>> donald j. trump back to the white house. [applause] there is so much, so much at stake in this election. think of everything that this country has endured over the last four years of kamala harris' broken leadership. prices are up and wages down. our borders are wide open, but we have had a lot of factories closing down. fentanyl is available on every street corner from north carolina to wisconsin, but it is impossible for young americans to find an affordable home to raise their families in. now donald j. trump represents something that so many in this country need right now, and i think it's important to recognize it appeared we need hope in the united states of america. hope that we can reignite this economy and bring back prosperity to american citizens. hope that we can raise our kids insecure neighborhoods and safe

streets. hope that we can renew the patriotism that binds us as a country together, one nation under god. [applause] my friends, for a lot of us, for a lot of the people that we fight for, the american dream seems out of reach today, the most out of reach it's been in a generation. but in 75 days, we are going to save the dreams of every single american and will mark the beginning of the future all of us deserve, and we are going to do it together. [applause] now we are here to talk about national security today and saving the american dream, let's be honest, it starts with peace. peace in our neighborhoods. peace in our cities peered at peace at the southern border. lord willing, we bring back the leadership of donald j. trump, we are going to have peace all over the entire world. he did it once before, and i
10:02 am
think he's going to do it again. [applause] now, if we don't have safety for our families, if we don't have security for our country, we don't have anything. and i'm a firm believer that when we talk about national security, national security starts right here at home, right here in the great state of north carolina. and there has been no greater area where kamala harris has failed to deliver peace and national security than at the american southern border. it is a disgrace, my friends. i cannot believe how bad it is pure now the media will lie to you and tell you that she was never the border czar. have you heard that? even though they all said she was the border czar for three and a half years. and remember that as border czar, kamala harris has allowed a literal invasion of this country, more than 10 million illegal aliens, and she has refused to deport the people who were already here. so that makes about 25,
10:03 am
25 million illegal aliens that are in this country right now. now all brave border patrol officers, they plea, they beg for her support. i was doubt at the southern border and i saw it. giant sections of president trump's border wall sit right there rusting, waiting to be installed, but she refuses to do her job. and you think it is bad now? if we give kamala harris a promotion and make her the president of the united states, the southern border is going to look like walmart on black friday, ladies and gentlemen. no good pure no fun at all. now while she offers amnesty for the people who have broken our laws, we have a different message. president trump and i have a different message, to all of the criminal illegals who flooded across kamala's wide-open southern border, pack your bags because in six months you are going home. [applause] now just weeks ago i actually visited the southern border, which means i have visited the
10:04 am
southern border more than our border czar, kamala harris. i saw where little girls are traffic by the drug cartels, some of the most vile people in the world taking advantage of innocent little children and making money off of them. i met a rancher who endured violent criminals raiding his land, just a rancher in arizona trying to get by. and i see the desperation of families torn apart by the fentanyl and all the other poison the cartels are bringing into our country. now i know the hurt of that poison very personally. a lot of you know my story. i remember being a kid whose mom struggled with addiction. i remember waiting at the bedside of my mom, angry that she had taken something that she shouldn't have taken, but just praying. lord, jesus, let her wake up. let her make it through this time. and we've got to remember, my friends, because of kamala harris' border policies, way too many of our loved ones are not waking up.
