3:05 am
involves donald trump elsewhere , involves donald trump elsewhere, the hamiltons neil and christine will join me soon to get stuck into those pro—palestine palestine protests in london. today and who's had the better 2023 rishi sunak or keir starmer 7 2023 rishi sunak or keir starmer ? i'll break that down with two political heavyweights, uh, fairly shortly. and in my take at ten, i'll lay out why the bbc just shouldn't bother bringing little britain back if they're just going to give it a pathetic woke wash. plus, royal scoop gets a kinsey schofield and the latest showbiz gossip is live from the us. on harry and meghan and much more. we've got tomorrow's front pages at 1032. i'll share the best and biggest headunes i'll share the best and biggest headlines as soon as they drop and discuss them with tonight's top panel. the emphatic academic lisa mckenzie, legends radio dj and writer mike reid and the imitable political commentator lin mei get your emails in at gb views gb news. com a big two hours to come. lots of christmas cheer and we start with my big
3:06 am
opinion . first of all, merry opinion. first of all, merry christmas to you and your family. and if you're spending it alone, as i mentioned at the top of the show, as i know many of you will be, i especially send you my warmest wishes at a time of the year when things can feel particularly the feel particularly tough. so the big almost here, it's feel particularly tough. so the bichance almost here, it's feel particularly tough. so the bichance for most here, it's feel particularly tough. so the bichance for us st here, it's feel particularly tough. so the bichance for us to here, it's feel particularly tough. so the bichance for us to regroup it's feel particularly tough. so the bichance for us to regroup after a chance for us to regroup after what been a particularly what has been a particularly challenging year. on the political front, we've seemingly not only lost control of illegal migration, but the tories have allowed more than 700,000 to come here legally , despite our come here legally, despite our housing infrastructure and local services bursting at the seams, our country is changing at a rapid and uncomfortable pace. and i know that's a cause for concern for many of you . concern for many of you. meanwhile, we've been dealing with an onslaught of wars and violence with ukraine, russia and latterly israel, gaza . and and latterly israel, gaza. and just this week we had that terrible news of the census mass shooting in prague, economic plea. we've been savaged by
3:07 am
rising interest rates and the cost of living. that's left us more skint than ever before . for more skint than ever before. for who knew that insane money printing during covid would leave us with crippling inflation every one but the central banks, it seems , and central banks, it seems, and elsewhere, greedy energy companies have jumped on the chance to squeeze every last pound from our already empty wallets by using russia's invasion of ukraine as an excuse wholesale prices, by the way, have collapsed, but our bills are yet to do the same . so look, are yet to do the same. so look, i get it. i understand if you're running a little low on enthusiasm for 2024, but i want to remind you that the worst of life is always magnified in such a way that we're convinced there's no good in the world that the majority of people are bad, the cards are dealt bad, and the cards are dealt against you. but i want to tell you now, it's my belief that it couldn't be further from the truth. we have more in common with each other than not. there's abundance good with each other than not. there'splace)undance good with each other than not. there'splace ondance good with each other than not. there'splace on aince good with each other than not. there'splace on a daily good with each other than not. there'splace on a daily basisi taking place on a daily basis that's being talked about. that's not being talked about. and despite endless headlines of war and violence, i'm bullish on
3:08 am
the world achieving peace in 2024. and i'll tell you why it comes when donald trump will likely win his long awaited return to the white house. there'll be plenty who scoff at that statement and no doubt spit out their muesli as they cry orange man bad. he's off the cuff. he's not everyone's cup of tea. and actually , i'm no fan of tea. and actually, i'm no fan of his performance during covid, his performance during covid, his vaccine programme, all the facts he allowed anthony fauci to the better of him. but to get the better of him. but let's get the facts straight. after four years in office, donald trump proved himself the anti—war president, becoming the first in decades who did not commit the us to more overseas military campaigns. unlike the obama's and bush's before him, trump preferred to use economic might and crippling sanctions to strong arm despots like putin, who threatened to kick off. he was the first ever president to meet a north korean leader and crossed into the demilitarised demilitarised zone , taming so demilitarised zone, taming so called rocketman kim jong un as he got trigger happy with ballistic missiles and he's
3:09 am
already said that he could end the russia—ukraine war within 24 hours if he was president . so hours if he was president. so what's the alternative ? well, what's the alternative? well, britain hating joe biden, who's alleged irish ancestry, leaves him with disdain for our country . he's recently ruled out a free trade agreement with the uk, while this week gave the green light to ireland to try and prosecute our troubles veterans by scuttling off to the echr in 2020, he snubbed an interview with the bbc, snapping the bbc i'm irish, while in may just this year he said his visit to ireland was made to ensure rishi sunak quote didn't screw around with the good friday agreement i think arlene foster was right when she said biden has a, quote, deep hatred of the united kingdom . trump, meanwhile, is kingdom. trump, meanwhile, is the polar opposite a brit loving american whose mother was a fond fan of the late queen and who have us front of the queue for a trade deal . so it's no surprise trade deal. so it's no surprise that the telegraph reported this week that ministers are pinning their hopes on a trump election
3:10 am
victory next year . and with victory next year. and with starmer already seemingly packing his bags for downing street , god knows we and the street, god knows we and the world need him. merry christmas . world need him. merry christmas. right? well, that's what i think. but time now for the thoughts of my top panel tonight i'm joined by the academic lisa mckenzie, radio dj and writer mike read, an nd political commentator. lin mei lisa big, donald trump fan ? donald trump fan? >> no, not really, but the saviour for 2024? no, not really . no, no. but you know, i am an anarchist, so i believe that, uh, political structure teachers are problematic and donald trump is going to come through the same political structure that biden comes through, through the same political structure that the bushes. so so do i think
3:11 am
that donald trump has got big ideas and he would like to do big things? yes yes. but i do also think that the political structures that will bind him in is it he the closest thing to an anarchist we've got in in the political spectrum? >> do you think ? >> do you think? >> do you think? >> mean, he is anarchic. >> um, i mean, he is anarchic. yeah, he is quite anarchic. and i'll be honest, out of all the sort of politicians , you know, sort of politicians, you know, that him versus rishi sunak. yeah. you know, i would probably choose the donald trump . you choose the donald trump. you know, i don't mind his anarchy. i don't mind that. but um, i'm not sure that the world is safe in his hands . not sure that the world is safe in his hands. i also don't think the world is safe in biden's hands, either. >> well, biden i mean, lynn, you were nodding your head during that monologue you that monologue there. did you agree i was saying agree with what i was saying about anti—war president? >> that in such a brilliant >> put that in such a brilliant way. couldn't it way. i couldn't have said it better myself. better than myself. >> fiver >> i'll send you that fiver later the post. later in the post. >> um, later in the post. >> no, seriously, um, i've said this multiple times. this like multiple times. >> there's this like , hatred >> there's this big like, hatred towards were towards trump, but you were absolutely right. there was no war. even though the democrats ,
3:12 am
