10:07 am
the back of a van and then went on to create a legacy in the united kingdom of leaving behind victims of crime because he was convicted of sexual assault. he was convicted of indecent exposure and of course wanted for that dreadful attack. the injured so many people and still leaves a 31 year old mother. so seriously injured in hospital , seriously injured in hospital, all that worthless , vile all that worthless, vile individual is dead. he went into the river thames and he's drowned . he's dead. whether his drowned. he's dead. whether his body will ever be recovered or be a matter for old father thames. because the rivers as big and as tidal as the thames are often very slow to give up their secrets. now, obviously , their secrets. now, obviously, for the people that have been attacked and for their friends and family and everyone that's been involved in this, they're going to. >> are they not going to be questioning well, questioning this, saying, well, if found, you if there's no body found, you know, do we know he's still know, how do we know he's still not out there? how we know
10:08 am
not out there? how do we know he's being hidden by his he's not being hidden by his family? know, it almost. is family? you know, it almost. is it convenient for the police to say has happened? say that this has happened? >> evidence and >> or the cctv evidence and other around the hunt other evidence around the hunt for is conclusive. and for ezedi is conclusive. and what this case actually shows , what this case actually shows, because of course, we've been used in the last 20, 30 years of seeing images of people on cctv or seeing crime being committed on cctv. what this case actually shows is the importance of sometimes not seeing anything on cctv. so not getting a sighting, which is unusual and sometimes the public sort of struggle to grasp that a little bit. and what i mean by that is ezedi is indisputably seen to go on to chelsea bridge and seen to lean over the railings . having been over the railings. having been travelling around for london about four hours after the attack and thereafter thorough , attack and thereafter thorough, exhaustive examination of cctv systems at both ends of the
10:09 am
bndge systems at both ends of the bridge have no further sightings, so there can be only one conclusion drawn from that, and that is the cowardly, pathetic , vile ezedi has chosen pathetic, vile ezedi has chosen to end his own life by going into the river thames. >> from your experience, what can you read from the cctv images that we can see on our screen now? what do you take from his body language? what do you take from his demeanour? because as you just referenced there, movements very there, his movements were very strange, that strange, weren't they? that evening in north london. evening he was in north london. then went to tower then he went down to tower bridge east and then he makes bridge in east and then he makes his way west. he doesn't seem to know where he's going. yeah, he got train up to got the underground train up to nonh got the underground train up to north london and was seen in tesco's at caledonian road buying what for him. >> expect was a very much >> i expect was a very much needed bottle of water. had needed bottle of water. he had a significant injury which had occurred during this corrosive substance attack. so clearly a man in considerable pain. i
10:10 am
would have imagined . he gets an would have imagined. he gets an underground tube back and eventually comes out at tower hill, which is virtually on the north side of the river thames, very close to the thames, and thereafter he walks and he crosses westminster bridge . he crosses westminster bridge. he crosses westminster bridge. he crosses vauxhall bridge and finally he's seen to go on to chelsea bridge and of course not come off that . and that is come off that. and that is because he's dead now. this has caused some of the conspiracy theorists to run rampant this morning after i'd said this, some people with very little experience , if any of police experience, if any of police investigate and examining cctv , investigate and examining cctv, tv are suggesting ludicra stuff like there would have been a boat waiting for him. well, trust me , he's not sitting on trust me, he's not sitting on a beach in the south of france with a cigar in one hand and a pina colada in the other, and nor is he bobbing around on the top of the thames like a fluffy dumpling on top of a stew. because the river is tidal and
10:11 am
it's dangerous . an olympic it's dangerous. an olympic swimmer would probably not survive the thames in february. >> that's a good point. i mean, people have said that to me. they said, how do you know he didn't swim or, you know, but that's a good point, i guess, for lot of people, because for a lot of people, because they're a physical they're not seeing a physical body. haven't that body. they haven't seen that they're questioning. they're there questioning. >> . rivers, seas , oceans >> yes. but rivers, seas, oceans are sometimes very slow to give up their secrets . yeah. in fact, up their secrets. yeah. in fact, there is considerable silt and debns there is considerable silt and debris on the bottom of the river thames and a close aged body could become trapped on something at the bottom. and potentially never surface . of potentially never surface. of course, for everyone concerned about this and particularly for the victims, i hope that a body is found and that an indisputable conclusion can be met and the conspiracy theorists can perhaps direct their anger towards the home office, who allowed this man to be in this country, this convicted sex

offender, and maybe they could speak to the member of the clergy who was naive enough to believe that he'd converted to christianity . christianity. >> okay, peter bleksley, very good to see you this morning. thank you very much indeed. now, you are not going to want to miss this. the prime minister, rishi sunak, is to appear exclusively on the gb news people's forum on monday. it's going to be an hour long q&a on the issues that matter most to you. let's hear what he has to say. >> hi, rishi sunak here. join me for a special gb news people's forum live on monday the 12th of february. i want to hear about the issues that matter to you for your chance to be part of the audience and to put your questions to me. scan the qr code on screen or go to gb news. com see you there . com see you there. >> this monday, the prime minister will take part in a special people's forum live on gb news in the north east of england. >> yes, and if you want to be there, head to gb news. com forward slash pm to register

