are on the cusp of getting so much done. i really mean it but with your help, i know your help and my help with us working together going to get a lot done for the american people. griff: president biden all out campaign blitz across pennsylvania today after members of his own party turned on democratic lawmakers urging him to end his reelection bid welcome to fox's life i am group jenkins. alicia: i am allan lichtman. eric shawn and i felt neville are off today but urging biden to step aside that vice president kamala harris leave the democratic ticket they say harris is better equipped to take on former president donald trump in november still biden exists he will stay in the race met his latest campaign stop was in harrisburg, pennsylvania that is where at lucas tomlinson is reporting live at this hour. hi lucas. >> is some democratic lawmakers
1:02 pm
may be turning on president biden, senator j john fetterman from right here in pennsylvania is not one of them he kicked up a small rally and impromptu rally at union hall of course a pennsylvania battleground state. president biden took the mike and spoke to a crowd of a few hundred here at that union hall where he took on donald trump. >> trump was to give another 5 trillion-dollar tax cut over the next five years. no, i am not joking. you know what we are going to do? stop and spend that money on childcare. no, i mean it or send that money on elder care. look folks, all of those things people give me credit for for the critics said biden is just a big spender. first of all we ended actually with a little bit of surplus but guess what that other guy is the largest deficit in any president ever had in history.
1:03 pm
looks critics and fact checkers might say otherwise about that last claim. earlier before the rally we had a chance to walk around and talk to some of the biden supporters. they said they are fully behind him even in the following cases, take a listen especially to the last woman we interviewed. >> i wanted to see what joe biden has to say but what is going to offer pennsylvania and the american public. i believe he still has got it. >> or tother choice we cannot ce the game for months before the election for. >> i would not vote for biden. even if he is in his casket. one more time this woman said she's joking but said she would vote for president biden even if he was in a casket. some of the support is what it is a vice president kamala harris of the top of the ticket that's a decision for president biden to make. earlier president biden left his home and a wilmington stop at a black church in philadelphia
1:04 pm
where the pastor there. for president biden's health. >> father remember a bumper sticker on his senior citizens car that said i may be slow but i am in front of you. [applause] use our president. use his experience. use his handicaps. >> after this president biden will return to washington this evening he is hosting a nato summit in the nation's capitol next week. there is no mention of his debate performance here at his little rally in harrisburg, pennsylvania pretty also did not talk about that interview on abc. remember when he complained about the jet lag he will not have that problem b when he goes the nato summit it's right down the street he can just drive. alicia: we are in an interesting
1:05 pm
time indeed. lucas tomlinson thank you so much. griff: house minority leader hakeem jeffries led an emergency meeting with top democrats this afternoon. just moments ago our own chatter program reporting there were multiple democrats on house committees who expressed concerns about biden continuing as the nominee fox has told the consensus among those democrats on the call the president should abandon the race the party should center on vice president kamala harris as a potential successor that includes california congressman adam schiff. >> he has to win overwhelmingly or he has to pass the torch to someone who can. iit's a simple as that. i think the vice president be a phenomenal president has the experience, the judgment, the leadership ability to be an extra in a president. parsifal caucus is scheduled to meet on tuesday. in the meantime on the senate's eside there multiple reports virginia democrat mark warner was trying to assemble a meeting
1:06 pm
with some of his colleagues tomorrow. we will follow all of it. >> i think it is possible that kamala harris will be the nominee mainly because they are going to have a funding problem with joe biden drops out and frankly i would hope it is her because she is a terrible candidate. alicia: republicans sounding off as more democrats or poorly throw their support line vice president kamala harris to replace president biden former president trump insists he could beat her in a head to head match up some of trump's allies worn harris may be more challenging opponent. >> of biden steps down harris is going to have to pick somebody to help her. if she does become the nominate this is a dramatically different race and it is right now today. i hope people are thinking about that on our side. alicia: joining us out senate candidate entrepreneur eric, really good to see you.
