5:00 pm
violence in my heart. political violence is un-american and never acceptable. never. >> we are told now this is a federal investigation. today, go to them. i believe by mcdonald's, republican of florida is with us. your thoughts at my first thoughts are relieved and grateful president trump is okay. my second thoughts are this of violence and our politics is got to end. i know we talk about these issues in inflamed tones but there is no excuse for violence.
5:01 pm
trying to assassinate a president, a former president, elected official there is no place for that whatsoever note the secret service is going to do everything they can to continue to protect president trump. my third thought is american seem to get out and vote for this only one way to deal with this and that is to get out, get yourself to the polls do not worry about news reports or anything like that. get to the polls it's in the hands of the american people to have the country they want going forward for that as a country where we embrace of tolerance we do not just have one thought, one mind one way of look at our issues are one way of looking at the world. you get out and vote, let your voices heard and we are tolerant of all voices even we do not agree with them. quick answer, well stated but thank you byron donalds republican congressman from florida if we have our colleague martha i would like to try to bring her back in. martha, we have been waiting to
5:02 pm
hear from president biden. what you have on that front, now? 's president biden is put out a statement saying he is praying for the family. he is is a praying for president trump political violence is and never, is never acceptable is going to make a statement were hearing about this a few seconds ago for it he will deliver a statement to the nation after the apparent assassination attempt on former president trump. it took a while he said is been briefed by secret service parent getting as much information as he can on the situation but now we are told he will deliver ap reporting remarks to the nation after the apparent assassination attempt on former president trump. the more we are seeing, built, and hearing reports about them we do not have this confirmed there are images as you mentioned earlier about a man
5:03 pm
who was on a roof. there is a bystander who speaks with someone at the bbc in great detail about what he saw they alerted the police according to him. we have to obviously be very careful with all of this. there is at least one person who has lost their life. the former president of the united states is extraordinarily lucky to have survived what is it looking like an attempt on his life. it is just an extraordinary series of advanced nursing unfolding care for it is absolutely shocking that we were talking before about the people in the stands. if this came from further away, if it came from a building top back there and explains we think someone on the upper left-hand side of those stands went down and was shot according to these details we all have to confirm.
5:04 pm
that is why you did not see people darting in any direction to tackle anyone. if indeed the person who did this was on the roof. a lot of information we want to be very cautious about this. it's increasingly likely the president was extraordinarily lucky to be alive. here he is fine were waiting more for him. president vital speaking from delaware we are told fairly shortly. >> thank you, martha for that will wait for that lucas tomlinson is alive in rehoboth beach, delaware tells us biden will speak soon. behind me at the police station we will await that. alexis and nick adams is doing terrific work she is our reporter on the scene and beutler, pennsylvania. she was to dispatch after this assignment was expected to be a pump up rally from here in
5:05 pm
milwaukee, wisconsin. and alexis you have a very different story on your hands right now. >> yes we had no idea this was not going to take place over try to get with the pops of work. we are up on that mediate sages send their watch the former president talk about immigration and or referencing a big graph saying look how many things have changed under the biden administration. this is why i am a good choice if it all the sudden you hear all these pops which we are now hearing from law enforcement sources were possible gunshots. were trying to talk with people inside of the rally will check in with people as we develop alive with this coverage. you were inside what exactly did you hear and what did you see? books he read something is soud like a firecracker. we turned around their people behind us and two of our guys shooting back with a guy inside the crowd here pray 15 away from us get shot they said there was a casual he was dead someone else got shot.
5:06 pm
and apparently our guys were shooting and everyone started cheering once they got the shooting see them on top the building there. >> when this was all happening now and you play it back you can figure it out and make it more ceasing too. when this was happening to june over the possible shots were coming from? >> the shots that we heard at the time we thought we turned around and seen smoke coming out the barrel of the guy behind us without their coming at us but have meet our guys shooting back at him. so everybody was freaking out thinking we're going to shop by the people they were protecting us and shooting the shooter. explores the shooting a court according to a scene seen questk up to our left probably 40 feet away up on top of the building whatever it was for. >> a possible shooter who possibly fired pri bricks the gy got shot some he said a pistol i don't know if that's true or not some in the crowd got shot from our guys or somebody i do not know whatever. >> it is a confusing situation. you heard those a pops did they sound like they were coming from
5:07 pm
in the crowd, outside of the crowd, outside of that fence to the retention pond? >> what's it literally sounded like it was 2e the fence, right there. it was literally 10 feet behind us but the guys are our guys were 15 feet behind them we literally watch them shoot back. they were right there. >> how many shots didn't look like the law enforcement fired and the possible shooter? >> two -- four. there is two different sets of shots you could hear two different guns there were four shots from one and from another gun there two different guns you could hear i do not know which was which it's hard to tell which was which. i could see smoke you could hear the bullets and 70 got shot. >> thank you, glad you are okay that is what we are hearing at least one person shot in the crowd according to the beutler district attorney will keep you posted on whatever else we hear. >> thank you alexis mcadams. back with you momentarily.
