>> greg: out of time. thank you to our guests and studio audience. i love you, america. trace gallagher is next. [ cheering and applause >> trace: good evening, i'm trace gallagher. 11:00 pm on the east coast, 8:00
8:01 pm
in locket -- 8:00 in los angeles and this is america's late news, "fox news @ night". breaking tonight, builders on oval office speech that tell americans why he dropped out of the race and yet failed to tell americans why he dropped out of the race. president biden addressing the nation but not offering an explanation. and israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu delivering a joint address to congress but noticeably absent, dozens of congressional democrats and even the vice president herself. meantime anti-israel protests exploding outside the capital, demonstrators burning american flags outside union station and replacing them with palestinian flags. and breaking right now, speaker johnson and republicans taking it upon themselves tonight to reinstall the american flags themselves. but a different form of demonstration brewing inside the capital today as michigan democrat was holding this sign.
8:02 pm
and kamala harris third official day on the campaign trail as her progressive agenda becomes more clear. but what is unclear is exactly who wants her as the nominee. even black lives matter to now thing that democrats quick coronation. but we begin with president biden addressing the nation on his a sudden exit from the presidential race. senior white house correspondent peter doocy live at the white house with more. >> reporter: good evening, we are told the vice president and heir apparent to the democratic ticket kamala harris watched president biden's addresses evening from houston in between campaign events. that is where she, with the rest of us, heard president biden say he's stepping aside to save democracy. >> nothing, nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy. that includes personal ambition. there is a time and a place for long years of experience in
8:03 pm
public life but also a time and a place for new voices, fresh voices. yes, younger voices. that time and place is now. >> reporter: the presidents to do list for the next six months is long. he claims that in that time he can lower costs, grow the economy, call okay, protect kids from gun violence, and the war in gaza and reform the supreme court. biden family members crowded the oval office to watch this beginning of a long farewell and doctor jill biden posted a statement right after that reads a lot like a brush back to all the democrats who betrayed the biden's leading up to this moment. it says, to those who never wavered, to those who refused to doubt, to those who always believed, my heart is full of gratitude. thank you for the trust you put in joe, now time to put that trust and harris mac. the white house all day long teased they were's remarks as historic and not political but they were kind of political. >> i made my views known. i want to thank our great vice
8:04 pm
president kamala harris. she's experienced, tough and capable. history is in your hands. the power is in your hands. the idea of america lies in your hands. >> reporter: just after president biden got up from the resolute desk to walk out of the oval office we heard a sudden burst of cheering and applause coming from the rose garden, that is where hundreds of biden white house staffers had gathered to cheer him on. it's the first time they've all been together in a setting like that since they found out their lives had been totally upended on sunday. trace. >> trace: live at the white house, peter doocy, thank you. let's bring in richard fowler, jason chaffetz and kaylee mcghee. biden says the best way forward is to pass the torch. we talked about saving democracy, moving on to younger people but he did not give a reason why he dropped out of the
8:05 pm
race so suddenly. does he owe us a reason or are we reading too much into it? >> yeah, what changed between now and a week ago or two weeks ago. i think it was the reality that trump was running laps around him, was ahead and all of the battleground states. their message wasn't resonating. he wasn't up to the job. he did not have the energy to do it. if he wanted to pass the baton and try to plot himself like he was, you know, abraham lincoln or better yet george washington, he should have done this last year. to do it july, you know, literally less than a month before their convention, he was pushed out, shoved out by other people in the party. >> trace: the liberal media meantime called it handed and heroic. does he not have to give a reason, what did you think of the speech? >> i thought it was heartfelt. i thought what we saw from the
8:06 pm