your interest today or you can scan the qr code on your screens now . now to look through the top now. now to look through the top stories of today. we are delighted to be joined by author and broadcaster nichi hodgson and broadcaster nichi hodgson and the comedian bruce devlin . and the comedian bruce devlin. really good to see you both. this morning. loads of huge stories out this week that we want to get into. um, let's talk about biden, shall we? first, president biden, nikki , you're president biden, nikki, you're across this story, aren't you? this is all off the back of special counsel robert herr's report , um, which essentially report, um, which essentially describes biden as an elderly man with a poor memory is going to be pretty damaging, isn't it? really >> it's pretty damning if you're an american president. i mean, you know, the problem is in the west, we don't really value age. west, we don't really value age. we don't value wisdom, and we don't value it in our politicians. we like young, fit people got lots of people that have got lots of vigour of energy. and, vigour and lots of energy. and, uh, know, biden's competence uh, you know, biden's competence has in question for has been, uh, in question for quite you know, quite a while now. you know, he's forget forgets basic he's forget forgets quite basic things. stairs,
10:14 am
things. he trips over stairs, etc, so yeah, of course etc, etc. um, so yeah, of course this is, this is kind of this card being played. know, card being played. you know, obviously the republicans are going love this because going to love this because that just of gives them the just kind of gives them the argument that that's why donald trump is, is more fit for office. but would just like office. but i would just like to point do all remember point out, do we all remember when trump confused the when donald trump confused the woman successfully woman that successfully sued him for with ex—wife? for raping her with his ex—wife? i was quite a big i thought that was quite a big mistake too, and not the kind of incompetency that i would like to leader. to see in a leader. >> if you look at someone that's 80, he? 81. biden. 80, how old is he? 81. biden. yes. yes. so i guess there's for any 81 year old. the pressure must be immense. completely and there's lot to remember. not there's a lot to remember. not saying that there anything saying that there isn't anything wrong , i'm saying that there isn't anything wrong, i'm just saying that there isn't anything wrong , i'm just saying that wrong, i'm just saying that that's lot of pressure for an that's a lot of pressure for an 81 year. well, exactly. >> 40 and i get my >> i mean, i'm 40 and i get my dog, husband's names confused dog, my husband's names confused all time. you know, i call all the time. you know, i call it brain. but, you know, we it mom brain. but, you know, we as get older, our short as we get older, our short memory really, really poor. memory gets really, really poor. and think got to expect and i think you've got to expect some of degeneration. some kind of degeneration. but the question more the competence question is more important. how old are you is actually does matter is how actually does it matter is how fit office is. yeah.
10:15 am
fit for office he is. yeah. >> think he's fit >> bruce do you think he's fit for office? >> not sure. i think he >> i'm not sure. i think he needs a rest. i do, honestly, i've said that before on other shows in here. i think he does need rest. and i agree with need a rest. and i agree with you. it's a lot to deal with if you're not cognitively fit and the number is irrelevant sort of thing. >> think he @ think he a @ think he >> do you think he wants a rest though, because came back though, because he came back quite held quite fiery, actually held an impromptu conference, impromptu press conference, pretty i know pretty much saying, i know what the hell i'm doing. he was. but then defensive. >> being worked from >> is he being worked from behind? wizard of oz behind? is it a wizard of oz type don't know. where type thing? we don't know. where is where is it? >> where is it? >> where is it? >> is where is kamala? >> where is where is kamala? >> where is where is kamala? >> yes. really good, because there was high hopes for kamala. >> well, yeah, unless she's just kind of hiding back, kind of hiding in the back, waiting him kind of move waiting for him to kind of move on and then she can step into the fore. >> i mean, i'm also waiting for michelle obama to parachuted michelle obama to be parachuted in possibly kim kardashian, in and possibly kim kardashian, although another although i think that's another time be good, >> oh, that would be good, wasn't it? >> yeah. >> yeah. >> kim versus kanye. you could. >> kim versus kanye. you could. >> you to see that. i think >> you got to see that. i think that happen. that did happen. >> would be two. >> this would be round two. >> this would be round two. >> but this is the question is, is really best that the
10:16 am
is this really the best that the us offer. we've got a 77 us can offer. we've got a 77 year old facing a number of indictments. and then we've got an year old wanting a second an 81 year old wanting a second terme at 85, 86. terme who put him at 85, 86. i mean, is that the best mean, is that really the best that can? that they can? >> so depressing. where's the fresh the young fresh blood? where's the young upstarts? where's the new jfk? you what america you know, that's what america needs they don't need needs right now. they don't need old people. old old old people. these old these old men. they've all these other men. they've got all these other issues that detracting from issues that are detracting from their presidency going on. >> interesting was when >> what was interesting was when he said in his interview, he said, know, what i've said, you know, look what i've done the country since i've done for the country since i've been office. then, of been in office. and then, of course, caused lot of course, that caused a lot of uproar from people saying, well, that's the whole point. you know, of were not know, a lot of people were not happy he's done. a lot happy with what he's done. a lot of, lot aren't. so they're of, ah, a lot aren't. so they're saying that wasn't a thing saying that wasn't a good thing to when you're when you're to say when you're when you're being about your no being asked about your no ability, of human ability, it's a kind of human defence, it? defence, isn't it? >> but it's not very tactical. yeah. yeah. it's going to be a challenging re—election effort. >> on that, you >> i think. um, on that, do you let know think? gb let us know what you think? gb views news. com is biden views at gb news. com is biden too in charge? let us too old to be in charge? let us know think. bruce, know what you think. uh, bruce, want into this story with
10:17 am
