uproar. gas apologizes that jack black cancels the rest of their european tour, why do you think he did that? do you think it was right to do that? >> no, i think obviously the comment was horrible. right after this happens. really bad thing to say. he did apologize. he admitted that. he's been dropped by his talent agency. what should he do? kill himself at this point. and jack black, that's your buddy. that's like your best friend and i feel like to completely toss it away, i'm just not for cancel culture. i don't care what side or what the issue is, if someone makes a joke, no matter how bad it is, if they apologize, i don't think that person should never no longer be welcome in polite society again. >> brian, you do so much tv, four hours a day, and i wish for you to do something like this,

desantos, that the gop unity has come full circle. do you feel that way? >> i do. i was here in milwaukee on that debate stage about a year ago as a presidential candidate and now we're if the same place, in milwaukee in a different context, but i'll tell you this from walking around the convention, and meeting the every day citizens who are here, one of the things i see, is it's not just about republican party unity, people here are hungry about national unity, people are hungering for it, and i chose to focus my speech where i did. people are hungry americans, not just republicans, and that's a big theme of this particular convention more so than has been true in the past. >> i found a couple of your points compelling. i want to start with one, it's the american dream where you're telling people that you should speak your mind, watch this. >> you will still get ahead in this country with your own hard work, your own commitment, your own dedication, and you know what, you are free to speak your