president is something that history will note as historic. i also thought about harking back to history, 1968. it was on a couple months earlier in march but also for a similar reason, thinking about running for reelection and then saw a vietnam war that saw him being unpopular in america. i think this president too, after his debate performance, he saw a party that was fractured and said maybe i'm not the candidate who can lead the country forward, maybe not a candidate who can lead the party forward. a very split party and maybe not the person to lead it forward. what we are seeing now is a party that is united now more than ever. >> trace: the honeymoon period [ simultaneous talking ] >> trace: i would point out that it's great, it's a honeymoon period, maybe they are united but the president of the united states dropped out suddenly, he said he was in and then dropped out and nobody has a reason why. here's peter doocy going back
8:07 pm
and forth today. >> it would seam people in the white house new that president biden was slipping and it was hidden from the american people. so who ordered white house officials to cover up a declining president? >> it is not a cover-up. i know that is the narrative you all want. >> trace: but they did cover it up. they covered it up for a long time and we now know that and so did the media. >> and that's the problem with lying about biden's state for the past several years is that now no one believes you when you say he voluntarily dropped out. i will just say biden's excuse that he's doing this for the sake of democracy, i don't buy it for a second. say what you will about president trump but he had to compete against other candidates and win a primary in order to win his nomination. the past three democratic candidates can say the same. hillary clinton was chlorinated, joe biden won because the
8:08 pm
democratic leadership pressured every other candidate to drop out. same thing is happening now with call harris. she's being handed this without earning a single primary votes to serve as a presidential candidate. this is a massive problem and i'm sure richard will give us the reasons why this is a great thing for the political atmosphere adjusted met you want and all the karki. >> you are missing a candidate. you said two, is going to do the math for you. >> trace: meantime, all you can do is shake your head, no one at the white house has credibility when it comes to joe biden's health. everyone in the press offers, they covered up the president's frailties and hit the truth, a scandal. he was in the white house, he knows how the whole thing works so he must have some idea. >> everybody saw it. i think one of the biggest political questions is going to be how did they convince joe biden to do that debate, the
8:09 pm
earliest in the history of debates? i think there were a lot of people who knew they would fail, they set him up for failure. they stabbed him in the back and pushed him out. that's just the way it went down >> trace: yeah. peter baker said this in the new york times, mister biden returned to a vastly different presidency. he's now that creature most dreaded in the oval office, a lame-duck, a commander-in-chief on the way out who's being challenged to assert his relevance even as the world moves on. a lame-duck in poor health, richard. >> i don't know if i would characterize it that way. i thought we saw two weeks ago is a president who's in command of world leaders, in command of trying to solve the problems in ukraine and let's also remember that as this is happening, his vice president is running for president and he will be very instrumental for her as she works on winning over the democratic party and also talking to american voters. i think the idea that you won't see joe biden campaign in pennsylvania where he will be
8:10 pm
very popular, if you don't seize grandin joe in scranton, i think that would be a big mistake. >> trace: really it's going to be a dicey six months because there have been no answers and nobody really trusts anything the white house says anymore. >> right. i don't think kamala if she were smart would want joe on the campaign trail with her because the fact is you have a uniquely unpopular incumbent right now and then you have a uniquely very unpopular vice president who's now vying for the democratic nomination. neither of the two candidates are popular among the american electorate, both will have difficult challenges in the next several months. >> trace: they may. thank you all. the kid with the stutter did good. a good man. fell on his sword. fell on his sword. most heroes, they fight until the bitter end. he fell on his sword. he's an old guy.
8:11 pm
but the heart is still there. >> trace: as usual the mainstream media loved what president biden had to say tonight but there was something very big missing a little bit? let's bring in the host of's tackle back tonight, erick stakelbeck, and the host of a home that heals podcast, dee sarton, thank you for coming on. i want to play the liberal media montage on biden speech. here's what they thought. >> elegant speech, an emotional and moving moment for this president and i think timelessly for the presidency. this is sort of a temple in terms of what patriotism and selfless service looks like. >> we did not say he was stepping aside because he decided it was time, he said he was stepping aside to unify the party. that is the president. >> drops out, no reason, totally fine.