war. even though the democrats, uh, the opposition, encouraged him to war against iran. him to go to war against iran. and said no , because the and he said no, because the casualties of the civilians will be over 250,000 like we saw with the war. uh, despite people the iraq war. uh, despite people encouraging him to go to war, he said, we're do said, no, what we're going to do is going the is we're going to target the awful like soleimani, awful leaders like soleimani, targeting . and then targeting directly. and then there was no casualties . and there was no casualties. and when people say, you know, oh , when people say, you know, oh, he's racist, he's that he was the only one that actually sat with prior to the, with black leaders prior to the, um, vote . previously, biden um, vote. previously, biden refused to. and he said, you know, i really want to see change within the black community. and he brought manufacturing industry back to america. he saw over 6 million people have their wages increased because of the changes increased because of the changes in did . so i don't in tax. he did. so i don't understand why there is this, uh, do understand because uh, will i do understand because he does say ridiculous he does say some ridiculous things, but i think, like you said, under biden, we're seeing war after after war. i war after war after war. and i just it's sad that the just think it's sad that the courts are fighting tooth and nail make sure that trump is nail to make sure that trump is not on that ballot paper. >> well, in my opinion, >> well, that's, in my opinion, only galvanise his base only going to galvanise his base
3:13 am
for year going rile for next year is going to rile up that maga base. and, uh, no doubt, him doubt, i suspect, propel him to victory in 2024. mike. uh should we should ministers be so bullish on a trump victory? is it right that we need him to help us economically and restore that? >> we do. i mean, we'll get a trade deal with him. >> we wouldn't get with biden. clearly that clearly i'm just confused that the only two options biden the only two options are biden and trump. yeah. in america , and trump. yeah. in america, where you've got thousands of chisel featured young guys of the kennedy clinton ilk that they could put up front and really win some votes that these two monarchs of the glen bellows each other across across the country . it's just country. it's just extraordinary. but country. it'sjust extraordinary. but i hope he does get in for that recently. he loves us. biden doesn't. biden's clearly lost the plot. there is something with there is something wrong with him. is something him. the, uh, there is something wrong something then . >> say something else, then. >> say something else, then. >> what do you think i was going to but to say? but >> often you make life >> but quite often you make life , know, you get you get in , you know, you get you get in and something radical. and you do something radical. the americans do, like trump . the americans do, like trump. they do like him. i mean, when thomas jefferson got he was
3:14 am
thomas jefferson got in, he was radical. said , mr radical. they said, mr president, to increase president, we've got to increase the . no, we lower the the taxes. no, we lower the taxes. we create incentive. uh, so he does something radical. and i think he probably will get back in. but i mean, just the opfion back in. but i mean, just the option of just biden. trump is extraordinary for there were others, but they just weren't strong enough. >> and they just weren't strong enough. >> no, i mean, i mean that that for me, sort of compounds the fact that i'm an anarchist and i'm right about the political system because from the whole of the political system in america, the political system in america, the vastness of the politics there and the depth that the politics goes into people's communities there, because there are all kind of community organisers , you know, it's very organisers, you know, it's very grassroots, have you got any idea who the democrats ? idea who the democrats? >> i'm not sure on your your knowledge on american politics, but put but who the democrats may put up instead sleeping . instead of biden sleeping. >> i don't know. i mean, >> i don't i don't know. i mean, are of, uh, gavin are you aware of, uh, gavin newsom ? newsom? >> don't know who, but i mean, >> i don't know who, but i mean, there must there his deputy surely must step forward now. i mean, she's been she's been no me . no, no, been she's been no me. no, no, but yeah. no, but that's that
3:15 am
would be the order i mean no chance i mean exactly she's been highly unforeseen anywhere. >> i mean also kamala >> but i mean also kamala harris, uh, was , was when she harris, uh, was, was when she was the governor of , of um, was the governor of, of um, i can't remember which state she was a governor she, she imprisoned more, uh, young black men than anybody ever before . men than anybody ever before. so, you know, this is what i'm trying to say. i'm. >> who's in front of her in the queue. >> well, gavin newsom, who's the governor of california, but again, he's sort of, as you mentioned, the sort of the clinton esque ilk you clinton esque ilk where, you know, career politicians, uh, and s everywhere. and and lobbyist s everywhere. and the thing with trump is he's going to be our best bet for a safe and secure ally who genuinely does believe in britain, i think. >> how does keir feel about him, though? >> that's the thing . i mean, >> that's the thing. i mean, that's why. so labour are pretty much on get next much nailed on to get in next yean i much nailed on to get in next year, i just year, aren't they? so i just think have a trump the think if we have a trump in the background britain's think if we have a trump in the backgrou at britain's think if we have a trump in the backgrouat heart, britain's think if we have a trump in the backgrou at heart, he3ritain's interests at heart, he could maybe keep labour. interests at heart, he could ma'there ep labour. interests at heart, he could ma'there mustbour. film >> there must be a few film stars whose on the stars whose career is on the wane, could step in here? wane, who could step in here? >> they talked to, say, dwayne,
3:16 am
um , johnson, didn't they? you um, johnson, didn't they? you know, the rock. on know, the rock. he kept on talking going forward. but talking about going forward. but i've enough of showbiz. i've had enough of showbiz. >> i think if the rock stood, he'd win a landslide. really? he'd win in a landslide. really? yeah. absolutely. yeah. yeah absolutely. he's a he's legend. mean, but he's a big legend. i mean, but what world we are in. what a bizarre world we are in. >> where the best you know, the greatest nation on earth is can only produce. this is a wrestler . yeah. >> trump might may not be everyone's cup of tea, but in actual fact he's going to be the safest of hands. and i safest pair of hands. and i think relies think peace in the west relies on trump winning next on donald trump winning next yeah on donald trump winning next year. right. so moving year. i agree. right. so moving on. stuff. great start to on. great stuff. great start to the show. coming up next in on. great stuff. great start to the bigw. coming up next in on. great stuff. great start to the big story, coming up next in on. great stuff. great start to the big story, starmer up next in on. great stuff. great start to the big story, starmer versust in the big story, starmer versus sunak. the big story, starmer versus sunak . who's having the better sunak. who's having the better christmas . we'll see you just christmas. we'll see you just after this
3:17 am
3:18 am
3:19 am
listening to gb news radio . listening to gb news radio. >> welcome back. >> welcome back. >> you're with me, ben. hope you've stacked up on snacks and dnnks you've stacked up on snacks and drinks for the next two hours. now it's going to be a hell of a yearin now it's going to be a hell of a year in westminster, as labour have in have decisively pulled away in the rishi
3:20 am
the polls to leave rishi sunak scrambling to save his premiership. is a labour government now a given? i'm joined by conservative mp for shrewsbury and atcham, daniel kawczynski and bill rammell, former labour armed forces minister. daniel, i'm going to come to you first. fresh off that trump conversation, who would be best suited to represent britain on the world stage with a trump premiership? sunak or starmer? oh inevitably, uh, mr sunak is better qualified to do that. >> he's he's made tremendous progress during his premiership to make sure that we've joined the world's largest trading bloc, the cptpp, in the far east, which is something that the media don't cover much, but it's going to have profound economic consequences on this country over coming decades. he managed to secure that, and he's also made tremendous progress with the india deal, which is very close to being completed . i very close to being completed. i think he would he would be able to clinch a trade agreement with america if trump was re—elected.