want to get into this story with you, get your thoughts? uh, not. so over heels is the so head over heels is the headune headline in the times. apparently giving apparently people stopped giving valentine's that the valentine's day gifts that the six is a year six year mark, which is a year before the year itch, before the seven year itch, which downhill from which is went downhill from there, it's there, i know, but it's interesting always interesting because i always kind as society kind of feel as though society is hovering fast forward. is now hovering on fast forward. >> to be going >> the years seem to be going in quicker you've got the quicker and so you've got the seven when people seven year itch when people decide, i going you decide, am i going to go, you know, we're going to continue on or whatever, even or whatever, but we're even bringing this a year forward. and with valentine's day and so with valentine's day coming it's not very coming up, i know it's not very romantic, people are kind romantic, but people are kind of thinking, after thinking, well, i bother after six getting a card, six years getting you a card, will you anything? well, will i get you anything? well, i get you one of lovely dining get you one of the lovely dining menus the menus from many of the supermarkets love do supermarkets i love and do you? >> yeah, that's what we're doing on day. on valentine's day. >> dining for two, >> nice. i love dining for two, dining them all major dining for them all major supermarkets. i've supermarkets. yes. yeah i've never heard of that. >> start >> yeah. you get mains start butter pudding and a bottle of wine, usually £20. very good. in supermarkets you're >> in some supermarkets you're getting cocktails. getting a pack of cocktails. >> really? in candle. >> oh, you've done your research. >> no, i have no i mean business. yeah. >> should that. okay. the >> you should do that. okay. the thing that i would about thing that i would say about this actually don't this is actually if you don't give presents start off with,
10:18 am
give presents to start off with, you to about you never have to worry about it. and your husband, do it. so you and your husband, do we do a card. here we just do a card. and here every year says to me a few every year he says to me a few days before just card, right? days before just a card, right? and yeah, just now and i go, yeah, just a card. now he's never in trouble. he he's never get in trouble. he always was a smart man. >> buy the or you make >> buy the card. or do you make the card? >> no, i always buy it. you buy it. got no artistic skills. it. i've got no artistic skills. well, would like well, making would be cute, like a drawn it, a seven year old had drawn it, and would be and then that would be weird. >> local co—op. >> our local co—op. >> do cards? >> what do you do with cards? >> what do you do with cards? >> you what do you >> what do you do? what do you do for emily? >> i say that, can >> see, before i say that, can i just ask, do you think it's because of the fact that, you know, things are know, like you said, things are speeding up, right? >> all of >> so christmas is here all of a sudden spending sudden everyone's spending on that. you know, there's a financial then financial crisis. yeah. then comes valentine's day so quick afterwards and you're like, oh, we've do we've got to spend again. do you think something do think that's got something to do with financially with it that that financially it's a problem it's becoming a bit of a problem for well, i don't know. it >> well, i don't know. it depends. how much depends. but it's like how much do in christmas? do you participate in christmas? you the boundaries you can set the boundaries of however spend however much you want to spend when you got kids. >> i got you, okay? >> i got you, okay? >> but don't up the fact i >> but don't throw up the fact i can't my own. can't have any of my own. but thank you. >> w- w— >> no, i'm joking, but no, no, no, can parameters, no, but you can set parameters, can't it's the can't you? and i think it's the same because can't you? and i think it's the samdon't because can't you? and i think it's the samdon't need because can't you? and i think it's the samdon't need forecause can't you? and i think it's the samdon't need forecaltop you don't need to go for the top end you could maybe do
10:19 am
end dining. you could maybe do one the ones. one of the budget ones. >> i would >> the one thing i would say, though, the victorians though, is that the victorians invented they invented valentine's day. they were were obsessed were the ones that were obsessed with and if you with sending cards. and if you didn't , you could didn't like somebody, you could send vinegar valentine, send them a vinegar valentine, which a naughty, which was a naughty, rude message to away, which was a naughty, rude n love ige to away, which was a naughty, rude nloveige yeah, to away, which was a naughty, rude nloveige yeah, rebelo away, which was a naughty, rude nloveige yeah, rebel , away, which was a naughty, rude nloveige yeah, rebel , the away, i love that. yeah, rebel, the makeup company, was one of the first manufacturers of valentine's cards, and they made scented cards, which were just kind really beautiful. so the kind of really beautiful. so the reason you're across the detail on i know a bit about it. on it, i do know a bit about it. so able to talk so i should be able to talk about reason i'm about it. but the reason i'm telling because the cards telling you is because the cards were tradition. were always the tradition. it wasn't present. so presence is a new actually, you new thing. so actually, if you just card, old just do the card, that's the old fashioned way. >> sealed with loving >> is it sealed with a loving kiss your cologne >> is it sealed with a loving kiss you your cologne >> is it sealed with a loving kiss you spray your cologne >> is it sealed with a loving kiss you spray youryour cologne >> is it sealed with a loving kiss you spray your perfume?|ne >> is it sealed with a loving kiss you spray your perfume? is* and you spray your perfume? is that and you spray your perfume? is tha i and you spray your perfume? is thai think i think i like 1986. >> i think i think i like 1986. okay >> i'm too young. >> i'm too young. >> i'm too young. >> i need to address . >> i need to address. >> i need to address. >> what you do for emily. >> because n >> because you asked me and i was abrupt? no, don't was i rudely abrupt? no, don't worry. because worry. the reason was because i haven't done it. >> just trying your job. >> just trying to do your job. and asking personal and i'm just asking personal questions. anything yet. >> thinking i need get >> i was thinking i need to get out quick. out of this combo quick. so that's i'm going that's the first thing i'm going to is it ' 7 m. again? >> t w the 14th. again? >> the 14th. wednesday >> wednesday the 14th. wednesday yeah. of course. >> and you've got pancake day tuesday. it's a busy week guys. >> to high.