8:12 pm
>> number 1, it was vague, number 2, evasive and number 3, he's talking repeatedly about saving democracy yet he was just a victim of a democrat coup and pushed. he did not want to leave, he was pushed out of running for reelection once again but he did not answer the key question, why are you doing this, why are you stepping aside and what makes us think or believe that you are able to serve the next six months as commander-in-chief, that you are fit to serve if you can't run for reelection. how can you remain in office for the next half of the year? i think the 25th amendment is in play but he had a great spray tan. >> trace: a little bit of honesty would be great. i want to play the soundbite from dana perino right after the president spoke. i thought it was pretty spot on. i'm going to see what you think. watch. >> people really wanted to know what just happened in the last three weeks, but this speech was like a mini state of the union, something he could have given in
8:13 pm
january of 2025. it rang hollow for me, it did not answer those questions and i don't think it helps kamala harris as she tries to make some sort of a break with him. >> trace: i mean biggest political speech of his life, he's dropping out. he's been there 50 years and we got very little substance. what did you think? >> i thought so too. i heard dana say that. she prefaced that by saying she wanted to like this speech. i feel like in some ways i'm a little jaded and a little skeptical and so as i listened, and i listened for those key things, why and how, how does this change happen so fast? and the american people did not get those answers. when you are left without those answers, you are left being skeptical and distrusting and that's the last thing we need in this country. >> trace: especially when there's been so much dishonesty for so long, you want a little bit of credibility thrown in. james carville had this morning on msnbc. watch.
8:14 pm
>> a real change in mood in the party and around the country but we have to be a little careful. too much tribalism going on. it'll be a difficult race, it will be very close and i understand that people are feeling better and are excited but that excitement has to be tempered with realism. the realism is, she has a tough campaign to run. >> trace: it's tempered because one, she has a tough campaign, two catches not a very good candidate historically and the honeymoon period will not last that long. >> it's going to be very tough. her record, another mainstream medium is trying to distance from the border czar label but joe biden himself is on the record saying she's in charge of the border. no wonder they want to distance or from that. an absolute disaster. the barbarians are just at the gates, they are inside the gates and she presided over it as the point person in the administration. i think it was symbolic that joe biden gave that speech, at the
8:15 pm
white house we had american flags being burnt, chaos that union station, symbolic of the past four years. >> trace: we will talk about that coming up but it's interesting because there's a lot of smoke and mirrors that are trying to build up kamala harris but once you get down to brass tacks, which is her record, it's going to be trouble. commonsense will deal with this in a bit but it will be trouble. >> i think so. i also think the president said it towards the end of his speech, she's experienced, tough capable. those are things i don't think we have seen displayed in the last three years plus and how they will get that message out. they will be smart about it and i think it will be interesting to see how they do it but it's going to be a tough sell i would think. >> trace: it will be a tough cell but gets underway so we shall find out. thank you both. meantime new biden -- body cam video helping investigators
8:16 pm
put together how crookes managed to fire off several shots in his attempted assassination of former president trump. bryan llenas is live in butler, pennsylvania tonight. >> reporter: tonight new body camera video shows beaver county emergency services unit officers running towards the shooter after the assassination attempt against former president trump. >> go, go. >> reporter: they officers try to figure out how to access the roof of the agr building from wear the shooter fired. >> a ladder right here. can we use this ladder? >> reporter: once up the ladder and on the roof, an apparent secret service agent is overheard. >> he was on the roof. >> reporter: and a trail of blood leads to the body of 20-year-old thomas crooks. and ar-15 style rifle is also seen laying next to him as well as shell casings. >> at least eight. one, two, three, four, five,
