7:04 am
moreno is the one that got trump's endorsement. conservative republicans in ohio getting behind matt dolan. look for a close race later tonight. sherod brown has been pretty effective in the buckeye state. any one of these republicans has a chance to knock him off because ohio, you know i'm old enough to remember 2012 when ohio was a battleground state. look what happened in 2020. donald trump was an easy winner in ohio by eight points. he did the same thing four years earlier against hillary clinton winning ohio by eight points. it has become a state that is no longer that much of a battleground. it has become trump country in america and why is this seat so critical? you look at the margin of difference in the senate. every state senate race now come november will be critical to determine the balance of power. speaking of president trump, his team says he can't afford to pay a half billion dollar payment in new york. lydia hu is watching that from the newsroom in manhattan. what's up next, lydia?

>> well, lawyers for former president donald trump say he faces insur mountable difficulties in obtaining a bond to satisfy the $464 million civil fraud judgment and the deadline for the bond quickly approaching now less than one week away. his lawyers say he has been turned away from 30 insurance companies and asked the court to anticipate a lesser amount, 100 million which the attorney general's office opposed. lawyers asked the court to waive the bond's requirement. if the court denies that attorney general james can start moving to seize the former president's assets regardless of their location. she has already mentioned 40 wall street. that's not the only piece of real estate she could target. new york city alone has a handful of properties to finance his bond including his penthouse home at trump tower and go outside of the state of new york

and try to seize properties like mar-a-lago, the president's florida home. former president trump writing this today. i shouldn't have to put up any money being forced by the corrupt judge and attorney general until the end of the appeal. that's the way the system works. for some context there they are requiring appealing a party to post a bond is not unusual. those are the rules. what concerns many in this case is the amount of the judgment and the fact that leticia james campaigned to go after him. that's why the "wall street journal" editorial board wrote the judgment is overkill and people doing business in the state of new york should be worried. >> bill: thank you, lydia for all that. lydia hu in new york city. >> dana: kellyanne conway, former senior advisor to president trump and fox news contributor. i want to show everybody to remind everyone about leticia james planning all this back in 2018. watch here. >> i will never be afraid to

7:08 am
real estate. and we know that i'm glad you showed leticia james. it is very important to see it was not one slip of the tongue in one interview on the fly. this was a deliberate effort to take down president trump. if you can't beat him at the polls or can't prosecute him in other cases you try to bankrupt him. look, these bonds do happen but i was reading from a bond expert just this morning that they conventionally happen when you are dealing with a public company, not a private company or not an individual a bond of this size. the president has made a good faith effort . i want to go back to something he has said very recently. he should have been in the commercial division and had a jury of his peers and be allowed to appeal. can i give you $1 hundred million out of the $454 million and she said no. she hasn't been reasonable at any turn. someone is politically motivated
7:09 am
not legally motivated in james. the judge himself for this judge to have valued mar-a-lago at $18 million. doral country club and properties at a lower number than they're clearly worth and then say we have to disgeorge your ill gotten gains and you can afford this when he is trying to value some of his major properties lower than they are makes no sense. i think his people have a good case on appeal. >> bill: andy mccarthy said we are a long way from getting this thing settled. barack obama was meeting with u.k. prime minister. no big deal. former president having a high level meeting and that and the headline. obama would be jealous how biden's rivalry shapes his presidency and the obama people thought biden would suck as president and didn't think he would be organized enough to execute. i think it's natural to compete in life just like in politics.
7:10 am
but what do you think of what appears to be a competition between these two men? >> terrible for joe biden who is failing. p overall job approval. ability, agility, acuity, just the capacity to do the job. when you overlay that with the most popular democrat barack obama and people going after his former number two it is bad for this. i think seems to me president obama has been distancing himself from biden for a long time. he told the democrat famously major newspapers reported at the time don't underestimate the ability of joe biden to screw this up. he used a different word but i will say screw it up and told him when joe biden was thinking of running you don't need to do this. "the new york times" reported that back in 2019 and nobody denied it five years later. i think rivalries could be healthy but odd to me that president obama wouldn't want his former vice president to

succeed and say joe biden is running the third term of obama-biden. that's not true. states that obama-biden carried twice like florida, north carolina, iowa, ohio are gone. they are much more ruby red now and president trump carried them twice, probably would again the third time. so for all the people who say i think obama, michelle obama, obama people are running the white house. i disagree. joe biden is running the white house and see why obama is trying to distance himself. we have one president at a time when it comes to foreign policy and national security. even during the transition after trump won and while obama was still president i was on tv daily saying we have one esident at a time. obama is still the commander-in-chief and try to be respectful. what is president obama doing at downey street. helping with crises and chaos around the globe that his former vice president help add to he should be talking about ukraine, israel. or in haiti. downing street.