5:08 pm
>> bring congressman dan out of pennsylvania congressman, thank you for joining us. what can you tell us? [inaudible] 's in his speech is seven minutes. the next thing you know we hear gunfire. some people speculate somebody said it was firecracker spidered it sound like it was very close. sitting in the front row to the right of the president with dave mccormick, the senate candidate as well as mike kelly one of my colleagues. then we saw the president seemingly to grab and he hit the deck. he knew his being fired upon. and that's pretty much when everyone began. [inaudible] and then secret service did its job for they were up there fast. they got on top -- mike they
5:09 pm
return fire on the shooter pretty fast. it sounded like he was close to us but i would also add the one fatality i believe is a fatality i do not want to overstate things was no more than 20 feet behind us. certainly our prayers are with that individual. quick server, and which direction was a secret service firing? >> i did not to the secret service necessarily firing. the pictures i have just seen of the likely shooter up on the roof certainly makes sense for that did seem to be where the sound of gunfire was coming from. i actually did not witness secret service returning fire i saw them scattering on the move pretty fast. i said the secret service responded they were on top of the president to protect him first. i will tell you that once he was
5:10 pm
secret service surrounded the president there was additional shots fired. who was quite a terrible scene. >> i am sure. sir, thank you for joining us. dan is a congressman from pennsylvania he does not represent that district necessarily. his district is a little further east in pennsylvania it was you know will be a battleground state in november. but tonight it is the story as he watches him fold. a little bit of information on the election front. we are hearing from the biden campaign that it will pause all outbound communications and working right now to pull down all television ads as they relate to the election as quickly as possible but we do believe we will see the president momentarily for that we go back to delaware and lucas of totomlinson for more there. >> and bill, we are minutes away from president biden address in the nation about the shooting breathed as a key word used in
5:11 pm
the statement from president biden that martha read earlier let me read it will more time i have been briefed on the shooting at donald trump's rally in pennsylvania which by all intensive purposes has to now be called an characterize and then satuanassassination attempt agat the former president they were told the motorcade is here and just arrived we saw numerous oppressed reporters walking into this police station right behind me. we are minutes away from president biden addressing the nation after this horrific shooting against a former president donald trump earlier today. >> okay, thank you lucas very much for that. we are working trying to get more information directly from the trump family, the trump campaign. and many are with him in that hospital in pennsylvania. and as soon we can get that we will pass it along to you. we are told is being treated and he is going to be okay. that's about as close as we can get to the most accurate. shannon: were told he is in good
5:12 pm
spirits. let's bring in guy benson and charlie hurt they are here with us in milwaukee. and again as you guys were gearing up for our coverage here a shock of the situation this afternoon we learned more and more details trickling in. your thoughts on where we are in the political discourse right now? we are ready to prepare for this event major convention starting in a couple moments here. then all of the sudden these reports come in and it does not feel like it is real. you see instantly in this age of footage of it because it was an onstage rally. so your question about political discourse is one that i think we will be pouring over as a society now four days to come. i think it is an important one and i think it's probably safe to say it many americans tonight of course of praying for the
5:13 pm
former president. praying for the family of those who are dead at least one we heard a bystander, someone who went to this rally for perhaps having a collective sense that it is time to tone down our rhetoric across the spectrum. there is going to be a lot of i think discussion about how president trump has been portrayed, the rhetoric about him not just days, weeks, months, years, so some of it extremely vitriolic. once we have all the information that we do not have yet i am sure that's a very difficult and fraught conversation that's going to happen perhaps at high decibels for quite some time. >> we are given a two minute warning from joe biden. i may have to interrupt you, charlie. per law enforcement sources shooter was killed by secret service counter sniper team.