8:17 pm
six, seven, eight. >> reporter: those gunshots captured a new video from the horrifying day. [ screaming ] [ gunshots ] >> reporter: an officer begins to search crooks his body finding a cell phone and a transmitter. >> gray in color, five or 6 inches. >> reporter: officers responding, concerned about whether there is an active device. >> tell the fbi to hurry up. >> reporter: the fbi confirms accounts of pictures of crooks and his possessions being shared with the secret service before the shooting. >> this is the guy. >> yes. [ simultaneous talking ] >> reporter: these videos given to fox were exclusively obtained by a senator's office from the beaver county emergency services unit in compliance with congressional requests. according to testimony from fbi
8:18 pm
director, no one saw crooks with a weapon before he got on the rooftop. he had a collapsible stock on his gun which made it easier to hide. he flew a drone 200 yards away from the stage just two hours before the rally and they found two explosive devices that were "relatively crude" in his vehicle, another at his home with the ability to detonate remotely. >> trace: live for us in butler, thank you. let's bring in south carolina republican congresswoman. great to have you on the show. i want to play some more video because it's very compelling. it's 21 seconds and listen to the sound because this is a big part of the investigation. [ gunshots ] [ screaming ] [ bleep ] [ screaming ]
8:19 pm
>> trace: congresswoman, you heard the shots but the shots were several seconds after this. people knew what was happening, they saw the shooter, everybody seemed to know except for law enforcement and now we know the shooter sir bail the site with a drone for days. >> right. first of all i want to say this is just horrific for the nation and congress is investigating and looking into it and there will be a special task force delegated for that specifically. what we saw this week both in testimony is that there were photos taken, you heard that in one of the clips you showed earlier, one of the snipers on the rooftop talking about is this the guy we have pictures of. they took pictures of him, of crooks, 57 minutes before the first shot was fired. so for almost an hour. god bless the local law enforcement who were there and who protected those on the ground and protected donald
8:20 pm
trump. just amazing that no one else perished that day. >> trace: i thought it was stunning went the director was talking about his planning of this. listen to this. >> starting somewhere around july 6th or so, he became very focused on former president trump and this rally. on july 6th he did a google search for "how far away was always walled from kennedy." >> trace: seven days of planning this thing. what did you think of the director and his testimony? >> number 1, knowing that this was obviously premeditated and hearing that. the second thing was at least we got little bits and pieces and gleams of information today. we got nothing on monday from the former director of the secret service. but there is still a long way to go. both the senators have been
8:21 pm
putting out preliminary reports of their findings, some of which i used in the questioning of the director on monday. it's been very difficult to get any information of any agency. the secretary ought to come forward next an answer congressional questions. >> trace: i have to go but he also said he's increasingly concerned about foreign terrorists because of the southwest border which brings us right back to president biden and vice president kamala harris. fifteen seconds. >> the border czar kamala harris owns every bad decision of this administration. she owns it and we ought to be talking about it every day between now and november. >> trace: congresswoman, thank you for coming on. coming up, israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu's visit to capitol hill today met with violent protests and politics. with many democrats absent as he addressed members of congress, defending the war on hamas. and later in the nightcap, president biden giving us as we've been talking about zero explanation as to why he's stepping away from the presidential race.
