>> trace: good evening it's 11:00 pm on the east coast, 8:00 here in los angeles and this is america's late news. fox news at night. >> what are we doing right now? she's not doing any news conference speed to the media are former president trump missing in action despite the fact that he stood before them for an hour answering questions and when reporters finally got the chance to ask kamala harris a few questions, guess who they asked about? >> president trump had a press conference today,... >> trace: trump trump trump. is the media not curious about the vp and where she's been for the past three weeks? donald trump also announcing he's agreed to debate harris not once, twice but three times and she said she with ink about it. >> are you open to more debates? >> i'm happy to have the conversation about an additional
8:02 pm
debate after september 10th for sure. >> trace: she's in for september 10 on abc but skipped right past the fox news debate although she did say it with a joyous vibe speaking of joy, democrats and the media trying out a new talking point. >> thank you for bringing back the joy. >> the joy felt by americans back in the ticket. >> hour next president brings the joy. she emanates the joy. >> can do it with joy and optimism. >> trace: i guess trump and jd vance are too dark but harris is the depiction of joy because running the country is all about joy, all about vibes. the senior national correspondent kevin corke is live with more on the joy of debating. >> you really set me up with that lead-in, good evening trace. it wasn't all about doom and gloom, more joy from president trump today. he offered a clear eyed and a
8:03 pm
sober assessment of the state of the nation as he sees it. suggesting today that unless the biden harris administration is ushered out of power in 90 days, our country is in big trouble. >> i think that our country is right now in the most dangerous position it's ever been in from an economic standpoint, from a safety standpoint. both gangs on the street and gangs outside of our country in the form of other countries that are frankly very powerful. most dangerous period of time i've ever seen for our country. we have a vice president who is the least admired it, respected and the worst vice president in the history of our country. the most unpopular vice president. >> trace: >> the former spread -- former president's have been in sharp contrast to the 2024 election
8:04 pm
counterpart, the vp kamala harris despite numerous high energy events had yet to take a question from her -- a reporter since assuming president biden's delegates and her parties to fact own nomination despite not actually receiving a single vote that is until today when the vice president finally broke her silence and as trace pointed out she agreed to have at least one debate with the former president , she would consider others and she added she hoped to set up a sitdown interview by months and p. are for his part the former president continues to prepare for three debates including one here on fox. only time will tell if the vp will show up. >> as far as the interviews, we have a slot open every night. >> any time. >> trace: kevin thank you. the commonsense department
8:05 pm
is pretty sure the harris walz campaign is the first campaign to ever encourage people to vote the vibe. he's the midwestern dad vibe, and they are that tiktok vibe. together they attract young people who vote the vibe. it's the new america, the old america circa june 22 any forward vote on things like policies and the candidates record but for that harris walz campaign that's impossible because nobody knows their policies. kamala won't talk about them and the campaign website is apparently a policy free zone. turns out those pesky policies tend to ruin the vibe. so now team harris and their media allies are telling us the campaign is also filled with joy they are even hiring social media influencers to manufacture more joy. nevermind solutions, keep bringing up the joy which is baffling because most americans don't feel all that joyous. they feel underfunded, vulnerable, forgotten they feel
8:06 pm
like they've been lied to because they have been lied to. the economy is great, joe biden's healthy, the border security, your kids are being educated and only the joy kills are saying otherwise. common sense thinks america will soon stop buying what the ticket is selling, not because of the vibe of mind you, but because they don't have anybody. let's bring in former press secretary... thank you both for coming on up your khem birch you first, trump said this about debating kamala harris. >> the other side has to agree to the terms. they may or may not agree. i don't know if they are going to agree or she hasn't done an interview. she can't do an interview, she's barely competent and she can't do an interview but i look forward to the debates because i think we have to set the record straight. >> trace: he's open to all the debates, she has picked one.