>> well, the government has announced that dentists who set up of england up practice in areas of england with nhs care with poor access to nhs care will be offered a £20,000 bonus. yes, the government also say that dentists who take on new patients and teeth cleaning in schools will be fined and rewarded . is this an industry rewarded. is this an industry that's in decay? well joining us in the studio now is dentist and king of celebrity smiles. doctor richard marks. how are you? lovely to see you. >> yeah, really, really good to see you this morning. >> um, how have we got to this point where we have people in this country in 2024 , queuing at this country in 2024, queuing at 5:00 the morning to join 5:00 in the morning to join a dentist yeah, dentist practice? yeah, obviously it's pretty bad. >> and, um, it's just been kind of, uh , steady decline really of, uh, steady decline really since 2006 when they changed the dental contract . and there's dental contract. and there's been a real cut in funding for dentistry. so so now that's why we're calling on the government to kind of fund dentistry properly and increase the number
10:26 am
of dentists and increase the number of dental practices is, you know, in cities and in rural areas. um, yeah , especially nhs areas. um, yeah, especially nhs care, obviously . care, obviously. >> yeah. i mean, obviously this has now led to people doing diy dentistry, which of course is not pleasant and not safe. i mean, have you seen the cases of this rise? yeah. >> so people , um, use they use >> so people, um, use they use household tools to actually do things . yeah. like pliers to things. yeah. like pliers to trying to take their own teeth out . out. >> and the pain is unbearable. >> and the pain is unbearable. >> pain is unbearable. >> pain is unbearable. >> there's nothing like toothache , though, is there? toothache, though, is there? >> no. they say because it's nearer know, it's nearer your head, you know, it's nearer your head, you know, it's nearer neural centre, your nearer your neural centre, your central system . central nervous system. toothache, earache, toothache is one of the worst, you know, you can see why people very sadly get desperate, can't you, and turn to drastic measures turn to those drastic measures because can't get into a because they can't get into a dental practice . dental practice. >> and in that much >> and if you're in that much pain, i assume you would do anything, to try anything, wouldn't you, to try and and then also , like, >> yeah. and then also, like, people end going to the people end up going to the hospital then hospital in a&e, which then clogs up the hospital system as
10:27 am
well . and in the hospitals they well. and in the hospitals they don't have the tools to don't have the dental tools to actually it . um, one of the actually fix it. um, one of the dangerous is if you get dangerous things is if you get dental infection, it can press on the airway or even track towards the eye. so there's some really dangerous parts and sepsis in the blood. you know, that's really dangerous parts of dentistry, which people don't realise apart from not being able to eat or smile. >> you don't want to risk it >> so you don't want to risk it when people go overseas and they get things done and then they come and they have to come back and then they have to get things fixed. >> that becoming a similar, >> is that becoming a similar, similar by people similar problem? but by people doing now? similar problem? but by people doiiyeah now? similar problem? but by people doiiyeah , now? similar problem? but by people doiiyeah , well now? similar problem? but by people doiiyeah , well people w? similar problem? but by people doiiyeah , well people are going >> yeah, well people are going overseas and then the dentist who have to take over the care haven't obviously done the original treatment. so they don't know what's underneath all of this work. obviously a lot of people have big white smiles and veneers and um, in plants and turkey teeth and it can cause a lot of problems. >> turkey teeth aren't we? we certainly are. look, i wanted to ask you about what you think about golden handshake ask you about what you think about from en handshake
10:28 am
ask you about what you think about from theiandshake ask you about what you think about from the conservatives idea. um, from the conservatives at the moment. so £20,000 bonus being offered to dentists if they move to a rural area where perhaps there isn't dental perhaps there isn't a dental practice, the idea of practice, and also the idea of paying. i think it's £50 a patient . um, if you if you see patient. um, if you if you see a patient. um, if you if you see a patient that hasn't been seen in a certain number of years, what do think about this? because do you think about this? because the this the labour party has said this is plaster is just a sticking plaster policy. just throw policy. you can't just throw money at the situation. do you think is a good to think this is a good place to start, to see start, or do you want to see something else? >> well, something is better than least than nothing and at least we've got intention dentistry than nothing and at least we've got you intention dentistry than nothing and at least we've got you know, ion dentistry than nothing and at least we've got you know, it's dentistry than nothing and at least we've got you know, it's been ntistry than nothing and at least we've got you know, it's been kindy than nothing and at least we've got you know, it's been kind of now. you know, it's been kind of left out and lots of people obviously it's part of the health of people health system. lots of people talking and the talking about doctors and the medical system, which are really important. but dentistry also needs to be highlighted. it's really part of health. really important part of health. so to help so anything they can do to help is good. um, but there needs to be a lot more there. right? it is a sticking plaster. not is a sticking plaster. it's not enough. need to fund enough. and they do need to fund it and really draw it properly and really draw attention fence some attention and ring fence some budget dentistry . budget for dentistry. >> me and your father was an nhs dentist. >> he was. he was an nhs dentist all of his life. and um, you