8:22 pm
>> nothing, nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy. that includes personal ambition. i've decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. that's the best way to unite our nation. >> trace: so i guess after fighting and fighting and then dropping out, the reason was to unify the party and save democracy. what did you think of the speech, was it honest, heroic as the media claims, or should the president have given us a reason as to why he dropped out? let us know x and instagram @tracegallagher, we will read your responses coming up in the nightcap. address to congress today was met with protests in washington both inside and outside the capital. christina coleman is live with that story. good evening. >> reporter: good evening, trace. today thousands of anti-israel protesters who are upset over the war in gaza following hamas' ruthless attack on israel protested near the capital building, some of the protesters had no problem showing their anti-american sentiment either as they took down and burned u.s. flags and then replace them with palestinian flags outside union station. fox news reporter shouted down by some of the protesters, also managed to speak to a few. >> reporter: what message do you want to send? >> i don't have a message for you. free palestine. that's it. >> reporter: are you supporting hamas or no? >> i support the resistance. >> reporter: are you saying you support hamas? >> are you saying you support genocide? >> reporter: during his
8:29 pm
address to congress, netanyahu had this message for the protesters wreaking havoc on the streets. >> when the tyrants of tehran who hang gaze from cranes and murder women for not covering their hair are praising, promoting and funding you, you have officially become iran's useful idiots. >> reporter: some of the protesters also clashed with police. it's unclear how many of them were arrested. >> trace: thank you. we recognize that they blew palestinian flags today. it rages. they were pulled down. >> trace: speaker of the house at the steps of dc's union station minutes ago restoring the american flag after protesters flew the palestinian flag in it's place earlier today with us now, israel's consul general to the pacific southwest, israel bachar along with the start of netflix board-certified plastic surgeon and the co-author of stolen

youth, thank you for coming on. israel bachar, i want to know because i want to play some sound, this is benjamin netanyahu saying that americans are protecting you. watch this. >> when israel ask to prevent iran from developing nuclear weapons, nuclear weapons that could destroy israel and threaten every american city, every city that you come from, we are not only protecting ourselves, we are protecting you >> trace: easy right? >> one hundred% right. iran is challenging america in the middle east right now by supporting houthis, by supplying drones to russia and they are the ones who finance the encampments in the universities and try to create social unrest in america. that is according to the american intelligence reports. so america is challenged by iran
8:31 pm
and prime minister netanyahu stress this point not only today but for the last 45 years. >> trace: and we've known that, we've known that, and the prime minister came out today saying we need weapons and we need them faster. an effective plea? >> that's what i think. personally i think it was the biggest important message from the prime minister. he spoke about the present, not about the past, he said we need these weapons right now. we are going to do the job faster and better if we get these shipments to us faster. i think israel now is in a critical need of weapons, ammunition. and that was the number 1 point of prime minister netanyahu. >> trace: meantime, bethany mandel, i know you were at the protests. we will play a soundbite that's worth playing again. it's interesting. watch this.
8:32 pm
>> i have a mess -- message for these protesters. when the tyrants of tehran who hang gays from cranes and murder women for not covering their hair are praising, promoting and funding you, you have officially become iran's useful idiots. >> trace: what did you think of the protests today? you were there and saw it. >> i was actually inside and i want to thank the capitol police for keeping us safe because security was so tight. one other thing that the prime minister said that i thought was really apt was that these protesters are like chickens for kfc. he was exactly right. these protesters do not understand the existential threat to western civilization that we are facing from these folks and the number 1 target is women, is 2slgbtqi+ individuals and so if they care about these issues, they are siding with hamas is inexplicable.
8:33 pm
>> trace: it really is. griffin jenkins interviewed some protesters. watch this. >> reporter: are you saying you support hamas? >> are you saying you support genocide? what does hamas have to do with 20,000 babies and children massacred and butchered? >> trace: what does hamas have to do with it? everything to do with it. they have everything to do with this, dr, that's the point. >> every life lost in israel and in gaza and the west bank is all on hamas. i want to make a point to the capital police, to american politicians, to all americans, did we learn nothing from appeasing and tolerating the protests, these pro g how protesters on campuses? what did tolerance and appeasement lead to? escalation. hear my words today, if we continue to appease and tolerate these people, protesting and calling for jihadi and wearing the paraphernalia of terrorist
8:34 pm
organizations, this will escalate in our streets. >> trace: and you go back and you look at the squad today, bethany mandel, and here's what they had to say about netanyahu. >> this is why i refuse to remain silent. when putin commits war crimes we condemn him, when netanyahu contempt -- commits war crimes we give him excuses and bombs. >> we have invited benjamin netanyahu who's being charged with war crimes to address this house. are we a democracy for all? >> what have we as a nation done? supplying bombs that maim and murder babies. where is our humanity? >> trace: a lot of hate coming out of the house. >> yeah. it was fascinating, i was sitting right above rashida tlaib as she was holding up her sign and she sat there glumly looking at her phone the whole time. he's not just prime minister benjamin netanyahu, he's the leader of one of our greatest allies. it was incredible watching her sit glumly and angrily as he
8:35 pm
said things about protecting western civilization and making sure that we are land of the free and home of the brave forever and that we are natural allies. all of these things should be a given for anyone who sits as a member of congress. for her to be so angry and so bitter about those messages speaks volumes to who we have serving as numbers of congress. >> where do i start? i saw the funniest thing somebody said. she's holding up a sign and they wrote, everyone can self identify in america. >> trace: it's amazing. israel bachar, when you see this, you see the prime minister of your country is here, he's seeing this and seeing the response, what is your take away. if he was sitting here, what would you say? i don't know what to say. >> i think the prime minister of israel knows america very well. he live here and studied here.
