11:01 pm
at this hour, we are awaiting the return of three americans and one permanent resident. once held in captivity in russia, who will officially step well foot back in the united states on u.s. soil. tonight. we're going to get to my opening monologue in a minute. but first, joining us now with the very latest details of this prisoner exchange that resulted in the release of these four americans, our own jacqui heinrich is with us tonight. jacqui, what's the latest? well, sean, good evening. and about four excuse me, two hours from now, the president is going to be greeting four americans who were wrongfully detained in russia. 12 others are headed back to germany. and what has been the biggest prisoner swap with russia since the cold war? no money was exchanged, no sanctions were loosened in order to get this to happen. but russia got eight criminals in return, including notorious hit man vadim krasikov from a german prison. all of them received a hero's welcome from putin. the white house admits this deal involved tough calls. the toughest was
11:02 pm
krasikov and biden leaned on his relationship with the german chancellor to make it happen. the president touted the importance of alliances, diplomacy and friendship, and freeing these innocent detainees. but when he was asked for his message to countries that imprison americans as political pawns, biden instead warned americans not to travel to these hostile places. what he didn't convey was a price that countries will pay if they abduct americans for political purposes. this was a moment to thank our allies. it was a moment to celebrate the families. and as the president said, he doesn't need to talk to putin for putin to understand where the president stands still. this was a big victory for president biden, who called the slovenian prime minister to get this done just one hour before he dropped his reelection bid. today, the national security adviser took an inadvertent jab at vice president harris, saying that he didn't think this would have happened if joe biden was not in the oval office. but both biden and harris will be at the
11:03 pm
airport tonight to greet those americans when they get off the plane. sean. all right, jackie, thank you. if you were an msdnc conspiracy theorist, you'd be saying russia collusion and say it for three years. but i'm not dragging you into that, jackie. i'm glad our americans are going to be home tonight. state run media. the mob is trying to do their very best to manufacture enthusiasm for kamala harris. keep the honeymoon alive as long as they can. there are countless glowing articles about her so-called historic campaign. and for the record, i did call this the week after that debate in an article i put on foxnews.com hannity.com. i said if they ever replace joe, whoever they replace him with is going to be hailed as the second coming of jesus. so now we see dozens and dozens of adoring headlines about kamala harris. very predictable, always seem to pop up first in google's algorithm. big tech in the pocket of the liberal democratic establishment. once again. but what you won't see is any hard hitting interviews.
11:04 pm
none. or press conferences. since being coronated, kamala has refused to answer any questions at all. none. zero. in fact, she didn't even show up to the national association of black journalists convention that was going on in chicago, where president trump got a lot of tough questions, facing off with some left wing reporters yesterday during a lengthy q&a. and by the way, this isn't you know, new in the last three plus years as vice president kamala harris get this, she's only participated in about 20 interviews with major outlets over the course of four years, zero interviews with fox news. so what is kamala harris hiding from her adoring fans in the state run media mob? why does the media mob seem perfectly content sitting on the sidelines like they did in 2020? they had no problem with joe hiding out in his basement the whole campaign, no interviews with a major party candidate? none. i'll give you the answer now. first, like joe
11:05 pm
biden, kamala doesn't go off script very well. her answers are confusing and filled with nervous, seemingly uncontrollable giggling. she is a massive liability to the current administration in her own campaign. wait. watch. be patient. you'll see. it'll all unfold. and that's not all. both kamala and her fans in the media, well, they are worried about what are the serious questions that she could and should and frankly, must be asked by any self-respecting, quote, journalist. they claim to be journalists. they're liberal talk show hosts for example, what did she know about joe biden's cognitive decline? and when did she know it? they were together over 80 times in the last year alone. she didn't notice anything. so what made joe biden finally decide to drop out of the race? was he pressured by democratic elites and bypassing the people that voted in democratic primaries and disenfranchizing them? did kamala play a role in deposing joe? well interesting