10:29 am
know, the system changed around 2006 and it was a lot better before that. um, so , so, uh, you before that. um, so, so, uh, you know, he treated thousands and thousands of patients successfully and, you know , i successfully and, you know, i also did a lot of nhs dentistry. i worked with him for a bit, you know, and, um, it is enjoyable because you're helping people out, you know. does it make you despair now for your industry ? despair now for your industry? >> it's in your blood, isn't it? your dad's done it. you've done it. obviously clearly it. you're obviously clearly passionate and passionate about it. and then you queuing like you see people queuing like that, scenes we've seen that, like the scenes we've seen in it in bristol this week. it must make just worried about make you just so worried about the industry. the future of your industry. me? yeah, and the challenges of it definitely. >> and it's hard to see people like behind, people like left behind, people in pain, know , um, dentists, we pain, you know, um, dentists, we really want help people. really do want to help people. we fix their teeth . we we want to fix their teeth. we want to get them out of pain, like see people queuing. you like to see people queuing. you know, with troubles in their mouth, knowing when they'll mouth, not knowing when they'll get sorted. really , get it sorted. it's really, really hard. >> now, obviously have >> now, you obviously have a killer smile. >> you . which is you? >> thank you. which is you? very. you really do . very. you really do. >> um, so you would have. let's

10:43 am
absolute nonsense. >> a bit unfair >> i think it's a bit unfair when are, you know, when people are, you know, they're of they're just accused of something then in something and then they're in the being accused the public eye for being accused of it. when know you don't of it. when you know you don't know it or they know if they've done it or they haven't.it's difficult >> and it's difficult with someone because someone like him because if you ever oddly, ever watch formula one, oddly, i do . my husband's it. do. my husband's really into it. um you see them talk and there's a of interaction. you can a lot of interaction. you can see how the, the kind of the, the are quite aggressive the leaders are quite aggressive and they get into it. so so it's and they get into it. so so it's a tough one this. but i guess we'll find out what happens in time. it will come out. >> thank you much ellie. >> thank you so much ellie. really to see you. and really good to see you. and congratulations when do. >> joon ah , he just ago, he >> joon ah, he just ago, he just. it's amazing. it suits you . you're absolutely glowing. >> we're obsessed . i keep >> we're obsessed. i keep touching your bum anyway. >> don't go anywhere. >> don't go anywhere. >> next, we're going meet our >> next, we're going to meet our greatest the week . greatest briton of the week. it's british citizen award winner jane and joins winnerjane scott, and she joins us in the studio. we're going to be meeting her next. >> out why she's >> yeah. find out why she's hogging the limelight. they're coming good. coming very good. >> thick and fast. >> thick and fast. >> this is saturday morning live on news. britain's news

10:49 am
took the six pigs, did lots of research and realised that there are no pig sanctuaries around and these animals are hugely popular as pets, they popular as pets, but they need the environment live the right environment to live in. curly tails in. and that's how curly tails was started in march was born. so it started in march 2016 and has just gone , gone 2016 and has just gone, gone from there. it's absolutely wonderful. >> okay, so let's talk about micro pigs because obviously most children, including my own, my youngest, all wanted a micro pig- my youngest, all wanted a micro pig. it was this thing that everyone was talking about, not realising that they actually grow to full size . grow to full size. >> yeah, yeah, there is such a thing as a micro pig, but they're not as small as the name suggests . so micro really is suggests. so micro really is only a comparison to the large breed . so i think you saw breed. so i think you saw a photo of me with humphrey. is this humphrey who's on the screen now? that's walter , and screen now? that's walter, and actually he's he's quite a large boy. >> humphrey is humphrey the huge one that looks like a horse? >> yes . so this one that looks like a horse? >> yes. so this one, he one that looks like a horse? >> yes . so this one, he is >> yes. so this one, he is a large breed. and he was actually bought by someone that lived in a when he was eight weeks a flat when he was eight weeks old. so he dinky little.