1:07 pm
i would like to put up a pole this is a cnn poll dated match ups of the trump and biden and trump and harrison. you can seat trump beats in biden by six points. what is trump against harris he still wins but it narrows to just two points. how concerned should your party be about the prospect of kamala harris the top of the ticket? >> it nis not at all. look, beryl is a gaffe proof it is unbelievable. she was supposed to be responsible for the border, let's not forget that. i think she went to the border once. under president trump thick at the border crossing stopped about 300,000 his last year. under joe biden and kamala harris who is supposed to be in charge of the border was over 3 million the first year over 3 million the second year at well over 4 million the third year. we really do not know how when people come into this country is anywhere from 10 to potentially
1:08 pm
as high as 16 million illegal immigrants that have brought crime, brought terrorist threats, that has allowed our country to be filled by sentinel. we are losing over 100,000 young americans every year to fentanyl. so they have created a crisis. she is responsible for client not concerned about kamala harris at all if people start focusing on her record and she has to be under the spotlight she will create as many gases joe biden. >> both presidential candidates are focusing on wisconsin the president is in pennsylvania today it's a critical state you are in a senate race right now the nation is a washer trying to unseat democrat tammy baldwin the senator there. but let's take a look at 2020 and the race for the president. back in 2020 president biden beat trump by about 21000 points.
1:09 pm
you look back to 2016 trump beat biden and wisconsin. so what do you think former president trump needs to do to win back the state of wisconsin this next go around? wisconsin is where this presidency will be decided whoever wins wisconsin will have the president if i can beat center balder on the most progressive left the liberals will not only recapture the senate for the next two years but the next four -- six years. for president trump is to focus on the things that matter to most americans. number one, the economy, inflation, under president trump route wages increased by 7.7%. under joe biden they have declined by two-point to percent. then the border and i already address the border. border crossings were only 300,000 with a president biden kamala harris have left over
1:10 pm
10 million on a minimum potentially as high as 16 million and then you gotta take on other issues like health care what is going on with crime, and many of our cities milwaukee has had major problems with crime in milwaukee. those are areas the democrat party have been rock they push defund the police the progressive prosecutors but the rights of criminals ahead of victims and innocent people. i think the issue set matches up really well for president trump. alicia: what about trump's vice presidential >> were all waiting on that he said he is going to announce before the republican national convention which will be held in milwaukee of course let's put up this flyer he's kind of teasing everyone a little but with this fight rnc event that is going to be held in milwaukee a week from thursday he said is going to bring with him the vice presidential nomina nominee wile there on the stage with him.
1:11 pm
can you tell me, who do you think helps trump in the state of wisconsin? how much does it really matter do you think at this point? >> look at is most important who the president is in their policies. do i think a good vp pick can be helpful? absolutely. look we have governor bergman is another midwestern fully accomplish their top up tim scott which would resonate with the black community which we have a large population in milwaukee that i think they would be receptive too. senator rubio, he is very skillful in foreign policy matters. i think we have a great bench whoever he puts up is going to be far better than kamala harris if it's joe biden at the top of the ticket. so i feel real comfortable whoever but the most important thing is for people to have confidence that whoever is the
1:12 pm
vp can assume the position of the presidency. i think all of the candidates i have heard will be able to give confidence to the american public this is a person that could assume the presidency at some point in time. >> former president is a very good at keeping each and every one of us guessing. >> that he is. have a wonderful day. before speaking of the former president trump is laying low this week and after scoring and other illegal victor the judge and classified documents case agreed to delay some pretrial deadlines and consider whether his actions are part of his official duties as a president and immune from prosecution after last week's landmark supreme court ruling. madison scarpino is alive in atlanta following all of it. >> former president trump is off the campaign trail this week as president biden takes a lot of heat over his debate performance the former president made fun of
1:13 pm
that untruth the social yesterday but he takes a sarcastic jab at president biden urging him to stand the race for the former president says in part quote crooked joe biden should ignore as many critics and move forward with the strength of his power and far-reaching campaign he should be sharp, precise, and energetic just like he was in the debates. the former president then goes to slam president biden for the border, high interest rates, record crime and a lot more. it has been a good week for team trump there have been major fundraising boosts a lot of drama among the democrats since the debates. >> i think if you are donald trump the best thing you can possibly do stay out of the way let the democrats a bicker amongst themselves about the strength of their presidential nominee. all eyes are on joe biden and quite frankly it is not done him any favors over the past week. >> is also mondays and bombshel supreme court decision on
1:14 pm
presidential immunity presents the ruling the judge and trumps a new york hush money trial agreed to postpone his sentencing. as you mention the florida judgment trumps classified documents case is now delaying several deadlines for legal experts say the new delays in that case will make it really hard for the trial to happen before the election. here's what former principal deputy assistant attorney general tom diprete said on "fox news sunday" this morning. he is talking about if the former president does win the election. >> for jack smith to continue to pursue a case he knows is going to be extinguished at noon on january 20 seems somewhat harassing arguably abusive it's not as though is going to filter gma trial into the several month window. >> the former president has rallies except f set for floridn tuesday and pennsylvania on saturday after a week of laying low. griff: madison scarpino in atlanta, thank you very much.
