with that view over the city. and here's how the day shapes up. you're going to get a lot of sunshine today. again, we are continuing the trend of above average temperatures for another day. we're calling it warm sunshine. this afternoon, 70s and 80s. your daytime highs away from the coast, but we do have some showers in the forecast for the weekend. we'll talk about that coming up in six minutes. let's check in with jobina and see how traffic is doing, starting with the end of the four weeks here of the richmond-san rafael bridge closure for the sigalert is still in place. >> hard to believe we're on four weeks of this and we still don't know when all of those lanes will reopen. we do have good news involving the second sigalert we're following in fairfield. the eastbound lanes of open at state route 12 at nursall road. but the westbound lanes are still blocked. happening today, the first hearing for a nationwide civil lawsuit filed on behalf of people who say they were sexually assaulted while riding with uber. the case is being heard at the federal court in san francisco. it involves 22 victims from 11 states. an

attorney for the victims says uber failed to take safety precautions after becoming aware of some drivers engaged in sexual misconduct. and assault on passengers. >> we think the big problem with this with uber and its system is they are not removing drivers from their system when they have evidence that there are sexual misconduct occurring on their system. >> in an emailed statement, an uber spokesperson tells abc seven news, quote, sexual assault is a horrific crime. and we take every report of this nature very seriously. while we cannot comment on pending litigation, we are deeply committed to the safety of all users on the uber platform. the attorney for the victims says one of the goals of the litigation is for uber to make changes that will increase riders safety on the platform. >> i'm a convicted sex offender who offered free fentanyl for new users at his encampment across from a san francisco school appeared in court. joseph

adam moore is facing charges of being a public nuisance. he set up a camp more than a year ago and recently put up that sign at the i-team's. dan noyes spoke with moore. he told dan that unhoused people sometimes gave him fentanyl in exchange for blankets or food, and he passed the drugs on to other homeless people who wanted them. he recently had a confrontation with a parent from the school and is now facing a misdemeanor battery charge. in connection with that, he's also under probation after a firefighter got a restraining order against him. the prosecutor asked the court to keep moore in custody as his case moves forward. >> we want to be very mindful of the surroundings of where his conduct occurred and make sure that we are keeping the community safe. this guy is annoying because he moves around this particular area a lot and he's annoyed quite a few people. >> and i feel like because of that reason, because it's sort of an isolated area of san francisco, that he's being

treated differently. >> moore has a bail hearing next week where his attorney will try to make the case that he should be released while his case moves through the courts. >> the fight against fentanyl abuse on the streets of san francisco is now partly in the hands of the feds. a new program called all hands on deck is part of the crackdown in the tenderloin and soma neighborhoods. as abc7 news reporter lena howland is live with the details for us. good morning, lena. good morning, jobina. >> the biggest thing to take away from this is that street level drug dealers may now face federal charges if they are caught. and here in san francisco they're focusing on fentanyl dealers. here's how it's going to work. the all hands on deck program involves police officers, sheriff's office deputies, chp officers, dea agents and fbi agents on secret and select days. once a week, the us attorney's office will charge arrested street drug dealers with federal crimes. then they'll fast track the cases where judgments are decided in less than three

weeks. they'll also file charges against those suspected of dealing near federal buildings. already, the feds have brought charges against more than 30 people, with more than 40 others facing local charges. >> my office is using targeted wiretaps, arrest and searches throughout the bay area to stem the flow of drugs and dealers coming into san francisco from nearby counties. >> we do have a war on fentanyl. >> it must be removed from our streets and it will be. and this is how we will get it done. >> charging these suspected dealers with federal crimes keeps them behind bars and pushes the cases forward right away. district attorney brooke jenkins, who you just heard from, says that her office has filed 300 motions to detain suspected drug dealers in jail while their cases are open. but get this, only 30 of those were granted by local judges. the us attorney's office says they would prosecute all of these cases, but they don't have the

