. >> ainsley: that's right. officially. meanwhile on capitol hill. special counsel robert hur is going to testify. that happens at 10:00 this morning on his report on president biden's handling of classified documents. >> brian: all right. we have team conch this morning and we are bragging. we have madeleine rivera, she is live in washington. but we begin with mark meredith at the white house mark take it away. >> good morning. today house republicans are expected to grill special counsel robert hur what he learned of president biden's age his abilities and memory as hur was investigating biden for the mishandling of classified documents. hur's report, which came out a month ago had generated considerable pushback from the white house after hur claimed -- the white house claimed that hur was acting as a political instigator as opposed to investigator. the report concluded that biden

had willfully held on to classified documents. both at his wilmington home as well as the d.c. office. but it was another section of the report which generated the biggest headlines that we'll likely hear about today. hur writing this. mr. biden would likely present himself to a jury as he did during his interview with our office as a sympathetic well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory. the report went on to say he did not remember when he was vice president. forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended and that he did not remember even within several years when his son bo died. the president himself has pushed back repeatedly and heavily against those claims. and top white house staffers insist the 81-year-old remains fully capable of leading the country. >> just a little part of what we get to see he has made mistake after mistake after mistake on camera this week. >> so, i want to be very clear here, um, the reality is that report -- that part of the report does not live in reality

it. just doesn't. >> so the special counsel was lying about the president's memory. >> it is, it is, it was gratuitous. >> we will see if the president pushes back a little bit further as he welcomes poland's leaders to the white house later today. we'll hear from the judiciary committee holding a hearing. jim jordan talk about not only what he hopes to learn today but also what the report could mean for the efforts to look into that impeachment inquiry of president biden. steve, ainsley, and brian, back to you guys. >> steve: mr. meredith, thank you very much. >> you bet. >> steve: we will talk about that in a minute. first president biden and former president trump could clinch nominations for the presidency after today's primaries in georgia, mississippi, washington state and the republican caucuses way out in hawaii. >> brian: madeleine rivera here to break down those contests not much drama, madeleine. >> madeleine: not much. this comes down to the delegate math. president biden has 1866 delegates.

he needs 102 more to lock up the democratic nomination. former president trump has 1078. he needs 137 more to become the republican presumptive nominee. georgia is the biggest prize today with 108 democratic and 59 g.o.p. delegates at stake. washington comes in second with 92 democratic and 43 g.o.p. delegates up for grabs. mississippi has 35 democratic and 40 g.o.p. killings and then hawaii has 18 g.o.p. delegates. trump can clinch the republican nomination after the delegates in washington are awarded. the number of del he needs to win there depends on how many he gets from georgia and mississippi. president biden meanwhile can become the democratic presumptive nominee after the delegates in georgia are awarded and if he wins, all those delegates, steve, ainsley and brian. >> steve: all right. madeleine, thank you very much. it's really interesting when you think about, okay, so, for the most part tomorrow we are going to be talking about how it's set donald trump vs. joe biden. the biggest political liability

joe biden has right now is our southern border. and yesterday, joe biden made it very clear, do you know what? i'm not going to pass any executive orders because congress needs to do something. and then a reporter said there is no bipartisan appetite on capitol hill to pass anything. he goes i'm still counting on it. >> ainsley: well, most likely we will know officially the two nominees today. donald trump needs 137 delegates to make it over the line. there are 161 up for grabs. and then biden needs 102. there are 254 delegates on the democratic side up for grabs. >> brian: it's going to be huge. there is no drama there ever since super tuesday and nikki haley said i'm -- i can't win. it's going to be interesting to see what governor desantis ends up doing for president trump if anything and if nikki haley ever gets on board to see if they can combine forces. it's pretty clear that president biden is going to have a ton of surrogates and all the cabinet officials working for them. that's why i think it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. as much as president trump loves

the drama. wouldn't he also like, especially with these court cases anchoring him down, wouldn't he also like to have a vice president and a team? maybe even name his cabinet being that he just had the job? and let them fan out and tell the story as he tries to reconfigure the rnc? also think it's important with the robert hur report for -- to see democrats are they going to personally attack robert hur who comes forward as a private citizen since he resigned as special counsel. are they going to come after him and try to label him a republican to say you are wrong to go on a lark and come to these conclusions that the president has a poor memory, even though it's chronicled and if you push too hard the tapes are going to come out of him meeting not only with his ghost rider where he forgot everything and said things like i have classified documents. i don't think anybody even knows i have these. he said that on audio and then basically repeated it. so, if you push too hard and you say he is competent then how could you not charge him. >> ainsley: i don't think they are going to say is he a