3:21 am
but america is our single largest trading partner as a single entity . and so that's a single entity. and so that's a very important deal to do. >> what did you make of biden last week? refusing to enter into free trade talks with the uk? i mean, is that evidence that he , as arlene foster, has that he, as arlene foster, has said that he has a deep hatred for the uk? >> extremely >> well, it's extremely disappointing and i know that the republicans in the senate and in the congress are very keen to do a trade deal with the united kingdom . i don't think united kingdom. i don't think you can prove that he's anti—british. he did support us. he did support us during the falklands war. yes. so you've got to bear that in mind. but it's very, very disappointing that he's not prepared to do a trade deal at the moment. >> were you were shaking your head there. >> this is hogwash. i mean, donald had years as donald trump had four years as president uk , a us president to get a uk, a us trade deal through. >> and he failed to do it. the stumbling block for such a deal is actually congress, where there's too many politicians who've got vested interests in
3:22 am
the agricultural industry, other industries who are not prepared to make concessions in terms of who's best to handle a trump presidency, which i actually don't think will happen. i think it would be keir starmer because what the international community respects are politicians who are in control of their governments and in control of their. >> do you think starmer would give time of day, though? >> well, whoever's the american president, have but i president, you have to, but i have to say this i don't think trump think trump will win because i think the america the centre ground in america ultimately him. ultimately won't vote for him. but it will abomination but it will be an abomination for someone who still refuses to accept result of the last accept the result of the last presidential become president. >> again, let's focus back on this year. gone then who's this year. just gone then who's had of it? sunak had the better of it? sunak or starmer? actually, um, i've starmer? well actually, um, i've just seen an opinion poll yesterday. >> the latest opinion poll puts us only 14 points behind only. well, i mean bill laughs last week it was 2020. yeah. um and i think very very quickly the british people are starting to see and will increasingly see
3:23 am
the difference between the two men that hope to be prime minister. >> so what is it that's closed that gap then between between 20 or is it inflation. or down. is it inflation. >> well, inflation is obviously the fact he's managed the fact that he's managed to halve. extremely halve. inflation is extremely important. the fact that mortgage are hopefully mortgage rates are hopefully going down year is going to come down next year is also but he has also very important. but he has been proved i would say . i mean, been proved i would say. i mean, i made the mistake of not voting for him and will admit to for him and i will admit to that. i didn't vote for him , but that. i didn't vote for him, but i support him now because unlike his predecessors, he has got a grip on the conservative parliamentary party and on the economy , and he is starting to economy, and he is starting to make managing decisions which are taking root and having real benefits for the united kingdom. and can i just finish by saying this? the problem with the labour party is that that they want to abolish non—dom status and they want to drive away the wealth creators from this country who are already at the exit door with their massive high taxation.
3:24 am
>> well, the daniel, high taxation. >> well, the daniel , the >> well, the daniel, the politics of envy, what do you say to that? >> it's rubbish. i mean, daniel, you're saying that with a straight face. rishi sunak in control party. you're control of his party. you're riven with division across the board. i mean, you know, this is the guy who came in his yo yoed all over the place, said, first of all, he was a technocrat , mr of all, he was a technocrat, mr stability. then he lurched to the right. then he said he was the right. then he said he was the change candidate , and he the change candidate, and he demonstrated that change by bringing david cameron back as foreign secretary. you know, he committed himself to five pledges. he's failing massively on four of them. the only one that he's succeeded on is halving , and that's down to the bank. >> he he has. i know he said he'll stop the boats, but the crossings have halved and some say because of the weather, can we be a generous this we not be a bit generous this christmas give him. we not be a bit generous this christma on, give him. we not be a bit generous this christma on, givon, m. we not be a bit generous this christmaon, givon, daniel. >> hold on, hold on, daniel. generous net migration at 745,000. that's triple the rate it was under the last labour government for the conservative party with any straight face to say that they're on top of
3:25 am
immigration is for the birds. >> daniel james cleverly was having a crack at the having a crack at starmer the other day , saying he's other day, saying that he's going to agree eu quota deal going to agree an eu quota deal in of migrants. but hasn't in terms of migrants. but hasn't bill got a point where, in actual fact, it's you guys that have for 13 years have been in power for 13 years and got legal migration and you've got legal migration spiralling completely out of control when it's under your watch. well the prime minister and the home secretary have announced recent changes to the legal migration quotas in terms of income thresholds and all the rest of it that should have an impact. >> but the very important plea, this is a phenomenon affecting all european countries and whereas illegal migration is going up in countries like italy, germany and others, it's actually gone down down here because of those very successful deals that the prime minister has signed with albania and others. so illegal migration across the channel is already down by a third. and he's also attempting to ensure that, like australia, we have an agreement with another country to send illegal migrants to , in this illegal migrants to, in this
3:26 am
case, rwanda. the labour party have have voted against every single attempt that we have made to ensure that illegal migrants are sent overseas. what you need and they have no alternative opfion and they have no alternative option . their only option is to option. their only option is to engage more with the european union and take a quota from them. >> let's clear the backlog , >> let's clear the backlog, which is ten times higher than it was under the last labour government that acts as a green flag for illegal immigrants to come to the uk and more returns agreement, the like of which we had within the european union. but do you know what? it's not going migration that going to be migration that determines general determines the next general election clinton's former election. bill clinton's former adviser said. it's the economy, stupid . and that's why i'm stupid. and that's why i'm increasingly confident that labour would win, will win. we saw the autumn statement, which confirmed we've got the highest tax burden since the second world war, and one of the most striking statistic to come out of that was during the 13 tory years in government. real incomes have risen by 3% compared to 27% under the last.
3:27 am

earlier on, gb news radio. >> welcome back here with me, ben leo on mark dolan tonight. >> lots of emails coming in. thank you so much for your thoughts. i'm just going to read this direct this one from my phone direct off twitter says hello ben. it's great that you guys great to hear that you guys at gb lonely ones gb news think of us lonely ones at christmas at a very difficult time like to time of year. i'd just like to wish you all and all your viewers a merry christmas. viewers a very merry christmas.