resources to do so. live in san francisco, lena howland, abc seven news. >> thank you, lena. new developments. ftxs founder and bay area native sam bankman-fried has been found guilty of fraud by a federal jury in new york. the jury deliberated for just four hours after nearly a month of testimony in this case. prosecutors say bankman-fried stole at least $10 billion from customers and investors to fund his other company and a lavish lifestyle, while it included a $40 million penthouse yachts and $2,500 lunches as mr. bankman-fried maintains his innocence. >> and we're going to continue to vigorously fight the charges against him. bankman freed now faces more than 100 years in prison. >> he's set to be sentenced in march. >> this morning, secretary of state antony blinken has arrived in israel on a diplomatic mission to protect civilians. in the crossfire of the israel-hamas war. it comes as israel claims to have surrounded

gaza city. the israeli defense forces say it. it's ground operation is expanding. it says its troops have completely circled gaza city and are locked in face to face battles with hamas militants. the biden administration is calling for humanitarian pauses to allow more aid inside gaza, do not support a cease fire, and that that gives time for hamas to regroup, which is something that, again, would put israeli citizens and others in danger. the house has passed a $14 billion israel aid package, but president biden has said he'll veto the bill if it makes it to his desk because it requires billions of dollars in spending cuts. >> bay area families are urging the us government to intervene to bring their loved ones back home. they filed a lawsuit hoping that their family members would be evacuated faster. abc7 spoke with a man whose grandmother is a us citizen

stuck in gaza. the last time he talked with her was october 26th. she hid and ran for cover as bombs went off near her. as she was saying goodbye. >> she's just crying. she didn't know what to say. i didn't know what to say. i mean, imagine having your grandmother telling you i don't know if i'm going to survive this because we might die from a bomb that's nearby. the government has 60 days to respond to this lawsuit. >> the white house announced 74 us citizens are on their way home and they should arrive in egypt soon. but the families we spoke with say they don't know if their loved ones are a part of that group. they're still to come, honoring the late tupac shakur. the city of oakland set to name a street after the iconic rapper. >> then an alert to anyone who went to a casino in the east bay . some of you may have been exposed to tuberculosis in the past few years. >> 609 on our friday, we're in store for warm sunshine today, but change is coming this weekend in the form of increased

pleasanton is going to be closed for repairs. the closure goes between the connector of 580 and 680 to state route 84. it starts at 9:00 tonight and goes until 4 a.m. monday morning. crews will be replacing a portion of the roadway. the northbound lanes of 680 are still going to be open. if you do need to drive through that area, there will be detours available. >> today, the city of oakland will rename a stretch of one of its most prominent streets after the late rap legend tupac shakur . macarthur boulevard between grand avenue and van buren avenue will be renamed tupac shakur way. shakur was born in new york city and grew up in baltimore before his mother moved their family to marin city . but his career took off in oakland, where he first worked with the hip hop group digital underground. the renaming ceremony starts at 1030 this morning. dolly parton is revealing the reason she turned down performing on one of football's biggest nights. >> the country megastar says she bypassed performing at the super

front approaches that keeps temperatures elevated. cloud cover acts like a blanket in the overnight hours. so we'll stay in the 50s for our overnight lows. here's future weather. it's a cloudier day. tomorrow. we'll call it partly sunny out there from time to time. the best chance of a shower is saturday evening in the north bay santa rosa points to the north outside of those areas, we do remain dry for the first half of the weekend by sunday, there's an isolated shower chance, the best chance hitting in the middle part of sunday. but again, look at this. it's isolated and it's really light in nature. that is why we took the storm impact scale off on sunday. this front is moving through drier and a lot quicker. rainfall totals. look at these numbers. they're on the low side over the weekend. you can see measuring in just a few hundredths of an inch where we find any of those isolated showers. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. warm sunshine today. there's that shower chance late saturday into sunday. our clocks go back one hour as standard time begins. we still have a chance of a shower or two. monday or tuesday. again, it's isolated. nothing widespread and temperatures stay below average. high jobina. >> hi, drew. thank you. good morning, everybody. so we are