11:06 pm
question, isn't it? is she still proud about her leading role in the disastrous afghan withdrawal? and what about the series of endless flipping and flopping and flailing in just the last week? i'm pretty much everything. take a look at your screen this instagram post of the reverend franklin graham kind of perfectly encapsulates the harris campaign. now the fox is telling the sheep, quote, once elected, i'll be a vegetarian. now this is called an election year conversion. we're getting like 1 or 2 a day. and that's where a dishonest fake politician that wants power, that is highly ambitious will say and do anything to get elected. but if her positions have truly changed, then she owes you some answers. why does she no longer support her mandatory federal gun buyback? ostensibly gun confiscation? why does she no longer support medicare for all? her plan that she co-sponsored in the senate that would eliminate all private health insurance? why does she
11:07 pm
no longer support government guaranteed jobs? that was a big part of the new green deal that, again, she co-sponsored in the us senate, where, as senator kennedy said to our friend and colleague neil cavuto, kamala is aoc without the bartending experience. so why does kamala no longer support a ban on fracking? something she proclaimed many, many, many times? why does she no longer support defunding the police and directing funds away from police department? why is she no longer tweeting out the bail fund? after the minneapolis police precinct was burned to the ground? and, kamala, are you still against deporting illegal immigrants? take a look. i will say no. absolutely not. they should not be deported. and i actually, this was one of the very few issues with which i disagreed with the administration. i was attorney general of california. i led the second largest department of justice in the united states, second only to the united states department of
11:08 pm
justice in a state of 40 million people. and on this issue, i disagreed with my president because the policy was to allow deportation of people who, by isis own definition, were non-criminals. so as attorney general and the chief law officer of the state of california, i issued a directive to the sheriffs of my state that they did not have to comply with detainers, and instead should make decisions based on the best interests of public safety of their community. the border with your border czar is an unmitigated disaster. so why does kamala still support sanctuary cities and states? why won't she say people that enter our country illegally are criminals? why is kamala forcing you? the american people already strapped by her and joe biden's record high inflation to pay for illegal immigrants and their health care and their education and their housing? and the most important question, kamala, what do you say to all of the families, all of the families who loved ones
11:09 pm
were murdered, those that had family members raped, other victims of other crimes committed by the nearly 11 million unvetted illegal immigrants that you and joe led into this country. what do you say to them? when will you apologize to them? how do you ever answer the question about how you have allowed all of these people, from nearly 180 countries into our country with the promise of free health care and education and housing people from countries that have terror ties, countries that are our top geopolitical foes. you would think that someone in the media mob might be a little curious and want answers from the border czar. as a matter of fact, you would think that an honest press would want all of you, the american people, to get an honest explanation for all of kamala's flipping and flopping and flailing. but nope. silence from fake news, cnn, abc, nbc, cbs, msdnc. instead, they would rather ask
11:10 pm
senator tom cotton negative questions about donald trump. watch this. how does her changing her views on her policy justify having the presumptive the republican nominee questioning her race? how does that does that increase or decrease your party's chances of winning in november? well well, caitlyn, you haven't had that conversation with kamala harris because she's been hiding out. i want to have this conversation with you. senator joe biden hid out before her. i'm and my point is, when are you and the rest of the media going to demand that kamala harris come out and answer questions in an unscripted format about where she stands for this country as opposed to continuing to focus on what donald trump said today? perfect answer, senator cotton. great job. he's right. kamala has enjoyed a free pass for years, but she's now running for the presidency of the united states of america will be nominated to the dnc without winning a single primary vote. no problem. talk about democracy in peril. every disenfranchize democratic