3:34 am
well that's why to well that's why i wanted to mention because christmas we mention it, because christmas we always about family and always bang on about family and food know, are you food and you know, what are you doing? going to your doing? you're going to your in—laws know what are the in—laws or you know what are the kids doing? but actually there's plenty of people who don't have anyone christmas with. plenty of people who don't have anyoni christmas with. plenty of people who don't have anyoni said christmas with. plenty of people who don't have anyoni said at christmas with. plenty of people who don't have anyoni said at the 1ristmas with. plenty of people who don't have anyoni said at the top mas with. plenty of people who don't have anyoni said at the top ofis with. plenty of people who don't have anyoni said at the top of theith. so as i said at the top of the show, glad you're with us show, i'm glad you're with us now hour now for the next hour and a half. if give you half. and if i can give you a bit of christmas cheer, that will certainly achievement will be certainly an achievement . one more it says, hi ben, i'm so pleased you're on tonight's show. of show. you're like a breath of fresh agree you that fresh air. i agree with you that we trump back in the we need donald trump back in the white house. and nigel farage running country only one running this country only one can great stuff right can dream. great stuff right now. it wouldn't be christmas unless we caught up with britain's favourite married couple, christine and neil hamilton , who joined me now. hamilton, who joined me now. evening, guys. have you got a tipple with you ? tipple with you? >> that is the most ridiculous introduction i've ever had. >> yes, of course we've got a tipple with us. >> we've had the family here. >> we've had the family here. >> what are you drinking? >> what are you drinking? >> they arrived on mass day. >> they arrived on mass day. >> i've got the intravenous drip in well , a >> i've got the intravenous drip in well, a good >> i've got the intravenous drip in well , a good stuff. >> i've got the intravenous drip in well,l , a good stuff. >> i've got the intravenous drip in well, look, jood stuff. >> i've got the intravenous drip in well, look, first stuff. >> i've got the intravenous drip in well, look, first up,f. >> i've got the intravenous drip in well, look, first up, we're >> well, look, first up, we're going the story
3:35 am
going to talk about the story that cherry on top that puts the cherry on the top of ridiculous farce . that's of the ridiculous farce. that's the so it's the asylum system. so it's emerged that some migrants have tried to pop home for christmas despite trying to claim asylum in britain . uh, take a look at in britain. uh, take a look at this clip from the chief of the border force . border force. >> thank you . >> thank you. >> thank you. >> oh, that's the wrong clip. give us two seconds. we've got some christmas one today. >> i don't know if we found anyone today, but we do find a lot of people who, for example, have this have claimed asylum in this country and are heading back to their home country for holidays, country and are heading back to their iobviouslyitry for holidays, country and are heading back to their iobviously isn'tyr holidays, country and are heading back to their iobviously isn't allowed. s, which obviously isn't allowed. and we also pick up a lot of other criminality and immigration offences . immigration offences. >> nato i thought it was christmas, not april fool's day . christmas, not april fool's day. is this proof that we're just a complete soft touch when it comes to protecting our borders? >> well, we're taken for a ride, aren't we? >> by millions of these people and we have a completely useless government that has shown zero interest in controlling immigration, legal or illegal, in the last 30 years. bad things
3:36 am
have got worse. far, far worse in the last 13 years than they were in 2010. and last year's figure of nearly three quarters of a million people, net added to our population in 1.3 million visas granted by this conservative government last week, 1.3 million, uh, you know, they've got no interest whatsoever in controlling our borders, and they've only been panicked into taking the half cock measures that were announced in the last three weeks. and yesterday or today, rishi sunak is even reneging on that by, uh, not raising the income level that people are going to have to earn in order to qualify for a visa. he's reduced that back again. so you know, it's a complete waste of time, i think. and i think that, you know, i'm all for these people going abroad on holiday. we've got all these spare tickets going for rwanda. i mean why don't they take those up and have free holidays? as christine
3:37 am
wheel rishi's premiership be saved from the jaws of defeat if he manages to get a rwanda flight off the ground, do you think? >> uh, no . no. think? >> uh, no. no. uh, rishi's premiership is far , far more premiership is far, far more rocky than that. my view is that he will go right to the wire. we'll probably have an election in december, next in december, uh, next year because he'll want to milk it for as long as he can. so what worries me on immigration is , worries me on immigration is, uh, is the. we haven't we have completely failed to get a grip of it in this country. and these last.i of it in this country. and these last. i mean, it's farcical, isn't it? the monty python. oh, i want to go home for the holidays. sorry. thought holidays. i'm sorry. i thought you here because anyway. you were here because anyway. but, you know, 1 in 30 people in the world are migrants. and there . are 280 million, 280 there. are 280 million, 280 million international migrants, which is 3.6% of the global population. now this is a monumental number of people who are on the move. this is going to get worse in 2020. there were
3:38 am
128 million more for 128 million more than there were in 1990. and there were three times more in 1990 than there were in 1970. so this mass movement of people, and they're all going from the poorer countries to the rich countries , is just getting worse countries, is just getting worse and worse . and if we fail to get and worse. and if we fail to get and worse. and if we fail to get a grip on it now, frankly , a grip on it now, when frankly, it's relatively easy, we are finished. i mean, you know , finished. i mean, you know, european court of human rights here we come out. yeah yeah, it's all very well. >> a sunak saying he'll do whatever it takes to stop the boats. but the one thing which would stop the boats getting out of european convention on of the european convention on human un refugee human rights and the un refugee convention, won't even convention, he won't even contemplate so. you know, contemplate doing so. you know, this is all spin and nonsense. >> so, you know , go on. >> so, you know, go on. >> christine , if i hear rishi >> christine, if i hear rishi sunak or indeed any other senior government minister say i will do whatever it takes, i mean, i shall scream because they don't. >> there are obvious things screaming them in the face, and
3:39 am
they don't do it. >> yeah, it kind of feels like the rwanda um, charade is a bit, a bit of a red herring, really, because as you said, neil, when they're legally allowing 700,000 people in each and every year , a people in each and every year, a city the size of birmingham every two years, it's kind of like , you know, tens of like, you know, tens of thousands a year on small boats. yes. they're undocumented. yes we know who they are. we don't know who they are. but in picture in terms of the bigger picture and the future of the country , and the future of the country, 700 k a year under their watch, it leaves you a bit exacerbated. but let's just move on quickly to the scenes from central london today, if you will. pro—palestine marchers, uh, brought oxford street to a standstill as shoppers tried to get some last minute gifts. uh, under wraps in what's tipped to be or what was tipped to be the biggest day of the biggest shopping day of the yean biggest shopping day of the year, as super saturday. year, known as super saturday. neil, why do these people hate our way of life ? our way of life? >> well, it's a good question , >> well, it's a good question, isn't it? because fundamentally , isn't it? because fundamentally, these people have nothing in common with britain, and i don't know what they're doing in this
3:40 am
country to start with. if they think that it you know, our western civilisation is so defective and, you know, why do we allow our streets to be taken over on a regular basis by this mob of apologists for genocide, because that's what they are. you know, hamas are are genocidal lunatics who have made the gaza strip into an armed camp. and they turn even drainpipes into rocket launchers . you know, there is absolutely nothing whatever that you can say to , to extenuate the, uh, say to, to extenuate the, uh, murder and mayhem which hamas , murder and mayhem which hamas, hamas genocidal to. >> sorry, sorry to interrupt . >> sorry, sorry to interrupt. sorry. i said i said the palestinians would accuse israel of being genocidal to just playing devil's advocate. >> israel is israel is defending its right to exist . its right to exist. >> but, you know, it was hamas who attacked israel on october 7, and they're taking out the terrorist infrastructure in gaza. it's a war, and innocent civilians get trapped and get