10:05 am
way too many kids have been orphaned. way too many grandparents are raising kids they didn't expect to raise because kamala harris allowed the drug cartels to wage war on this country. i think it's time to wage war on the drug cartels, and that is going to start with donald trump's leadership. [cheers and applause] now the president is going to be here in just a few minutes, but i almost feel bad for him, because this is not the first time that donald trump is going to have to clean up somebody else's mess. now remember, in 2016, he took over from barack obama who let isa spread mayhem all over the world. then trump came along and in a couple weeks did with the media said could not be done, he wiped them off the face of the earth. [applause] and remember, when we win this november, and it's going to start right here in north carolina, i think the cartels are next. we are going to do to them what
10:06 am
donald trump did to isis. [applause] now i will admit it is hard to make sense of kamala harris' foreign policy. especially when she explains it like a third grader who didn't study for a class presentation. have you ever seen kamala talk about the ukraine russia war? [crowd response] i recommend you go and see it, but wait until november because you are going to lose about 20 iq points when you watch kamala harris talk about russia and ukraine, and we need that over the next few months, we need you guys in top form so don't watch it just yet but she will say, well, ukraine is a country in europe and russia is a country in europe. and then you say okay, what comes next, kamala? and the answer is nothing comes next because she doesn't know what the hell she is talking about. [applause]
10:07 am
but -- [laughs] but if you want to give her the benefit of the doubt and understand her foreign policy, remember that she bragged on cnn about playing a key role in the disastrous withdrawal from afghanistan. now that was before 13 innocent service members died at the kabul airport. that was about three years ago to the day. that was before the world witnessed panicked civilians cling to the sides of retreating american airplanes. and that was before they gave the taliban billions of dollars, paid for by you, billions of dollars of helicopters, planes, humvees, and artillery. it was the worst humiliation this country hasn't ordered since the fall of saigon, and kamala harris says she is proud of what she did. it was treason. and it is it any wonder that putin then invaded ukraine on her watch. or that iran attacked israel on her watch. or that this very moment china is ramping up its aggression
10:08 am
against taiwan on her watch. when kamala harris walks in the room, america's enemies sense weakness. and that's why we have got to fire kamala harris, not give her a promotion. [cheers and applause] she wants to represent america all over the world but is terrified to face a friendly media. a person who runs from the friendly american press could stand up to vladimir putin or kim jong un or xi jinping? of course she couldn't. so you believe a strong america requires a strong leader, i've got a recommendation for you, why don't we reelected president donald j. trump? [applause] and while we are on the topic, don't send her stolen valor
10:09 am
sidekick, send a former marine, send j.d. vance to be vice president. [applause] we've got some marines out there, semper fi. now kamala harris, she gets really mad when i bring up the stolen valor of her runni running mate, but let me tell you why it matters. every single person here understands why this matters. here's the record on tim walz, the governor of minnesota he dropped out of the military and allowed his unit to go to iraq without him. and he knew they were going to iraq. he lied about it but he knew they were going to iraq. even his chaplain called him a coward. and those of you who served in the military no, the chaplain is the nicest person in the unit. the chaplain is calling you a coward, you must have really screwed up. he claimed to carry a weapon in war. but you ask him, tim, what war have you ever been in? the answer is he has never been to a single war appeared he lied about it. he lied about his rank. and he stood in silence as
10:10 am
nancy pelosi and a lot of journalist praised him for his service on an imaginary battlefield instead of correcting the record. what won't stolen valor tim walz for about? in fact, i believe in his next speech he is probably going to say he survived an assassination attempt in pennsylvania p or i think that is what tim walz is going to claim next time. now look, we don't criticize, and this is where the media is dishonest p at we don't criticize tim walz for his years of service in the national guar. we condemn him for lying about that service for political gain. it's disgraceful, and nobody should tolerate it. now tim walz needs to not only explain why he abandon his guard unit at he also needs to explain his bizarre love affair with china. have you seen this? this guy has been to china more than the u.s. investor to china. he got married in china. he visited china or 30 times. he honeymooned in china.
10:11 am
he taught a course approved by the communist party in china. he even brought american high school students with him on visits to china. now i know, and we although, that kamala harris wanted to outsource our factories and jobs to china, but i didn't expect her to outsource the selection of her running mate to china, too. but here is the problem in choosing him for vice president. it's not just about tim walz. it's about kamala harris' terrible judgment. we do not need a president with terrible judgment. we need donald j. trump back not white house. [applause] nothing matters in national security and foreign policy more than judgment because nobody knows what is going to happen. nobody knows what crisis is going to erupt over the next four years. and i've got to be honest with you, my entire adult life has been shaped by presidents who threw americans into unwise wars and then failed to win them.
10:12 am
and if we are being honest, it wasn't just democrats, it was sometimes republicans, too. and what did donald trump do? he stood up to the chicken ha hawks. he bucked the foreign policy establishment, even sometimes he resisted pressure from within his own party. in president trump's four years in office, we had zero new wars. [applause] we had peace all over the world when donald j. trump was president. in the middle east, he brokered the abraham accords, brought stability, and created a long-term balance to iran. in europe, he pushed the europeans to take more responsibility for their own defense so the united states would not have to pay for a bunch of freeloaders. we've got to focus on our own security, not subsidize european welfare. they can take care of themselves. [applause]
10:13 am
and never forget it, much as the democrats said that donald trump was somehow on the side of russia, the only president of the last 20 years who didn't -- who had russia not invade a neighbor was the presidency of donald j. trump beauty kept russia in check. he's the only president of our lives to do it. [applause] under kamala harris, putin invaded ukraine. but under donald trump, putin didn't do a damn thing and that is because of strong leadership. people respected him. and that is, by the way, my friends, why we were able to defend our own border, is because donald trump didn't have us distracted by fighting wars that we had no business being involved in. we've got to focus on our own border right here at home. that is the donald trump principle, and that is what we are going to bring back to the white house.