8:36 pm
he understands america very well but he also understands the threat of those encampments and proterra supporters here in america. so he's really trying to talk to the american people, i understand the threat and you should take the threat seriously here at home in america. he made a clear point, this is a threat to american cities. >> trace: israel bachar, doctor sheila nazarian, bethany mandel, thank you all. coming up got the race for the white house now back at the starting line with kamala harris heading out on the campaign trail. this time as a presidential candidate. and donald trump switching gears to focus on his new opponents record. morgan ortagus and may mailman will join us live, next. effort to rebrand kamala harris, taking her from, willing cringe to hip and cool in record time. last week she gave democratic pond dense heartburn, this week she gives them chills. because if you haven't heard, kamala is obama and address. and we need to jump on the bandwagon lest we lose our democracy. but the rebranding does have a few hurdles to hop, the biggest being the border, a.k.a. the vps epic fail. but ask io's is golding else for calling harris the border czar, which is odd considering they called harris the border czar. washington post call and missed said it's disrespectful to call kamala kamala. apparently it should be harris or vp harris. strange considering ruben called kamala kamala. at least we know hypocrisy is still in season. commonsense was under the impression democracy dies in darkness but turns out dies in delaware where the knife was turned on biden and the kamala
8:43 pm
who was confirmed and democrats dared not descent because democrat descent will draw the media wrath and commonsense knows the medias rebranding memo by heart. it's as a democratic party is now unified and kamala is now cool. so cool in fact that chills can be expected. let's bring an independent women's law center director may mailman, former house oversight committee chairman fox news contributor jason chaffetz. welcome to you both. here's trump on kamala harris today. >> the fake news is talking about kamala as if she's the savior of our country. i've never seen a turnaround like this. three or four weeks ago she was the worst politician in america. now they say look at her, she's so beautiful, she's so magnificent. >> trace: i mean, he's right. in 48 hours she's become the taylor swift of politics.
8:44 pm
it's unbelievable to watch. >> it really is. this is the same media that wanted to get joe biden, all of a sudden after they debate they discovered he was senile and now they've discovered that kamala can put sentences together. but this isn't discovered, this is dishonest from the media and they feel that they have blood on their hands from letting donald trump beat hillary clinton, and they will not let it happen again. >> trace: it's amazing to me, and jason you are a political insiders oh i want to pose this to you, the new york post headline reads "obama does not believe kamala harris can beat trump, which is why he has not endorsed or." do you buy that? >> i think there's a lot of truth to that. i think the reason, the hesitation to push joe biden out the door is they were trying to figure out how to get around kamala harris but they couldn't. when you play identity politics and that's how you get your job, just want, then you are stuck because the democratic voters

figure this out, she was polling in her own state of california in eighth place. that's why she had to drop out, she was behind and was the sitting u.s. senator. voters figure these things out. >> trace: she single-handedly helped destroy california along the way while she was the attorney general of the state. elizabeth warren note says this about kamala harris. watch. >> vice president harris is one of the most qualified people to run in decades. when people see that, they are going to see the kamala harris that i've known for a long time and that is somewhat who's very principled, very unruffled. >> trace: in decades, are you kidding me with that? >> i guess she's more qualified than elizabeth warren, who i recall running for president as well.