3:41 am
killed and maimed in war. israel is not deliberately targeting the civilian population of gaza . the civilian population of gaza. of course, war is horrible, but but what's the answer ? the but what's the answer? the answer is, if you leave hamas in place , they'll just repeat place, they'll just repeat what's happened in the past. yeah, they're completely unprepared . unprepared. >> about october the 7th, hamas no doubt needs to be destroyed. christine. just going back to these protests today in london, apparently met approved it. apparently the met approved it. they was happening. they knew this was happening. they knew this was happening. they allowed it happen. they allowed it to happen. what's behind that? what's the thinking behind that? on the busiest shopping day of the they the year, have they made a massive here? met massive blunder here? the met and also why didn't they drag them so we on. them so we go on. >> not saying they've made >> i'm not saying they've made a massive blunder, but i mean the met with met are. one problem with the met are. one problem with the met lack experience met is that they lack experience and think got this right. and i think i've got this right. that one third of people in the met, one third of metropolitan police have than police officers, have less than four experience . so the four years experience. so the older policemen aren't there , older policemen aren't there, the younger ones are there. they can't . what can one can't cope. what can one policeman in the face of
3:42 am
policeman do in the face of a huge great mob? you know, it is difficult. i have some sympathy for the met, but they should never have allowed them to start marching in the first place. they never have allowed marching in the first place. they to never have allowed marching in the first place. they to get never have allowed marching in the first place. they to get to ver have allowed marching in the first place. they to get to ver havstreet ned marching in the first place. they to get to ver havstreet .ad marching in the first place. they to get to ver havstreet . we them to get to oxford street. we should police and the should keep the police and the marchers need to be kept apart. once they are together. there is precious little the police can do. know , just to go do. but you know, just to go back to the whole palestine, um, gaza, can. very briefly, gaza, if you can. very briefly, there's a quote from golda meir where she says, if the arabs put down their arms, there will be no fighting. if israel puts down her arms , there will be no her arms, there will be no israel . that her arms, there will be no israel. that is what her arms, there will be no israel . that is what they're israel. that is what they're fighting for. >> yeah. the i mean, the growing consensusis >> yeah. the i mean, the growing consensus is from from joe biden a couple of weeks ago from ben wallace, uh, earlier this week. and of course , lord cameron in a and of course, lord cameron in a joint letter with germany . joint letter with germany. they're all now calling for you know, somewhat of a ceasefire. so all eyes that. but, uh, so all eyes on that. but, uh, christine , neil hamilton, thank christine, neil hamilton, thank you much. have a drink for you so much. have a drink for me, you will. and, uh, me, if you will. and, uh, wishing you a very merry

christmas this year and a happy new year and happy new year. new year and a happy new year. >> and you're doing a great job, ben. >> more strength to you. thank you. >> you're very kind. christmas cheer coming up in my take at ten. i'll tell you why. the bbc shouldn't with the return shouldn't bother with the return of little britain . if it's going of little britain. if it's going to water down the jokes over fears people. but fears they'll offend people. but first i a business raising first i meet a business raising awareness of homelessness with a canny idea to spark up people's homes. next. but first,

weather. welcome back. you're with me, ben lio on mark dolan. but first, here comes ben meets . first, here comes ben meets. right. this is ben meets, in which i speak to the biggest names in the world of politics, showbiz, sports , business and showbiz, sports, business and beyond. joining me tonight are tom and kerry , who run christmas tom and kerry, who run christmas business snow windows, which
3:47 am
spruces up boring windows on houses and buildings with creative festive macs overs. they've worked with the homeless charity crisis to create a design for a string of their shop stores, including one in muswell hill in north london. there they designed one window with the poignant message of life beyond homelessness . i'm life beyond homelessness. i'm delighted to say kerry joins me now. kerry evening. tell me how this all started. it was always your intention to team up with homeless charities . um your intention to team up with homeless charities. um no. >> well, i must firstly send my apologies for tom. he's out doing some last minute christmas food shopping, so he's not actually sat next to me right now . um, tom actually sat next to me right now. um, tom is an artist. he uses snow spray to create scenes on windows, which doesn't sound too impressive live as i speak about it, but i'm sure your viewers will see some of tom's work . um, hopefully you've got work. um, hopefully you've got some on the on the screen there . some on the on the screen there. um, he basically designed a
3:48 am
window a couple of years ago locally , and he created a, a locally, and he created a, a what appeared to be a homeless snowman sat on the floor and a little girl snowman walking past him, giving him a christmas card . that video went viral on facebook, and we had over 24 million views of that video . so million views of that video. so wow. i then sort of said to tom, hang on a minute , what if hang on a minute, what if everybody that watched that video gave £1, pound to for a homeless charity , um, just for homeless charity, um, just for the privilege of watching you create your artwork? uh that then led me to approaching crisis because as their, their to me personally , the charity to me personally, the charity that i would donate to at christmas and it's something that we always think about homeless people. you just think crisis at christmas. don't you? so i contacted crisis and said, hey, look, would you be interested in working with us? um, which they said, yes. and this year we've been doing a campaign whereby tom has done
3:49 am
designs in each of their charity shops throughout london, which culminated on on the 14th of december, which was their muswell hill store opening . so muswell hill store opening. so tom was there doing a live install . install. >> why is homelessness and also loneliness that i've been talking about tonight? why is it such a problem at christmas ? i such a problem at christmas? i don't know, like christmas to me is all about sort of giving and appreciating the people that are around you. >> and i guess if you're in that predicament, it's just >> and i guess if you're in that predicament , it's just awful to predicament, it's just awful to think that you don't have anyone around you and that you know, it breaks my heart that people will just walk past someone you know, male, female , young, old, on the male, female, young, old, on the street , freezing cold and not street, freezing cold and not not offer help in any way. i mean, you know, we're most of us are very privileged in this country to be able to have food , country to be able to have food, water and warmth. and there are people out there that aren't. and i think there's so many
3:50 am
luxuries we have day to day luxuries that we have day to day that we could forgo . so to give that we could forgo. so to give someone the support that they need. >> charleton excuse me, i was saying earlier , um, today that, saying earlier, um, today that, you know , i'm not ultra you know, i'm not ultra religious, but i think christmas presents a time and we're forgetting about it a lot. but christmas presents a time where, you you can be grateful you know, you can be grateful for what got . and it's for what you've got. and it's not all about materialism and going out and splashing loads of money presents. and also, you money on presents. and also, you know , getting completely know, getting getting completely drunk head. um, do drunk out of your head. um, do you we forget about you think that we forget about those privileged christmas those less privileged christmas time, or are we too sucked into this whole sort of corporate version of christmas that we now deal with year on year ? deal with year on year? >> i think some are , but i think >> i think some are, but i think majority of the british public are quite a lot more. >> consider sort of these kind of things around christmas . i of things around christmas. i think it's a it's an absolute crying shame that we're not considerate of it the rest of the year. but you know, i think at christmas we're more likely to give donations to people