1:15 pm
as we just reported earlier top house democrats heard a virtual meeting on concerns about president biden's campaign. sources telling fox multiple top democrats are worried and some suggested vice president harris should replace the president at the top of the ticket senior congressional correspondent chad pergram joining us on the phone right now. chad, thank you for calling in on this breaking news. what else are you hearing from the hill? >> we are trying to nail down exactly in an ironclad way called for the president to maybe step aside and certainly those who were calling for him to step aside said we should throw our support which mind vice president harris but we are led to believe is in report -- six of these top democrats is the ranking democrats on all the house committees this was a virtual meeting hakeem jeffries the house democratic leader coleaderconvened today it has by interesting to watch hakeem
1:16 pm
jeffries who is said i support president biden but also said, this is a week ago friday he was going to take a step back to see where this all goes. not once a thing about this until we have a conversation for those conversations are happening right now. the reason these conversations have to happen is that on monday the house of representatives returns to session. every reporter in the capitals going be chasing every democrat in both the health and house and senate to say word you stand with the pres president we coule as many as nine house democrats right now on the record who were basically saying for president biden to step aside. that number is probably going to grow. i've been told one of the things that happened the facts a congressional recess did not do president biden any favors because of that conversation probably should have happened in the immediate two or three days right after the debate. congress was just an session that morning the house was in session the set has not been in session in two weeks.
1:17 pm
with that enable to happen here is this a problem festered for the president and there was no clarity and kind of allowed the president to do this rope a dope and let this a bleed on for more than a week and half after the debate. griff: chad, obviously this phone call very significant. there are some notable democrats like adam schiff who did not call in an interview today for biden to step aside. but said he hoped he would do some thinking and make a decision. he gave a clearly resounding support for harris should she choose. my question to you as democrats get ready to come back here tomorrow and meet the democratic caucus on tuesday it is your sense at least the house democrat part of congress wants to have their ducks in line on what should know how they're going to move forward by tuesday. >> i do not think is going to
1:18 pm
happen quite by tuesday there will not be a big caucus meeting among all houses democrats until tuesday morning at lisette is a plan right now. something to watch as mark warner the democratic senator from virginia who has reportedly been talking to people the senate has been very quiet about this. that is where president binds a base of support has always been he was a senator for decades. i'll keep an eye on him keep an eye on joe manchin and it is very interesting you mention adam schiff for two things about adam schiff that are very important here. number one he is running for the senate. that's probably safe democratic seats here. what she see if you have people with competitive races who suddenly started to say it is the right thing to do to go with somebody else for that is one thing. if there is very interesting adam schiff said on meet the press this morning he said present binds but a good present his accomplish these things he ought to be cleaning donald trump's clock here and is not the third thing that's
1:19 pm
interesting about adam schiff is he is from california. there are 40, 40 40 house demos from california alone. 9% of the entire house almost 20% of the house democratic caucus. if all of those california democrats coalesced in the line behind vice president harris, because where s is she from? she is from the golden state that will have a big impact on the rest of house democrats and for that matter at some senate democrats two. support did you have a question? >> chad i've got a question for you. when we are talking about an hour reporting how there are democrats want biden to exit, are we talking want him to exit as the nominee for the 2024 race? or exit from the office of the presidency allow kamala harris to continue on as president become the nominee as the
1:20 pm
incumbent? >> so far what we are hearing is having him continue as the president and differing on the political side to vice president harris again there's not been a lot of clarity on that you raise a very good question because again if you do not think the guys up to the job now you may sit look at him now where's he going to be in two or three years would he be up to the job in two or three years can we get through noon on generate 20th? that's a completely other calculation but you see these things for mike james, the chairman of the oversight committee putting out a statement saying i want documents and testimony from the president's dr. i had knocked down some rumors have been floating around there might be a vote this week in some capacity related to the 25th amendment if you look at section four of the 25th amendment that calls for half a president could be removed i was told by senior house republicans source they're not going to do
1:21 pm
