the curfew continues and one popular party city. local businesses in miami beach where they have challenge the shut down yesterday arguing the curfew hurts their businesses. last night a judge denied the request. what are spring breakers going to do? hello everyone welcome to "fox ne"foxnews live" i'm eric shawni arthel. arthel: hi eric, hello everyone i'm arthel neville. the midnight 6:00 a.m. curfew now stands through monday. the city made that move after two deadly shootings last year when rowdy celebrations spiraled out of control. arthel: i talked to the mayor of miami beach in a moment he'll tell us about the curfew. first was go to madison is alive in fort lauderdale. that is where the mayor there says spring breakers come to fort lauderdale. there is no curfew, and joy come have fun madison as you can see is on the beach. high medicine. click hi eric. that is right we are definitely single large crowds here on

the first of i want to jump in and ask you do you agree with the spring break curfew this year? >> a number of years we have shooting on our streets. we are a safe city these measures were necessary to keep everyone safe. by the way a lot of businesses are happily put in these measures. there are a handful of businesses impacted some are saying they're making more money addition than past years. arthel: that is interesting i was going to ask you that. what do you hear what are you hearing from the business owners, the clubs, the restaurants in the shop to make the bulk of their revenue during spring break? you are saying to me as you well know there were several businesses the met the nightclub that stays open from 12:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m., who said listen, this is hurting our bottom line here. >> first of all, our residents are extremely please and put in the measures we have that sure w this as they call mrs. spring break we have had in years.

the businesses are little more mixed. we have three businesses who brought suit and those are open until 5:00 a.m. which they cannot do it's just two weekends they can't do that. but again, a number of restaurants make their business like a traditional restaurant are tell me thank you, these measures have helped them. they have kept things safer, calmer, they are actually busier. arthel: security has been the issue. you have implemented spring break security measures like a bag checks, heightened police presence, closing parking garages. what more can you and other city and state officials due to fortified law enforcement during spring break? or do you feel you've done all you can do? >> each of the most robust measures we have ever taken by a long shot. license plate readers, dui checks, bag checks, closing the beach at 6:00 p.m., closing our parking garages just for these two weekends in the heaviest law

enforcement presence we have ever had between miami beach, the county, sister cities and also the governor and florida highway patrol. they really came through. they gave us 45 officers last weekend and this weekend. it has really helped you can see the difference on the street. it is calmer. we are busy we are still a busy city. i was out there last night with police and everyone. we are busy but everything is calm. evelyn's having a good time with it should be. arthel: does a miami beach risk losing businesses and the reputation as a go to spring break destination? >> i don't know we want to be the go to spring break destination. we want to be a tourist attraction, which we are paid we want our hotels filled, which they are. and i think the opposite was happening. we were risking ruining our reputation by having these acts of violence which we prevented this year this is a win/win for

everyone and this is a huge success for us this year. arthel: i know the residents are very concerned about safety as well. our most college students showing up for spring break can you tell or are other people showing up for the party? >> a little bit of a mix for the problems we've had in past years have not been college students it has been people in their men, late 20s and 30s who are kind of using the attraction to come here and cause problems. that is been the issue. that is why at spring break might not be the correct terminology but the bottom line is the formula is the same throughput in these measures to keep people safe. our residents were demanding at many of our businesses were demanding it. other than a couple of businesses that brought this lawsuit and lost, really almost uniformly everyone in the city is appreciative of the drastic actions we have taken which have

arthel: the man accused of killing three and the members in pennsylvania yesterday is now awaiting extradition after a standoff in new jersey that unfolded live here in our newscast yesterday. authorities say 26-year-old andre gordon killed his stepmother, his 13-year-old sister, and the mother of his two children in the philadelphia suburb of falls township. gordon allegedly carjacked a vehicle, drove to trenton, new jersey entered a house with four people inside. those people were not harmed. police say he escaped before swat officers got there and was found a few hours later on a nearby street. meantime there's another scare for residents in bucks county this morning. a swat team and armored vehicles surrounded a home in newtown in response to a domestic violence call. neighbors were told to shelter in place. police say a man was taken into custody without incident.

through breaches in the border while to get into the country because those parts of the border are now some of the easiest for cartels to get people across now. those are just the people who want to turn themselves over to border patrol we are also single lots of cases like these in new mexico human smugglers working for the cartel snake dug in dozens of migrants across the board and tried to get them further into the country. texas is seeing fewer border crossings overall but the human smuggling operations have not slowed down. last week texas dps track down this cartel smuggler who was caught hiding under a bush in laredo texas with a small group he was trying to sneak across the border and into the country illegally. in that same area law enforcement found 14 people the cartels were smuggling in the back of a semi trailer 10 of them from guatemala, four from mexico the driver from houston is now facing charges of human smuggling. enforcement officials stressed w important busting those types of

this moment. but they do have people they would like to contact that was actually out of the homeless area that riley was last seen in. arthel: are you in touch with riley's parents, chris and michelle? first of all how are they holding up? how diligently are they working of course, to find their son, who are they working with? >> they are doing extremely well for the circumstances. we have had an incredible outpouring of family and love from back in springfield, missouri or we are from. and nashville, general people n general have been overwhelmed with gifts, free hotel rooms, food, people to come to the laundry, the city of nashville is beyond what anyone could want or expect in the situation. we are curious. i am more curious than any one i want to know why the tbi is not been brought into this investigation. we are a week plus into this and

i'm not saying anything negative about the nashville police force, more eyes, more agents, more people looking at this it may give us a fresh look on where we are currently stalled that at the moment. arthel: we are not sure, there may be there working on bringing in other agencies with the search for riley. but you weren't there that night, but what do you know about what happens? as far as you know? >> a little bit of the timeline is riley's mother and a young lady riley was saying literally talk to him. his mother communicated him about an hour before the last phone ping went. nothing in the conversation along the lines of what we watched in the videos. a lady that had reached out to him right after they've gotten into luke bryan's and barr had asked him how he was doing. he replied back in a text good