3:51 am
asking for sort of, you know, a charity event or something like that. we're more likely to knock on our neighbour's door and give them a bottle of wine or a christmas card, or reach out . christmas card, or reach out. you know, we get bad weather at christmas time if we get snow and things like that in the new yean and things like that in the new year, we're quite likely to knock on a neighbour's door and say, do you need anything? i'm nipping shop, but nipping down the shop, but the rest don't it. rest of the year we don't do it. we think about it because we don't think about it because we're getting on we're just so busy getting on with our lives. >> so you're it sounds >> okay, so you're it sounds like you're doing a great job. the pictures look amazing . and the pictures look amazing. and of know anything of course, you know anything towards , especially towards charity, especially at this year to be this time of year is to be commended. so from snow commended. so kerry from snow windows, much . windows, thank you so much. quickly to my panel. very brief. we've got a minute to go eddie. heartwarming christmas stories we've got a minute to go eddie. hearyou ming christmas stories we've got a minute to go eddie. hearyou cang christmas stories we've got a minute to go eddie. hearyou can conjurenas stories we've got a minute to go eddie. hearyou can conjure up; stories that you can conjure up from your past. >> got one from now i've >> well, i got one from now i've got artist in got a friend. he's an artist in nottingham . he took a photograph nottingham. he took a photograph two weeks ago two homeless two weeks ago of two homeless people . he. he then, um, sort of people. he. he then, um, sort of painted them. and then he said he put on facebook , i'm going to he put on facebook, i'm going to raffle it off and he's got 2500

each other. we know the king has met. we've seen that the king has archie . there are photos has met archie. there are photos of the king archie . we of the king with archie. we haven't photos with haven't seen any photos with lili, but lili has been over there. um, so i assume that lili's met the king but you're right. thomas markle has never met his grandchildren, and meghan has cut thomas markle off for doing exactly what harry and meghan have done over the last three years. oversharing about private details about their family, etc. so, uh, you know, point well made . point well made. >> um, okay, let's just move on to, uh, to a bit of politics. joe biden's approval rating is in the dumps. what's the latest on that front ? on that front? >> well, i heard your monologue off the top, so i'm sure you're shocked to hear this. um, but president joe biden, he's ending 2023 with a lower approval rating than any of the seven presidents before him. um, at this point of the year, that's 39, which is slightly tragic ,
4:25 am
39, which is slightly tragic, actually an improvement from october and november, when his approval rating was only 37. these are the are not the types of numbers that you're looking for heading into a really aggressive campaign season. so all eyes on donald trump to see what happens next based on, you know , everything going on with know, everything going on with all the all the trials and trying to push back a lot of these issues , um, you know, but these issues, um, you know, but not great numbers for biden. >> i just can't see how biden will be their nominee. i mean, i'll be surprised if he even makes it, you know, to the, uh, to the debates for example. um, but look , kinsey, let's just but look, kinsey, let's just finish just up the stairs . finish just up the stairs. >> yeah, exactly. i'm not even sure it the sure he'll make it up the stairs. >> actually, all trump needs >> and actually, all trump needs to do, aside from all court to do, aside from all the court cases things, just kind cases and things, is just kind of doing now. keep of do what he's doing now. keep a low profile. doesn't a semi low profile. he doesn't need up to the debates, need to turn up to the debates, doesn't anything or doesn't need to do anything or say because he's say anything stupid because he's so far ahead polls. and so far ahead in the polls. and actually, what a lot of actually, that's what a lot of people over here are saying
4:26 am
about so about keir starmer. he's so far ahead just do what ahead in the polls just do what biden did just go and bury biden did and just go and bury yourself basement. yourself in the basement. uh, for months, and then for a couple of months, and then hopefully out, um, hopefully you'll come out, um, lead world. um, lead of the free world. um, kinsey, one last thing. this year's christmas number one has been revealed. uh, it's wham's last christmas , ironically, um , last christmas, ironically, um, uh, a couple of years. how long has it been since george michael died ? is it 2016? died? is it 2016? >> it's been. >> it's been. >> it's been almost 40 years since this song came out. i think that's what's the wild story, is that this is it reached. it finally reached number one after almost 40 years after. do you know it's christmas, which also featured george michael kept it from the number one spot in 1984. i bet you weren't born then, based on that babyface . but, um, last that babyface. but, um, last christmas it almost made the top spot. it in 2022. however, it wasn't meant to be something special about christmas 2023. >> amazing . i special about christmas 2023. >> amazing. i was special about christmas 2023. >> amazing . i was actually born >> amazing. i was actually born in 89, so not too far off. i bet you i bet you thought i was born

a lot later. but i'm not that young. i know. look, it. i remember working actually on when i was at the sun newspaper. i was doing the graveyard shift on there was only on christmas day. there was only two news desk two of us on news desk when george 2016. um we were george died in 2016. um we were expecting all the typical sort of christmas births and, you know, charity opening stories. but george unfortunately died, and we spent the whole day writing spread after spread about and whami and all about his life and whami and all his successes. never forget his successes. i'll never forget that but kinsey that christmas. um, but kinsey schofield live in us very schofield live in the us very much appreciate you being with us. stuff as always. much us. great stuff as always. much appreciated . um, and yeah, all appreciated. um, and yeah, all eyes next year on harry and meghan. they're calling a meghan. they're calling it a year whatever year of redemption. um, whatever that means. but i think it just means instead of means that instead of apologising the royal family, apologising to the royal family, they'll spruce up they'll be trying to spruce up their pr efforts. coming up their pr efforts. but coming up still in tonight's show, more of the newspaper front pages from tomorrow and live reaction in the studio from tonight's top pundits. be pundits. and there'll be nominating their greatest britons and ed union jackasses. but first, we have three amazing pnzes but first, we have three amazing prizes guaranteed to be won by

tomorrow's front pages. very interesting story on the front of the sunday times. reform uk says it will challenge every seat in the next general election next year. uh leader richard tice of this parish , of richard tice of this parish, of course. he says he's selected 440 candidates already and intends to go for every seat apart from those in northern ireland. guys reform uk . are ireland. guys reform uk. are they a busted flush? are they just going to be handing the keys to starmer? mike reid um , keys to starmer? mike reid um, i'm not sure they are. >> i mean, i think it's always room for another party. there's always room more opinions. always room for more opinions. the system flip flops. the two party system flip flops. one gets in, blames the other. well, we're spending years on doing what they did. you know, you the same old stories doing what they did. you know, you time. same old stories doing what they did. you know, you time. lame old stories doing what they did. you know, you time. i thinkyld stories doing what they did. you know, you time. i think it's;tories doing what they did. you know, you time. i think it's healthy every time. i think it's healthy to more than two parties. to have more than two parties. two parties, really unhealthy situation , i think. if it's situation, i think. so if it's never bad. i mean, if you look at ukip and the european elections, they came first and no one was expecting that. so you never know quite how people
4:33 am
