and this is america's late news, "fox news @ night". [ crowd noise ] [ screaming ] >> trace: breaking tonight, brand-new and very compelling video of the assassination attempt against donald trump and it is the clearest and closest video that we have seen. it's coming up. meantime in the blink of an eye, kamala harris appears to be the democrats presumptive nominee for president, coming on the heels of a remarkable 24 hours in presidential history. and one democratic congressman calls it the lightning quick unification of his party. the vice president holding her first official campaign event in wisconsin today and a confused president biden made his first public appearance since dropping out. >> why did you drop out, mister president?
8:02 pm
why did you drop out of the election? was it a difficult decision to make? >> trace: but two days in, it's becoming clear exactly what kind of campaign kamala harris will run. >> i took on perpetrators of all kind. >> predators who abused women. fraudsters who ripped off consumers. cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. so here me when i say, i know donald trump's type. >> trace: and she has said that again and again. the problem is, com a law the cop is a difficult cell. senior national correspondent kevin corke is live with more on that. >> reporter: good evening my friend. as ll cool j famously said, don't call it a come back, i've been here for years. certainly that could be said for the vice president kamala harris. after all she's hitting the road once again as a candidate for president but this bite of the

apple is a world apart from her last campaign for a back in 2020 you remember that one? bowed out of the primaries without a delegate. today though harris is her party's presumptive nominee and arguably i think it could be said she looks the part. speaking for about 30 minutes before an enthusiastic crowd, declaring november's election is a choice between freedom and chaos. >> so here me when i say, i know donald trump's type, and in this campaign i promise you i will proudly put my record against his any day of the week. and i pledge to you i will spend the coming weeks continuing to unite our party so that we are ready to win in november. [ cheering and applause ] >> trace: >> reporter: the speech coming amid a fresh infusion of campaign cash. over 200 million since sunday if you can believe it. that's a lot of cash indeed.

of course also fresh polling from reuters suggesting she's leading the former president 44- 42. it's one pole but it's out there. this is her boss, the current president joe biden, finally emerged from his self-imposed isolation following yet another bout with covid. the 81-year-old expected to explain to the american people's decision to drop out of the race in an address to the nation tomorrow night. we are told, he will speak at around 8:00 pm eastern time. we will have live coverage before and after those remarks. >> trace: we will be here with a follow-up tomorrow night. kevin corke, thank you. the "fox news @ night" commonsense department could not believe it's here's one kamala harris said she would put her record up against donald trump's record any day, prompting commonsense to ask, what record? she has no record. her big cake in the biden a ministration was to fix the
8:05 pm
immigration crisis. instead of calling the head of the border patrol and mopping a plan, she told the migrants "do not come. out 10 million or so did not listen, meaning her big gig was a i fail and she was a liability. until two days ago when joe biden was mysteriously compelled to drop out and within 30 hours, 186 house members, 43 senators and 23 governors endorsed her. twenty-three other lawmakers indicated they would also endorser. labor unions, hollywood, the media all followed suit. it wasn't a coronation, it was coercion, or as any mob boss would put it, the code of silence. democrats would sign on, smile and shut up unless of course it was to profess their love for kamala harris, because she's no longer cringe, now she's cool. confident, a quintessential commander-in-chief. or trail of despair and instruction from california to capitol hill?
8:06 pm
forget about it. but commonsense thanks it's easy to manufacture temporary support , touting a record is much tougher, especially when it's joe biden's record. let's bring in former white house deputy strategic communications director and fox news contributor. thank you for coming on, roman daravi and tran12 -- tomi lahren. we saw joe biden today, a little worried and he ignored all questions. listen to this. >> what will you tell americans tomorrow night? why did you drop out, mister president? why did you drop out of the election? was it a difficult decision to make? >> trace: what do you think? the speeches tomorrow night, you expect any surprises, roma daravi? >> well look, this is the
8:07 pm
definition of a bait and switch. joe biden has been playing the hiding biden came he knows very well and who knows what he's going to say tomorrow night. one thing we do know for sure is that we cannot let him slip quietly into the night. he owes the american people an explanation and frankly so does kamala harris. she's been completely complicit in this cover-up, in these lies, saying that joe biden is fit to be president, fit to run for reelection. we now know plain and clear that that is not the case. they certainly owe an exclamation -- explanation to the american people. i don't know we will get that unless the media hopes for it -- presses for it. we will have to see what comes tomorrow night. >> trace: we will indeed. we played that soundbite where harris has said about being a prosecutor and she knows donald trump's type. it's interesting that already in this campaign they are going after trump because they don't have much to run on. >> they don't have much to run
8:08 pm
on and vice president kamala harris does not have much to run on. you will notice that both kamala harris and everybody campaigning and supporting her, the entire democrat party that is circling the wagons, they did not want anything to do with her a couple of weeks ago as you mentioned but now within hours they are suddenly all aboard the kamala operation coconut tree. but you will notice when they talk about kamala harris or when she talks about herself, she talks about being a prosecutor. how long ago was that? you will notice she does not talk about her record as vice president, all of the things she was tasked with as vice president, she does not list any of those accomplishments of course they have to dig back into history for when she was a prosecutor and try to tout this like she's some kind of bad cop. however there's a lot there they don't want to get into, they don't want to talk about her record of locking up black men for low-level offenses, they don't want to talk about in 2020 when she tweeted out the bail fund for george floyd, lueders and riders.