about certainly not this week if were to ever come through to go through committee but the reason to bring up the 25th amendment businesses there's going to be people on capitol hill of the democratic site is certainly the republican side of talked about this at nausea and for a while now saying it is time to start to ask that serious question whether or not he can sustain this and whether or not this is a national security issue. that's going to be very real question cap a capitol hill next couple weeks. griff: chad, one more i've been watching leader jeffries all day long he's about three hours ago a simple bible verse joshua one nine do not be discouraged for the lord your god will be with you wherever you go. he does not quote a lot of bible verses and obviously it just sort of tells us the gravity and the seriousness of that call in what is at stake here as you look at jeffrey's decision on
1:22 pm
how he handles this it really sort of speaks to just how thin the minority and majority is in the house and perhaps a jeffries looking at a bigger picture than just a biden's own ambition to stay in the race and come back. >> a couple of things here talking about the overall state of the houses democrats, hakeem jeffries is a few seats away from potentially being the spespeaker of the house. there is a blood letting on the democratic site up and down the ballot he is not going to be the speaker of the house they are definitely within striking distance here big time. on the democrats and republicans have completely mismanaged the house a screw around for 27 days on two different occasions trying to elect a speaker they really have not gotten much done in this congress they think they have a lot they can run against. but number two, hakeem jeffries this is not easy by any stretch is trying to gauge where his caucus is i don't think anyone truly knows where the caucuses you talk about some of the committee chairs or top democrats who have come out,
1:23 pm
that is one thing. is it a critical mass of more than half of the democratic caucus? is a lot of people just keeping their powder dry and do not want to say anything just yet. he is not follower it jeffries he's a leader jeffries what he is trying to do is get a sense of where his people are before he gets too far over his skis and for that matter the same thing with the democratic leader of the majority leader in the senate, chuck schumer. griff: probably trying to gauge how outward houses democrats are about down ballot implications but senior congressional correspondent chad pergram, thank you for calling and please keep us updated if you get more. >> thank you. alicia: thank you griff, thank you chad. hurricane warning's now in effect for much of the texas coast tropical storm beryl surges toward the lone star state picking up strength ahead of us expected landfall to mark fox with a correspondent katie byrne is live in galveston,
1:24 pm
texas under hurricane watch know what is happening? >> the beach is gone behind me pretty see the waves are crashing right up against the seawall here in fact i can feel the sea spray against the back of my leg sometimes. what is concerning as we are still far away from high tide it's not expected until tomorrow morning when we are expecting beryl landfall. we are starting to see galveston get really quiet people are leaving at looks a lot different than yesterday you could see a ton of sand here behind me and a lot of people who were visiting galveston for the holiday weekend. but many cut the trips short left this morning ahead of the storm hotel parking lots are deserted as locals get their homes ready for strong winds and flooding. but we are we are north of the expected landfall and flooding is what most people are concerned about here. there are voluntary evacuation orders for low-lying neighborhoods that are not protected by see what we spoke with people who live on the streets many live in a raised homes and say they have been
1:25 pm
through this before and the most we met do not plan on leaving. >> we don't really go anywhere. i'm sure if it was a category three or four or five, we don't really bail out. this is a tropical storm or category one there's no reason to go. >> there are mandatory evacuation orders underway for communities south of us. an area school districts, college campuses and businesses already deciding to close tomorrow and even tuesday as beryl continues to get closer to the coast of texas. alicia: it will continue to watch katie byrne thank you. griff: beryl is getting closer we are tracking beryl by the hour is a storm approaches texas let's go live to meteorologist adam klotz for the very latest, adam. here she comes where she now? what's he or she comes is getting closer and closer to the coast. still forecast to become a hurricane although as we currently sit a tropical storm
1:26 pm
winds of 65 miles and are moving to the northwest at 10 miles an hour but does not look horribly far off the coast and you are getting some of those outer bands of rain across portions of southern texas the rio grande valley sing some of that. this is our forecasted track is he that continuing to strengthen winds of 85 miles an hour it would be a category one hurricane that still forecast at this point you are looking at landfall early monday morning that is our current forecast track. we feel like almost overnight tonight into early tomorrow hurricane warning's have been issued from corpus christi running up north of the sgt, houston is an area tropical storm warning and a large area they are put everything in the rent is in the tropical storm morning. we are beginning to see some of the winds increase again it's a little ways off the coast off the shore but we have seen a wind gust up to 30 -- 35, 36 miles per hour part of us of these are going to continue to climb especially if you get really close to the center of circulation. in-house forecast model. a little variation still possible but taking you until midnight still off the coast but
