he's listening to the most as we weathers calls to drop out and so far the president has been able to stop the trickle of elected democrats calling for him to drop from turning into a flood but the stakes are high from his abc news interview tomorrow and yesterday we taped to black radio interviews the air today focus almost entirely on his accomplishments but he did say this about the debate. >> i screwed up and made a mistake but i learned from my father that when you get knocked down, at backup. >> reporter: democratic governors left a crisis meeting yesterday with mixed signals about whether he is firmly remaining in the race or still an open question in california governor blue cross country to be there and today inviting -- in michigan for biden and answering questions if he was not leading the ticket. >> i don't like planning the hypotheticals because last night was knocking out any ambiguity

a pretty calm day everyone barbecuing and only see about politics but it is different now as the president's campaign is in trouble right now and i said it very clearly that i think the president will because the only 1-4 sonatas himself and he doesn't look like he wants to leave this and also kamala harris still on the table so looking at the polling numbers, do democrats do better with her? not really so all roads lead to joe but the fact were having this conversation on the fourth of july, lot of democrats would prefer chautauqua about barbecue. >> sorry to them but this is the number 1 topic of conversation on the minds from everyone. you are right that it is joe and jill biden's decision as well and that only goes to what jackie was saying that it's a trickle but becomes a flow -- of flood for democrats calling for him to step down right now there are two but they represent their

would be asking him to step away >> some of the things president biden has said since the debate almost as damaging as the debate like meeting with the governors yesterday, told them according to the new york times that he will tell a staff to not schedule anything after 8:00 pm so now we're dealing with a lot of different that he's okay from 10:00 to 4:00 and debate started at 11 and that's not how a presidency works you get a phone call at 3:00 in the morning and make a snap decision about a life or death situation in which you trust someone that can't schedule an event after 8:00 pm. >> lawrence: ally said he needs a big press conference moment. >> should have done that monday after but instead sent jean-pierre out over and over again and that did not go well and they lost a lot of time and

i don't think any taped interview even with us would make much of a difference. >> carley: still a great day for our country regardless of what's going on at the white house and we are all proud to be an american and all thinking before the show started that certain things we love that inspire us to have that great american feeling and left the country weather a movie quote or a patriotic quote of some sort in the one that inspires me the most, i'm sure many of you feel the same way, i toby keith song called courtesy of the red white and blue. so many circles feel like she is the next choice and obvious and easiest choice and you and i were talking about how gavin newson's name is out there and wes moore, governor of maryland and people are getting angry including common law harris team including why you would pass over an african-american woman to replace the current president and why would you go for someone else on the ticket? again, were a little bit far away from that moment and i don't see that happening but it is a huge question right now even amongst democrats as there is a faction that has already moved on and he's out there saying i'm not going anywhere but to be honest with you, there is a whole faction that has moved on and left him behind and already talking about replacements.