8:07 pm
then she will discuss may be more of those. hard to defend that going forward right? >> exactly, especially after she previously said that trump was weak and backing out of the debates because he was scared of her. i think there's been an underreported reason as to why kamala might have chosen abc as the only debate that she's willing to do. obviously we saw how one reporter treated former president donald trump with pure hostility during that event that took place last week. we also know that kamala harris has a 30 year friendship with dana walden who is the cochair of disney entertainment which oversees abc news. that is part of her portfolio. kamala harris credits dana with being someone who helps her get married. so the idea that this would be an editorially fair debate when her friend is in the top position overseeing abc news is ridiculous. >> trace: it really is.
8:08 pm
kamala harris was also just might also ask about during an interview which she has not done in 18 days. >> trace: that's 20 plus days. it means that she is not about to screw up the dnc and do an interview beforehand. fair? >> i think kamala harris at least understands that assignment which is say less. we've got this vibes campaign, this momentum going and she will ruin it for them and for brett summer as she doesn't -- does an interview because then she would have to talk about if it was with amber she would have to talk about the record and the failure of the crash she would have to talk about all of the joy listen is that americans are
8:09 pm
feeling an answer for that or she would just say one of her typical word salads and everybody would go back to scratching their heads and wondering how she got this in the first place. >> trace: they said this, watch. >> if there's anything we know has popped her bubble in the past it's scrutiny. it's making her be herself. it seeing her speak off of a teleprompter and, if she's hiding anything, she's hiding everything and that shows a flawed, week candidate. >> trace: sunlight is not good for the biden malls campaign but how long can she hide? >> that's a great question i don't think she has that much time to spare. what happened just today was that her hand was forced by the trump campaign not only trump calling on her to speak to the press during his long press conference today but also yesterday jd vance going out in front of air force to and
8:10 pm
basically throwing the gauntlet down and saying i'm here talking to the media, where is your presidential nominee on the democratic side? >> trace: i want to put this up because i found this. this is the swing pole if you want to put this up there. this is the battleground states and i put it up there because i thought it was interesting. all the polls are very close but you look at specific issues. economy and jobs you have harris down by seven. crime or corruption, harris down by five. harris down by nine. immigration, harris down by 13. those are numbers that are very difficult to recover from. >> that's right. that's what hasn't changed here. the nominee has changed but the policies and people's opinions and views of those policies have not changed. that's why she has slow walking having to go talk about them. that's where donald trump should continue to be disciplined like he was in a debate against joe biden, to talk about the record
8:11 pm
of donald trump's presidency versus the reality of what we are seeing with biden and harris. that's what's going to be the determining factor. her picking tim walz, she's only cemented that we are in for a continual downhill slide should they get anywhere near the white house. >> trace: thank you both p. or the mainstream media can't help itself. one host now declaring dehydration is a key sign that voters are excited about the harris walz ticket. live in new york with the latest on this, good evening. >> the harris honeymoon rolls on from spikes and poles to big crowd supporters even willing to bake in the sun in wisconsin yesterday. >> freedom... can we get somebody to help? somebody is hot. can we get some buddy to help? you okay? >> that bible moment has at least one cohost comparing the
8:12 pm
rallies to the likes of taylor swift and adele concerts. >> people like getting so overheated at rallies or in audiences and needing water, you know were that happens? at adele concerts, at taylor swift concerts and tim walz literally did that yesterday because someone needed water and it was trending as this incredible moment. i don't know what's going on but people are very excited about this ticket. >> the honeymoon has captured a slight national lead in the top pulling aggregates, scoring a 52 to 48 percent edge over president trump and in may trump and president biden were dead even at 50 percent apiece in the poll and today trump addressed his opponents momentum in a press conference. >> the honeymoon period is going to and. she's got a little period, she has a convention coming up.