old. so he was a dinky little. so was a micro. he's a micro. so he was a micro. he's a micro. he's he is . he he's not a micro pig. he is. he is a obviously a big for is a large, obviously a big for those on radio. >> you just just go with me on that. >> just go with me. >> just go with me. >> on of me looking down at that little teddy . he is little pig that is teddy. he is a micro pig. micro pigs. can a micro pig. so micro pigs. can teddy to be around ? sort of teddy get to be around? sort of 100, 150 kilos. whereas the larger breeds can be anything up to. humphrey about 350 kilos. >> so do you think they were selling when people tried to selling when people tried to sell micro pigs to families ? do sell micro pigs to families? do you think it was? they were. they the they were giving them the impression that they would always , very small. always stay very, very small. >> don't know that, but >> i don't know that, but but the impression that is given is , the impression that is given is, is to buy a dog is if you're going to buy a dog and you want buy a puppy, and you want to buy a puppy, you're see lovely you're going to see lovely little puppies little cute pictures of puppies and the same with pigs. you're going to pictures and have going to see pictures and have interaction with babies as and as. always say to children as. i always say to the children that come and visit, you didn't come mum's tummy come out of your mum's tummy that grow and micro that size. you grow and micro pigs that size. you grow and micro pigs grow. so micro pig is only a class of pig. it's not. it's not a breed of pig. >> what are pigs like as

creatures ? as i can't, i can't creatures? as i can't, i can't say i've spent a lot of time with them. they're very cute. they're. >> they're incredibly intelligent. they're really sentient animals. and all the research that has been done suggests that there is intelligence as a three year old child. so they dream and have emotions and feelings and memories, and they grieve and mourn if they lose their lives. yeah so they have huge connections with people. and that's one of founder that's one of the founder nafions that's one of the founder nations of the sanctuary. is actually building on those connections. and their intellect to help people in turn . to help people in turn. >> so, so part of curly tails is rehabilitate eating piggies. and we were saying earlier, you rehabilitate them socially and emotionally. how do you rehabilitate a pig emotionally ? rehabilitate a pig emotionally? >> it's something that takes a very long time. it can take years. and years and years and i suppose the only comparison i can, i can put it is towards maybe a child that has suffered early childhood trauma . working early childhood trauma. working with them will help to show that actually they don't have to be a

victim. they can actually move on and enjoy their lives. and some pigs, not of some of these pigs, not all of them . the one you can see them. the one that you can see now he was skin now is teddy. he was skin hanging when rescued hanging on bone when we rescued him, and he was struggling to walk and everything else. so you can he's here. and the can see he's here. and the rehabilitation is. and he's trotting along with him. >> if you're listening on the radio, that actually radio, showing him that actually we can build trust bonds together and that he is in a safe place and that he can enjoy life . there is such thing as life. there is such thing as like a sad pig or a traumatised pig- like a sad pig or a traumatised pig. yeah we did try to. >> sorry , karen. >> sorry, karen. >> sorry, karen. >> can i say pigs can actually die from hearts? really? die from broken hearts? really? yeah. like people yeah. they give up like people do. was going to say we really do. i was going to say we really tried today , didn't we? tried today, didn't we? >> to get to bring a pig on the show. >> we were desperate. >> we were desperate. >> we were desperate. >> we really tried desperate . >> we really tried desperate. >> we really tried desperate. >> but apparently can get >> but apparently they can get really, big and there was really, really big and there was no way of logistically doing it. >> you wouldn't have >> well, you wouldn't have a studio in. really. >> he's a gentle giant. >> he's a gentle giant. >> he's a gentle giant. >> he's enormous . he came to us >> he's enormous. he came to us as a baby . um, >> he's enormous. he came to us as a baby. um, he is >> he's enormous. he came to us as a baby . um, he is absolutely as a baby. um, he is absolutely huge. as a baby. um, he is absolutely huge . and people look at him and

11:23 am
now our next guest has a truly inspiring story. her name is donia youssef and her journey has been both heartbreaking and very inspiring. yes 20 years ago, donna's sister took her own life and left her two children behind. some years later, donna was visited in her dream by her sister, who said she should make a change and not be sad anymore . a change and not be sad anymore. >> but in 2017, donna woke up one morning with a lump. she went to the doctor and was diagnosed with stage two lymph node cancer. it was the start of a long journey since donna's initial diagnosis. >> the cancer has spread to other regions and this amazing lady continues in her battle . lady continues in her battle. >> yes, turning pain and trauma into power and inspiration . into power and inspiration. donna began writing and has so far released over 30 children's books. far released over 30 children's books . they aim to help young books. they aim to help young mothers struggling or not knowing how to tell their children that they have cancer . children that they have cancer. >> yeah, we're delighted to be joined now in the studio by the lovely donia yosef donia. lovely, lovely . see, i mean you lovely, lovely. see, i mean you
11:24 am
have done some amazing things. thank you. it's quite unbelievable with what you've been through and all the things that you're doing. so just take us through them. >> oh yeah . >> oh yeah. >> oh yeah. >> yeah. obviously back in 2017, varne got diagnosed with cancer, had , um, a little 18 month old had, um, a little 18 month old baby and a three year old. so it's the last thing on my mind. um obviously with cancer diagnosis , it really pulls on diagnosis, it really pulls on the mental string. so it was emotional. you kind of live from kind of day to day. most some daysi kind of day to day. most some days i was living from hour to hour and, and it just i was angry because my kids and my baby like she was young . um, but baby like she was young. um, but i adapted this strength . and i adapted this strength. and obviously, since my sister had , obviously, since my sister had, um, taken her life, it was like. and i got that message through from her in the dream , i had to from her in the dream, i had to really, really , you know, just really, really, you know, just adapt my mindset. and i wanted to find an outlet. so so i started writing and it was like
11:25 am
