at least 15 people are dead in texas, oklahoma, and arkansas and hundreds of thousands are still without power. search and rescue operations underway in multiple states as forecast call thes if for more storms good evening i'm jon scott and this is the "fox report." jon: take a look at some stunning pictures out of texas that show the scope of the damage there. fox team coverage for you this evening. fox weather meteorologist atom cloths standing by and max gordon with the hardest hit communities in arkansas. max. >> building collapsed powerlines down in some areas scent of national gas hangs heavy in the air. significant damage here in rogers, arkansas, benton county judge says one person is dead. it is unclear how many people were injured when this early morning twister struck this community. we talk to one man who says his

house sustained major damage. >> we have stakes sticking out of -- stone, we have a tree in our living room. we have windows blown out. it flooded the house. it was raining real hard. it's -- it's not livable. but we're going to do our best. reporter: over the course of saturday evening and sunday morning there are at least 25 reports of tornadoes and five different states. in north, tk cooke county sheriff office says that seven are now confirmed dead after a tornado hit a mobile home park. some of the dead, children and the sheriff says that number of fatalities could go up. dozens also injured the a travel center in north texas in mayes county, oklahoma emergency managers say two dead after another tornado hit there. several people there are also injured. in boone county, arkansas, sheriff office says their jail and sheriff buildings were hit with storm damage and no officers or inmates were injured in in addition to the person killed in benton county arkansas, two others killed in the state in baxter and olvi

counties hundreds of thousands without power in the heart land due to the storms and no ac amid sweltering temperatures ahead for statisticky community for those hit by the tornadoes. jon back to you. jon: fox weather max gordon, in arkansas, thank you. >> that outbreak shifting to mississippi and tennessee river valleys some areas that were devastated yesterday might not be out of the woods yet fox weather meteorologist adam with the forecast. adam: another round of severe weather and another system across the country and a one two punch. there's been an initial round of storms that's been leading the way on this now pushing up across the mountains in some cases right across portions of ohio. all of these yellow boxes big severe storms any time you see a red box a tornado warning a possible tornado on the ground there turn pink if that was

confirmed by spotters but seeing rotation that means a tornado could be there running this further south. those big thoarms continue to stretch all the way just to the north side of asheville running you into portions of eastern tennessee. now this is around 1:00 we've been waiting a little bit for round two which actually has better risk of big severe thunderstorms those started to fire up in the last hour. there's a good chance these turn into tornadoes into the evening and gofer night evening hours and into the north side of st. louis, that is a severe warned thunderstorms. winds at 70 miles per hour tornado possibly you see that tag. any one of the discreet cells those are thunderstorms now but winds are right right now that they could start to spin and any one could back tornado and 70 miles per hour winds are powerful enough to do some serious damage. this is really the area we're paying attention to and this is this second line of storms that's not the first line of storms so this is now a four on a scale of five.

for a risk of severe weather we're expecting those thunderstorms i just showed you to become severe into the overnight hours tornadoes included we're back on a four on scale of five here for tornado risk that includes areas here across portion of southern illinois, and then kind of surrounding all of these states that's kentucky, that's tennessee. but again a area here right along the mississippi river where tornadoes are going to be prevalent. we continue to watch that initial round drift out of here and then this continues to be robust until 9 p.m. central time. you're watching all of those storms move across kentucky, move ultimately into ohio. it does wind down as we head overnight jon but there's several hours of severe weather on the way. jon: scary stuff meteorologist adam thank you. >> former trump attending the sold out coca-cola 600 great race is a nascar event with drivers with speeds up to 150 miles per hour.

madison live at north carolina, at the charlotte motor speedway there. madison. reporter: hello jon this is the first time that a former or sitting president has been at the coca-cola 600 and former president trump made his arrival here by flying over charlotte motor speedway in his plane and i got to say the crowd just erupted in cheers. take a look at some of this video we're getting in and jon i'll tell you that walking around the track all day there was quite a bit of people wearing some attire waving flags in support of the former president and former president trump met with a gold star family to kick things off at speedway speaking of gold star family members this is on memorial day weekend and right now you're taking a live look out here. they're doing the national anthem. the racetrack is really emphasized supporting those fallen soldiers and really honoring them today here at the

iconic race. you're taking a look at president trump here right now. saluting for the national anthem, and we actually got a chance today to speak to last year's coca-cola 600 winner ryan blaineny here's what he had to say about the race. >> this one, really tough to win. i mean, 600 miles you know going through the night that's a long time for us to be in the car and mentally stay in it. whole team involved as well. reporter: we're expecting to see the green flag at about 15 minutes or so and coca-cola 600 is the longest race of this season. jon. jon: madison sorry we have to come to the you in the national anthem there charlotte motor speedway madison, thank you. >> the last year i've been indicted by the government or 91 different things. so if i wasn't a libertarian before, i sure as hell am a libertarian now.

