more than $50 million in florida. millions of americans will witness a full solar eclipse tomorrow. good evening i am jon scott and this is the fox report. ♪ ♪ ♪ the excitement is building in those states from texas to maine it will be in the direct path of tomorrow's total eclipse beginning tomorrow afternoon. fox team coverage for you this evening fox weather it meteorologists at kendall smith has more in the best spots to view the eclipse. liberty science center planetarium director mike shanahan joins us to break them the science behind it. first fox with a correspondent max gordon live in cleveland which is in the path of totality. max? [laughter] >> good evening. we are less than 24 hours away. you said it. the excitement is building we are rocking and rolling here in

cleveland at the rock 'n' roll hall of fame. one of many events going on across the city. tomorrow the rock 'n' roll hall of fame is going to be djing the eclipse. playing a net other than pink floyd eclipse during totality which will occur at 3:13 p.m. local time. but the only thing people are thinking about right now is will there be clouds tomorrow? that could throw a wrench into everyone's plans it could block out the sun. we talked to one guy who drove up all the way from atlanta georgia he said he wants to see the eclipse so badly he met alternate plans to stay in >> just in case it is cloudy. take a listen. >> it is incredible to everything people say it is. it's an entirely different experience. different than anything if seeing your whole life i want to experience it unobstructed as much as possible. i already drove 10 and half hours to get here. and i'm going to drive another nine and a half hours just to see it more search and clear

indianapolis with the latest. >> cloud cover forecast across the country is going to be a nailbiter for sure, for many cities for the biggest question is where will the best of you be? i am alive at the indianapolis motor speedway less than 24 hours the speedway behind me is expected to be full of 50000 spectators for more than 26 different countries. indianapolis can very well be one of if not the best viewings of the total solar eclipse across the u.s. where else would also be nice? most likely northern new england. states like maine, vermont, new hampshire we also have a front sliding its way eastward and how fast that front progresses is going to show areas where we will have shrouded cloud cover from arkansas all be up to the midwest. down south is the spot we are watching very carefully the lone star state. we have the potential for a lojack of stratus clouds.

that could potentially obscure the view altogether of the total solar eclipse for millions. dallas down to eagle pass for classing many clouds that most spots in the midwest and northeast. we'll be watching us very carefully track it minute by minute right here in "fox weather." jon: fox weather kendall smith in indianapolis. thanks kendall. for more on tomorrow's big event let's bring in mike shanahan is a planetary director of the liberty science center in jersey city, new jersey. yours is the largest of its kind in the country. >> is correct the largest planetarium and all the western hemisphere 89 feet in diameter. what you have planned? >> we are not in the total zone here. it's going to be at 91% coverage of the sun by the moon at the peak. we are having a great eclipse festival from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. the main activity shall be from 1:00 a.m. to

5:00 p.m. armada eclipse is at 2:15 p.m. and goes until 4:30 6:00 p.m. but a solar telescopes on the lawn. we'll also of course have a dj. many astronomy themed foods at critically doing a webcast from here so people can go and see the eclipse happening in places where it is total because that's also a really good in case we have a long stretch of partly cloudy weather here. our planetarium show on every hour throughout the afternoon. jon: even if you are in the path of totality and there are clouds is still going to get dark. you're just not going to be able to see the corona and all the exciting stuff that comes with a and a eclipse. >> if you are in the total zone you'll still have the feeling of darkness in the middle of the day. here where we are with 91% the sunblock is not going to be much of a drop in brightness the sun is incredibly bright that until it goes down to almost nothing showing behind the moon it still looks like a normal day. jon: wow.

what do you tell people about safety? there are people who do not know the right way to look at and eclipse. >> great question. one of the best things we can do the museum field is let people know it is never safe to observe a partial solar eclipse directly. it is more dangerous as less of the sun is visible it may be less painful to look at the sun but it can still do eye damage. so, portly their implantable site nowadays the eclipse the glasses are the safest way to do it. and allow you to observe the partial eclipse directly. jon: i'm told nasa is saying be careful with their smart phones because you can burn the electronics and the lens if you pointed at the eclipse. >> yes pay be very careful if you want to hold this of your camera lens that's probably safe

way to do that do not aim your camera directly at the sun without protection it could fry out your camera. jon: it is my understanding eclipse got you excited enough about your career that you gave up another pursuits to become a planetarium director. affect yes it's funny how things can change your life as going to be a charles dickens colored washington and seattle. a total eclipse in the northwest over 40 years ago with such an awesome experience. it was one of the things that made me realize i would have a more fruitful career going into public astronomy education. which has been my career since the 80s. jon: you have to wonder about how many little kids are going to follow in your footsteps and get into the astronomy business just because of what happens tomorrow. >> and you're in the astronomy education business there is a lot of managing expectations about astronomy events. and meteor shower is

airline and a week and the latest in a series of problems for boeing planes. cb cotton has a look at all of that. >> flight fears continue. passengers on the southbound airline flight looked out the window to spot an while cover had torn off following takeoff. take a look you see the while cover flapping in the wind speed according to tracking site flight aware the boeing 737800 took off from denver international airport around 7:30 9:00 a.m. local time headed for houston. then turned around and landed landed back in denver less than 40 minutes later faa explained to us crewmembers noticed part t of the plane called the while cowling came off and struck want of the aircraft wing flaps we reached out to boeing which referred us to southwest the airline saying in a statement southwest flight 3695 return for denver international airport this morning and landed safely