5:14 pm
if you have a sniper team that is responding that is some distance away. charlie, go ahead. i may have to interrupt you. >> i could not agree more with everything guy just said. thank god the president appears to be well. i have heard from people in the campaign that he is in good spirits. and he is visiting with doctors as a precaution at this point. i hope, and it is an unspeakable tragedy to think of a citizen going to participate in a public. >> i plan on talking to him shortly, i hope when i get back to the telephone. look, there is no place in america for this kind of violence. it is sick, it is sick. that's one of the reasons i would have to unite this country. we cannot allow for this to be happening. it cannot be like this. we cannot condone this.
5:15 pm
i want to thank the secret service and all the agencies include the state agencies engaged in making sure that people and we will have more detail to come relative to other people may be injured in the audience. i do not have all of that detail. we will make it available to you. i may be able to come back a little later tonight will put out a statement if i am not able if it is not convenient for you all. the bottom line is the trump rally is a rally that should have been able to be conducted peacefully without any problem. the idea, the idea there is political violence in america it like this is just unheard of it's not appropriate. everybody must condemn it. everybody put up keep you informed and i may speak to donald i will let you know that as well. so far, it appears he is doing well number one. number two, there is thoroughly investigating what happened to
5:16 pm
anyone else in the audience. there is some reports but not final reports. every agency in the federal government on the back to my phone to speak with that federal agency updated briefing and their learning more the last couple of hours. so thank you very much and i hope i get to speak to him tonight i will get back to you if i do begrudge mr. president you think is an assassination attempt? >> i do not know enough. i have an opinion but i do not have any facts. i want to make sure of all of the facts before you make a comment, thank you. [inaudible] >> is a security failure? >> it was brief the comments from rehoboth beach, delray heard the question about whether or not it was an assassination attempt.
5:17 pm
the field and beutler come pennsylvania over the past two hours. had the intent to show up at that rally today and take president trump and his life off of this earth. that did not happen. the reason might be in the following video that you are about to see will begin seconds before you can see the president grabbed his right ear and then after that there is a series of pop, pop, pop will take you back to that moment. beutler, pennsylvania 50 miles due north of pittsburgh, watch. >> take a look at what happened. >> get down, get down, get down. >> what are we doing? what are we doing?
5:18 pm
john four [screaming]. >> hold, hold, when you're ready on you. go. hawkeye is here. hawkeye is here. hugs are you ready? [screaming] shooter down, shooters down. >> shooters down pretty good week to move? clear. clear, we are clear. [screaming] get them up. >> let me get my shoes but i've got usurper. >> let me get my shoes on. sir, we've got to move to the cars. >> let me get my shoe on. >> watch out.
5:19 pm
>> wait, wait, wait. [screaming] we've got to move, go. usa. usa. usa. usa. usa. usa. usa. [inaudible conversations] [inaudible]
5:20 pm
[inaudible] [inaudible] [inaudible] honestly it's so unbelievable. >> there were two scenes in their. we want to share one of those with you now. there is an iconic photo including this one of the president with his fist up in the air. it appears to be the time he shook the secret service off, looked at the crowd and pumped his fist in the air. there is another shot, a low angle right there you see the
5:21 pm
blood across the right cheek bone and the american flag against a brilliant blue background sky in pennsylvania today. there is a third moment we saw, shannon paid the video of him getting in the suv. before the door shuts he pumps his fist in the air one final time. you heard him say, this was his voice invoice and let me get my. let me get my shoes. happened at least twice. maybe three times. the president is likely alive at this moment by mere centimeters of a bullet that apparently grazed his right year on that stage about two hours ago. shannon: as you said that will be a picture for the history books essentially as we watch this unfold live on television. and then the following sb from people across the political spectrum including president biden said he hopes to speak he
5:22 pm
said with donald tonight. bill, it is very possible we hear from president trump tonight. they've got to be considering that letting folks know that he is good by all reports in good spirits he is fine and safe is what i've heard from secret service and from his campaign as well. i imagine he'll be anxious even if it's on social media or elsewhere to put out a message and let people know how he is doing days away from coming here to the convention where frankly security is always exceptionally tight. i can only imagine the city be on tighter lockdown if that is possible for their safe march planned and milwaukee protesting the republican party, president trump for the battle back and forth to get permission to get the permits the things they needed here in milwaukee to get tempered that we understand is still planned for monday. will be very interesting to see how this in the convention in chicago and other political events, how things are changed
5:23 pm
after something so shocking what appears to be an attempt as you said to take out a former president on this day as a rally in pennsylvania. >> you see on the screen investigators assassination attempt. president joe biden said during his fame he may come out again tonight's if appropriate. we will wait on that. beutler, pennsylvania is a town of about 13000. beutler, pennsylvania as a county is about 200,000 this is north of pittsburgh it is considered rural. this has become the backbone of donald trump's of political career. rural america has hitched their wagon to his movement and it all started in november of 2016. it got stronger the election of 2020. this is the reason why running a campaign the preside present woo
5:24 pm
a place like beutler, pennsylvania today before tens of thousands of people. >> and knowing what a prize it is device at present was there in the philadelphia area for the first lady was there in pittsburgh today it is a price part of the brew blue wall dividing team is talked about they need to win. at the trump team thanks they need to pick off this time around but meantime on the potable front we talked about moments ago the biden team taking on all outgoing political advertising, commercials. essentially a pause on what we are looking at in the middle of a very heated campaign season. i believe we have congressman steve scalise with us it who isa survivor of political violence it. working together the morning you were shot we thank god every day you have recovered. i've got to ask you how did this sat with you today watching this play out? >> it was difficult to watch.
