happened there. >> that's right. this happened in california 30 minutes south of downtown, los angeles. authorities say they responded to call around 9:30 p.m. local time on saturday and found a secret service agent whose bag was stolen at gunpoint. secret service says the agent fired his gun unclear if the suspect or suspects were hit. no one has been taken into custody. but police are asking for the public's help. and they have got this photo of a car that was spotted leaving the area. secret service says thankfully the agent wasn't hurt. he was coming back from a work assignment. president biden returned to his close to 9 p.m. that evening star studded fundraiser as you mentioned included former president barack obama, gorge clooney and julia roberts. lego stores hot targets for california theft rings. the "l.a. times" reporting two suspects allegedly stole more than $100,000 worth of lego items from six southern

>> steve: keep in mind this particular poll was taken a month ago. something more telling is the fact that when you look at what is happening in the state of iowa, which had the first contest with the iowa caucuses. donald trump is making great strides right now be he is -- look at that 18 points ahead of joe biden. >> ainsley: that poll was after the conviction. >> steve: that one was. that's that is perhaps a better reflection of where people's heads are. >> brian: there was a poll done since the conviction. independents, 21% thinking -- rethinking who they are voting for after the conviction. so, that's why i assume joe biden's campaign thought it would be great idea to roll out convicted felon donald trump. and they are going with $50 million worth of ads to reinforce that i don't know if they had time to ad hunter biden's name into that keep in mind, too. you don't see that a lot coming from joe biden. you see it coming from his campaign. i wonder how aggressive is he

york times" this morning. and ainsley, you have been talking about this for a while. the state of florida. they say that -- democrats are seeing glimmers of hope for the democratic party in florida. now, keep in mind it's an almost impossible state to win for democrats right now. gift fact there are 1 more registered republicans than democrats and 3 million unaffiliated people two ballot issue in forgives going to put part-time in the voting booth in november. one of them abortion and the other is recreational pot. and so they are thinking that's going to get their base out plus. for the most part, florida has a little higher average age. a lot of those people, the democrats say are sympathetic to joe biden. it's going to be an imocket. but any just say the "new york times" point is it's making it interesting in florida. >> brian: maybe republicans have to spend. rick scott close to elections.

i know the house is up in arms but there is a senate version of the national defense authorization act, which has got a lot of stuff in it, but it includes, this wire women to register for the draft. >> steve: right. >> brian: i don't know if we are ready for this. the u.s. armed services committee send it out of committee. quote it amends the military service act selective service. just registering. it doesn't mean you have been drafted. larynx. >> brian: i i have been registered for a while. lawrence lawrence not like a period of time where war could not be at the brink. if there was any time that a woman would be drafted it's now. when you look at the national stage. >> brian: we're not even close to that. >> steve: volunteer army. >> lawrence: volunteer army recruitment all-time lows. not doing a great job with that. if we continue to insert ourselves in international conflicts, we could be right there as well.

but, i just think as an american principle, we typically, men defend our family and seems like we are going back in time. >> ainsley: this will be year for fiscal year 25. authorizes 4.5% pay raise for military. >> that's good. >> increases basic pay for the junior enlisted service members. it does require women to register for the draft, for these select services. i will tell how this scares moms? older moms that have teenage boys or 20-year-old boys or girls now. >> here's thing. and brian you are right about that. you know, right now there is no draft. young men are automatically registered now. >> lawrence: required to by law. >> brian: do you have to go. >> steve: here's the thing. this passed 22-3 with 10 republicans on the committee. so a majority of the republicans voted for this. and here's the thing. the senate has repeatedly passed

military and we support it. but, for my daughter, i would be really -- she is 8. but if she is able to serve in her 20's. i would like for her to make that decision. >> steve: listen, i'm the oldest one on the couch. i was of age during the vietnam war. so my number was in the pool. i had a very high number. but it was the last year of the draft. >> ainsley: did you have friends that went? >> steve: a lot of my friends from high school went the older class men. >> ainsley: how did you feel. >> brian: know problem registering for the draft. >> ainsley: select supervisors what is would it be desk job? >> brian: there is everything. we go in there and you can be in the band. you know, not everyone just goes over there with face paint on. >> how do they decide who is in the battle though? >> i think lawrence would ultimately decide. >> lawrence: the reality of it is you can give options. but it's what is the need of the

military at the time? >> ainsley: that's true, if your country needs you. >> i don't think so that they are somehow going to send women to the frontline. i think this is just another strike of america going away from our traditional values of men serving and protecting. israel has to do it because they have a small force. america is not in that same position. >> steve: also remember what warfare is like these days, so much of is remote. guys with joysticks. it's drones, it's bombs dropped from two miles up. >> lawrence: there is a ton of women that are watching isr over the night protecting our guys. i don't want to discredit. like my said my dr. grandmother my grandmother wasin the milita. we should do our duty. maybe if we had actual recruitment videos weren't so woke and trying to hit every gender ideology the recruitment would go up. talk about the greatness of america. make people proud to serve again. we wouldn't have to do this.

point. people in country illegally now potentially going to be enforcing the law. with that said, there are some aspects to this that i don't think are the worst thing in the world. right? you have a department that is in dire need of some support. and unfortunately, that's due to liberal policies and this is now one of those liberal policies that's trying to make up for it. when you have got kids who came here when they were like 8 years old through no fault of their own, they didn't choose to make that decision. and they want to serve. they want to give back to their communities. they don't see anything inherently wrong with it. the problem however, clearly when we are talking about daca, this is still legally potentially untenable. we don't know where this is going to fall. we also understand that the atf in january of this year provided some new guidance as to whether or not someone who is in this country illegally as a daca recipient can actually hold on to a firearm. we are basing this on atf guidance a letter that could change in january of next year with the new administration.

so there is not a lot of stability here. and i wonder, depending on how many people actually apply who are daca recipients i can't imagine that's a high number. you are going to put them through the courses, put them through training only then to be told never mind we have to as i understand all of this daca program deemed unconstitutional or atf changed its policy. >> pouring money into something that could fade away eventually. >> why can't they hold on to police officers in seattle? >> well, the problem is still stemming from the defund movement. you had a movement that was out there calling cops murderers and racists and unfortunately a city council at the time that embraced and amplified those messages. so people started to leave in huge numbers. the numbers are always worse than what the city actually tells you. i can tell you right now the number of deployable officers in city is under 900. so, consider that i mean, we are a large city, we have a crime wave in particular we are seeing

the rise in violent crime, in property theft, vandalism. and we just don't have enough officers to go around. right now, at the time it is right now in seattle, you likely have fewer officers than is the minimum for a lot of these precincts around the city. so if something were to happen in my neighborhood, for example, right now, you are pulling over cops from different neighborhoods, leaving them vulnerable to potential crime because now they are in my neighborhood where they are not supposed to be patrolling. that's how bad things are. and when you talk to the union president. when you talk to the union members. they don't think this is going to get any better. any time soon. but they are at least feeling a little bit hopeful. we have council that is considerably more moderate in comparison to what we used to have and looking at and this a saying maybe things will start to calm down a little bit on the staffing side. jason, while you are talking there is horrific video of a girl being pushed down the stairs by someone. and he kept going back after her again and again and again and