8:09 pm
this whole bad cop kamala thing will play well. a lot of inconsistencies there. >> trace: and all she said she wants to build up the middle class. is anyone anywhere know her policies because she has not really articulated them to this point. >> look, the only person who's hid more than joe biden during his administration is kamala harris. she's our apparent borders are and has only been to the border one time, to a nice area that had no problems. president trump said it would be great to get dinner there. she doesn't care about the issues, she doesn't care about the american people. if she was focused on the economy would -- we would be saying a booming economy. what we are seeing is 20% plus increases on prices for everything for american families so you have to ask yourself, how different is kamala from joe biden? really not at all. her policies or his policies. the only difference is that she truly is more radical and more volatile than joe biden. some of the things she said
8:10 pm
border communism. it's really disturbing. >> trace: the new york times says on electability scale, kamala harris is dead last. but some of these names up. , josh schapiro number 1, all the way down at nine and ten are gavin newsom and kamala harris. i've got about 30 seconds to wrap us up on this. >> kamala is a california liberal. it's time to remind the nation of that. but i would caution republicans from underestimating not kamala harris necessarily but the democrat machine behind her. i think donald trump has to play this really safe. i think he asked to act presidential. i'm not sure the name calling his part helps. this isn't going to be easy. don't forget they've got a great democrat apparatus they are working with, don't get too comfortable. >> trace: we shall see. tomi lahren, roma daravi, thank you both. there have been a lot of criticisms about if the white house was transparent enough about biden's health in the months leading up to the debate but now calls have gone further, including vise presidential
8:11 pm
candidate jd vance is saying if he's not up to serving four more years, and he serve out the rest of his term, how do you respond? >> ridiculous, seriously. >> he's ridiculous not, the mainstream media has forgotten about joe biden and his myriad flaws and has moved on to fawning over their new presidential candidate. let's bring in journalist batya ungar-sargon and the spectators washington editor amber duke. thank you for coming on. amber, i want to play some sound from the media today just fawning. they all got the memo right, just fawning all over kamala harris. watch. >> i was blown away. i kind of fell in love with her. i thought she was smart, engaging, funny, feisty, a twinkle in her eye, punch you in the gut. everything you could want. >> this feels like obama 2008 when my dad was running around fired up and ready to about. >> for the first time in months
8:12 pm
i don't want to build a pillow fort and hide in there with a hoagie and talbot frosting. is this hope? >> trace: amber, who knew she was obama in address. >> i would be excited too if i were eight democrat because i went from a candidate who could not walk up the stairs to air force one to a candidate that can actually read a teleprompter and has a pulse. from their perspective, this is a huge upgrade but i think it's important to remember that for the majority of the biden administration, kamala harris actually had a lower approval rating than joe biden. she is joe biden with all of the baggage of his policies but without any of the possible charm or union credibility that he had in 2020. she's actually even more progressive than joe biden. she supports abolishing -- abolishing ice, taking police office treats. she supports decriminalizing illegal immigration. i mean this woman is joe biden on steroids so as soon issues
8:13 pm
reintroduced to the american people, that post announcement is going to disappear very quickly. >> i want to use the word you used, credibility, because kamala harris was part of this whole cover-up thing. listen to some sound and i will get your thoughts. >> joe biden is going to be fine. ages more than a chronological fact. not only is he absolutely authoritative in rooms around the globe but in the oval office >> i'm ready if necessary but it won't be necessary. >> trace: i mean she knew, the media new, everybody knew and they just gas let us for years. >> absolutely. this soft coup we just witnessed that was started by clooney and then obama got in on it and finally nancy pelosi showed up and apparently said to joe biden, you know, nice presidency you've got, it would be a shame if anything happened to it. none of that would have been possible without the help of the
8:14 pm
media, the liberal media, not fox news of course, your viewers knew the truth, but cnn viewers, new york times viewers, they had no idea what was going on with joe biden for four years, they just did not know because the media lied to them and then the minute it was revealed to them through that debate, the media did this 180, turned on joe biden and became unbelievable -- harris has now been reborn like a newborn from the ashes of joe biden's presidency and that's what we are seeing now. >> and a joe biden is a hero, don't forget that. she said now we are faced with the fact that the same people who last month insisted that biden was at the top of his game have now shoved him into some delaware basement and are supporting harris 24 sweatshirts, how are we supposed to believe anything they say? how did we believe them up to