5:25 pm
brings back a lot of emotions. my first thoughts were to pray for president trump. early reports they weren't sure what happened you saw blood coming from his ear. but as we see now it was clear a clear assassination attempt maybe there is some divine intervention in preventing that from being much worse it could have been. there were other deaths. we pray for all of those who are injured or killed innocently. the shooter was it down and use out law enforcement take swift action. we saw that too on the ballfield. law enforcement goes to run toward the danger but they did it today, did on the ballfield that is one thing that keeps more people safe. when evil people show up to do things like this for there is no place for it. there is just no place for violence and power politics in america we could never accept that we all need to forcefully denounce it. bill: the same from the fbi for fbipersonnel on scene and beutl,
5:26 pm
pennsylvania the fbi will continue to work jointly as the investigation moves forward. speaking of that investigation we are a long way from truly understanding what happened here. we are a long way from understanding whether there is one person or more than one person who showed up at that rally today. i think about the day you were laying on that softball field for the baseball field in washington, d.c. with your colleagues. a gentleman had driven from several states away i believe it was illinois if my memory serves correctly. he had a truckload of weaponry he laid in wait for you and other colleagues to be there at 7:00 a.m. in the morning. i believe the shops hit you around 7:14 a.m. i think rand paul was at-bats i do believe taking batting practice. and a republican colleague of yours who did time and iraq, he is a doctor -- mickey is an
5:27 pm
expert in podiatry in is the one who attached the tourniquet to your body. and t likely saved your life. >> he absolutely did. look, brad is a hero of mine. who would've left early like he does some practices to go to his office, he had a meeting that got canceled so he stayed later than you normally would have. otherwise i might not be here right now. they hear wisdom of david bailey and krystal b crystal brian theo capitol police officers that were there who risk their lives both of them for their both were hit during the shoot out and kept going at it. again risk their life to protect mine and everyone else is the shooter's intent was to take out every republican on that ballfield there would've been over a dozen members of congress killed that day. but god was there to the miracles that happen that day. a lot of prayer, a lot of miracles and of their prayers going out right now to donald trump.
5:28 pm
under member that night donald trump came to the hospital to check on me and to console my family that was his birthday. he left a birthday party to come and check on me that is the kind of person he is pr pray text hia little while ago because he is a special man. he has a strong man i know that but he is a caring person he cares about people, he cares about this country. i know there are a lot of prayers going out to him right now as well as to the families of those who were also injured and killed. bill: one more question to you, sir. thank you for being with us here. the baseball game was played among democrats and republicans. and, as i recall that was a moment of bipartisanship that americans rarely see. far too early to know the impact of a moment like this. many have called to lower the temperature already. what is your sense about where that goes during election season? >> i think when you hear all of these calls and you've been
5:29 pm
hearing it for months, if donald trump winds will be a threat to america. you that rhetoric needs to stop because all it takes is one person who is just unhinged to hear that and act on it and think that is their signal to go take somebody out. we saw in the case with the baseball shooting with me. it was somewhat hearing part left rhetoric was over the top. and he acted on it. on this case we will find out more information we do not need to jump to conclusions. i think we could all safety rhetoric gets dialed down let's focus on the issues people care about. this is a great country's greatest country in the history of the world but we have problems. let's talk about those problems how to fix those problems. that is where most americans want to be. let's have the next few months focus on how we get this country back on track. i think that would be better for all of us.
