>> steve: charlie, welcome to "fox & friends." great to be here. >> ainsley: busy busy. >> steve: you got three more hours ahead of you. >> steve: and they start right now. >> ainsley: we do start with a fox news alert. two migrants charged in the death of that 12-year-old texas girl are set to appear in court this morning. >> steve: todd piro joins us now with what we can expect. todd? >> todd: young girl just gone out on a walk to local convenience store never to return. found lying in the shallow waters of houston area creek last week. the medical examiner determining her cause of death was strangulation. charging two men in their early 20's, both with capital murder. two suspects are venezuelan nationals who are roommates that ice says entered the u.s. illegally back in march. both were initially arrested upon crossing, but then released back into the country shortly thereafter. police believe jocelyn snuck out

of her home the night before she was found dead and met the two suspects on her way to the convenience store. the three then walked to a nearby bridge together where police believe jocelyn was killed. remains unknown if jocelyn knew the men at all before that incident. police say the results of a sexual assault examine on the victim are still pending. harris county prosecutor wrote in a court filing that the suspects allegedly ripped off her pants and tied her up underneath that bridge. two suspects due to appear in court this morning around 10: 30 eastern time. back over to you. >> steve: a terrible story. todd, thank you very much. >> ainsley: so sad. 12 years old. >> steve: and how must the mother feel? the mom was downstairs and the girl snuck out of the house. >> ainsley: which a lot of kid that age do unfortunately. >> charlie: it's a normal thing that a kid -- that's why you are a kid because you do things you are not supposed to do and pay this horrific price because

president biden meantime, remains at camp david, and it does appear that he will be be there until debate night. a biden campaign dismiss the concerns about the president's age and mental fitness. after the debates, trump is headed to virginia to appear there with governor glenn youngkin part of his outreach. youngkin is a possible v.p. pick and also a republican who knows thousand win in a democratic state. biden is going to head to north carolina on friday and political commentator on cnn practice smiling more referring to what he calls biden's resting old face. steve, ainsley and charlie, back to you. >> steve: resting old face? >> resting old face. now search self-conscious about what their face looks like. >> steve: you have a resting young guy face right there. >> really. it's probably the only person that calls me young today.

>> steve: okay. >> but on the attendees to the watch party. >> steve: watch party list tim scott was not there also, yesterday, kristi noem was on nbc. she said she had not received the vetting paperwork, so it looks she is probably out of contention. just the fact that right after the debate on thursday night, then he goes to virginia. sounds like at least one event with glenn youngkin, glenn youngkin by the way is going to be on "fox & friends" this friday. we are going to be doing a diner down in the commonwealth of virginia after the debate in charlie's home state to get the pulse of the people. because, remember, suddenly, it looks like virginia is kind of a battleground state. even though joe biden won it by 10 points, the latest poll we had seen is donald trump and joe biden are neck and neck. and regarding glenn youngkin, you know, i saw some comments from a democratic strategist who said it would be brilliant because he is very popular with

democrats in his state. a source close to glenn youngkin told fox news digital the governor is not looking to elevate himself amid donald trump's running mate search. so it sounds like is he not on the list. not really interested. just trying to help out the former president. >> ainsley: he does have the ability to cross party lines. a lot of democrats like what he has done in that state. companies good or broken to actually very good companies, great companies. and biden won in that state by 10 points and now they are neck and neck in the polls. >> charlie: 20 years since republican won virginia. most republicans in virginia have written off the state except in those weird midterm elections, off year elections where often voters of virginia will react against whoever just got elected president, which probably helped glenn youngkin in 2021. but, it is -- you know, the other thing about, i'm always cautious about how much the vice president is going to help one