10:14 am
[applause] it's funny. all these people said that he was going to start a nuclear war, but president trump knew more about diplomacy than any president of the last four years, and asia, he opened diplomatic talks with north korea after a half-century of stagnation. and you remember when he went to north korea and met with kim jong un, the leader of that country. if you know anything about kim jong un, well, how do i say this politely? kim jong un doesn't miss a whole lot of meals, okay, my friends. that's... and trump stands there with the media and kim jong un, do you remember this? i encourage you to go look it up. and he brings the media in and says all right come everybody, take some photos of us, make us look nice and make us look skinny. and kim jong un sat up like t that. it means something to have a president who's not afraid to go into hostile territories, tell a few jokes, and actually engage in diplomacy. that preserves peace. while all these democrats lied
10:15 am
about donald trump being the candidate of nuclear war, donald trump is the person who prevented nuclear war, and if we are not careful, kamala harris is going to walk us right into nuclear war. we've got to kick her out and not give her a promotion to president of the united states. [applause] and may be, may be the most important thing donald trump did is he began the process of ending america's economic reliance on china. the most important thing. because donald trump understands economic security is national security. the whole world knows that's china doesn't have better workers in america, but they are willing to lie, cheat, and steal to win. they lied about unleashing covid-19. they cheat and they ignore trade rules. and they steal america's intellectual property. now kamala harris lets china get away with all of it, and china
10:16 am
tim helps her. donald trump is going to let china steal a thing purities not going to let them steal our factories. not going to let them steal our jobs, not going to let them steal the american dream from american workers. donald trump will not allow america to be dependent on chinese medicine for our children. that's a big thing. so much of what we put into the bodies of our children is made in china. it doesn't make any sense. and donald trump will tell china that if they don't stop sending fentanyl into our city, there is going to be hell to pay p or no more of that crap peered we need that someone who stands up for american workers. now the establishment loves to complain about president trump's approach to diplomacy. they don't like the way that he talks. have you seen this? [crowd response] why is it that our leaders are still so careful with their wort so reckless with their actions?
10:17 am
i prefer a different kind of statesmanship. one that stands up to the crowd, one that stands for american interests, and it pursues those interests ruthlessly but also carefully. with strong words and the strongest military in the world, but with great restraint to balance it out. donald trump's presidency was the first disruption to the failed consensus and the terrible consequences that it wrought. so i say let them whine about donald trump's tweets. because let's be honest, folks. mean tweets and world peace has a pretty nice ring to it, and i think we ought to bring it back. [applause] we have got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reelect a man who has proven he is too big for the deep state bureaucracy. he is too tough for the tyrants all over the world. he was too strong, even for an assassin's bullet. leaders and gentlemen, let's return to a time when the

42,000 votes in three states settled for 2020 race, and we are likely to see a close contest, nobody can take it for granted. wait until after labor day and the country sees polls, i suspect harris will be ahead, the question is by how much of how durable with the debate coming up on the tenth and both campaigns wrapping up their efforts. >> sandra: i want to end by asking what you are seeing and feeling on the ground, after i roll tape on chuck schumer this morning saying he feels like this is the most unified convention he's ever been to. listen. >> the democrats are moving forward in a positive, happy, unified way. i have been to every convention since 1984. san francisco. this is not only the happiest convention, the most unified convention, but also the most intent on winning because we know the danger of donald trump. >> sandra: your reaction, karl, to what you are seeing and feeling on the ground there? >> if you start by comparing it to the fractured democratic party of 1984, it
10:26 am
went on to lose 49 states, i guess any convention looks good by comparison. but you know what? it has thus far been a successful convention. the first night was late. biden gave, i thought, you will read about it in my column, i thought a bad speech, but i thought hillary clinton did an admirable job the first night. last night, the best speech of the night was from a woman who hates politics, namely michelle obama. the second best in my opinion was doug emhoff, the husband of vice president harris, who i thought didn't admiral job helping humanize him and her. finally, the patron saint of the democrat party president obama did a very good job. we shouldn't be surprised at that. the old saw is democrats fall in love and republicans fall in line. that is to say democrats get enthusiastic about someone, and republicans sort of take the next right person and nominate them.