are thinking, whether they are fed up with the two party system, whether they want something fresh, something something fresh, want something new, whether reform will indeed bnng new, whether reform will indeed bring be another party bring that or be another party like other two, who knows? like the other two, who knows? >> of course, one that >> ukip of course, one that european election was 20 european election was at 20 1516. was it 1460? >> i think 16. >> i think 16. >> yeah . yes, of course that's >> yeah. yes, of course that's based on pr and ukip got 4 million votes in the 2015 general election and got one seat, which nigel farage even today says he's still, you know, so yeah, yeah, so bitter about. yeah, yeah, yeah reform unless we do yeah surely reform unless we do move to a pr system , don't move to a pr system, don't really chance of making really have a chance of making good inroads in. >> that's right. system >> that's right. no, the system is it. system is is against it. the system is against a new party. >> that's we systemic >> that's why we need systemic change. system change. because the system doesn't allow. i mean, not that i would. i would vote for reform . i mean, i don't vote i'm a monarchist , i don't vote. i monarchist, i don't vote. i think the system is so corrupted and corrupting that. so what? >> we're pleased you then, lisa. >> we're pleased you then, lisa. >> well, what would please me? >> well, what would please me? >> i don't know, i think the best what could happen through this system is that there is no
4:34 am
overall winner , there's no overall winner, there's no overall winner, there's no overall party, and somehow they've got to kind of fight it out themselves. i'd like to see them literally fight it out . them literally fight it out. >> it sounds like a mess. >> it sounds like a mess. >> it sounds like a bit of a mess, a cage but ufc , oh, mess, a cage match. but ufc, oh, don't know. >> i'm not sure that. that >> i'm not sure about that. that model you've got there. model that you've got there. i just there be just think that there would be no because no order whatsoever because there'd factions there'd be all these factions owns that suggested. but owns that you suggested. but that's where are. that's where we are. >> i mean, already like >> i mean, we're already like that, in the two that, but it's in the two different parties. >> don't the >> why don't you form the anarchy party? >> can't that. >> because we can't do that. because don't we because we. no, we don't we don't don't system don't. we don't want the system as is . as it is. >> f- f— as it is. >> know about reform, >> i don't know about reform, though. actually supported, though. i actually supported, voted, went to a lot of their rallies they brexit rallies when they were brexit party. the vibrant party. and i liked the vibrant see they had i liked the new energy that they were bringing to politics. but under richard tice i don't know. i don't know if it's bad to say this, but he just comes across me like you just comes across to me like you know, a car salesman. know, a dodgy car salesman. >> good guy, richard. know, a dodgy car salesman. >> no good guy, richard. know, a dodgy car salesman. >> no , good guy, richard. know, a dodgy car salesman. >> no , he's good guy, richard. know, a dodgy car salesman. >> no , he's probably|y, richard. know, a dodgy car salesman. >> no , he's probably a richard. know, a dodgy car salesman. >> no , he's probably a lovely d. >> no, he's probably a lovely quy- >> no, he's probably a lovely guy. but i'm saying, don't guy. but i'm saying, i don't believe people are believe that the people are behind were nigel farage. >> and nigel is an honorary
4:35 am
president of reform and background is business. if he if he reminds you of a businessman, will you vote for him? >> will you vote for reform? >> will you vote for reform? >> i i'm probably not going to bother i'm more leaning bother voting. i'm more leaning towards anarchy. i just don't i don't see the point. i think there's a cigarette paper between the tories and labour, so see the so i just don't really see the point point. point at the moment. no point. um, move this um, should we move on to this next story on the front the next story on the front of the telegraph? sunday telegraph? so, uh, the sunday telegraph has an interview with, as cameron , as he's known now, lord cameron, uh, in his first, uh, sit down chat since returning to frontline politics. so he's told the paper that iran must be sent an incredibly clear message that this escalation will not be tolerated. he's also said that when rishi sunak asked him to do the job, his instant reaction was to say yes. we mentioned a bit earlier that my cabbie said that he'd only voted for the tories if cameron came back, lisa, is there any chance of that happening? and also is his appointment just a clear sign of desperation no it desperation from sunak? no it cameron's coming back . cameron's not coming back. >> he's coming back for this one
4:36 am
particular and he's been particular thing and he's been knighted for it. um and he's not coming back on the stage . i coming back on the stage. i don't think there's anything that the tories can actually do. actually, i just to stop the labour train, i don't think there's anything that they're going although do kind going to do, although i do kind of him on this, on of agree with him on this, on iran . it's always how iran. it's always shocks me how the british left never , um, have the british left never, um, have supported the women in iran. um the sort of freedom , you know, the sort of freedom, you know, the sort of freedom, you know, the freedom movements of women in of women's. i'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. >> go on. lynn. unfortunately i think we're looking through a western lens. in no way am i here to support, um, iran or the rebels that are doing what they're doing in the red sea. however if you look at a lot of countries as they're seeing this as , uh, no aid is getting as, uh, no aid is getting through to gaza at the moment, we're seeing what israel's doing unfettered . no one's stopping unfettered. no one's stopping them. the us are, you know, tiptoeing around them. so if they're essentially saying we're going target israeli cargo going to target israeli cargo ships you let aid through,
4:37 am
ships until you let aid through, then you can see why a lot of then you can see why a lot of the world actually support them. so think we're looking through so i think we're looking through a lens to say, iran are a western lens to say, iran are this big, this big bad , you this big, this big bad, you know, country and state. tehran but you have to look at why they're doing what they're doing to a degree . yeah. to a degree. yeah. >> and what you got, you got cameron out who has cameron going out there who has actually experience since actually no experience since really area . well, i really in that area. well, i mean, he was a former prime minister. yeah i know, but i mean, he's not he's not experienced in foreign experienced in these foreign affairs. is is he the affairs. i mean, is he is he the person to go out there do person to go out there and do it? have passion for it? does he have a passion for it? does he have a passion for it? back. but it? they brought him back. but does passion it? does he have a passion for it? is he good it? um, don't know. >> they're gearing a war. >> they're gearing up for a war. and i agree with you. what you said well, said after the war. uh, well, there's lots discussion there's been lots of discussion about, you know, let's potentially, wouldn't about, you know, let's potsurprised wouldn't about, you know, let's potsurprised if wouldn't about, you know, let's potsurprised if it wouldn't about, you know, let's potsurprised if it was/ouldn't about, you know, let's potsurprised if it was/oulthe be surprised if it was on the cards to try attack or cards to try and attack or invade and that's why i do invade iran. and that's why i do want to see trump, because i think he put a stop to it. yeah. >> i mean, obviously the >> i mean, that's obviously the long get a clinton type, >> i mean, that's obviously the longcharacterat a clinton type, >> i mean, that's obviously the longcharacter there linton type, >> i mean, that's obviously the longcharacter there inton type, >> i mean, that's obviously the longcharacter there in the type, >> i mean, that's obviously the longcharacter there in the white uh, character there in the white house, that's a long fear that iran is next on, uh, on the invasion list. and of course,
4:38 am
donald trump, he sees it donald trump, um, he sees it coming a mile off. i mean, he was the one to kind of scuttle that the deal that that scupper the awful deal that they iran. obama they agreed with iran. obama agreed years. agreed with iran many years. >> . >> exactly. >> exactly. >> surprises me, >> it always surprises me, though, , i because though, that, i mean, because when i understand about the when i do understand about the sort gaza or the sort of israel, gaza or the israel hamas are war, but why does the left never have never supported the iranian women? you know? well but is it you know what? >> it's funny because we're coming back to trump here. trump said this, and can google said this, and you can google this speaks about women said this, and you can google thiburqas speaks about women said this, and you can google thiburqas sniqabsabout women said this, and you can google thiburqas sniqabs wear women said this, and you can google thiburqas sniqabs wear the hen in burqas and niqabs wear the veil. i don't agree with that. it's wahhabi ism. it's not even really relatable to islam. however what trump said was, if they want to do that in their country, why are we even getting involved? that's up to them. what? why are we placing or projecting western ideology projecting our western ideology on iran? leave them to it. >> right. shall we move on to the rest of the papers, mate? on sunday, headline eco sunday, uh, headline eco activist king's green christmas day message. so charles puts sustainability at the heart of his annual address beside palace

