contributor steve melton. what do you make of what you've heard so far, steve? speaker john, i was making some notes there about what she was saying. i have to tell you what i wrote down here, blah, blah, blah, that's what i wrote down because in terms of her message, her positive message about what she wants to achieve and the campaign is all about all we hear is a bunch of totally protectable platitudes. that goes to the heart of our biggest vulnerabilities because in the end we know are really well. little bit personally and we have watched her here in california, she is exactly like joe biden in the sense she is a classic machine politician. she does not have some core set of beliefs or values or ideas she wants to push forward. she is in it just as he was for personal ambition, climbing the ladder and that means there is a fatal weakness. because someone like that who doesn't really believe in

anything, they just get pushed around. they get pushed around biden. foreign enemies you saw that with biden in the case of iran, they get pushed around where the power lands in that party and that's the far left base. that's what we need to focus on. one thing for the records she needs to be careful going on about this prosecuting sexual predators when she was district attorney in san francisco, when there was a real scandal involving child sexual abuse, she cited with the perpetrators against the victims so that record is potentially dangerous for her. >> sandra: she will be challenged on that for sure. you fear perhaps maybe you are underestimating her or republicans may be underestimating her in this moment? i mean, if you think about a voter, all they want to do is be donald trump. i mean, did you sense the enthusiast and that she may be

rallying that voter base? i didn't hear any thing about immigration, foreign policy, immigration, crime, the things that matter to most of the american people. however, if you are a voter all you want to do is make sure donald trump doesn't win and does not seen another term in office. is she getting the folks attention right now? >> certainly in terms of attention i think you are very right it's important that they trump campaign republicans don't underestimate what just happened. first of all, as we have seen, she will have this enormous media movement. we watch the other media, they are completely behind the harris campaign as it is now. that will continue through election day. the question is this. we know from the polling and we all see it in our lives and the evidence people want change in this company, country. this is a change election and people want to see change. the question is will they now

see kamala harris as being the change because she is different from joe biden? or will the trump campaign sect to successfully be able to show that she has not changed at all? she is more of the same? if you really want change you have to vote for trump. that will be the central argument in the selection. >> john: if the beginning of her speech is any indication it will be the same record she ran to the nominee of the democratic party in 2020. let's flash back to that campaign. january 17th 2019, larra basil's and wrote in "the new york times" of kamala harris kamala harris was not a progressive prosecutor. the senator was often wrong on the wrong side of history when she served as california attorney general. going on to say time after time when progressive urged to embrace criminal justice as a district attorney and attorney general ms. harris opposed or stayed silent. most troubling she fought truth down my tooth and nail to fight wrongful convictions through

official misconduct." which she runs on the same thing she ran on for four years ago, she didn't even make the first primary. how does she hope to make it to the election and win? >> exactly. that is the record that has to be scrutinized. in particular the big one which is all of those crime and chaos and homelessness and drug addicts in the street. the whole nation now knows from california kamala harris is right at the heart of that because in 2014 she pushed forward proposition 47. which is really a foundational reason for all of that crime and chaos. that record needs to be tied around her neck. >> sandra: steven hilton thank you very much. >> john: thank you, steve will be right back.