bridge was really about bridging gaps, about bringing community together. and in fact, they not only propose hold on to this wonderful bridge, which seniors use our kids at rosa parks elementary uses for folks cross that bridge regularly. >> part of what the city calls the geary corridor bus rapid transit project. that's the mouthful. the sfmta plan to expedite bus traffic along geary to better serve the 55,000 people who drive or use muni's 38 line to commute along the geary to along geary to the salesforce transit center. and that happens every day for a lot of people. san francisco leaders have approved making the car free promenade in mclaren park permanent. the promenade stretches from mansell street through john shelley drive. it has been closed to traffic since the pandemic. make car access and parking at places like jerry garcia and theater will still be open to vehicles next year. at

process of clearing westbound 12 at nursery road is still closed at the moment, but it should be open shortly. and then also we have the second sig alert at the richmond, san rafael bridge. this is week four of this issue. the backup is extensive now for people traveling westbound. and again, no wide load vehicles allowed there. we will end at the bay bridge toll plaza. we're metering lights came on at 541. kumasi. >> thanks jobina federal law enforcement is now joining the fight against fentanyl abuse on the streets of san francisco. it's being called the all hands on deck program. it's an effort to crack down on fentanyl distribution in the tenderloin and soma neighborhoods. abc seven news reporter lena howland live to break down the details of the program. lena kumasi so far, because of this program, the feds have already brought charges against more than 30 people. >> the all hands on deck program is made up of police, sheriffs, chp, dea and fbi agents on secret and select days. once a week, the us attorney's office will charge arrested street drug dealers with federal crimes and

those cases, but they don't have the resources to do so. live in san francisco, lena howland, abc seven news. thank you, lena. >> in san francisco one man is making it his mission to ensure life saving defibrillators are always available when they're needed. this comes after a man died after a medical emergency. tsay outside of the deyoung museum. gary hobish was at the weekly lindy in the park event in golden gate park on sunday. friends say he suddenly collapsed and hit his head. and that's when tim o'brien ran to the museum and asked to borrow their aed. but staff inside wouldn't give it to him. as soon as he hesitated and handed it to me, i said, here's my phone, here's my watch, here's everything from my pockets. >> you can have it all. i was like, he's dying. he's heart collapse. we're doing cpr at the moment. we have nurse on staff or we have nurse here ready attending to him. we needed immediately. can we can you run? and then he's like, i need to check in. and he got the no. >> o'brien says businesses should reevaluate their policies

if an aed is not allowed off of their property, something that deyoung says they are doing in a statement to abc seven news. deyoung explained, quote, when asked for help after mr. kovic collapsed, staff at the de young museum tried to determine the best response they could make within museum policy as they understood it, running out to the park to assess what was happening when they reached the scene within five minutes of the initial request, they found that an ambulance had arrived and was providing immediate care in the east bay. >> a strange break in at the country's oldest black owned bookstore. well-dressed suspect caught on camera. you can see here just smashing the window at marcus books, which is near macarthur. bart the thief, used a 10 pound piece of asphalt to break this window. and you can see this person picking up books for books. the owner says that's all that was taken. >> the window was $1,200. the books were about 80. i don't know. i don't think he was on

drugs. i don't think he was drunk. he was black. so hopefully he's not a hater. the thief also damaged a piece of art and a stained glass panel. >> but sadly, it's not the first break in that happened there. the owner, blanche richardson, says her family owned business deserves better from the city of oakland when it comes to security. blanche's parents opened that store in the 1960s, of course, one of the first bookstores in the bay area to feature works by black authors in vallejo, there's a metal theft mystery brewing at city hall, a metal bust of the wife of the city's founder was stolen from in front of vallejo city hall recently. >> the bust isn't the only item that's recently disappeared. officials say metal letters from the city hall sign and handrails have also been stolen recently, the metal busts of mariano vallejo and chief solano have been moved to storage for safe keeping. city staff is looking into improving security or the