8:15 pm
this point after all the stories and tales they've told. >> that's what's incredible. this is the same media apparatus that has a history of pushing the russian collusion hoax, that has a history of pushing all manner of propaganda, falls propaganda against the former president. anyone who believes them now, to a certain extent that kind of get what they deserve. but it's funny to see the revisionist history on joe biden being this great hero of how his legacy is going to live on and then you see joe biden doing the same thing about the secrets go secret service director, praising her as she is resigning and disgrace for one of the biggest security failures in modern american history. these people just love to rewrite the history books as it's happening. >> trace: here is cnn's welder data guru on kamala harris. >> the fact is, donald trump is more popular now than he ever has been. so yes, democrats can make this switch but they will still have
8:16 pm
to beat donald trump, a donald trump who is stronger than he's ever been before. >> and the honeymoon will be very short. about 30 seconds to wrap us up. >> the rnc presented the american people with a positive message, that donald trump was the guy running on the american dream. how can we get the american dream back? the democrats don't have that, they can't accomplish that so they just run on negative messaging about donald trump and kamala harris is doing the same. >> trace: thank you both. meantime with democrats downright giddy over the prospect of a harris trump matchup, the former president and his allies are pushing back against the legitimacy of her candidate. ashley strohmier is live with that side of the story tonight. good evening. >> reporter: hello trace. another loud -- large crowd in charlotte as the former president rallied supporters at his first major campaign event since president biden dropped out of the race and trump claims the whole thing is unfair.
8:17 pm
late tuesday trump campaign filed an official complaint with the federal election commission accusing the biden harris campaign of violating finance laws by essentially moving biden money to harris. trump has repeatedly claimed democrats are ignoring the will of the voters by choosing harris, despite biden being this year's nominee. still trump says he's ready to debate harris as soon as september. >> i haven't agree to anything. i agreed to a debate with joe biden but i want to debate her. she will be no different. they have the same policies. i think debating is important for a presidential race. i think you have to -- you have an obligation to debate. if you are the candidate of the republican party, it's a two party system. >> meantime lots of unanswered questions surrounding just how quickly democrats anointed kamala harris is the unchallenged successor to president biden. the new york post likening the process to a coronation. the trump campaign says it's
8:18 pm
well aware polling could show kamala harris soon far out performing former president but they insist it will only be a temporary pump because democrats are feeling more energized and the campaign says it's ready to roll of new attacks against the likely nominee. >> trace: we shall see. ashley strohmier live in new york, thank you. let's bring in former dod chief of staff -- chief of staff kash patel. i want to play some sound, the chair of the dnc on this coronation. >> the process has been fair, open and transparent but if anybody is thinking about running, you are running against a sitting vice president. if you don't have the gravitas, and she has it. >> trace: forget the 14 million votes cast for joe biden. >> right. let's call this what this is, great to be with you, the democratic party of the united states of america has hijacked uncommitted thievery against 14 million americans who casted ballots in the primaries all for joe biden, in the name of resurrecting the democratic system they so enshrined in
8:19 pm
their daily eat those. they have literally committed political insurrection and hijacked the democratic process and they are saying to the american people don't worry about it, it's actually still fair, we are doing everything aboveboard. but there's no open convention. what do the 14,000,002? their votes are discarded, they are represented in their states. i'm glad president trump is challenging the findings put all the states have their own rules as to how delegates are awarded at the national convention in the dnc has just robbed every state party of that legal opportunity. there should be some more legal challenges there. >> trace: they keep defending it. what do you make of the reporting that joe biden was really kind of bullied out of this thing, pushed out of it. the new york post says the well orchestrated palace coup to stop the faltering president from seeking reelection had been in place for weeks as calls for him to bow out mounted, he insisted he would continue but party bigwigs threaten to invoke the 25th amendment to the u.s. constitution. talk about assaulting democracy.