11:11 pm
primary voter, they don't care about you. so it might be nice if kamala can summon the courage to tell voters about all of the radical things she has said in her own words, without reading a teleprompter. the state run media mob is a corrupt institution. i said in 2007 and eight, journalism is dead. they are nothing but a political extension of all things leftists, radical democrats, state run media, modern day pravda. but shouldn't we at least expect the bare minimum from a major party candidate? don't we deserve that? maybe she could even try to appear on fox news if she's capable of serving as president. surely she's capable of taking a few questions from from bret and martha, who are great at their job on this network and meanwhile, the speculation is now growing over who kamala harris will select as a running mate. now, according to reports, it's down to senator mark kelly from arizona and pennsylvania governor josh shapiro, who just canceled all of his scheduled
11:12 pm
events to fundraise in new york and the hamptons this weekend. now, shapiro is a deeply controversial pick for the democratic party. now, sadly, the party's far left anti-semitic base. they don't like governor shapiro for all the wrong reasons. and as michael moore warned, this pick could be disastrous for them in 2024. take a look, vice president harris appoints josh shapiro as her vice presidential candidate, and this 2nd may result in losing michigan. shapiro said that it's, quote, anti-semitic for anyone to join the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against israel in order to convince them to stop their apartheid behavior. he is also cruelly compared the peaceful college students to the ku klux klan because they were calling for an end to the slaughter in gaza. actions like these will diminish the arab american vote for harris and depress a large swath of the
11:13 pm
youth vote throughout the country. now, despite all the glowing coverage of kamala harris, the democrats, they have a real problem. their party is deeply fractured and extreme, and kamala, she's not capable of bringing them together in fact, she couldn't even unite her own staff. the turnover rate a whopping 90%, with a work environment that was described as extremely toxic. and the administration she helped lead was among the most divisive in american history. when the protective state run media bubble is finally punctured and kamala is forced to answer tough questions, it's likely not going to go well. she's no barack obama and she's no bill clinton, and she served side by side with the president even worse than jimmy carter. she owns that record. and in the coming weeks, we will do our their job and our job, hold her feet to the fire, demand answers, and we'll do the same for whoever she chooses to be her running mate. anyway, joining us now, fox news contributor charlie hurt, the co-host of the five, harold
11:14 pm
ford jr. harold i know on the five and maybe i'll play it in a little bit here. i know you guys have played the john kerry flip flop ad. there's been a lot of flipping and flopping and flailing, but that's not my biggest complaint. can you explain why she since the time she has been coronated here, she's not answering any questions. and don't you think her record you're you are fairly moderate democrat. do you not see a lot of radicalism here? well good evening. thanks for having me, man. i think a couple of things, if i were in in president trump's shoes this evening, i would have probably accepted a debate and be demanding that martha and brett take us right away as a, as a, as a duo, meaning her and him and vice president harris, because i think there are a lot of questions that she's going to have to answer. i don't say that critically or i say it constructively. i think it's positive when politicians are able to present be presented
11:15 pm
with new facts and circumstances and developments and maybe have or reach a different conclusion about something, but ultimately, when you do that in a political setting, voters are the ultimate arbiters because they are the ones that will decide whether or not you're being honest or authentic or genuine in how you have changed. you raise a lot of things in that monologue, and i happen to agree with some of the premise of what you raised, but i would, i would, i would fault a little bit more, sean, if i were you, president trump, for not saying, let's do this right now. here are my answers to these problems. here are my answers to these challenges. and i've been more consistent. and i want to hear vice president harris share her views and why this transformation on some of the issues of these issues, why she has pursued this, these, these issues in the ways that she has. so until they debate, i think a lot of this, a lot of the questions you rightly raised will be ones that will persist. but when they debate, and i hope they do it soon and i hope they do it often, we'll