dero wrote donald trump will address the libertarian party, and national convention on saturday. the libertarian party should nominate trump for president of the united states. wow. that's nice -- jon: that's former trump giving mixed reception at libertarian convention in washington and made his pitch telling libertarian crowd by joining forces greater chance of defeating joe biden in november. meantime, president biden is on his way from delaware back to washington now. he's expected to soon break his silence on the new york versus trump criminal trial. and he's been invited to attend a peace summit in switzerland next month as russia war on ukraine rages on. mark meredith live at the white house with all of that. mark. reporter: good evening white house aid says u.s. will have a presence at upcoming peace

summit in switzerland but we don't know if president biden will be the person to attend ever a public invitation from ukraine's leader. ukrainian president volodymr zelenskyy invited biden and xi jinping to attend in june he says having the leaders of two major superpowers there would convey gravity of the world to desire to see the war between russia and ukraine end. during his speech to west point graduateses on saturday president biden doubled down on support for ukraine even as war stretches on now for more than two years. >> there are no american soldiers at war in ukraine. i'm determined to keep it that way. but we are standing strong with ukraine and we will stand with them. reporter: later this evening the president back at the white house after spenting part of his holiday weengsd at his delaware estate there are reports, though, the white house is still strategizing on how to respond to the end of former president trump criminal trial in new york. politico had an interesting bit in which they say, quote, biden

intends to initially address verdict in a white house setting not a campaign one. to show his statement was to discuss internal deliberations so we don't know when that verdict will happen but the reports are that the white house will have some sort of very public response to this. the president himself will be back on the campaign trail later this week up to philadelphia on wednesday and hearing from democrats up on hill who say it is important to show united front and believe to remove talk of biden not on the ticket out of the way. >> we're well past that conversation. you know, president biden is going to be the nominee we're going to have our convention, and he's going to win in november. reporter: and it it is hard to believe but tomorrow will mark one month until the first presidential debate that's the within that's going to be happening down in atlanta, jon so much earlier than we're used to in presidential politics but biden campaign says they have ads ready to go and ready to fire up to talk about this. between now and the debate a month from now.

jon. jon: mark meredith at the white house. mark, thank you. >> reason why i'm here. is because thousands of my constituents back in miami are terrified, terrified when the courts in this country are used as weapons to crush our political enemies. donald trump is not the only one going through trial. we all are. jon: that's florida congresswoman maria salazar one who came to new york to show support for donald trump ahead of his trial as it enters final stages she sits on the house foreign affairs and small business committees. what is it congresswoman that made you decide to come up to new york and make that statement? >> thank you for having me exactly for what i said. i represent the city of miami. heart of the cuban exile community or venezuelan and we have seen what's happening in new york before. political trials happen in banana republics not in the united states of america. and i said before, that clip

that regardless of what you think of donald trump what you think about him. what you feel about him whether you're going vote for him or not it is good for us to tell you that what's happening in new york city it is not what's happening is not part of the american system. the judicial system is revered as part of our american agenda. and that look what's happening. it is being used to crush one of your political opponents not here. not in the united states. jon: now that genie is out of the bottle if former president trump were to be reelected, one can easily imagine the same kind of -- law fair if you will being inflicted on his political enemies. >> well not really. and that's not where we expecting from any government or any administration. we have to -- we have to preserve the angle american agenda. we have to preserve the american exceptionality and that is why we're here, and that's why i'm saying it. if we -- in this community, we know very well what's happening in this

country. it is impossible let me just give you three pieces of info. so you see that what's happening in new york is inconceivable. it is impossible to bring anyone to trial if you don't have the charges clearly defined, a, b, there are no audiorecordings or television cameras inside the courtroom. why? those two things are very suspicious. the fact that six years ago the federal prosecutors, federal prosecutors did not want to touch this case, and then now state prosecutors believe that it is good time to be -- to be put trump on trial because we have five or there are five -- going to have elections five months from now it is all very suspicious and i go back. we cannot destroy what we have regardless of whether you're republican or democrat. we're all americans and we love the system. so let's preserve it. jon: you talked about venezuelans and cubans whom you represent in great numbers in miami.