8:20 pm
>> this is straight skulduggery. they utilize the 25th amendment as blackmail against the sitting president of the united states and completely distorted the purpose of the 25th amendment. on the first had to tell you joe biden is not a great commander-in-chief, he's terrible and does not have the capacity to do it. they have used the 25th amendment to swipe out joe biden and said if we don't get our way, we the democratic party are going to come in here and instill our own new leadership system and we are going to drag you out of washington. this is a democratic party saying this after all the things they did to donald trump, after all the corrupt government people in dc, wearing to wear a wire against donald trump. who does it? the democrats. the height of hypocrisy, corruption cover-up playbook that can only originate in washington and the halls of the democratic party. >> trace: fox news.com talking about the doj suddenly finding special council tapes.
8:21 pm
they say the past few days the department located six electronic files consisting of a total of 117 pages that appear to be verbatim transcripts of a small subset of the biden audio recordings graded by the special council by a court recording service. about 15 seconds. kind of crazy, we found it! >> is a former doj guy, of course they had the tapes from their investigation and interrogation of joe biden. did they lose them, give them to the fbi to throw into the river? it's another corruption cover-up scandal. they've had sum the entire time. congress needs to act and we need to here the tapes before the election. >> trace: kash patel, great to have you on, thank you. up next, the same data secret service director resigned in disgrace, we are getting new information about the attempt on former president trump's life. and the new video we promised you with the top of the show, this is compelling, it's the closest we've seen yet. we will have a live report from pennsylvania next.
8:22 pm
and later in the nightcap, president biden is set to address the nation tomorrow night with speculation running rampant about what he might say. >> it looks like he's cognitively impaired so i find it hard to square that without he can serve out his term. >> there's a lot he can do in the next six months as a president who is not coming back. he doesn't have all the weight on him to be reelected. >> trace: bottom line, everybody's a bit unsure of what he might say. he's already dropped his reelection bid and with questions about his health ongoing, do you think he might announce something big? resignation maybe? or will it be more of the same, insisting he's fine and capable of finishing his term? what do you think,'s resignation on the table? let us know x and instagram @tracegallagher, we will read your responses coming up in the nightcap. we are coming right back. s way. this way has people who start early. people who care and inspire each other to do things the way they should be done.

[♪♪] >> trace: we have brand-new video tonight of the attempted assassination of former president trump ten days ago taken by an eyewitness to the shooting. live in pennsylvania with new footage a new information. good evening. >> reporter: this new terrifying video taken by an eyewitness and his family as they were standing by the agr building as thomas crooks opened fire. watch and listen as you can hear eight shots coming from crooks followed by what sounds like two counter sniper shots. [ gunshots ] [ screaming ] [ bleep ] [ bleep ]

[ screaming ] [ bleep ] [ bleep ] >> trace: out. >> reporter: at one point before crooks is shot and killed he turns in point is ar-15 style rifle towards the crowd. the man who took the video says he's shocked. he and the rest of the crowd were allowed to stand right outside the rally with a clear view of trump without having to go through security. >> definitely was not secure. amex military. one of the first things i noticed was that none of us was vetted. we were all along the fence, we have a view of the stage. we could see trump. it could have been worse. if we weren't there, it could have been a lot worse because that guy would've been up there with nobody pointing him out and who knows how many rounds he would have got off. >> reporter: also new tonight, a senator releasing brand-new police body cam video showing
8:30 pm
blood and crooks body on the roof. you can hear secret service agent talking to local law enforcement seemingly confirming that crooks was the same guy photographed by a sniper earlier in that day. >> trace: bryan llenas live for us, thank you. let's bring in nicole parker and former washington dc homicide detective ted williams, both fox news contributor's. welcome to you. nicole i want to go back before we get into this video, and some more breaking information, are you surprised that the secret service director kim cheatle resigned, did you expect she might fight on longer? >> i'm not surprised at all. her time is done. she went before the committee yesterday and it was disgraceful the fact it was bipartisan, both republicans and democrats were saying you have to go. i don't think she anticipated that. i think she thought she could skate by. we watched merrick garland skate
8:31 pm
by. she probably thought i will do the same. it did not work this time. it's totally inappropriate. i'm glad she resigned. but it's not over. the investigation is not over and the questioning of her is not over. you have to get to the bottom of this. i want to here from the special agent in charge in pittsburgh, whoever signed off on the operations plan. every single individual involved need to answer questions. >> trace: me too. ted, i know you've got new information so i will couple this and with you because one of the local officials at the trump rally had this to say about the night before the rally... >> the evening before when we came for the volunteering, we weren't vetted, we weren't asked questions were patted down. it was very loose and quite frankly very uncomfortable. i did have to share those concerns with my emergency services. >> trace: it kind of sounds like they let their guard down all along the way. >> absolutely they did, trace.
