kamala's good vibes, they have to defend price controls? >> what was interesting to me today in seeing this plan is that it is clearly very progressive, regardless of what she is saying to donors behind closes doors she is putting a progressive bent to her campaign at this point. that's not what a lot of people expected to or hoped to see. i have been talking to moderate democrats who said she could run a vibes campaign. she didn't have to get into policy details at all. >> laura: if you are a moderate democrat, you are going to sleep tonight realizing that your party has become hard core socialist on economic issues rights now aoc has more influence on policy than mark warner. pennsylvania senator bob casey sounded like a bumbling fool when he was asked for his take on cost controls. >> companies producing food and household items, that's where the price gouging has taken place. go after them price gouging legislation to do that and to

give the federal trade commission power it does not have right now. >> i mean, really guys looking at him going what? g.o.p. challenger dave mccormick is going to go to town on that in pennsylvania. even the liberal atlantic kamala's schtick today was economically done and made no sense to people acquainted with supply and demand but it may attract some support. it was this uncomfortable moment for the morning anchors over at cnn. >> seeing this kind of thing tried in lots of other countries before venezuela, argentina, the soviet union,est, it leads to shortages, it leads to black markets, you know, plenty of uncertainty. might actually increase prices. >> laura: of course it will. it will drive up inflation, this is unserious economic plan put forward by unserious candidate. and, by the way, this is why you don't skip over primaries. because they have a way of weeding out the most extreme and the most inexperienced

candidates out there. that's what happened with her in 2019. so you love his style, you hate his style. donald trump doesn't need to manufacture good vibes. he doesn't need to unveil a late of incongruent ideas i has a proven track record of success built on nine years of effort. but haste's support, i think it's more like biden's. they didn't really love biden in 2020. and they don't really love her. they just want to defeat trump. remember that biden used to have vibes on his side as well. do you remember dark brandon? do you remember the ice cream stops at the cream stops. the post debate reality set in, his support melted away. and then came the coup. so what will harris' campaign look like if she falls behind with some signs show that she is already doing. university. that's what democrats should be worried about tonight.

and that's the angle. andy budser former ceo of cke restaurants. andy, good have you on. what will kamala's policies do to the food industry, given her claims of gouging disconnected with market forces. >> only thing that price fixing does is it reduces the availability of goods. it will take goods off the shelf. own the grocery store fewer goods. quite honestly no goods on the shelves it doesn't matter where the government sets the prices. her claims of gouging are absurd. we actually have the inflation numbers. can you compare the wholesale inflation numbers which are what businesses pay to the consumer inflation numbers. and if you do, over the term of the obama administration, they are both up about 19%. well, that's because businesses aren't gouging. they are dealing with the same inflationary pressures that consumers are. and they have to increase the price of their goods to stay in

business. they can't absorb all these inflationary costs. so but harris, you covered it very well in your summary. she is in a tough spot. she can't stick with the policy has have obviously failed. the biden-harris policies. she owns them. big spending bills. she is the tiebreaking vote. she can't adopt all of trump's policies or she would look ridiculous. she wouldn't be a credible candidate. although she has tried. what she has to do in the middle is find new things to do. she thinks if she comes out wih emotional apiece. i'm going to cut real estate prices. i'm going to cut home prices by giving money. i'm going to cut food prices by telling people they can't charge as much. she thinks she will get some votes. by the way if they were going to do this she could walk 20 feet down the hall and say joey, i have got great ideas here. why make people suffer until january 20th. let's implement ideas now. not going to do serious ideas. >> referenced the obama obama administration. point. we got it clam has a new

tariffs. entire tranche of trump's tariffs in place because of the dumping and unfair trade practices that are routinely used as a matter of course by china and other nations around the world. if we didn't have those tariffs in place now, lord knows where the economy would be. so, i mean, i don't even think she knows that biden has those in place. but, scott, i want to move on because she is making a populist pitch, and as part of this anti-tariff thing. she is making a populist pitch while she is making these other crazy points. watch. >> you have the vice president here talking about how excited she was to see her mom save up for 10 years to buy a house. and then how she worked at mcdonald's to put herself through college and wants people around her struggle make ends meet. wonderful jobs to do that it gives a sense of legitimacy to this populist argument that she is trying to make. >> populism isn't bankrupting

election could very welcome down to. and then a second pennsylvania poll out late today has trump ahead by 1. so, bottom line, never ever count donald trump out. joining me now, matt towery, political analyst and pollster, mike hub bee, fox news contributor, former arkansas governor. matt, the harris honeymoon, we talked about this a few weeks ago, because a lot of people felt -- well, gosh, we are so demoralized. she is so great. look, the celebrities are doing zoom calls. but, what do these trends and what did her speech today and how wacky and left wing it was, what does that tell you? >> well, it tells me that she has reached a certain level and she is not gaining any ground right now. we have seen in the polling that we look at that basically as you said, all these states are pretty tight. with trump having a lead in most of them. now, let me give you an example how sometimes this train gets going and it's not really true. there was one set of polls that

were introduced two days ago that came out and showed harris leading almost every swing state. the only problem is it was produced on august the 1st. it ended the actual poll on august the 2nd, when the honeymoon started. so you got to be careful about these averages. they make it look like there is more momentum for harris than there actually is. >> laura: now a new survey conducted by rng has trump up by 1 point nationally and including the leaners trump has 2 point edge. governor, harris momentum. they got rid of biden. they dumped him. they did a whole coup, big deal. they bypassed the primaries, they went right to harris now basically they are where they were maybe before the debate or maybe a couple months before the debate? how is this working? here is what we quote to remember. kamala harris is like the ice cream cone right outs of the freezer. pretty good when comes out of

this just wild. so according to this other new survey, when asked if the u.s. would be better off if its policies were more like california, only 28%, matt, agreed that they would be better off. but, i mean, aren't her policies closer to california's than, let's say, a traditional democrat's policies, matt? >> oh, they are. and i will give the trump campaign some credit. i know they get criticized right now. i think they are running a pretty good campaign. they have ads up battleground states certainly on the border pointing these things out. what i think the trump team needs though are some of these other pacs that are either run in sort of wishy washy ads or not running at all to come out and point out the facts. run her own voice, the things she has said in the past would horrify the independent and moderate voter if they could just see them. they just need to get them up there in the ads so it can penetrate past this news media blocking all these stories out.