tree, adorned with environmentally friendly decorations. charles i wish he would just kind of follow the example of his of his late mother and, you know, not get involved in this kind of stuff. uh, next is the independent, uh, top doctors warn of critical breast cancer care crisis. the sunday express says, have we got that? don't let scrooge's drag you down. and the daily star , you down. and the daily star, uh, typically comedic front page there from the star. uh mamma miai viewers say tv show helps their autistic kids. mrs. brown's boys . actually, that's brown's boys. actually, that's one of my mom's favourites. so she'll be pleased with that. and the observer final one. what have uh, assisted dying have we got? uh, assisted dying former chiefs join calls former health chiefs join calls former health chiefs join calls for new law. that, of course, comes after esther rantzen revealed this week that she was planning to go to dignitas. revealed this week that she was planning to go to dignitas . um. planning to go to dignitas. um. lynn assisted dying. is it something that we should be having a better conversation about ? about? >> i do think we need to have a
4:40 am
conversation about it, but there's more people now that's coming out who wanted to , um, coming out who wanted to, um, uh, have assisted dying and they now are happy that it hasn't been because they would have regretted it. obviously, they wouldn't be here, but i think we have to be really careful because of people will, because a lot of people will, um, won't use this for the good, and they could manipulate people that are vulnerable. whether that's for to gain inheritance or whatever the case may be. i think we have to tread really carefully, i don't think we carefully, but i don't think we should completely disregard people saying, i'm not people who are saying, i'm not having any quality of life. i hate it here. i really want to 90, go, lisa. >> wouldn't treat , uh, dogs >> we wouldn't treat, uh, dogs in way, but yet, you know, in that way, but yet, you know, when it comes to human beings , when it comes to human beings, we the moment, we have to. at the moment, people esther ransom will people like esther ransom will have dignitas in have to go to dignitas in switzerland. cough up 15 k for the privilege die by the privilege and die by themselves. >> i think we've got to >> yeah, i think we've got to have conversation about have a better conversation about this. think we have this this. and i think we have this conversation constantly , but conversation constantly, but nothing seems to be done. i think with what has happened in canada over the last few years with, with it's gone beyond
4:41 am
assisted dying. i think it's kind of that's kind of like a warning, mike, where do you stand on this? >> it's a bit like hanging if you get wrong. you it you get it wrong. you get it very there go. there very wrong. there we go. there we the we go. that's the that's the thing. and i totally agree with you. dying you. i mean, the assisted dying thing. if somebody says, oh, well, she wanted . i've well, it's what she wanted. i've spoken and what spoken to her and it's what they wanted. inheritance people wanted. so inheritance people playing a very , playing the game, it's a very, very, very area. i guess very, very dodgy area. i guess it's a nuanced to it's quite a nuanced it needs to be nuanced discussion where, be a nuanced discussion where, you know, you need some, some gatekeepers. >> , assessing people's >> uh, assessing people's cognitive ability. you can't just be a free for all where if you fancy dying, if you're depressed and you fancy there should be stages. yeah, yeah. >> people's of >> and also people's religion of course. it is a cry. in many course. uh, it is a cry. in many religions it is a crime. yeah. so your religious beliefs come into it as well. >> lisa mckenzie , mike reid, lin >> lisa mckenzie, mike reid, lin mei, thank you so much. coming up, tomorrow's newspaper up, more of tomorrow's newspaper front pages live reaction in front pages and live reaction in the studio from my top panellists and they'll be nominating their greatest britons and union jackasses. see you in a second.

charles king's speech um, who is not going to be taking a leaf out of his mother's book and not revealing his political allegiances or thoughts. he's going to use it to put sustainability at the heart of his annual address . um, mike his annual address. um, mike read , does charles need to just read, does charles need to just stop this kind of political meddling and get on with the job and follow his mother's example ? and follow his mother's example? >> you can be your >> i don't think you can be your mother or your father. i mother or be your father. i think you and i think think you are. you and i think that's been him. that's always been part of him. he's always been rather green. um, he's put a lot into charity. i've always been an ambassador for the prince's trust for a long time, and he's helped a lot of young people, a lot of businesses. so he's very good. of young people, a lot of buzheesses. so he's very good. of young people, a lot of buzhe he's. so he's very good. of young people, a lot of buzhe he's his he's very good. of young people, a lot of buzhe he's his own very good. of young people, a lot of buzhe he's his own man. good. of young people, a lot of buzhe he's his own man. iood. of young people, a lot of buzhe he's his own man. i think so he he's his own man. i think the queen was with us for so long. we tend to say he should be more like the queen, but he's got to be him. whatever that is. and i think he's being honest to himself. >> lisa, as as an anarchist, i can probably guess what your thoughts the monarchy, thoughts are on the monarchy, but charles risking public but it is charles risking public perception the monarchy, you

perception of the monarchy, you know, crashing to the ground with. >> no, i mean, look, i think everybody knows who king charles is. we've we've known him for i mean, forever because he sat and waited forever for this, this job. so i think nobody surprised at what he's saying and what he's doing. um do i think people care ? i don't think they care, care? i don't think they care, actually . i actually don't think actually. i actually don't think people care . lynn. people care. lynn. >> thoughts on charles? should he keep it shut the first time? >> when i was younger, the first time i kind of realised he was this green sort of eco king, um, was to talk to his was was he used to talk to his plants, he? then plants, didn't he? but then now i think the tone is off and i just think the tone is off and he's he's out of touch. the royal family are trying to be more with more in touch with the population , and think just population, and i think to just bang green initiatives bang on about green initiatives and when the country and agendas when the country essentially is on bottom . yeah. >> so not only has this story come out tomorrow, but earlier today , um, charles apparently is today, um, charles apparently is going to be knighting the archbishop of canterbury, justin welby, for his, quote, personal service to the crown. that's
4:48 am
according to the daily mail. this makes it the only the second time in history that a serving leader of the church of england received the honour. england has received the honour. however, his future knighthood england has received the honour. how been his future knighthood england has received the honour. how been his futu1be1nighthood has been seen to be controversial to some, with his his attacks on conservative lives. he's also been called the archbishop of woke um and also in 2021, i mean, just one of welby's blunders. he compared climate change to the holocaust. mike read is welby deserving of a knighthood ? a knighthood? >> i think he gets it because he's he crowned king charles. uh, geoffrey fisher got it for crowning queen elizabeth in 53. he was the last one to be knighted. and i think, um, what's randall randall davison, who crowned george the fifth? i think he became a baron as well. so i think it's one of those things that happens. >> lynn, the archbishop of woke, i don't know, i don't really like to see, uh, religious leaders , so to speak, get leaders, so to speak, get heavily involved. >> he's just doing job, >> he's just doing his job, isn't welby? >> he's just doing his job, isn'yeah welby? >> he's just doing his job, isn'yeah .ielby? >> yeah. >> yeah. >> why he getting involved in >> why is he getting involved in politics what? >> why is he getting involved in polan; what?