1:27 pm
the stronger winds beginning to approach the coastline obviously houston still far with this point perhaps making landfall early tomorrow morning taking you till 7:00 a.m. the center of circulation this model is on land we would see at landfall at this point what you notice in the forecast is all of that moisture on the right side of the storm, houston will be on the rights of the server check type ofthe strongest winds, the heaviest rain all being drugged up on the right side of the storm back off toward the left side or the west side likely a little called her a lot of the flooding potential will be lining up across portions of east texas. that's going to be a spot to to pay attention to see with the flood alerts fairly wide area you could see good rainfall rates be run through tomorrow it is not just the rainfall it's always a little further off toward the east a little further off toward the right of wherever the storm as you see a risk for some severe weather tornadoes included. look at that houston gets in on it does st adjuster charlie oveo
1:28 pm
portions of louisiana, lake charles to alexandria, shreveport there's a decent risk we could see some tornadoes. that is common with the severe weather as he storm is make landfall we are highlighting early tomorrow morning as a time all of this will be at its absolute worst. >> be careful of that flooding. adam thank you very much. do not forget "fox weather" is your hurricane headquarters scan the qr code on your screen to download the free "fox weather" app so you can track storms and hurricanes any time anywhere. >> for me too testify and give them another chance to have in essence a second summation to go to the whole case again and then go ahead and have their summation and then have a rebuttal case at the end is simply not something that makes any sense to me whatsoever. so our embattled new jersey senator bob menendez why he chose not to testify in his defense that is corruption trial by the garden state democrat is accused of accepting hundreds of
1:29 pm
thousands of dollars in cash, a convertible and gold bars in exchange for political favors. closing arguments could begin as early as tomorrow. civil rights attorney richard st. paul is here to wait and he's also a member of the republican trial lawyers association. richard, what do you make? it is hard to not know what happened with this case because of the 13 gold bars it sounds like a script out of that mafiaa movie but he is in real trouble. he made the decision should not testify on his own defense. what you make of that? looks and some it makes a decision to testify in their own defense it's probably a wise decision unless it's a matter of he said she said at where you are the only person that can bring it back or bring to light some truth you cannot get otherwise because against one person versus another's word. here in this, certainly at senator menendez will be potentially detrimental to him
1:30 pm
he would be asked all types of questions like how did you get the money? and you actually connect the dots the prosecution would not otherwise have if you did not testify interestingly enough they have arrested in this case part of his defense is his wife was doing things without his know-how and without his permission. that he himself did not do anything wrong but that's a tough defense given the evidence the prosecution's book put forth. >> it sure did seem as i have followed and done a little reporting on this case it did seem he was going with blame the wife defense saying senator menendez was not aware of the financial problems his wife was in. let's go back to this feels like a pretty clear quid pro quo type scenario. what exactly is it to determine whether this was simply a greedy
1:31 pm
politician and a quid pro quo situation? this was on took wood pro quote i do for you, you do for me what's alleged by the prosecution is senator menendez was given money to take an official act those official acts include talking to the new yo york -- new jersey attorney general the potential u.s. attorney general but certain investigations as well as her print helping a certain business company become certified for food that had some connection with the egyptian government. the question is did senator menendez accept the money on behalf of somebody? that is the connection the prosecution has to make. what the jury will have to do because a lot of times it's not apparent where it says give meet money and i will do this the jury is going to have to take all the evidence and all the documents the prosecution has presented a make inferences prince's seek conversationally
1:32 pm
senator menendez informant new jersey state attorney saying i want you to look into this investigation. what does that exactly mean? does that mean i want you to interfere with that? that is not exactly evident. >> it is going to be really interesting we've got to leave it there by the way the jury got to see and hold some of those gold bars during the case of the truck would make it a verdict yet this week. richard st. paul thank you for joining us. >> thank you. alicia: questions about president biden's health and acuity art looming over this week's nato summit in washington. what is the commander-in-chief need to do to prove he could continue to lead the free world? that is coming up. holocaust survivors who are suffering in the former soviet union today. the needs that these forgotten jews have are something beyond anything you can imagine.