the creative outlet, which i found, which really, really helped me . um, and it was just helped me. um, and it was just keeping those vibrations high. so grounding yourself with really positive people . and i really positive people. and i think because i've faced death on a few occasions , it was like, on a few occasions, it was like, okay, you know, setting up this or doing this or that, it's not a problem because i've been in the worst situation . um, so you the worst situation. um, so you adapt better skills, you learn compassion and empathy, and you're totally fearless . so you're totally fearless. so i set up, um, my book publishing company, which was born from me writing in the chemo ward came amazon bestseller within 48 hours in the category . and then hours in the category. and then i got the buzz for writing and i was like, great. so yeah, i went on to, i think, 32 books that i published, and they're all inspired by my a trauma where i want to turn that pain into sort of power and inspiration to help others. >> donna , you are absolutely >> donna, you are absolutely incredible. it's really amazing listening to you and you being
11:26 am
able to draw on that inner strength somewhere, whether that's your sister being with you or the anger that you felt at diagnosis . you or the anger that you felt at diagnosis. but something at your diagnosis. but something has really spurred you has really, really spurred you on to the most on to just do the most incredible oh, thank incredible things. oh, thank you. 32 books where you. with these 32 books where did that idea come from? because i that a lot of it is about i know that a lot of it is about younger mothers perhaps struggling their struggling to talk to their children cancer children about their cancer diagnosis. something diagnosis. is that something that you wanted to help others? yeah. >> so when i got put into remission the first time, um, around cancer , i felt around with the cancer, i felt like i had to give back . there like i had to give back. there were more younger mums were a lot more younger mums than me, and they had children and they were really struggling just to speak up about it. and they were really struggling just to speak up about it . so just to speak up about it. so i felt like i was the mummy of the group and when i got in remission, it was like my thanks to give back. and so i um, yeah, i reached , yeah, i mean i reached, yeah, i mean charities got a lot of charities involved and yeah, it was like each day it feels like it's not even real. like so you do, you do all these amazing things. >> you've turned such a negative
11:27 am
into a positive. but i can see a lot of pain and i can see a lot of pain clearly, because losing your sister and having to deal with this, how how do you keep that strength and to be able to just fight through it because it's unbelievable . it's unbelievable. >> i mean, you have your days. um, but i think because i've put it into such positive stuff and i'm doing now everything that i really love and i've been given like a second chance in life. so i help with mental health, and i've helped a lot of people, um, with books as well. so giving them a platform to share their stories as well. um and a lot of my books are now in motion on, um, with feature films, animation movies with a—list , animation movies with a—list, um, stars attached. so i just feel like i'm living a dream right now . it's little donna's right now. it's little donna's just like there are other things that are happening. >> um, this one you might not know about, but it's very exciting news for you, donna .

absolutely no emily be absolutely no way emily will be done because you're both from big , watch this big families, so watch this space. i love that. space. oh, i love that. >> i think we are done there. >> i think we are done there. >> so, emily, tell us >> i think so, emily, tell us about this new book then. >> for me, what strikes >> because for me, what strikes me it's bringing together me is it's bringing together both worlds, it ? it's both your worlds, isn't it? it's your of the nhs and your experience of the nhs and working in the mental health sector , and this platform sector, and also this platform that you have and raising awareness of such important issue. >> thank you. and it's something i feel really privileged i guess i feel really privileged with that because, know, with that because, you know, obviously my as in obviously my work as a doctor in the nhs, i have, you know, obviously group of people that the nhs, i have, you know, ocan usly group of people that the nhs, i have, you know, ocan supportroup of people that the nhs, i have, you know, ocan support and of people that the nhs, i have, you know, ocan support and kindzople that the nhs, i have, you know, ocan support and kind ofle that the nhs, i have, you know, ocan support and kind of look at i can support and kind of look after, but it's so amazing to be able to have that bigger platform. like you said, to be able to reach more people . and i able to reach more people. and i feel so to be able to feel so lucky to be able to do that. feel so lucky to be able to do that . and that's exactly that. and that's exactly why i've including i've written my books, including including and, you including the last book and, you know, think working the know, i think working in the mental well, i mental health sector as well, i just see me so much how there's such a need and still a need. i think , to break down the stigma think, to break down the stigma around mental health. just around mental health. and i just think that with kids think starting that with kids and helping feel able to and helping them feel able to kind about
11:40 am
kind of talk about their emotions and sort of mental health it can only health in general, it can only be thing. be a good thing. >> went remember you >> you went i remember when you released and within released the book and within that day it went number one on amazon. seller. and i was amazon. best seller. and i was so proud. i remember telling amazon. best seller. and i was so proudshe i remember telling amazon. best seller. and i was so proudshe takes nember telling amazon. best seller. and i was so proudshe takes thingsr telling amazon. best seller. and i was so proudshe takes things in alling amazon. best seller. and i was so proudshe takes things in herg you and she takes things in her stride, so just doesn't. she stride, so she just doesn't. she doesn't run around and pop champagne she's like, doesn't run around and pop chathat'sle she's like, doesn't run around and pop chathat's lovely she's like, doesn't run around and pop chathat's lovely right?e's like, doesn't run around and pop chathat's lovely right? i'm.ike, oh, that's lovely right? i'm going to just put the kids to bed, you know, she's that bed, you know, she's like that and you because and i'm so proud of you because obviously an obviously it's such an important. inside. important. i was excited inside. >> believe it. >> i couldn't believe it. >> i couldn't believe it. >> i couldn't believe it. >> i know, i know, but what i mean is you're not one of these people for that accolade. >> it because you want to >> you do it because you want to help think that's fantastic. >> do know what fantastic. » no >> do you know what strikes me both you is how both with both of you is how down you both are and down to earth you both are and how humble you both are. and in terms of your own parenting and your children who are your lovely children who are here , how how here today, how does how does that help ? does that example that help? does that example help think you help them? do you think you being down to earth ? being just so down to earth? >> i think so, i think we just try and be kind with try and be kind of open with them, don't like and them, don't we. and like try and have that . yeah. just that open have that. yeah. just that open kind dialogue family kind of dialogue in the family and trying to you know, guess and trying to you know, i guess they probably say i'm, i'm
