involved, that spoke to a lot of the trump followers. >> the heartfelt messages that he put out last night had to have touched a lot of people. talking about the girl that lost her dad's life at the rally. it was heart breaking covering the funeral today and the community grieving with the loss of that man. i think perhaps one of the best things that i've heard after last night's speech is van jones reaction on cnn. you have probably seen this by now. former obama adviser. he said after that speech, it felt like obama 2008, jessica. there's something happening, he said. he described the spirit and the energy that he felt being there at the republican national convention. that's a pretty remarkable thing. you know? you know, when you see pictures like this and you see him waving his hat and people were happy to be there. 90 minutes is a pretty long speech. but people hung in there for it.

escalator and got elected. what are we doing? we're getting ready to re-elect him. donald trump deserves more credit than barack obama does. donald trump has done it in spite of the media and whereas barack obama did it because of the media. i think it's an even more extraordinary feat for him to have done that. and then to do all of this -- he's right, of course -- the most unifying thing that democrats could do would be to stop this nonsense and stop the smears and persecutions and the slimes. that would go a long way to unifying the country. >> jeanine: one of the things that -- we're going to talk about this in the next block. the corey tribute. a lot of people on the left were not pleased with that. you know, they felt it was fake and shouldn't have done it. >> that's a shame. i certainly found it to be very moving. i was personally interested in hearing his account of what the rally was like and what that

feels like. it's something that is probably one of the greatest fears that people that do public speaking like that have. i thought that that was really meaningful for the country to hear. but the rest of the speech was a complete departure from that first three minutes of donald trump. so the original speech -- and we had copies of it. i was there on the floor. i never saw donald trump live. glad i experienced that. the speech is supposed to be 3,000 words and he went 12,000 words. 9,000 words worth of ad libbing. using all of those ad libs were unifying, about bringing people together, you're mistaken. i don't understand why pundits like van jones saying that donald trump has changed. is this the night that he becomes presidential?