11:16 pm
get a real sense as a nation where president trump stands. and equally important, based on your monologue, how and why vice president harris has changed a bit or apparently has had some different thoughts about very, very important issues? well, i actually completely agree with you. and however, the first debate was completely on joe biden and fake news, cnn's terms, i think they should agree on the venue. they should agree on the moderators. they should agree on the rules like the, you know, commission on presidential debates has, you know, historically provided both sides. that didn't happen in the last debate. i would say that should be a criteria. charlie, let's get your your take on it. but my big takeaway is the media, i don't think is going to ask these questions. i mean, if harold is right and we need a debate and donald trump has to do their job, how does she get away with that? it's
11:17 pm
kind of like joe hiding in his basement in 2020. oh, i think it's exactly like that. we have seen already how hard the media, the leftist media is willing to work on behalf of kamala harris's campaign. they're going to do absolutely everything that the campaign needs, including sort of leaking out all of these stories about how she's changed her position on all these hot topics, whether it's fracking or her love of open borders or her wanting to taxpayers to pay for sex change operations for prison inmates. she's she's sort of snuck all these things out into the press and the press, even though they are completely compliant and supporting her. and of course, run with these stories and try to burnish her image for whatever reason, she's still afraid to actually sit down with anybody in the leftist press and have a basic interview where, as harold points out, she could maybe
11:18 pm
explain how she decided to change all of her views on these important issues. but i think that even if they do figure out the details of a of a debate, if it's not done by brett and martha, and i think it should be, i think you're going to wind up, you know, another one of these situations where donald trump walks in and it's just like the event that he went to yesterday, it's going to be him versus the world, and he's going to have to be his own. you know, correction machine for the for the left wing press that's going to try to keep it from being about the issues. you know harold, i'm scrolling her radical positions and you know, when she co-sponsored the medicare for all bill, that would also include free health care, education for illegal immigrants. she co-sponsored it, and it would eliminate private health care when she sponsored the green new deal, she was proud of it. but now
11:19 pm
they're trying to back off the guaranteed job side of it, she said many times, no fracking, no drilling, she has no restrictions on abortion. we know that. i would argue she surrendered in the war on terror by not supporting israel and their offensive efforts against iran. the mandatory gun confiscation issue is real. she said it. we have it on tape. she supports a 70 to 80% tax rate on immigration. she's been an unmitigated disaster. she supports defund, dismantle, no bail laws and of course, the you know, the bail fund in minneapolis. these are not these are extreme radical positions. have you ever seen any president running for office that has held positions this far to the left? well, i think some of those positions are ones that i disagree with and some are ones that i find some agreement with. but my
11:20 pm
larger point, i think, is the one that we're all three trying to make. i think we need to see the two of them with, with with brett and martha and, and others in different formats to ask these questions, i would remind everybody that, you know, there was the new york times that really first started exploring, exposing some of the different kind of positions that vice president harris is taking on. some of these things. and i'm one sean who firmly believes that when presented with new ideas and facts, one should be able to change their minds. when you work for a big organization or you're the leader of an organization, you hope that the leaders in an organization can do those things. i don't i don't say this flippantly or cavalierly or even politically, but even the president trump's vice presidential nominee had things to say about president trump a few years ago, and he changed. and look, and i believe that he changed. i think it's credible and i think can change. we have to give people space to do that. but the but here's where we are.