11:41 am
they would probably say i'm, i'm quite strict. we were actually having debate car on having this debate in the car on the here. the the way up here. who's the strictest you? strictest one, me, me or you? but that balance but i think it's that balance between and you know, learnt between and you know, i learnt this from pete as well, this a lot from pete as well, that to strict and that you've got to be strict and have boundaries, but they have those boundaries, but they have those boundaries, but they have that the have to know that there's the love . and that's what we love there. and that's what we try and do, isn't and you, try and do, isn't it? and you, you right as you never get it 100% right as a parent. you just can't. >> always say that um , >> we always say that that, um, you know, being a parent is first foremost. that's first and foremost. that's a given. but also being their friend means that they can open up to you and they can talk to you. junior, he you. now, junior, my eldest, he kind of is a bit disappointed in my parenting now because i was so strict with him, strict . so strict with him, so strict. and then with the other two. i'm not. that's the youngest two. i'm not that strict as one. got as each child came along, i became less and less strict. so, uh. but you're you are strict. but in a very, very , very good but in a very, very, very good way with iphones . sorry, ipads, way with iphones. sorry, ipads, things like that. iphones i don't think they're ever going to get, according to you, one day. >> one day. >> one day. >> well, i wanted to ask you
11:42 am
because in the book talk because in the book you talk a lot that lot about body image, and that is real in terms of is a real issue in terms of children's mental health, isn't it? and, know, have it? and, you know, you have a very young daughter, millie, who is just ten years old. and of course, princess as well, and she's released she's just actually released a clothing week, hasn't clothing range this week, hasn't she of she, pete? so with the two of them, how do you help with that pressure image, pressure about body image, especially famous especially with with famous parents like yourselves the parents like yourselves and the pressure of social media as well? >> yeah, the social media thing is really thing, isn't is a really tricky thing, isn't it? parents now it? though i think parents now are to learn deal are just having to learn to deal with absolutely with because i've got absolutely no experience it just no experience myself. it just wasn't a round i was wasn't a round when i was a teenager, so that's something wasn't a round when i was a teena kind;o that's something wasn't a round when i was a teena kind ;o tlearningnething wasn't a round when i was a teena kind ;o tlearningnethin day we're kind of learning every day how cope with. but how to kind of cope with. but the body image side of things, i just positive just try and be really positive with, all kids about with, with all the kids about their, their strengths that are in all areas and try not. i always try not to focus too much on their appearance. on their on their appearance. you know, obviously we say, oh you look lovely or that's, you look lovely today or that's, you look lovely today or that's, you know, oh, your looks you know, oh, your hair looks beautiful. and beautiful. but i always try and say know, are say to them, you know, are you're oh gosh, you're really kind or oh gosh, that's such piece of that's such a good piece of homework done i'm homework you've done or i'm really you. i saw how really proud of you. i saw how hard you tried at that today. so
11:43 am
i to praise them i really try hard to praise them for things other than physical appearance. so that they, i guess, value all aspects of themself and not not just their appearance, because there's a big pressure i think, isn't there, on boys and girls to look a way ? um, yeah. whether a certain way? um, yeah. whether that's their body size or shape or their , their facial features, or their, their facial features, you anything , isn't it? you know, anything, isn't it? and i always try and make sure that they know that there's more important about them than important things about them than one that they look. one way that they look. >> 100% made me a much better parent. i've learned so much. no, i have learned so much no, i have i've learned so much from her because because she's she's amazing. she's got a way that's amazing. there's things that were instilled kids and instilled in us as kids and strict things that i've tried to implement on the kids, but some things to believe things that i used to believe in, like , oh, i don't agree in, i'm like, oh, i don't agree with that. now let kids be kids and, you know, things have changed, but you've helped me with that. so thank you. >> most >> you two are the most wonderful so to wonderful to hear. so lovely to see you are such a see you together. you are such a wonderful team. look there aren't people aren't going to be people watching today watching and listening today who say, didn't say, oh, mental health didn't exist like when i was
11:44 am
exist like this when i was growing didn't have growing up. kids didn't have mental was mental health issues when i was growing . what's what's growing up. what's what's happening made up. happening now? it's all made up. what you say to those people? what do you say to those people? >> i mean, i it's partly what do you say to those people? >> awareness, it's partly what do you say to those people? >> awareness, it? partly what do you say to those people? >> awareness, it? it'stly an awareness, isn't it? it's partly more about partly that we know more about it. talking about it. exactly. we're talking about it. exactly. we're talking about it . we recognise, know, it more. we recognise, you know, what the potential symptoms might think people, might be. and i think people, even though think we're not even though i think we're not quite there yet, i think people are more able perhaps talk are more able to perhaps talk about it than they than they used to be. um, you know, so which to me is a good thing. used to be. um, you know, so which to me is a good thing . um, which to me is a good thing. um, so , yeah, i think that's, that's so, yeah, i think that's, that's partly it. and that's again why i wanted to start with children getting them. you know, there's a whole sort of first section of the getting kids to the book is getting kids to recognise emotion recognise what their emotion issues how they issues are to them, how they feel them they might issues are to them, how they feel in|em they might issues are to them, how they feel in their they might issues are to them, how they feel in their body, they might issues are to them, how they feel in their body, and( might feel it in their body, and encouraging to to encouraging them to talk to other it . other people about it. >> it really is the most >> so it really is the most beautiful book. if do beautiful book. and if you do have at home, have children at home, it is full gorgeous illustrations full of gorgeous illustrations and diagrams and things like that. it's really child friendly. it's beautiful for families. you families. i did want to ask you because being asked because you were being asked this media, why have this on social media, why have you decided to go with your