8:13 pm
>> senior trump campaign officials telling fox that his team isn't worried about the polling during this honeymoon phase seeing key issues like the economy will be what actually matters come november. >> trace: thank you. let's bring in... and the host of a podcast, one of america's great former anchors... you heard her there, it's kind of amazing that now we are comparing kamala harris to taylor swift because of dehydration, your thoughts. >> first of all everyone seems to have forgotten that this exact same thing happened at the donald trump rocks rally where he had to paws for about five minutes because somebody was dehydrated and he waited very patiently and checked in with that person until they got some help. i understand that we are all paying attention to a lot of things but it was two months ago. the gap that you are pointing to between vibes and policy is so
8:14 pm
real and what it tells you is not so much about kamala harris, it tells you about who the democratic base is. it is people who can afford to throw their one-vote await on vibes because they are part of the elites, because they have a college degree and they are living large and they don't have to worry about the kitchen table issues the average american's are suffering under and they have all of this leftover energy to vote based on vibes. that is what we are seeing here. >> trace: don't forget joy. why is kamala harris not taking questions? politico says one longtime ally suggests to west wing playbook that harris could hold off on big interviews until after labor day, there's really no need. the presence of the voters that she needs are at the local level. they are not reading the national press. i think even the voters that are kind of committed to her what kind of like to know what she's
8:15 pm
going to do for them over the next four years. >> i think the excitement will wane if she doesn't feed it with some real details, some information. something to chew on. i think that there strategy behind all of this, i know his report as we always try to see what's really going on behind the curtain and who is driving all of this p. or chi think there is a strategy she's bringing in money, she's got the honeymoon period going and we know that these interviews are not her best. they don't seem to work too well for her. i think it is strategy. >> a lot of people are saying keeper on the sidelines, at least get through the dnc and then we can go out and start talking to people after we get a few more points on the board. media research centre says they won't let up. search giant turns users to harris in search for a complete leader for name and goes on to say when media research search for terms jd vance rally on
8:16 pm
tuesday google displayed a news panel labelled top stories kamala harris and jd vance, all the top six news results referred to vance, four of the six referred to harris as well. there goes the thumb on the scale again only this time it is social media where they are at it. >> this is a replay of tony 16 and 2020 where the elites and big tech and in the democratic party and in the media which 96 percent of journalists donate to democrats, they are colluding once again in order to keep donald trump out of office and why? because donald trump was the first resident in 60 years to shrink the income and wealth gap between the college-educated and the working class and the college-educated elites cannot stand him for it. >> trace: usa today says kamala harris seems unburdened by her lacklustre passion. you can think the media for that p. or the ability to redefine
8:17 pm
herself in a matter of weeks seems tied to her teleprompter. her team has not let her get far and for good reason. goes back to what we were talking about earlier picture's not great at the ad-lib stuff. she has this kind of pattern where you ask her a question and then she repeats the question trying to buy a little bit of time and then you can move on from there and hope things turn out well. >> i was thinking about it today because i am passionate about debates. thank they need to happen from every local race to the presidential races. that's because it's one of those rare opportunities that even though they rehearsed and even though there's a lot of glitz and glamour around it, there is that raw moment because you are alive, you are under pressure. at can't be a teleprompter type of answer. i was thinking the olympics. would you want to judge the olympics based on an edited version of those gymnasts doing their routines? know you want to see them under
8:18 pm
pressure and see them putting on their best stuff and alive situation situation. that's what i want to see and why want to see debates. everything is so contrived. it is so polished and edited we need real stuff to make our decisions. >> put the gloves on and let's bring them on. thank you both. is a growing debate about the military service record of democratic vice presidential pick tim walz p. or did he abandon his unit by retiring months before deployment to iraq and has he exaggerated his rank to further his political career? christina coleman is live looking for answers. >> tim walz retired from the army national guard when he was 41 years old in may of 2005 after serving 24 years. 's unit received an alert order from mobilization just a few months later in july of that year and they deployed to iraq in march of 2006. some of his critics are blasting