we have a lot of people coming across the southern border right now. chuck schumer reintroduced the border security bill in the senate. it died again. but he says it's the republicans fault because republicans want to make it a political issue. what's your response? >> what is the evidence once again? president biden has been in the white house for three and a half years. for three and a half years, we've had open borders. we have eight million people who have come into this country. those are facts. two million got aways. you look at the border you see that if you talk to the border patrol they are overwhelmed is the first time in the history of this country. that an administration whether it is republican or democrat has allowed for this chaos to occur. and now, the democrats like mr. schumer he brings up this bill that he knows very well that is not going to pass and it is just a little band-aid on a very big wound. president biden has decided to go to the southern border, it's the worst thing and i'm talking

to my fellow hispanics the largest minority in the country the most important minority in this country. is that what biden has done to the hispanics, by allowing that border to be open is the worst thing that he could have done to our community in the last 50 years. you know why? because subject of immigration to fix both parties need to fix immigration has been poisoned to that word is poisened because we have to first look at the border. we've got to seal the border so we can put some order. you see so it is worst thing that could have happened and that's why i'm so -- i'm so distraught because they are, immigration needs to be, needs to be talked about but not right now because look at what's happening at the border. jon: the president -- that's the problem with politics in d.c.. and that's why americans have lost -- some faith in it. jon: president spokeswoman says it is not his fault. listen. >> why should he have to do it

jon: sirens blared in tel-aviv for first time in months after hamas fired rockets from gaza. >> oh, oh -- [sirens] jon: meanwhile israeli forces are moving farther into rafa. trey yingst is in tel-aviv with more for us. trey. >> jon good evening nearly eight months into the war between israel and hamas, rockets are still being fired towards central israel. today hamas launched a barrage to tel-aviv and eight of them were fired from gaza southernmost city of rafa and you can see damage to the house and hertzlei after rockets slammed into the building and two were home another piece of rocket landed in a field nearby.

here in the city just north of tel-aviv, you can see one of the rockets that was launched earlier today by hamas. from gaza southernmost city, of rafa. some of the shrapnel bid fire dome after traveling nearly 70 miles. this comes as we continue to track the landing craft and piece of a floating pier stuck on israeli beach. we're learning more about what exactly took place. saturday night into sunday morning, the two american floating piers off the coast of gaza were being moved to the port due to bad sea conditions. here's what we saw at the scene over the weekend. overnight u.s. navy and army were in the process of moving the floating piers off the coast of gaza to the port of ashdod due to sea conditions and one floated ashore and got stuck and now the vessel behind me was being used to try and rescue that piece when had also got stuck. now, the americans are working with their israeli counterparts

things can have is netanyahu come. >> what concerns you about that? >> it is unconscionable somebody who is -- his crimes are about to be prosecuted. by the icc, why in the world would we invite him to address us? >> netanyahu addressed a joint meeting of congress in march of 2015. but views about israel and the makeup of house democrats shifted since then. >> i think that our central goal should be to establish a lasting peace and permanent cease-fire, and i don't think that we should be rewarding individuals who -- are not focused as focused or committed to that aim as u.s., as u.s. administration. >> she's wrong because israel is most important ally in the region. >> illinois democrat brad schneider is jewish airedden supporter of israel in congress. i think everyone should comment and hear the prime minister.

it is important that we especially at this time reaffirm that commitment to them. jon: hamas set this war in motion. it's still holds maybe 150 hostages that it took on the day that it came across the border and murdered civilians and raped women. so why is hamas and the palestinians, why are they enjoys so much worldwide support right now? >> it's interesting to me because if the protesters you know, one we cannot leave them behind but we also can't have a president who allows college protesters to dictate our foreign policy. it is really -- you know if there's about humanitarian aid i would love to know where college protesters were and have been for the last i don't know over a decade where syrian president bashar al-assad has been murdering his civilians and if this is about humanitarian aid but you're seeing this worldwide this motivation to somehow back -- you know, a terrorist organization that has been, you

know, in charge of palestine for a long time here, and yet this is how they treat their people because they put palestinians in harm's way by using them as human shields. jon: international criminal court is talking about bringing charges against benjamin netanyahu and his defense minister yoav goplant over war crime but they're not talking the same thing for hamas and they're talking about israelis on october 7th it seems that scales have tilted in a very strange way here. >> i would agree with you and i also think there hasn't been enough focus on the fact that as you mentioned there are still hostages that we could be pushing to release. we still have american citizens in there. and i just -- i worry about what this says to the rest of the world so are we -- susceptible to letting, you know, social media and tiktok and different platforms influence our young people so they can basically then hold

