president biden is out at camp david. you are on the campaign trail. what is your strategy? >> this is the best strategy. we have all of these people screaming questions. >> do you think he will be good on the stage? >> he will be fine and then he will forget it about an hour after preparing. we will see what happens. >> the former president has been on a swing state to work. temple university in pennsylvania over the weekend. you can see the crowd therefrom yesterday. even with the record heat. it is hot out here in philadelphia. the lines wrapping out around near the event. voters wanted to hear trump's plan to fix the border, crime and inflation. this comes as the latest fox news poll shows 32% of voters say the economy is an excellent or good shape which is the highest approval rating so far during biden's presidency.

david is live at the white house with more and how mr. biden is getting ready on thursday. hello, david. >> hi mike. president biden is keeping a low profile. he is at the presidential retreat camp david in the mountains of maryland. we are expecting somewhat of a quiet week physically here at the white house as the president of the united states conquers down with aids, go through binders, goes through prep questions. the debate kicks off this thursday evening. he spent a few days at his beach house in delaware before heading to the presidential were street camp david. it is not clear if he will go directly from camp david or perhaps make a stop to see supporters before. >> the president has debated donald trump in beat them twice already.

needs to win the fourth quarter. the opening tapas the debate on thursday. >> former president out with the folks in philadelphia. the current president is at camp david hunkering down. what do you make of it and what do you expect on thursday night? >> both are choosing the debate prep style that best fits them. joe biden sitting down with advisors. doing prep at 9:00 p.m. do a 90 minute run-throughs to get himself acclimated to this later debate performance. donald trump is talking to the people, staying engaged. what people are underestimating in donald trump's debate prep is he is already testing lines. he will know what is getting picked up by the media during his speeches and what resonates with his base and other voters because he is out there making these big speeches. i expect some fireworks.

i do expect both of them to yell over the mic at one point versus each other, but at the end of the day i think we see policy discipline debate at this debate from both men. >> the next few weeks taking the running mate for the former president. one person on the short list talking about it today. let's play it. >> with president trump right now, where he is with blacks and people under age 30 people with independence very strong across the board. he can pick someone that he focuses on, let's get something done. >> his emphasis is that former president -- what about that? >> you pick mike pence in 2016. problems with evangelicals. trump has problems. maybe having some opportunity with minority voters. he should pick a woman. the mature choice, i'm not sure

he is mature enough to make that pick. some of the other names like jd vance getting him absolutely nothing. you have to try to solve a problem. >> what is your take on the trump deep stakes. >> i think at this point the top contenders will be at the debate for him. in atlanta. i understand jim's point here about having someone that can solve a problem, electorally, they are not many that are in these deep states that will solve an electoral problem. who can help him govern and for trump you will want someone that does not outshine him anyway and someone that can bring in dollars. it could be a doug berg him. more of a ceo type of background that could help govern that fashion to bring more donors to the base. >> expected announcement right before going to the convention? >> around convention time.

the philadelphia police officers fighting for his life after being shot during a traffic stop last night. the suspect now in custody after two barricade situations. madison is live at the latest. hello, madison. >> the philadelphia mayor said the 31-year-old officer is now on life support after being shot in the neck. city leaders in philadelphia police and everyone else are heartbroken over this brutally injured officer who has been with the philadelphia police for six and a half years. >> a husband, a father and a son that his partner and went to work to do a job that he has been doing for six and a half years. he did not expect that he would be in a fight for his life. >> police say that the suspect started shooting at the victim

and his partner while trying to flee the traffic stop. after the victim spotted a holster in the car. three others were in the car and police say everyone is now in custody. dozens of officers and city leaders gathered outside of temple university hospital in philadelphia last night. emotions were extremely high as everyone was rallying around the officer. >> i guess people across the city of philadelphia to pray. for our officer. pray for the men and women here today that are out in the field knowing they will give their lives for this job. >> the shooting happened in kensington. that part of philly has a severe crime and drug problem. the police commissioner recently called kensington one of the most challenging places in philadelphia and america. we are of course monitoring any updates from the philly police in the hospital on the latest condition of this officer. the big question now is who is a

one part of the layer cake of buying a home right now. you have insurance rates which are skyrocketing pretty much everywhere in the country especially areas prone to natural disasters. and then you have the whole other inflation aspect of every part of living. from grocery prices to replacement cost of being able to do any slight renovation of the home. i am talking with more and more sellers that are saying, listen, i will actually just sit tight and wait. at this point to get something new it would cost me so much more because of these rates because of all of the associated costs that i would rather just stay where i am. >> rent prices are up 21% since president biden took office. records are getting squeezed as well. >> this is what will happen in this kind of inflationary environment. yet the cost of housing just skyrocketing no matter what you are doing. there is no way to actually get shelter from rising cost of shelter. the only thing to do is understand the market you are in

another terrifying incident involving a bowling lane has come to light. a flight forced to turn around after windscreen cracked while in midair. christina coleman has more on this scary situation. hello, christina. >> a flight to san francisco from london had to turn back around and make a landing after windscreen on the jet cracked while the plane was at 40,000 feet. this happened about three hours after the plane took off from london on may 27. the plane was between greenland and iceland. it was reportedly negative 58 degrees outside. some passengers were worried about possible decompression in the cabin. a spokesperson for virginia atlantic said "our flight from london to -- our flight from london heathrow to san francisco returned to heathrow for damage of the outer layer of the car windscreen. at no point was the safety of the aircraft our customers are our cabin crew compromise. the captain made the decision to

return to heathrow where we have the replacement part and tooling in place to fix the issue and avoid further impact to customers in our schedules. boeing has been under complete public scrutiny since january 5 after door panel flew off a boeing 737 fax nine shortly after taking off. other high profile incidents on boeing plane since january include a tire falling off of the plane shortly after takeoff and a boeing 737800 landing in oregon after losing an external panel during a flight from san francisco in march. boeing's president ceo says the company is taking comprehensive actions to strengthen safety and quality. the company's legal troubles are far from over. the new york times is reporting that boeing is waiting to see the department of justice to allow boeing to avoid criminal prosecution for violating the terms of the 2021 settlement in

men can take academic scholarships from women. they have full access to bathrooms locker rooms changing spaces. they can live in dorm rooms with women. very harmful effects this rewrite has but i have been feeling hopeful. twenty-six states suing these preliminary injunctions. they do not have to comply in august when it is set to take effect. >> it is an olympic summer. due on capitol hill to talk about anti-doping efforts after 23 chinese swimmers tested positive for banned substance before the 2021 tokyo olympics. what about trying to keep your old sport clean. >> i always love trying to see athletes get involved in this way. the great and phenomenal michael phelps, allison schmidt, people i've looked up to my whole life. what the world anti-doping agency has done, they have lost