11:21 pm
it's only since you became the presidential nominee that she went back on fracking and medicare for all. and eliminating health insurance and mandatory gun buyback. it's only been the last two weeks. that sounds to me maybe i'm too cynical. like an election year conversion. i'll give we'll give it. so, sean, i think that's a question. but that's a question that she should be asked. and i think you're raising one of the right questions when did you come to this conclusion? was it before you got you knew you were going to be the nominee of the party? had you been thinking about this over the last few years? and if you had been, why didn't you say it earlier? i think these are all legitimate in the right questions to ask. i vote if martha and brett are busy. harold, you and i can co-host the debate. i'm volunteering. i'm sure kamala will agree to that. but charlie, with us. charlie with charlie. real quick. i'll hold. i'll hold the clock for you. yeah, well, she's got a lot of answering to do, no doubt about it. all right. thank you both. when we

11:37 pm
you see, the lights are already ready to go. and we continue to await the arrival of the three americans and the green card holder. as you know, this is the culmination of painstaking negotiations between the biden administration and our partners around the globe, most notably slovenia, and as well as germany. they had some russian prisoners. and so to collectively come together in an effort to bring home these americans who have been in captivity, some of them for many, many years, of course, paul whelan, more than five years, going on six years. and of course, evan gershkovich of the wall street journal. we will be here. we expect they will have an opportunity to see the commander in chief and maybe even the vice president as well, their families. and then we'll figure out if all that happens or doesn't happen. we're all here. we're waiting and watching. we'll see if anything like that does happen. but i can tell you this for a fact. we know that once they make their way here, they will eventually make their way over to texas, over to san antonio, if i'm not mistaken. they'll have a chance to be medically
11:38 pm
evaluated. and we'll see how that all goes. that's typically how these things have worked in the past. i've covered quite a few of these over the many years i've been in washington, and it never gets old, my friend. it's a great night for america, and i'm sure for the families in particular. back to you. well, i'm very happy for the families. i'm very happy to have our americans back on on our home soil. kevin corke, always good to see you. thank you sir. yeah. all right. it's part of this exchange. vladimir putin prioritized the release of this guy vadim krasikov now. but exactly why remains unclear now. krasikov was imprisoned in germany for the 2019 murder of a georgian citizen who had fought against russian troops in chechnya before claiming asylum in germany and while the kremlin has denied any involvement with the murder, the german court determined that krasikov acted on behalf of russian authorities, who gave him the resources to carry out the attack. meanwhile, the biden-harris administration's latest show of weakness, it was announced yesterday that three,
11:39 pm
911 defendants struck a plea deal with the government. now this is a disgrace, an insult to the victims of 911 and their families who have been patiently waiting for true justice. this deal includes the alleged mastermind of 9/11, khalid sheikh mohammed. but after facing harsh criticism, well, the white house is now trying to claim they actually played no role at all whatsoever in the plea deal. and the democrats presidential candidate has said, we need the courage to stop saying the words radical islamic terrorism and illegal alien. is this just another one of their attempts to rewrite history? anyway, here with reaction tonight, former secretary of state and fox news contributor our friend mike pompeo is back. i'm not going to hide my happiness, mr. secretary, i'm glad that evan gershkovich and paul whelan are home and these other hostages are home. but i also saw vladimir putin embrace this
11:40 pm
convicted murderer when and greeted them on the tarmac when they arrived in moscow earlier today. and i'm very happy. please don't don't misunderstand my question. what worries me is that if you make a deal to get hostages, you're creating an environment where there's going to be more hostage taking. am i wrong on that? no, sean, you have both parts of that right? it will be joyous tonight at joint base andrews. i remember i'd been the secretary of state for just a couple of weeks when we brought three americans home from north korea who'd been held in pyongyang. there's no more joyous moment than reuniting those folks with their families. and i am thrilled for those folks who are coming home. but what you can see now is the biden administration has done it wrong. when we brought those north koreans home, we didn't pay a penny. we used true american power. what they've now done is they've exchanged innocence. a wall street journal journalist, another another innocent businessman in
11:41 pm