after experiencing a mechanical issue. our customers arrived at houston hobby on another aircraft up approximate three hours behind schedule. we apologize for the inconvenience of their delay to place our highest priority at ultimate safety for our customers and employees. our maintenance teams are reviewing the aircraft. today's incident as you mention bell is a series of other safety concerns for the aerospace manufacturer. boeing, less than two weeks ago boeing ceo announced he was stepped out of the end of the year payback in january as we all know was how the frightening video alaska airlines boeing 77 max nine had its panel blown out. back to you. jon: you have to wonder what the passengers are thinking of that on the right side of the plane and look out and see their while coming apart. >> jon as lake of social media after this. not too much reaction from passengers. i will say we reached out to boeing they referred us back to southwest airline.

i talked to some aviation experts. they pointed me too a really interesting post a pilot made on x. he said what happened this morning on this plane does not present an immediate threat that would have brought this aircraft down pretty he did say though that a pilot should have caught it on his or her visual inspection of the plane before taking off. i thought that was an interesting post. i also want to point out again this was not a boeing 737 max nine but rather a boeing 7:30 seven 800. jon: still a fairly late model plane as jets go. cb cotton, thanks. israel pulling a division of its military forces out of seven gaza has today marks six months of war on the gaza strip. idf said that 98 division has

lucas tomlinson is live at the white house with more. >> it appears president biden got what he wanted. israeli forces are pulling out of southern gaza ahead of the cease-fire talks in cairo. jon kirby to say where things stand right now. >> we are not blind to the risks the aid workers are end but certainly not blind to the suffering the people of gaza are going through and the president was clear i won't get ahead i will not prejudge decisions he will or won't make it. >> i've not heard from him on this. if he feels so strong it wasn't the president out there talking about it? what you saw his statement triggers a ready paper statement. >> kirby also said israeli forces are pulling out to rest on "fox news sunday" earlier senator chris coons offered a different explanation. >> i presume this is a tactical decision by the idf and israeli leadership in the face of a threat of a real attack from the north, from a trend for a direct attack for my ron.

it is important for all of us who support israel to be clear that we will continue to defend israel against iran or any of its proxies in the region. >> other lawmakers say it's still not clear what exactly the white house position is when it comes to israel. >> president and the white house have yet to lay out what consequences they have and that they want to impose. we have had a situation where for months the president has made requests to the netanyahu government. they have ignored those requests. >> seems like president biden's been asleep at the wheel as he has not responded to the crisis as it has unfolded. and now made public statements criticizing netanyahu, criticizing israel. the next six months into the war over 100 hostages remain captive in gaza at the hands of hamas. tomorrow some of the family says hostages will come urging the white house smith national security advisor jake sullivan. those hostages include some americans.

jon: donald trump making strides in its effort to close in on president biden's lead and campaign fundraising. the former president raking in more than $50 million at his florida donor event smashing the 26 million-dollar record biden set only last month. madison scarpino is live in palm beach florida it with details on this fundraising race. trump is calling it the biggest night and fundraising of all time. nearly doubling what president biden raised at a fundraiser former presidents clinton and obama. this was a first major fundraiser for trump and they ac since he became the party's presumptive presidential nominee. his supporters are contributing

to a cause that will restore our country. everybody wants change the countries doing poorly. i get the change very quickly. >> not just anyone could attend high dollar donors paid anywhere from 200 to $800,000 to eat dinner with the former president. there were some big names at last night's event. like berger who has endorsed from. >> he's concerned with president trump. forget the country going again fights for main street not wall street.

>> grassroots campaign of nurses and teachers and firefighters and cops versus donald trump and a couple billionaires looking for tax cut. >> some donations will go to a political action committee that helps the pace trumps legal bills. his campaign said the pack also covers other expenses. this fundraising dollars will also help trump close the gap with president biden here is $90 million last month. it also has more cash on hand with $192 million compared to trumps $93 million. both the trump and biden have fundraisers this upcoming week. this new push to raise more money has really just begun. jon: all right madison in palm beach florida, thank you. as donald trump tries to close in on president biden's campaign cash lead the republican party is planning its campaign

strategy and the battleground states. gopac chairman joins me now. let's talk about money for a minute. you are the current president hundred million dollar fdollarsfundraising lead on ther president that seems insurmountable. but how important is the campaign cash? >> the famous senator mark hanna said in 1895 there's only two 1o important things in politics. one is in money and i can't remember the second. [laughter] which always gets a good chuckle. we are looking at an election here that's not as much about raising money to define who each candidate is. americans have a pretty good idea of who joe biden is and who donald trump is it. it is about getting your voters to go to the polls that's why the clip you showed a president trump talk about people want change is strategically smart on their part because if you ask voters in poll after poll who is