10:27 am
democrats in this instance are falling in love and falling in line. they were so desperate to get rid of joe biden. they knew how weak he was and he was going to lose to donald trump, when he made that decision on july 21st and got out of the race, the sense of gratitude and relief that he is no longer their nominee is palpable in this hall, and that is why this crowd is so enthusiastic. they knew they were going to lose. now they think that got a shot. >> sandra: great stuff. its before, thanks so much for joining us, appreciate all of that. >> you bet, thank for having me. >> john? >> when i was at the convention the posture be 96, '08 come 'uno unified. the windy city unifying on the border crisis. not addressing the influx of or 464646,000 how are people respog to all of this? >> john, people we spoke to here in chicago are angry, particularly those in the black and hispanic neighborhoods of

there. john? >> john: all right, sandra, our next guest was the first sitting democratic senator to call on president biden to drop out of the race but for many voters it's hard to be sold on the new nominee. as vice president harris continues dodging the media and lists none of her policies on her campaign website. there is not even a policy section. it's bringing democratic vermont senator peter welch. good of you to be with us today. you are the first sitting senator to call for biden to drop out. are you fully comfortable and have a full understanding of who replaced him? as we pointed out, kamala harris has been rather thin on policy. back in 2019 when her policy record came under scrutiny, she quickly went from just about tied for first place to being tied for last. >> we are comfortable. two things. number one, there was an extraordinary outpouring and grassroots support for her once the president made his decision to step aside. $100 million in a single day, 150,000 volunteers stepped up.
10:36 am
and all of those governors who are potential candidates endorsed her so that is an indication her starting out with support pure number to come on the policies, bottom line here, she has a record with president biden, and that is got will be debated but we are comfortable with it because what she is zeroing in on our economic issues, affordability issues for the middle class, and building that economy to strengthen the middle class. so there will be a contest about this. she will lay out policy proposals as this goes on but the democrats i think are fully confident that she's got a will house, bread and butter table agenda that is beneficial for everyday americans across the country. >> john: so speaking of wheel houses, she was in the wheelhouse with joe biden, when the american economy ran aground, inflation went up, gas prices went up come in interest rates went up, and people at home or feeling it they tried to
10:37 am
put food on the kitchen table and pay mortgages or buy a new house or put gasoline in their car. how is she the answer to america's economic woes if she was in the wheelhouse when the whole thing hit a shoal? >> there's two things. first of all, let's be clear appeared covid have a huge impact on our country. it had emotionally, healthwise, the people that we lost, and on the economy with the disruption of supply chains. whoever is in office at that time get some of the blame for that. inflation is coming down. jobs have gone up. but it is still a struggle. i think candor is important here, and the biden administration and now the harris candidacy is going to have to acknowledge that affordability is a real issue and be specific and focused on how we can have the efforts to bring those prices down. that includes kind of sick consolidation of power, big companies that use pricing power
10:38 am
to stick it to everyday americans. it has to do with the consolidation of the meat-packing industry, four industries in the country and no surprise the price of chicken went way up. so that is going to be a big issue. but i think she has a lot to say about it. >> john: on that front, there are a lot of economists, among them many democrats who say the idea of price controls is a silly idea. we tried that back in the 1970s in the nixon administration and it took a bite out of consumers ability to put food on the table. then you mention jobs, what about revisions that came out today that shows there's almost 1 million fewer jobs created in the year ending march 2024 than initially believed? >> well, two things pure number one, nobody is in favor of price controls. you can't magically make things static. what she is focusing on, enforcement, breaking up monopolies, where there is an abuse of pricing power, like there has been in the pharma

morning this could be bidenomics 2.0. "the wall street journal" editor at large gerry baker joins us. jerry, what do you think about the unveiling of kamala harris' economic plans? has she won you over? >> well, she hasn't really won anyone over. this is not an economic plan. this is a plan to get her through the next four months or three months until the election. nobody really thinks come i hope they don't think it seriously makes sense in an economy like the united states to have the government telling companies what they can charge for prices. talking about grocery chains, you've covered this very well sandra and you know this. it is a political ploy. what i think is most interesting about it, sandra, it demonstrates to me they have decided to run, kamala harris decided to run and all of the evidence from the convention this week, starting to run essentially against joe biden.
10:41 am
she is running against donald trump but the bigger challenges running against joe biden's economic record because unveiling this so-called plan, a deal with prices, is acknowledging the prices have been too high for the last four years. people are very upset about that. she is trying to run against joe biden's regression policy even though she apparently was response before it in part, that campaign and we had last week in which she talked about how she was a tough prosecutor and be tough on the border, probably going to run against joe biden's foreign policy or things like israel and maybe even withdraw from afghanistan. i think it is a political decision which has no real economic merit whatsoever but to demonstrate to somehow get her off the hook of being partially responsible for what has happened over the last few years as joe biden's vice president. i don't think she can do it. i don't think t the american public needs to be fooled but that is the strategy. >> john: kevin o'leary had this take on her strategy and