1:33 pm
have you eaten this morning? i ate the carrot, so i ate half of it yesterday. and this is what she ate in two days, one carrot. please pray for me! the international fellowship of christians and jews began this ministry to help elderly jews living in horrible poverty around the world. we urgently need your gift of $25 now to help provide one survival food box with all of the foods they critically need for their diet for one month. when you call right now, your gift's impact will be doubled to help save lives. it breaks my heart to know that there are holocaust survivors who suffer to this very day. now, with pensions of less than $2 per day, they live in some of the poorest conditions imaginable. i believe in god, but i sometimes feel maybe he forgot me.
1:34 pm
perhaps you could tell my story, and i will find a matching soul that would understand. i face hunger again. please don't delay. call, scan, or go online now to help rush one survival food box to a holocaust survivor. when you call right now, your gift's impact will be doubled to help save lives. this is what god wants from us. just feed the hungry. if you hear god's voice, i'm asking you to act now. do it when it's on your heart. i pray that they'll know in their final months that they're not alone.

1:37 pm
>> adeptly not a joke president biden faces growing questions in his own party about his ability to lead and win reelection that leader of the free world not have to prove it to america's allies face-to-face. abided will be under global scrutiny this week world leaders had to washington for the nato summit. the nato secretary-general would not give a straight answer when asked about the presidents and mental fitness. >> are there concerns or not among nato leaders? >> to comment on issues like that and nato and i'll be part of domestic debate recursively easy to say no or yes. >> it is important for nato to stay out of that domestic discussion. alicia: let's bring senior advisor of the foundation for the defense of democracy richard goldberg rethink his so much fr being here. would nato secretary-general is better for nato to stay out of domestic issues. right now politico has talked to
1:38 pm
20 people who are connected with an nato and the summit and found what politico calls acute concerns bite diplomats quoting these foreign officials largely favor biden's reelection and fear donald trump returned to office would damage the nato alliance and crippled the war effort in ukraine they have reached -- rick reacted to biden's recent debate with dismay and fear biden may be too frail to defeat trump and lead a global superpower. how is the united states domestic issue not now an issue for our nato allies? orcs of course it is printed issue for the entire world at this point. the president said the world is looking to us. i hope they are not looking or trying to call between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. they may not get anybody who is in charge. this is a major issue for our security our national security. our enemies are salivating over the idea of the commander-in-chief the leader of the free world says he is an

1:40 pm
policies of the reason the world is on fire not just his lack of functioning. and of course and think about the withdrawal from afghanistan and relating the appeasement of iran, all of this put together. whether a liberal minded progressive european thanks joe biden is doing a good job or not is not the contest here for the contest is how is our national security going? how's global security going? and if joe biden shows up but i hope to see is a plan of how we are going to bring the war in ukraine to a close on ukraine's terms. promote victory for ukraine however going to deter it should jinping and modernize the alliance to focus on the biggest threat that we have as a country and as an alliance but how we're going to change our european friends and allies were for appg ironic of appeasing north korea, piecing some these dictators around the world and actually restoring the doctrine of peace through strength. can joe bite into any of that? i'm not so sure about that.
1:41 pm
obviously there's a lot of question on his physical and mental capabilities this week. more questions how they will handle the next second trump administration. and what that relationship will look like with the alliance. >> my final thoughts on this how does the situation not overshadow the important work that needs to get done this week in washington with the nato allies? >> it will, unfortunately. nato has said three priorities are talking about how they're going to stand by ukraine and military and security assistance package great looking at that modernization of what nato needs to do vis-à-vis china going forward for that is the work that needs to get done. unfortunately i think every single one is coming to washington with the one question on their mind, is joe biden in charge? his seat mentally fit to be president of the united states? >> the world will be watching. richard goldberg thank you so much. >> you bet.

alicia: more political upheaval across the pond in france holds the final run off for legislative elections the final results won't be in until late tonight or early threat latest projections indicate trouble for president emmanuel macron. what happens next three. >> voter turnout was the highest it hasn't been in more than four decades. shortly after the polls closed a few hours ago it was a shocking twist exit polls project the hard left wing the new popular front leading. >> of people have voted with their conscience i salute the mobilization of thousands of women and men who have dedicated themselves to the effort to achieve this evening's result. >> surprising exit poll projections about president emmanuel macron centrist alliance in second and the far right national rally in third place essentially blocking them from achieving a majority after being well ahead in last week's