5:30 pm
bill: sir, thank you steve scalise the republican we really appreciate your input for roy frink brought in for a moment brett's about to get on a plane. before i do however just received a text from the trump family. i'm going to read it word for word is not that long it is eric trump the son of donald trump who says my question was how his dad? his answer was the toughest guyi have ever met. that from the medical facility in pennsylvania but went to bring up my colleague bret baier before he goes on that plane were going to go to city this going to be different for this starting now. i've reached out to the campaign a number of people in trump world. all good signs about the former president you just the message you got from eric matches some of mine that i have received which is a great news. it is an indelible image, that picture of him with his fist in
5:31 pm
the air with the bloodied ear and face. i want to talk for one second about some of the other reporting on we are trying to dig this out. pennsylvania state police through a number of news organizations had sources saying one of the shots t may have hit the teleprompter and the glass shard may have hit the former president's ear for we do not know that to be a factor that is what pennsylvania state police are telling some reporters there on the ground. the other thing is and martha mentioned this earlier the shooter it look like this person was on top of this building. they were eye witnesses who said they thought that is where the shots were coming from. that person was dead on the building. we are trying to figure all of that with the videos that have surfaced online. but what is important for people to realize that in these moments sometimes online goes way faster than where authorities are or what is true.
5:32 pm
we have to try to find out real facts from real folks and that is what we're doing right now. bill: trouble while we will see you real soon. bret baier as he is with us as he is on his way to milwaukee, wisconsin. shannon: and want to suffer the beginning to play this video for folks have not seen from the start? look at that racked up you watch the moments we are all sitting here watching this live feed will give it to as it went down to see president trump touches his ear and it all goes from there, let's wash. >> take a look at what happened. correct get down get down get down get down. [screaming] what are we doing? what are we doing? [screaming] [screaming] [inaudible]
5:33 pm
hold, hold, when you're ready on you. move it. move it. go. hawkeyes here. hawkeye is here. are you ready? shooters down bridge shooters down for it shooters down, we are good to move it. we are clear we are clear at letlet'smove it. let's move. [inaudible] pack them up. >> let me get my shoes but let me get my shoe is for. >> i've got you sir i've got you sir. this year had it's bloodied. >> let me get my shoes. okay the shooter is down. >> watch out. wait, wait, wait. [inaudible] we've got to move it. we've got to move it.
5:34 pm
usa. usa. usa. usa. usa. usa. usa. usa. [inaudible] [inaudible] [inaudible] [inaudible]
5:35 pm
[inaudible] [inaudible] honestly, it was so unbelievable. [inaudible] shannon: you watch the recap of what happened as president trump was under attack essentially at this rally in pennsylvania but we are told the shooter is dead. we are told by local authorities tthere in butler, pennsylvania there is another person who is been a fatality in this case. others potentially injured as well. you saw president trump wanting to send the signal bloodied and being dragged off by secret service that he is okay. his fist pumping in the air. letting folks know he was not going down but he said to the secret service let me get my shoes and he wanted to walk out
5:36 pm
as they were trying to bundle and get him out which is their job. they got that around what probably slowed them down with him wanting to make sure the people knew he was okay. bill: shanna, you're sitting on the rally began you toss to it live you described it to me is happening five minutes into his address. i think for all of us, frankly will be here in the news and then we see it and we watch it it is stunning. but, when the news starts to settle in and you realize that was so close to hitting the right temple on the former president's head. that could have been a kill s shot. there are some reports suggesting the shooter was outside the perimeter where this rally was being held. we have not confirmed that some people talk about it being on top of a rooftop or it may be that's true the investigation is going to play out when it plays
5:37 pm
out. we'll get that information to you as quickly as we can but not before we confirm it ourselves for this a lot of stuff lying around social media as you can imagine x travels a vassal try to keep up as best we can. but to help try and answer some of these questions retire atf deputy assistant director peter is with us now. sir, thank you for your time and good evening to you. you have a watch the video. can you take us through what you see in that two minutes. click sure, sure thanks. look, president trump was incredibly lucky to be in life. had that bullet and a couple inches to the right it would've taken his life no doubt. keep in mind the bullet travels faster than sound for the injured before you're the first shot go off. obviously drop to the ground the secret service did a phenomenal job of surrounding him. think of the courage that takes for the secret service agent to put themselves in the gunman who
5:38 pm