moscow, and they've traded them for a terrorist who committed murder on german soil. that extortion racket will only increase. we've now created a market price. and, sean, you don't need to guess whether i'm right about this. the united states paid $6 billion to get 4 or 5 hostages home from iran. good. good for getting them home. but there are more iranians held today. or, excuse me, more americans held today by the iranians in gaza. you just push this problem down. the road. and so well, tonight we'll be wonderful. and a blessing to those families. the risk is that there will be more families of more innocent americans who are traveling all over the world, who one day are held hostage, and they spend years in captivity as well. that's the risk. that's the danger. mr. secretary, let me ask you about the other issue. we discussed that the administration claims to have no part of the new york post headline today, atrocity of justice nine over 11 mastermind spared death penalty in shocking plea deal. and it says at the very bottom, i'll hold it up for our audience. he
11:42 pm
deserves hell, which i agree with. now i think this is a grave injustice to the families that have patiently been waiting for real justice, for the death of their loved ones, not the not only the 200 and 902,977 killed on nine over 11, but also the thousands of others that were killed from very real 911 related illnesses cases, they make a plea deal with him, but then they deny having any role in that. do you believe that? is that possible? first of all, it's implausible. second, i don't know which is worse, that you had no role in it. that is, you have an administration that's completely out of control, or you did have a role in it, and you made the terrible decision. and for those who are too young to remember 20 some years ago, i'm still angry about nine over 11 when i think about the fact that they killed 3000 innocents in new york in a single moment and inflicted terror on the united states of america and the mastermind, khalid sheikh mohammed, a radical islamic
11:43 pm
terrorist. whether vice president harris wants to describe it that way or not, a radical islamic terrorist brought hell to new york city and the american economy, and they cut a plea deal with him, denying the families the very basic idea of justice being imposed on these horrible criminals who did so much destruction. i can't believe that they did that. i can't believe that they actually cut this deal. and whether president biden claims he knew about it or not, he's the commander in chief. he's in charge, and he is responsible for this disgraceful action. let me ask you one other important question, because i could not believe after iran attacked israel and israel had to retaliate alone because joe biden and kamala harris, in my view, they surrendered in the war against radical islamic terrorism. kamala harris i played the tape over and over, she said. we should have the courage not to use that word or the word illegal alien. but the fact that we abandoned our all, now we have a situation where they took out the leader of hamas that was inside of iran.
11:44 pm
what shocked me the most, even without our help, when they did retaliate alone because america. well, joe and kamala abandoned israel. they got deep into iranian territory. i didn't think they'd have that capability. that tells me they have the ability to take out their refineries and their nuclear sites, with or without our help. i don't know, i'm just a harmless little talk show host, observer, am i reading that right? well, sean, you've captured the difference quite clearly. the israelis are killing terrorists, and we're coddling them, cutting plea deals with them. trading terrorists for innocent americans. right. the juxtaposition between the israelis tried to deter threats against them. and the way the biden administration has made america weak on the global stage is very real. we also have seen that the israelis are very capable. they have the ability to reach into tehran in the same way, frankly, that the trump administration did. when we took out al qaida's number
11:45 pm
two in tehran, the iranian leadership should be deeply aware of the israeli capability and what i wish they could also know is that the united states will support israel's efforts, whatever that may be, to defend themselves and, frankly, to defend the united states and the gulf arab states from this threat from radical islamic terrorism that is emanating from tehran. all across, whether it's in syria or gaza or from lebanon and hezbollah. this is a real challenge. and the united states cannot sit on the sidelines or worse, claim that these are morally willing. on the oppositions between hamas and the united states. they said to israel, you're on your own. they've been pressuring israel after they lost the equivalent of 40,000 israelis. what would have been 40,000 americans in a day to show restraint, show restraint. i don't i don't know if the iranian missile would have hit that soccer field and killed those kids had they been fighting this war the way it needed to be fought, and that is to win it and win it quickly. as donald trump says. so i guess once again, you
11:46 pm
know, if kamala harris says you can't use the term radical islamic terrorism, why would you have any confidence they would ever support israel in defending themselves and offensively, winning a war? sean, you're right. it's unconscionable. and not only do i not have any confidence, but sadly, hamas and hezbollah and the iranian leadership, they think america will bail on this as well and won't support our ally. and you can be sure, sean, others are watching as well. the folks in taiwan, the folks in china, all the bad guys, all our allies are watching how we behave as well. and the risk is enormously high in these next 4 or 5 months, sean. and under their watch, iran got rich. they turned a blind eye to the sanctions. they gave waivers on sanctions they were willing to pay. six, you know what billion dollars for, for hostages? it's unreal. to iran, the mullahs, the number one state sponsor of terror. mr. secretary, good to see you. thank you. when we come back, you're not going to believe what the left, the liberals, the marxists and san