8:19 pm
him over accusations that he retired in 2005 to avoid being deployed to iraq and to run for congress. >> here's what i can't forgive when no cop or veteran can forgive. when your unit was deploying to iraq, we had to stop pretending that this is a wake-up call at five in the morning, everyone needs to be on a plane we are leaving in three hours. the retirement packet alone takes months to process. you knew that your unit was deploying. >> the team did not confirm when walz submitted his papers. they typically take months to process. harris was asked about all of this today. here is her generic response. >> i praise anyone who has presented themselves to serve our country. i think that we all should. >> also today the team directed walz's biography on their campaign website to show that while walz served as a command sergeant major, he retired at
8:20 pm
the lower rank of master sergeant. it was made following accusations that the campaign misrepresented his true military rank at retirement. >> trace: more about this with our team on the other side. thank you. coming up it's not just republicans accusing walz of stolen valour, even mainstream media outlets are airing claims from those who served with him. will have more on his military record next and brand-new very revealing police body cam video from pennsylvania that shows just how chaotic things were after former president trump was nearly assassinated and later in the nightcap. >> donald trump agreed to three debates will you be participating in all three? >> [ inaudible ] >> trace: it's unclear if kamala harris will commit to the other debates saying only that she's open to the conversation. do you think that she will agree to debate right here on fox news
8:21 pm

8:27 pm
would be they would get together next thursday august 15th to hammer out a new cease-fire and hostage deal and this is all happening as tensions here in the middle east continue to rise israeli forces wasting no time as they wait -- awaits a possible retaliatory strike from iran and it's proxies. soldiers discovering more tunnels and passageways concealed in the walls of homes. israeli forces also carrying out a deadly strike on hamas command and control centres said to be embedded within two schools in the gaza strip and in southern lebanon, the israeli air force air force overnight struck more hezbollah infrastructure. >> the resilience and strength of the israeli public is a key issue that allows us to make -- to make correct decisions. there is here a psychological attempt by the enemy to tell stories and terrorize. >> has more time goes on without a response from iran there are multiple reports to iran might

threats posed by both iran and it's proxies. >> trace: jeff thank you. let's bring an idea of special operations veteran law enforcement expert aaron cohen along with cameron hamilton. thank you both for coming on p. or aaron you changed a little bit here. now you think that it would be best for israel to conduct a preemptive strike on iran, explained that. >> the soul of israel's strength lies in its ability to... i will lean in to israel there's a good chance israel did assassinate him. that requires a very high level of intelligence. my contention is that the best way to deal with this monster bulldog in the middle east which is causing all of the problems. there is tons of countries that want to have peace with israel. the sooner iran is looked at for
8:30 pm
that ten years of threats they've been making against the west and israel, the sooner israel preempts, the sooner the ir gc is put down, they are scared right now, israel knows it. the fact is israel has got to be aggressive and i think they should preempt and get this thing over with and stop waiting >> trace: sometimes you have to punch the bully first. does israel have the defences to be able to defend themselves on three separate fronts? >> an excellent question. i think of the ended -- at the end of the day they do. they're military and israel is very unique to most. the integration between the different armed services, their aviation wings, boots on the ground as well as a lot of their advanced technology to improve the effort of the war fighter is quite remarkable. it's unlike any other nation in the world second to the united states so i think they can take on most enemies that are at
8:31 pm
least five to ten times their size and they've done it time and time again. >> trace: it's a powerful nation. new body cam is kind of off topic but it's the new body cam video we have gotten audio as well on the day of the attempted assassination against former president trump. listen closely here and you will kind of see and feel the chaos. >> trace: i told them, they knew it, this is just after and they are seeing we knew this was going to happen. >> the responsibility of the security at the butler valley lies solely at the secret service.