8:32 pm
i can tell you, i spoke to witnesses who informed me that the night before, it was a very relaxed seen. this was a nightmare just waiting to happen. it was terribly unfortunate. one of the things we have to discuss is why would they let the president of the united states on that stage when they knew they had a suspicious person out there? >> trace: exactly right, a good point. meantime new video, nicole to you, because the shooters dad, we can play this, the shooters dad for the first time today, he was out shopping, they got video of him, he made a quick statement. did not say much but it's worth watching and listening to him because this is the first time we've heard the shooters dad talk at all about this. watch. >> will you release a statement. >> when legal council advises us to do so.
8:33 pm
we just want to take care of ourselves right now. please give us our space. >> trace: i want to know what you think, should the father be more deeply investigated as part of this? >> i think he's well-informed to keep his mouth shut. he has legal council and will follow their instruction, a good idea right now. their culpability as the parents, their firearm, we will see what happens. you saw a case in michigan where the parents had culpability. but this is a unique situation, a tragic situation. but i do think -- i believe they've cooperated with fbi and investigators. can you imagine being a parent and your son potentially is trying to kill president trump? how awful must they feel. that's awful, but they need to answer questions as well. >> trace: former president trump said this to jesse watters tonight, ted... >> he should have major there was no one on the roof. the roof had did aim onto the
8:34 pm
stage. they said they did not have the manpower for it, which is crazy. 130 yards is like sinking a 12-foot putt. it's considered really close. >> trace: kind of like you said, why was he on the stage? i've got about 30 seconds, the roof was uncovered i guess. >> you know, that should have never happened. the advance team should have covered the roof. when they saw they had a suspicious person out there, they should have kept trump from going on the stage. this is just something that should never happen. >> trace: ted williams, nicole parker, thank you. kamala harris entering her brat summer? how the presidential campaign is taking a strange strategy to embrace gen z voters. plus, a 99-year-old athlete gets a second chance at a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and florida firefighters rescue

[♪♪] >> trace: british pop singer sparked a viral moment for kamala harris over the weekend by calling her brat. now the vise presidents campaign is capitalizing on the brat brand. matt finn is live. good evening. >> reporter: the nickname has become a popular term for a cool wild party girl. a famous british pop singer called vice president kamala harris a brat and now here is is running with it. as a significant endorsement among young voters. with a simple tweet, the british pop singer ground here is a brat explaining on tiktok that a brat is, it ready for this, just like

that girl who's a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some, like, dumb things sometimes who, like, feels herself but also, like, maybe has a breakdown but but kind of, like, parties through it. that explanation does not necessarily sound like something a presidential candidate would want to embrace, but the harris campaign is. the hq twitter account changed it's backdrop to the same limegreen brat color and font that the pop singer uses in her brat campaign. the internet is also starting to use a coconut tree as a symbol for kamala harris. it's apparently a nod to a now viral moment from a may 2023 speech in which the vice president was talking about advancing hispanic opportunities and joke to that her mother used to ask young people about falling out of a coconut tree. >> i don't know what's wrong with you young people. you think you just fell out of a coconut tree?

8:43 pm
i think she will do well. i really do think the republicans are bite -- fighting their tongues saying oh my god i wish it was joe biden. >> trace: i don't know, it's one of those things were you look at this like why are they embracing that? i know they want to go after gen z but they are going after donald trump, embracing stuff like this. is it part and parcel because they don't have much to run on? >> they have nothing to run on and when you look at donald trump who just finished playing 18 holes with bryson dechambeau, i will take bryson and kamala harris can keep the brat. one thing about this whole brat thing, is it brat when you try to by your first home and interest rates are at 8%? it's not brat, it's ridiculous. when you think you are taking an advil or some other pill but it's actually laced with fentanyl, the same fentanyl that's coming through kamala harris is open border, that is not brat, that is going to kill you. so the stupid phenomena of brat is ridiculous and it also shows