hostage their college campus and dictate our foreign policy? we need to show a backbone and unfortunately we have not seen that from the white house thus far and it does need to think back to afghanistan and disastrous withdrawal and can't afford to let this happen again and with a role that's important that america plays on the world stage, right now we need to reaffirm our support it our allies. not just by words but by action. and so, i have been very frustrated but to see, you know, a lack of responsibility and a lack of standing up, you know, and standing with allies by the president an i don't know that's going help them come november. >> on a per capita basis october 7th far worst for israelis than 9/11 was for this country eight month after 9/11 we had a war going in afghanistan. we invaded that country about and we didn't have the world telling us to back down. >> right and we -- you know president bush stood there and, you know, the world hears you. we are going to get these people

request in federal transparency laws that's what we learned this week. jon: this perp working that hard to keep secrets some of their e-mails it makes you wonder what they knew about covid's origins. >> well we know there were emergency meetings going on early in the pandemic. when the rest of the united states was trying to figure out covid, doctor fauci and his crew were engaging in emergency meetings to figure out how to get an article published by independent virologist to say it did not come from the lab and they told him it came from the lab and changed tune ten days later and nothing in dr. fauci e-mails. we now know that there was a massive effort to sort of delete these. if you look at one of the e-mails, of dr. morin group they founded wuhan lab, he said,

after they got another 7.5 million dollar graduate after the initiation of covid and the pandemic, morin said do i get a kick back too much fing money and we discuss and the sipght of the grants replied now there's a kickback and morin saying it was a joke and this is bangter we've seen with this cozy relationship among mr. daszak and fauci office. >> supposed to testify in front of that congressional committee if you have a chance to question him. what would be your first questionsome? >> it is going to be very difficult to pin him down on anything. first of all he's been preparing for over a year with lawyers for this particular public hearing. and he's smart. he's not put anything in e-mail. the last time he was pressed on important covid questions most common answer was that he didn't remember. i don't think we're going to discover anything big. i think whether or not there was

of course, and that means beach season is officially here. families across the country are flocking to the nation's shores to try to bask in the soon to be summer vibes. but in some spots, things might look a little bit different owing to a nationwide life guard shortage. cb cotton live in rock away beach. >> this weekend marks return of all of our favorite summer past times one of those being the beach and it is misty and humid out here. earlier it was much sunnier jon new york city has not been spared from the nationwide life guard shortage why you see flags on this strep of shoreline no swimming and another reason why, city leaders here and community leaders across the country have reminded everyone that if you do plan to swim in the ocean over the holiday weekend, it is best to do so in an area with a life guard on duty. but staffing life guards has become more and more challenging across the nation.

rock away beach on this memorial day weekend cb cotton, thanks cb. well memorial day does mark the unofficial beginning of summer but it looks like it could be a wet welcome for many americans. fox weather meteorologist adam klotz here now with the forecast. adam. adam: wet welcome especially along the east coast and severe storms are tracking over the last several days are going to be the main concern. they're going to continue to shift towards the east. but beginning with where they are this big line of severe thunderstorms this is leading edge moving over the appalachian mountains and all of the mississippi valley you're looking at several -- the severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings and a couple of confirmed tornadoes currently on the ground eep of these purple boxes is that but we're seeing tornado that's currently on the ground making its move. i expect many more of these in hours to come we've got a setup here with a four on scale of five that's exactly what we saw yesterday. we saw a bunch of big tornadoes

overnight. we're in position where we could see something similar here as we head overnight tonight ultimately running up close to nashville but neferg that purple color box that pink colored box is where the severe weather is going to be. now all of this pushes itself a little bit more along the east coast ultimately making it to a lot of those beaches. you notice big difference here, though, a two on scale of five, tomorrow on a four of five and weaken as it gets along east coast. the risk of severe weather is much lower. but it is still going to be big thunderstorms could ruin some plans as you're talking about major cities getting in on this from new york to philly d.c. and continues to stretch a little further south that includes atlanta ultimately is this entire system settles along east coast. going to be a sol soggy one for sure. otherwise, though, you look at the forecast across the country i showed you where that system will sit mostly on east coast for folks in the middle of the country especially out west, jon, it is looking like a really nice memorial day. but unfortunately for folks on

jon: the fresno zoo caught the moment one of their kangaroos made a furry new friend seen a new visitor to its small enclosure a small gopher. the gang kangaroo excited to make a new friend and did get jumpy to the end of their introduction. romeo american steer got a second chance at life and now he's a guinness world record holder that's right at 6'4" and more, romeo is officially the tallest living steer. romeo grew to that impressive height after he was rescued from a dairy farm at just ten days old. guess he drank his milk. he now lives at an animal sanctuary in oregon with his brother milo. congratulations. police in florida were called to help save a tiny helpless animal on a busy highway.