they are responsible for protecting this event. responsible for doing the threat assessment and doing the site surveys. they are responsible for taking their protection circle rings of experience and expertise and telling their local law enforcement partners where they want them and where they should be staged and what their roles are and all of their operation responsibilities. the woman who was hiding behind the actual protective ring and couldn't reholstered, secret service failure. the shot that was fired, secret service failure. lack of communications and radio , secret service failure. ronald has got to go. it's just on the -- another cheadle. this has -- law enforcement did the best they could. this appears secret service fail >> what you make of the accusation that he inflated his military record? is a former member of his battalion. >> we all did what we were supposed to do, we did the right thing and it's dishonourable
8:33 pm
what he did. he left somebody else up to take over his spot. he just ditched us. >> trace: dishonourable. is it? >> you can't make this up. this is a national headline that would have likely cost him many opportunities to seek public office years ago. it seems the american people have amnesia about thanks of the passed. there's federal law that he may have violated in doing this also by misrepresenting the fact that he's not a combat vet no disservice to anyone that hasn't served in combat but don't lie and be deceitful about something you are not. i think his own record is subject to public scrutiny and i unfortunately it's not going to bode well for him. the american people will ultimately come to their senses. >> trace: thank you both. california state senator leaving the democratic party now going to serve her constituents as a republican. we are about to find out why when she joins us live on sat next. and up close look at the demise of california where even the homeless are afraid of the homeless.

somebody would ask her something and she would just walk right past them. she didn't know they were talking to her. i just could not hear. i was hesitant to get the hearing aids because of my short hair. but nobody even sees them. our nearly invisible hearing aids are just one reason we've been the brand leader for over 75 years. when i finally could hear for the first time, i could hear everything. call miracle-ear at 1-800-234-7090

8:39 pm
>> i she's incompetent because i've watched her peer chi destroyed california, she destroyed, everything she's touched has turned to bad things. i'm not going to use foul language but everything she has touched has turned bad. >> trace: if you've been watching fox news in a recently you already knew what former president trump was talking about today and tonight we have some news relating to that progressive decimation of california. we are going to start by bringing in steve hilton,... in your first live interview since you have gone from a democrat in california to a republican, what's the reasoning
8:40 pm
for the move from one side of the aisle to the other? >> that's the big question of the day and the answer is really simple. i've been a lifelong democrat and the democratic party of today in california i do not recognize it. so i can't with the values that i have and my commitment to represent the voters of california continue to call myself a democrat. >> it's a gutsy move in california and you are still in. you are in the majority and now you are in the vast minority how does that make you feel? >> it's exciting because i've been working with my colleagues in the republican senate and in the assembly for quite some time i been serving for two years and i have two more years to my term so i have gone through an uphill battle in the super majority and i've seen over and over again the lack of will to make those decisions that we need as legislators to take california and a different direction. my republican colleagues have a plan to fix california and i want to be part of that.
8:41 pm
>> it's a gutsy move. >> i get really is the sign of the change that i've been fighting for. i got my organization nonpartisan, democrat supporting it, republicans and independents everyone can see we need change in california. on every policy issue. there's one party rule for maybe 20 years is failing. it's time for change in the senate and today is a sign that it could happen. >> one of america's former great beach towns, santa monica california. everybody knows it is now being ruined by progressive government policies that run the state. the county, the city. operating for decades free of conservative interference meaning they should have exactly the city that they want. tonight a closer look at what kamala harris, gavin newsom at all left behind. >> tell me the whole crack pipe, the genesis of the crack pipe. crack pipes peeing -- being in parks and finding these, why?
8:42 pm
what happened? what motivated this program where we are go to let people -- give people the tools to get high? >> the county will tell us that as part of harm reduction, which is a big wide program, covers many things. as far as the needle and the glass pipe, component of harm reduction, they will tell us we need to meet the addicts where they are. on a typical basis this area is full of people. in about three hours it will be full of six to eight people with blankets, with sleeping bags out of it, completely out of it. blocking the entrance to the tennis courts. you won't see parents, kids walking their dogs. you no longer see birthday parties. you will notice there are no benches here. there are no benches because they don't want people.
8:43 pm
we approach this owner to tell him that it was going on and he was so upset and he knew nothing about it. >> you have the businesses that are pleading for help and you notice right here that the doors are smashed and constantly. the windows are smashed. most of them all is vacant and a store that is open continually gets hit and windows are smashed and they are looking for help. it seems to be few and far between. >> it's normal and that's why the rest of the centre is vacant >> this is the famous third street promenade. is one of the big hubs for santa monica. people shopped here. if you look down the street, up here there's a big mall so are they closed or the -- are they open? >> there's no business for them during the day so they open for a few hours at night. sometimes the sales are zero.