most likely to bring about the needed change that is a voter group trump wins overwhelmingly party wins almost 99 -- one among republicans were as if you ask democrats that joe biden only has a 65 -- one advantage over trump. or 65% of democrats believe that. it is a big advantage in the trump message they are being very targeted with what they say. they know the voters need to get out. they will have the money they need to get that message out. and every indication they know exactly what they need to say to do that. jon: as you say money is important in politics the new chair and cochair of the republican national committee talked about the fundraiser last night. on how it sort of changes the game. listen. >> we are going to spend every single dollar that we raise on two key critical core missions

for the rnc which are getting out the vote and protecting the ballots. we are going to make sure we are focusing on the battleground states and districts where we need to be competitive. and making sure every dollar we raise is going to be putting lead on target. next we have the funding to ensure we can train poll workers. across this country. we are making sure we leave nothing to chance the importance of this election. the feeling has been republicans have been behind the eight ball when it comes to early voting, voting by mail, that kind of thing. his short party expecting to catch up this year? >> certainly and their resources will be there to do that. let's go a second to chairman whatley's statement which may be

the understatement of the election so far. you need to have the resources to protect the ballots. we've already seen democrats try to keep donald trump off the ballots are. as we go into this election and you already have the rnc looking at a few legal cases. have filed legal cases and key states to make sure the ballot is protected. particularly in the swing states it. as you see the democrats doing everything they can to use the legal system, to make sure they get a win including trying to keep a robert kennedy off of the ballot. the rnc arguably will spend this much money, if not more than any election before and illegally trying to make sure the ballots are protected. jon: fox news a polling unit took a poll asking voters who do you think is better on some of the key issues that are facing the country right now? i believe it but the results of right now. who do you trust more on the issues?

loose about eight points on abortion. he is up by 20 points over joe biden. those look like promising numbers they have numbers that can change before the election. >> is the one thing will almost be guaranteed at the numbers will shift as this campaign progresses. the challenge for the biden campaign is if you look at who their core constituencies have been. younger voters, self identified moderates, minority voters. those are the very voters biden is having the biggest trouble with right now. where president trump has seen some of his biggest gains. even amongst college-educated women. you look at the recent wall strt journal battleground state polls trump is gaining amongst college-educated women which has been our biggest struggle the last couple of years.

with more on that. >> we are standing on mount christo part over the past couple of days this area has been swarming with the legal migrant activity. our cameras capturing most of it. some point our cameras captured coyote steering us down as a smuggled small groups into the united states some work monitoring of spree keeping their eye on us. some ran away from us as they try to keep their illegal groups undercover. border patrol agent told me and my photography feels like border patrol has lost control of this mountain to human smugglers. we have clearly witnessed over the past couple of days in illegal enterprise on this mountain. coyotes are brazen we are told they will throw rocks to try to defend their groups of illegal migrants all this is happening a few steps away from the border wall. cooks are at the base in new mexico but you can clearly see where the wall stops here and humans can pass right through the area. we saw a small group of men

crossed through here. one of them took off running. >> this is that video of the two men who breezed right past our border wall in sutherland park, new mexico. one of the men presumably the scout or coyote another man took off running into the desert. we have seen border patrol to migrants in dark clothing running away at the base of the mountain trying to evade law enforcement ultimately border patrol did get a hole of them. we have seen apprehensions today as well. this is happening only a few miles across the state line from texas which right now is a much different scene there as the governor isn't bolstering his border and his hotspots with enhanced razor wire anticline fencing. >> matt finn at the border in new mexico. thank you. let's bring in arizona congresswoman debbie lesko for her take on the border

situation. congresswoman homan security secretary mayorkas is being impeached this week. the articles will be presented to the senate. what is going to come of that? >> i sure hope there is going to be a trial because it is a lawful immigration we thought it through. we passed it out of the house. now i believe chuck schumer should have a trial. unfortunately he's probably going to try to have a vote to dismiss its without even looking at the case. the democrats that vote for dismissing it they're going to be on record in the swing states. >> of voters who might find their position, their vote on a popular potentially could take it out on them in november. >> you are absolutely right. same thing is happening in arizona.

he is trying to pretend he's for border security but he is not. i served with him in the arizona state legislature years ago. he is very liberal he's always voted against border security pretty voted against sb 1070 a number of years ago. that summer to what texas is trying to do now. the federal government is not enforcing border laws. >> what does congress what is the role congress has in all of this? is there anything congress can do to try to beef up the situation of the border? >> republicans and the house certainly have tried but we passed a really strong border security. enforcer chuck schumer and the senate won't hear it. individual bills there's illegal

immigrant has dui that should be deported. guess what, the democrats on the house voted against it. i think the only thing we are going to be able to do is type funding to border security. so i wish we would have done that on the funding bill that we just passed. but we didn't sue. now were going to have to tie it to either fiscal year 25 funding or israel funding or ukraine funding or something. we have to secure our border. my constituents are fed up with this open border. jon: that is what frustrates a lot of people it does not seem to be a clear way in washington to get anyone think that you want better border security affected tied to a bill involving a grain or israel. it seems nuts. >> it is absolutely nuts. i am so frustrated. i've got to gop caucus meetings and told spe speaker johnson i o
