it's really all systems go right now. it's an ai tech boom. >> the next industrial revolution has begun. companies and countries are partnering with nvidia to shift the trillion dollar installed base and build a new type of data centre. ai factories. to produce a new commodity artificial intelligence. >> that's right. there are trillions, not billions, children's being spent in this new era and a transition underway. nvidia said their biggest customers are cloud providers accounting for almost half of their data centre revenue. the founder and even richer worth over $83 billion and will crack the 20 richest in the world. it's really a testament to the great system we live in.

i will begin with you i want to show the dow a lot of folks at home are doing -- thinking this ai plan is shooting for the stars and it's soaring. the dow's tubman. aaron what happened? >> the big thing with nvidia we have to remember it as is semiconductor which we are not going to go out and buy those ourselves we will probably leave that to the google and microsoft's. the problem is those people, the customers we mentioned are having a realtime making profits out of ai, still figuring out the software and figuring out how to make things more profitable and make it more usable for companies and users like us. so pack while nvidia is able to make these chips and sell them like crazy, it's difficult for other companies to really see profits. that's what we're seeing in the dow, almost out of their companies pulling back and saying we will peep profitable

on ai just yet. >> martha: yes a lot of them i could tell there is this notion things we'll not be easy and an inflationary environment that's easing a little bit. so tim, let me ask you a bit about the ai phenomenon. a lot of people like to harken back to the days of the internet for him. i always like to say to people a lot of those people aren't making money and certainly when it comes to nvidia and always of the players they are, this is the distinction, we are winning for another boom that turns into another bus. what do you think of that? and their -- >> there are some similarities in the internet revolution that started in the mid-nineties. we don't really know where the whole ai revolution is going. 1 of the big differences of what's going on right now is

nvidia and what's going on with qualcomm and elite nineties a lot of customers ended up going out of business and not being able to pay for the product they had on order. where is a lot of nvidia's biggest customers like the 3 mentioned by susan are paying for this product upfront before it's even produced or shipped to them because those companies are awash in cash. when they call up nvidia and say they want to buy 500 of their latest and greatest chips and they say okay send us a check for $20 million. they send the check. >> martha: they want to be ahead of each other. that's a good point. >> it's a big difference from cost -- companies that were like buying things and not being able to pay the bill. >> neil: the backdrop to this,

everyone pays neil: to the federal reserve, some underlying strength that would normally be good news but i guess its pushed back on this notion we're going to see with rates cut anytime soon. it depends on the day i know. where are you on this and what the fed does? >> i think we're going to have some trouble getting cuts this year. i look at some of the commodity prices and energy prices i know the fed like to say they exclude but energy affects everybody's prices. i think we're seeing a big run-up in natural gas that we affects you're bills. >> neil: the american people don't buy it. >> and natural gas is basically doubled in the past month. i think people will see higher utility bills and that's going to affect the consumer. i think expecting rate cuts from the inflation side i don't think we are out of the water yet.

but again as you said it depends on the day. [ laughter ] >> neil: so tim let me get you're sins -- sense of where we call on this. we talked about artificial intelligence it's picked up considerably the past year, it's been around a while. but it is real and not a fake phenomenon. how do you look at it? >> i don't think is a -- it is a fake phenomenon. in 1994 and 1995 when you and i first started to receive our first e-mails, we didn't know, known could have predicted where we're going to be be in 1998. ethically fed a similar situation right now with ai. i don't think it's something that's just going to blow up and go away. but on the other hand, we are nowhere near trouble pair turned, we are in maybe the first inning. we only started talking

what that is telling you is new york state is shifting. and new york state is in play. the reason its in play is new york city people are getting tired of the direction of where thanks are going and are frustrated. i think trump is making a smart decision, it's his birth state. technically still his home state because this is what made in terms of a business person. i think he is making the right decision. ronald reagan came and campaigned because he thought he had a better solution for american cities and ultimately new york 10 years later elected a republican mayor. if you look at who gets credit for new york -- turning the city around, both republican. >> neil: i wanted you're thoughts on joe biden's outreach in general.

he had a kind of negative address to the african-american crowd, what did you make of that? >> when he spoke at the morehouse college address, historically black college for men in atlanta, i was shocked because it didn't have an american story. these young men had worked for years to then go out into the world and be prepared to compete. they started with a sense of optimism. i thought about it and i contrasted to obama's speech in 2013 where he encourage personal responsibility and there's no better time in america for them to go on and compete. and don't expect it to be easy because it was more difficult for the people who came before them. they figured it out and so should they. >> neil: but he more or less told the crowd you are kind of wasting you're time. i would've just said i might as well quit now.

>> en sway his numbers are so dumb. america is an optimistic nation, is the greatest nation in the world and the land of opportunity. people from all over the world come here for that opportunity. those of us who are already here have a great president. is lost any sense of vision for this country and doesn't provide any sense of opportunity or optimism. he is articulated or presented very few policies that benefit the african-american community. so what does he do? new reality is you're not hearing african-americans being harassed and there are terminus opportunities for americans in this country. i am an example of that. i think he does our country a disservice and blacks a disservice and

recognize the obvious no matter how big or small they are. customers telling us they need a break, is that having any impact at all? >> the reason they're doing that is they need but traffic in the door. using some slowdowns. i maybe need to take a little bit of that -- but anyway when it comes to fast food and wendy's the targets of the world, they are offering these discounts because they need for traffic in the door. the franchisees of mcdonald's are upset with this five-dollar and 4 for 4 and 5 for 5 because they lose money. >> neil: we are at that point and that could be the point prices come down. >> i think we've been at that point for a while. the access to credit is still there. middle class america is still borrowing money. another 4 children -- $4 trillion in available involving credit cards and that we'll be used. until it is lowered middle class america we'll be in debt.