shooting at the president and the present units will he is della graddy heard one of the secret service operators say the shooter is down. it is at that point they start standing former president trump puppets maintaining a perimeter to protect him in the event there was another shooter. but terrifying, terrifying and very say sensible lost her life there. incredibly lucky president trop trump did not lose his. secret service did a phenomenal job not just in protecting the present by eliminating a threat rather quickly. it could have been a much worse result. especially in such a crowd were other people could have been injured. we got off lucky, i hate to say. shannon: of peter, how tough is that with the large political rallies in this case outside with thousands of people there. how tough is it? what kind of a headache or a nightmare is it to try to get
5:39 pm
the completely sanitized as much as you can from a threat? it's very difficult as paul wrote said earlier i was with nypd before us with atf we handled large crowds all the time and often times monitor people coming in and out for the secret service as you have a uniform division that often screens people coming to these events. it is very difficult if so many moving parts so many people my understanding from what i am hearing from my sources are similar to what you are hearing the person was not inside of the event but firing from a rooftop. which doesn't make sense when you hear it was the counter snipers that eliminated this threat. that is their job is to take out a sniper as the term counter sniper. they did eight phenomenal job my prayers for president trump and his family and the family of the person who lost her life here. bill: peter, one last question is kind of hard to say right now how long this is investigation going to take?
5:40 pm
>> it might take some time for it obvious tha it was that the identity of the shooter that look at what he's done in the past up or they will look at a social media for the going to try to find out where the firearm came from bird who purchase a firearm for him? a repurchase in himself? and could go on for several months and work with the fbi taking the lead because it's an assassination attempt on the former president of the secret service provided support along with other federal agencies within their area of expertise. bill: over the person is, obviously the shooter is dead will they tell us tonight? >> i think they should. but again is going to depend where the investigation takes them pretty want to find out if there other parties involved in disclosing the name of the shooter could potentially cause other people to go into hiding it depends when the investigation. bill: thank you sir, thank you for jumping on really appreciate it. with fox digital brooks reports he former attorney general bill
5:41 pm
barr is quoted as saying the democrats have to stop their grossly irresponsible talk about trump being existential threat to democracy. he is not. that statement from bill barr and the fox digital just now. thirtshanno3shannon: will take x news conservators guy benson and charlie hurt. guy, you heard the former ag said we've got to turn down the temperature. >> yes, that is going to be, a think a theme that's going to play out be repeated in different ways in the coming days. we are still screwed to wait to get all the facts and for that smart to do a bit on the faces as horras horrifying as we were replaying the incident in real time several seconds into the chaos in the melee there's a bloodcurdling scream from a woman that just shows you to the core. the terror, the horror and at a campaign rally for man running for president. this is no place in our country
5:42 pm
you zoom out for a moment think about the volatility we already faced in american politics. all the legal issues surrounding president trump, the type of a roderick the former attorney general just alluded to in the statement we read, the turmoil with their likely nominee and some of the drama there. we're heading into a convention season. the summer season that was already simmering in about eight or nine out of 10 on the temperature scale. and now we have on top of that love vwere very much appears ton assassination attempt against a former president of the united states and at leading canada for president in the country right now. i think it is totally appropriate for people to be calling for prayers for the former president his family and all of those affected by what happened today. if you are the praying type it might be in order to pray for our country right now. these are dark days.
5:43 pm
i think if we take a collective step back and a breath and pray for our well-being as a nation that's probably a good idea on a night like this. bill: center at josh hawley suit their needs be a full investigation a major security breach is exactly right about that but imagine the investigation charlie is getting great this hour. >> yes i would think so without a doubt. it is an extraordinary moment. there's a lot of things we do not know at the moment a lot of things we do know face on the available evidence at the moment this was an assassination attempt on donald trump. i was struck by your very powerful interview with steve scalise it's a very sobering reminder of how long this toxics will has been brewing in this
5:44 pm
country. it is unacceptable. you could not have a free country of self governance when you have violence like this. we are so lucky we are not looking far graver situation than donald trump it obviously a supporter of his went out today to participate in our public politics. and apparently is dead. that is so unthinkable and so despicable. one other thing that is important to note as you pointed out, donald trump, for all he knew he was dead at that moment. yet he took a moment to want to hold back and make sure people knew he was okay. to be that the sign of bravery and toughness and a concern for poco process in this country.
5:45 pm
