>> . it is 5:00 in new york city. this is a special edition of "the five." it is memorial day and americans hitting the beach and firing off their grills to kick off the unofficial start of the summer season but we cannot forget the true meaning of today, remembering the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. we honor and salute our heroes today and every day. coming up, we have a jam-packed show for you. we are facing off in a summer shopping showdown with some of our favorite items. we will answer your fan mail questions. we will dive in with hot topics to celebrate the summer season. americans are ready to pack up

their cars and hit the open road. a majority of travelers are planning to take a road trip this summer. you must love a road trip. >> not only am i taking a road trip, i am selling used cars. we are starting july 5th at my stand up gig in vegas and driving to colorado springs. we are going to go through arizona, new mexico, and somewhere around the colorado border, my wife will rent a separate car. >> judge jeanine pirro, do you like a road trip? >> i love a road trip. >> do you have one plan? >> no. >> i will go anywhere but nobody will accept me with my dogs.

we will go to content etiquette -- to connecticut and new jersey and come home. >> the adirondacks, i have never done that. >> harold ford jr., do you like to pack up the kids >> we are going to spend time in michigan over the summer up in harbor springs. the kids will get a chance to get a lot of outdoor stuff. i want to take my kids to memphis and go all the way across the state. we used to do that. we would take two and three days to do it. my kids could only withstand and we can only withstand them across state, so we will see if we can get that done this

questions. as a kid, judge, what was your favorite outdoor activity? >> when i was a kid i used to love to go to the park. most kids do. you go down the slide and then as you get older, the amusement park and swimming. use to look to swimming. >> jimmy? >> i was a big bike rider. we played a lot of wiffle ball, tag. cops and robbers, cowboys and elizabeth warren's. the point is i loved those type of street gangs. >> i loved the amusement parks. i loved to roller-skate. i had roller-skates. i am pretty good. i will have a contest with you.

>> what was your favorite outdoor activity? >> diving board. when the lifeguards don't watch, you get a friend to double balance you so you can get a lot of air. >> you are the reason public pools don't have diving boards. >> in bedminster, they have diving boards. >> loved playing basketball, roller-skating and there was an amusement park called liberty land we used to go to. >what is your favorite memorial day weekend tradition. >> barbecuing. this memorial day, i am in l.a. >> this is new for me but that is the kickoff for the first tennis lesson of the season. my coach, friend, he comes from argentina for six months and he teaches us. that is the kickoff.

the appointment and everybody rode back and said that is not tomorrow, it is friday. i live in fear i am going to miss it. >> i have that anxiety so i set reminders in my phone. mine has an 8:00 a.m. or minor and a corresponding alarm clock. when you forget things in public, they will make you president. >> i remember missing an event because the reverse. a couple came to my house, we were having a party. they came to my house dressed up with a package, the whole thing and it wasn't the date of the party. when they rang the gate, they said we think we are early. and i said oh, boy. i open the gate and tried to make them feel comfortable. we will have a drink, let's have cocktails. i felt terrible.

only guy on the road was me in a police helicopter overhead and we were flying and i was so alive. it was great. just me and him, like a personal escort. >question number three. are you able to sleep in on days off or are you forever an early riser? >> i do wake up early but on saturdays and sundays i wake up slightly later than usual. my weekly wake-up time is 4:4 45. if i sleep until 6:15 on saturday, that is a win. >> 10:00 a.m. after morgan wallin and this morning, 6:30. i am back on track. >> you are back. we all have a process. >> my son, he will not get up for school on time he gets up at 6:00 a.m. on saturdays. i say why? he says dad, i have a full day

in front of me. i cannot blame him. i am an early riser. >> i used to be a real early riser but i get up now about 7:00. when i can, i will sleep extra hours. >> in my 20s i would wake up early, 4:00 a.m., that is when the sprinklers would come on in the park and you feel the water on the bench. my problem is now i rarely get to sleep in but jenny puts an alarm on her phone for seven days a week and it only needs to be there for five. last saturday, the one chance i could sleep till 9:00 and alarm goes off at 6:10 in the morning. >> did you get up and seize the day? >> if you mean tap the keg, yes. final question, if you could live anywhere in the world and do "the five" -- he is envisioning another pandemic. where would you live? >> i knew you were going to come