republican because he is saying. >> brian: appointed by a republican. >> ainsley: is he going to say you can't charge president biden because he is old and he is elderly and he can't go before a jury but we can charge donald trump because i think he had to add that in. they are upset because they are saying he didn't have a good memory and he is elderly. they are upset about that. but i think that was his caveat to say well, this is why i'm not charging him. >> brian: he cannot say he didn't know he had classified documents because he is on audio saying look, i have classified documents. they don't even know i have these. and they went back to them in january as he wrote his book. >> ainsley: he said he willfully obtained the classified documents. >> brian: hur said that they can't pretend this isn't -- well, willfully took it. he never came out and said he took anything. he said i didn't know. someone packed things up. no, he referenced them and used them to write his second book. and, by the way, anyone who looks at mar-a-lago and says how can you leave boxes out? just look at this.

>> steve: listen, ultimately, what we are going to see today is, you know, the depositions between the white house and their own department of justice. >> ainsley: right. >> steve: they feel like merrick garland should have done something but merrick garland, every time there has been a complicated issue, he has appointed a is spriewrtd specil prosecutor, a special counsel that is to say. they are steamed going back to the hunter biden situation that david weiss stretched everything out and that i am employed when that plea deal blew up in real time and led to hunter being charged with gun and drug charges -- rather tax and gun charges. it will be really interesting to see if, when robert hur is testifying, if anybody from the doj is sitting in the room going you shouldn't answer that. there could be somebody from the doj even though he is private citizen. >> ainsley: not bound by the doj

impact the arrests here in the big easy. good morning, family. so we have been covering spring break for years. ainsley, you don't look like it but you covered it years past. and so you never know what you're going to find when you go to these cities. yesterday, something i always ask the students the spring breakers this one question, as they prepare for today, i asked them what do you do to prepare them? do you coat your stomach? we know they are going to be drinking. i had the opportunity to talk to one young lady yesterday, she is a senior at texas tech. and she told me when i asked her what does she do to prep for spring break she applies her bronzer and then she does cocaine. that really goes to the heart of this. sure, there is safety concerns. you are worried about the guns that are on the street. but there's a lot of kids out here that do a lot of drugs. and when you listen to the d.a. saying that 50% of the drugs are laced with fentanyl. there's a lot of concerned parents about that, guys. >> steve: that's some story.

affecting a lot of kids that is tiktok. tiktok has been telling their users hey, call capitol hill, because it sounds like they are going to ban tiktok. tomorrow, there's going to be a vote in the house and essentially what it is is given the fact that tiktok is owned and controlled by bytedance, with ties to china, tiktok has either got to be sold or it's going to face a ban in the united states. and, you know, we have been talking about the national security issues and stuff like that. donald trump has come out in the last 48 hours and has suggested it is still a national security threat. but, facebook is the enemy of the people so, it will be interestu know, how people actually break down. >> ainsley: scared people will go to facebook. >> brian: go ahead. >> ainsley: today is the classified briefing to the lawmakers. the tiktok ceo is going to be on capitol hill this week and then tomorrow is that house bill vote. >> brian: it's interesting. president trump said i'm going to stay out of it. told cnbc yesterday.

he came up and senator warner said you were right. donald trump was right when he said we have got to ban tiktok. when you come out and i see what zucker did with the zucker bucks in the last election how they effected everything with the shadow banning and the people that used to own -- used to own twitter. i don't really want to give -- i don't want to give jet fuel to american social media devices so i understand the sentiment but clearly china is controlling this. and by the way, if you watch some of the hearings yesterday, it's obvious. almost impossible to detect what the chinese government does for bytedance and what bytedance goes for the chinese government. everyone agrees that they have to do what the chinese government wants which is why india banned tiktok in 2020. and 59 other devices. why australia, canada, britain and france and new zealand have done that 24 states have taken action here. here is the fbi director. >> i would just add that that kind of influence operation or the different kinds of influence