8:44 pm
most of the tenants will tell you sometimes the sales for a whole day are $200. >> trace: the tour continues but it's interesting because this is your town and i lived there 25 years ago and what you see down there in that area is really disappointing. >> it's a real travesty to see what's happened to third street promenade, all of santa monica and general because this was all preventable. the city is making excuses saying this is attributable to economic factors, people shopping online. you look at other places like the growth and go to manhattan beach, you don't see that problem. stores are wide open. streets are bustling because it santa monica feeds addicts drugs, they invite homeless people over to the city with promises of million-dollar plus condominiums. they tell the police who really want to do their jobs they cannot prosecute or arrest criminals and they basically created a system where the
8:45 pm
city's economic engine is now decimated. the city is effectively broke at this point and you have a city council it up of half people who are regular left of centre democrats and then another half that are dsa democratic socialists and fighting amongst each other and getting nothing done. >> trace: this whole idea is there is no conservative involvement in this at all. no republican involvement at all. i know your group is nonpartisan but this is a progressive dream in california. >> that's what's really going on in california. everybody has to be clear about. we've had this experiment completely unchecked for nearly 20 years and every level of government in a state of california and the results are in. you see the results in the chaos and the crime and homelessness on the streets. we have the highest taxes in the country, the highest poverty in the country. the highest housing cost, the lowest homeownership. the worst business climate on every measure. it's a total failure. when people say that california
8:46 pm
can't become republican, over 4s for the last 20 years. the gap is much smaller than people think. because of these results and because of moves like from the senator i that changes going to come. >> they all pointed to things, homelessness is out of control and proposition 47 which kamala harris named as the thing that killed their businesses and is still killing them now. >> that's absolutely correct. i had a front row seat watching the super majority fail us over and over again and you hit the nail on the head. we've seen it devastate our businesses, our communities, our constituents are afraid for even taking their kids to school and to the community parks. we have communities in my district alone that are being sued by the state because they are saying no more drugs on the street. no more homeless on the street. no more giving these packets of needles and drug paraphernalia to addicts.
8:47 pm
>> trace: i want to put this on the screen because this has to do with things we've talked about. and they raised the minimum wage for fast food california restaurants and now the employment policy institute says they've done a survey, 98 percent of those restaurants raised their menus. 89 percent reduced employee hours. seventy-three have limited employee shift pickups. seventy reduced staff for consolidated positions and 89 percent are less likely to expand in california. >> this is surprising and when you go to any fast food place, i go to taco bell occasionally. >> trace: i've seen you there five times. >> they hardly have employees. you can only order on a tablet. there is no person to talk to and they just bring your order out in the butte -- leave it for you. you don't ever interact with someone else. this was all protectable and they are treating it as if these are lifelong careers. they are not, they are entry-level jobs and young people who were taking these jobs are being robbed of the opportunity to have that entry-level job.
8:48 pm
>> this shows the corruption of the heart of the california politics because it's all driven by the donors to the democratic party and the unions and the results are actually worse for the workers that they claim to represent. >> one family cannot even go to get a sandwich or a burger, that's a problem in california and we really need to make sure that our people here in california can afford the basic housing, food and entertainment for their family. >> trace: best of luck to you and your new party. thank you all. while president trump announced he agreed to three official debates, kamala harris has only agreed to the abc september 10. but she's open to having conversation about additional debates, do you think she will agreed to debate right here on fox news channel? the nightcap next. with cascade platinum plus, i have upped my dish game auntie, in that dishwasher? watch me
8:49 pm
8:52 pm
8:53 pm
8:54 pm
do you think she's being sincere? will she agreed to debate on fox? >> only if she has to and it depends on how much pressure is applied to her. >> trace: kevin corke what you think? >> nope.