9:33 pm
that's been discriminatory based on political beliefs, so i think that brings a lot of credibility with it, to say we don't want to weaponize the justice system in one direction or the other, we want neutral principles that lift up all americans economically and every other way, black, white, hispanic, asian and everything in between. and i hope that's part of our unifying platform. >> you mentioned donald trump, and i want to end with donald trump, and the assassination attempts on the forker president. what -- former president, what do you think, what is the vibe you're getting? do you believe the former president is changing his politics because of what happened on saturday? does it change the former president? >> i don't think it changes his politics. i think it gives americans an opportunity to see a different side of him. and i think that that's an important distinction to draw. this is a man who wants to go in there, and build on those successes of that first term to in some ways go even further
9:34 pm
with the america first agenda, but to do it in a way with all those experiences under his belt, to say i do want to be the person who unites this country, and he cares deeply about that, it hasn't always come through with all the filters and media filter, but one of the things we'll see in that second term is something nobody on the left would have expected but is going to benefit from too. donald trump the uniter, and i think all of us have a role to play in that and i would love nothing more, trace, than to see that not just for the rest of this campaign, but for the next four years. >> thank you for staying up late with us, sir, we appreciate your time. >> and with that, let's bring in the spectators, washington editor amber and teslan, here is what nikki halle said tonight amber and i'll get your take on the other side. watch. >> no president can fix all of our problems alone. we have to do this together. america has an amazing ability to self correct.
9:35 pm
in this moment, we have a chance to put aside our differences and focus on what unites us and strengthens our country. >> she said unites us, the big theme here amber is unity. are they achieving it? did they achieve it. >> i will say being in the convention centre tonight i saw a lot of minds change on nikki halle, even just the difference from her being booed when she walked in to receiving a mix of boos and applause as she was leaving suggests that her message landed at least for some people there, and the important thing is that nikki halle polls incredibly well among independents, who trump is trying win over to the gop, and i think nikki halle recognizes if she wants a future in the republican party she has to play ball and recognize that where the party is is with trump. >> teslan the get rid of biden band wagon seems to be back on the move.
9:36 pm
the new york times -- told attendees at a democratic fundraiser the party would lose the senate and miss a chance to take the house if the president did not drop out. and then you coupled that with solan writing this, back to being angry, pelosi working the phones to oust biden as democratic mutiny continues. we thought that this was kind of fading, and it doesn't appear to be doing that. >> it should be, pelosi should put the phone down and who cares what the new york times had to say. i was one of the first ones saying joe biden should not have been the nominee, but he is and it's not up to the new york time. if the republican party can come together and unify after desantos said after trump couldn't win, and cruz said he was a pathological liar, than the party has an opportunity to come together in what they call unify and get on the same board, get on the same page.
9:37 pm
joe biden is the nominee. he said the other day he's on the horse and detroit welcomed him, so if the elite are or the celebrities or big donors don't want to get on board, leave it up to the people. why are we afried to leave it up to the people. the republicans and democrats have decided who their nominee is. >> she's right. president biden said i'm in for the long hall, i'm on the horse, i'm the guy, i'm not going to stop, and yet tonight he give an interview with b.e.t., and said this about being quote a transitional candidate. >> i said i was going to be a transitional candidate and i thought i would be able to move from this, and pass it on to someone else, but i didn't anticipate things getting so, so, so, divided. there's more to do and i'm reluctant to walk away from that. >> i find it interesting, that for two weeks we find out he's not walking away, and tonight he says i'm reluctant to walk away. it seems like a half step back.
9:38 pm
>> that is interesting, he said previously that he would only drop out of the race if the lord almighty came down and told him to do it, and then he said he would have to be hit by a train to get pushed out, so it doesn't seem like he's going anywhere just yet. i think it would take a really big effort from not just people within the democratic party, who are close to biden, but also, of course, his family members to be on board with him stepping aside, and we haven't seen any indication yet that that's the case. >> but it sure feels like the pressure is starting to kind of reratchet up here. jd advance, the vp pick of former president trump and the current vice-president kamala harris had a conversation and we're told it was very cordial, and talked about a debate. no date set yet. do you think a vp debate is going to happen? >> it absolutely should, since
9:39 pm
all the conversation talks about if joe biden drops out, maybe vp harris could be a pick. i don't think she should be, i think biden should be at the top of the ticket, but i think it would be a robust debate. a lot of people don't know who vance is, not familiar with him, people on the democrat side, enjoy vp harris making the case, obviously, we've seen trump and biden several times, debate, so i think it should be good, we should know who should be next in line for the commander in chief. >> thank you both. meantime, in the wake of former president trump's vice-presidential pick, jd vance, those on the right and the left are sounding off about the junior senator from ohio. mark meredith is live outside the rnc in milwaukee. mark, good evening. >> good evening to you, they sure are. we know the trump campaign is working overtime to try to get the jd vance signage up all over the convention, rolling out his profile nationwide. vance was front and centre inside the rnc, and did not give
9:40 pm
his speech, that's going to come tomorrow night, we're hearing from those who are coming out to show their support for vance, including former senator mark rubio who just a day ago was on the vice-president short list. >> jd vance is someone i think embodies in many ways epitomizes the voter that trump has attracted to the republican party and in many ways, people are bad-mouthing him for things he might have said six or seven years ago, that is the transition that millions of americans have made when it comes to donald trump. >> democrats are ready to paint vance as an extremist. and they've got new billboards up across milwaukee and could roll them out nationwide going forward, where they tried to show that vance in their view would be just as bad for democrats as donald trump would be. even in wisconsin, there was a new conference, corey booker came out, wanting to make it clear, they wanted to put vance's views on abortion front and centre. it's worth repeating that, yes,
9:41 pm
vice-president harris, and the vice-presidential nominee, have connected by phone, but whether or not we're going to see them on a debate stage, trace, that is yet to be seen. they've talked about it, but if and when under what conditions, still to be determined. trace. >> a lot of details to work out, mark, live for us outside the convention. let's bring in new york post reporter lydia, and rnc creator and pro-israel activist, emily you a stone. axe yeah writes, a photo editor and photographer from a major news outlet said it's dangerous for media organizations to keep sharing that photo despite how good it is. another photographer worried that the photo would be a propaganda machine with the image itself making trump a martyr. lydia, to you, now, could having the new -- covering the news, and showing these photos is propaganda. only in 2024 is news propaganda?
9:42 pm
>> only in 2024, and in 2020, and over the last few years. this has sort of been the name of the game and we're hearing from left right and centre, this is an iconic photo. something that is jaw dropping. it captures a moment and people can't even believe it's real, because it's such an incredible photo, and the reaction of the media is basically to say, let's not give it any coverage, let's pretend it doesn't exist, and this is sort of what they tried to do with a lot of theories about vaccine, origins of covid, but i think it's changed so much in the last few years, particularly with elon musk's purchase of x, people are getting their news in a lot of different places and so the fact that the new york times or a certain media outlet doesn't want to give something a presence, doesn't mean that people aren't going to see it anymore, because there are so many outlets, people are looking for their news now. >> that's exactly right and we're going to see that picture again and again, like it or not, because it is iconic. nobody says more outrageous
9:43 pm
thing, emily than joy read, and she's keeping her record going, you'll be happy to know, with this. >> part of the price of magadom, particularly if you're a person of colour is to take the humiliation. nikki halle was not even invited, and yet she said i pledge all my delegates to trump. >> and they reversed it. >> she's actually saying, emily that black republicans just need to accept the humiliation. >> there's no humiliation in it, and what drives me insane, is if you try to have a substantial conversation with these people, aka, why is trump racist, why do you believe xy and z about trump, most of the time they don't have an answer for you. a lot of protestors outside of the rnc, and unlike most people i decided to actually engage with them, and many of them told me you support a racist, you support someone who will ban abortion, and when i tell them,
9:44 pm
how is donald trump racist, they start stuttering, i'm not going to explain how gravity works, is what somebody told me. and they said trump said he won't ban abortion, they walk away. they want to talk about propaganda, and spew this rhetoric to promote their narrative that's anti-trump. >> i'm surprised they didn't call you a denier. yo biden brought up two debunked hoaxes with lester holt, and holt did not say a word. >> fine people on both sides, no excuse, zero. >> let's talk about the conversation this has started, and it's really about language. >> my opponent engages in that rhetoric, talks about it being a bloodbath if he loses. >> this doesn't sound like you're turning down the heat.
9:45 pm

so it certainly was a suitable firing position. so from a counter sniper perspective, it's obviously a good spot. so that that line of that that that that narrative doesn't really track for me. >> so, i mean, what we're saying here, maureen o'connell, is that, you know, you had police officers on scene. they knew this 26 minutes they were warned and then even 90 seconds before there were people on the ground saying, he's got a gun, he's up there, he's got a gun. and nobody seemed to do anything to either protect the president on the stage or to go after and, you know, confront the gunman. >> well, comms has always been an issue, always when it when you talk about a number of different agencies being involved in anything and i've done the academy awards and all kinds of other things, 100 different times. >> if you're with an lapd officer or a pennsylvania state trooper, whatever you need to have either one of their radios or they need to be standing there with you. so when something comes over