operations you are describing are extraordinarily difficult to detect, which is part of what makes the national security concerns represented by tick diamond and silk so significant. >> but the problem is not tiktok. it's the control by china. if tiktok were divested and owned by an american company or a belgium company oar british company, we wouldn't have this level of problem; is that correct. >> correct. >> steve: lawrence? >> lawrence: yeah, the problem is that you don't know what problem you're going to have if china still has some sort of influence. you have had kevin o'leary saying yesterday on the channel what -- maybe if we give them 25%. well then china could still influence the company with that 25%. i mean, it's actually a two-pronged problem when you get to it, ainsley. there's the national security aspect of when you download the app. how much control they will have over your phone. there are some analyst that say if you have tiktok on your phone, they have access to everything in your phone.

and then there's the other prong of the actual influence that they have on our young people. remember, the video that our kids are looking at on tiktok right now, you can't see those same videos in china. >> ainsley: no. they can't. they are educational in china. that says a lot. our children are watching these videos. and the kids don't want it banned because they have their information stored on their. they have their videos stored on there. and they love this. it's entertaining for them. joe biden many are saying is he going to sign this bill? will he veto it? he is on tiktok after he was critical of it. but he did say he will sign the bill if it is passed. >> steve: all right. so,. >> brian: you got ban it, let's be honest. they are not going to sell so you have got to ban it. >> steve: what happens in the house. meanwhile joe biden was up in manchester, new hampshire yesterday. he was at the dnc's regional headquarters there at the conclusion of his prepared remarks. we want you to see this as somebody is yelling behind lawrence to try to get his

attention. >> brian: it's not working. he is looking at us. >> steve: essentially, joe biden turns to ask his staff if it's okay if he goes off the prepared remarks and is allowed to take a question from our reporter. how did that go? we got the tape. watch. >> woe got to make sure that we communicate that i am going to be working like the devil and i'm looking forward to doing more and more of these events than the big events because how i used to campaign. you campaigned with me before. [laughter] a few times. but, really, getting to look people in the eye, get their feelings. i tell you the truth when i talking to them. anyway, am i allowed to take any questions? [laughter] anybody here on staff? >> steve: there are a couple different ways where the staff is able to control things. sometimes if they are in a hall,

and now there is. this alaska airlines reporting profitability was negatively impacted by at least $150 million due to that boeing 737 max door panel blowout. the incident led to the grounding of the 737 max fleet in january, in early february. despite the loss in revenue. alaska airlines says it still expects to have a profitable first quarter compared to the same period last year. a memorial service held today for the washington state trooper killed in a high speed crash earlier this month. investigators say a driver slammed into the back of trooper christopher gadz parked patrol car. court documents show the suspect admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking two beers hours before the crash. ice says he is in the country illegally. it's unclear if the senate will take up the laken riley act. the bill would require officers to detain illegal migrants accused of committing crimes, especially when it documents

book. so, that is clear. we're going to probe all those areas. but, he found that clearly but then decided as you pointed out, brian, that because the president would be sympathetic and this is special counsel hurens words sympathetic to a jury elderly old man who can't remember things he decided not to brings charges. >> brian: here is an example. a lot of people say whether you democrat or republican why did you include things like memory it's cruel. he answers that i had to consider the president's overall mental state. he asked him about the statement on tape to his ghost writer that said i just found all of the classified stuff downstairs. he said that to his ghost writesser? >> he told us he told us he didn't remember saying that to his ghost writer. didn't remember finding any classified material in his home.

accounts. email accounts that didn't have his name on it. did you pursue that? because you asked for the direct messages on twitter from president trump at the time and everybody around him. did you pursue all these different venues? he went through a lot but did he go through everything? >> one thing we are going to ask special counsel hur one thing we have done is we said we want the audiotapes. we want all the information you had when you interviewed president biden. we think if you're not going to prosecute him based on the fact that you believe he is an erlgdly old man who forgets things. we want to hear those audiotapes. we have asked for that right now the white house and justice department aren't giving it to us. see what happens there. >> brian: eventually give it to you. do they want it in the fall or out in the spring? that's going to be the question. congressman, thanks so much. look forward to the conference today or the hearings today. all right. meanwhile, it is a super tuesday, too. trump and biden could clinch their party's nomination tonight. we do the math we'll show our