11th of jury trial? >> steve: donald trump great showman. he's going to do it at the point of maximum interest at the convention. it's going to be like we'll see all -- it could actually be a lot like the apprentice. they could all be in the front row and is he going to go and the winner is come on up so and so. you are the winner. >> ainsley: great moment when you see that individual and if it's a man, his wife come out with the children, hopefully. >> charlie: unless, of course, something happens between now and the convention where he needs to grab people's attention again and he will do this then. >> ainsley: nbc reporting they think doug burgum or j.d. vance. marco rubio does remain in contention. doubts about enthusiasm for the job and concerns about navigating the constitutional hangup. you can't have a v.p. and president in the same state. he would have to move to d.c., i guess. >> steve: marco rubio has already got a place in d.c.

one thing about joe biden. we talked about this extension sily, is that the white house is constantly going, you know, we don't get why joe biden is trailing donald trump in a number of polls because, when you look at bidenomics, and they stopped calling it that. the numbers are really pretty good. this week 18 cabinet members and senior white house officials are going to go to two dozen different snreents 15 states, many battle grounds to try to push the message that joe biden is working for you and it's really working out four. forget about the fact that it really hurts when you pay $9 for a pound of bacon, joe biden is really doing a good job for you. >> charlie: if the head of your ticket, the head of your party, the president of the united states can't convince people that never richer than they are, i don't think that sending out a bunch of cabinet secretaries and officials from the government, i don't think that's going to work either. people know what is going on in their own wallets and they feel

would be great, but, unfortunately, a lot of people have stopped looking because the interest rates are so expensive. last month, median existing home prices are now at the highest level ever recorded at $419,000. that a record up about 6% from a year auto will can't afford the mortgage, ultimately buying less house than you could a year ago for the same amount of money. >> charlie: that's a double whammy, not only are prices up but interest rates are up. your monthly payment is higher. can you imagine janet yellen talking to that entrepreneur and saying no no no, you are much better off. not only is it ineffective it's going to tick him off and his family off. >> ainsley: when we had low

interest rates penal were able to buy a house that was their dream house. many people talk to say we can't move now. we want. to say we want a bigger house. we want a better life for our children but we can't because interest rates significantly higher we don't want to pay that extra cost. >> steve: look at the monthly cost to buy a home. monthly payment median priced house is about 3100 bucks a month. six 6% of renters earn $120,000 required to afford that payment. and can cover big costs as well. so there is so much more. this is one of the reasons why and we have done this story a couple times in the last six months. in some places it actually makes mas soon as to rent a house than to buy a house. that flies in the face of the american degree. american dream is to find a job get married and have kids and a picket house that you own. the bare dime has switched. >>

>> charlie: whole swaths of the country particularly new york city if you are living in new york you are never going to buy something for a long very long time. washington, d.c. young staffer moving to the hill to work. you couldn't afford to buy. can you barely afford to rent a house. >> ainsley: in new york when these youngsters come and want to make a lot of money. one day work crazy hours in financing. they share an apartment. they live in tiny little apartments. hire a company to put a wall up in between. >> steve: they don't hire people. they go to home depot and put up plywood. >> ainsley: live in a closet. >> steve: you live out in ohio or some place, and your kid has gotten a job in new york city. and you go to visit and there is 9 people in the studio apartment and it looks like a maze of plywood. first of all, is that safe and, also, why are you paying 3,000 bucks for have you one fifth of this house? >> charlie: your kids are so glad to see you when you show up

free dinner. >> ainsley: you pay for everything. >> charlie: they want to hang out to you. >> steve: then you will take me to the grocery store. >> charlie: i'm the most popular guy in the world right now. >> ainsley: 17 minutes after the top of the hour. turning to more headlines. los angeles police still searching for three suspects who shot and killed this father of 4 on a metro train on friday night. police say juan garcia was shot in the head during an argument with a group of men at the metro stop. he died at the scene scene. the suspects are between 15 and 20 years old. they took off before officers were able to get there in texas, dps officers arresting a human smuggling suspect after this high speed chase past week. according to officials, the driver attempted to jump out of the car and rub away on foot. the suspect was charged with smuggling of persons and evading arrest. four illegal immigrants were referred to border patrol. and west chester county executive and new york
