moving forward, finding solutions. this is abc7 news. >> mcnamara is a common thug. as you can tell by the language used in his text messages. clapping people. smoking people. that is not language that is used by police officers as harsh criticism from attorneys for the man shot by a san jose police officer last year. >> the responding to news that the officer is no longer with the department and the racially charged text messages that ultimately cost him his job. thanks for joining us. i'm j.r. stone. we're learning more about a growing controversy involving racist texts sent by the now former officer where they were sent in response to a lawsuit over the shooting of a black man last spring. tonight we're hearing from that victim and his civil rights attorneys. they're demanding officer mark mcnamara face criminal charges. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard has details. >> it pretty much hurts me and

it scares me to know how much hate a person can have in their heart. >> 22 year old keon green reacting to newly discovered racist texts sent by a former san jose police officer who shot him last spring outside la victoria. taqueria where green says he disarmed someone involved in a fight. >> i feel like the hero of the situation that took place on march 27th. >> officer mark mcnamara shot green as he was backing out of the restaurant with a confiscated gun in a newly surfaced text dated the day after the shooting, mcnamara wrote to fellow officers, was in, wanted to carry a gun in the wild, wild west, but not on my watch. the shooting sent green to the hospital, where he faced a long recovery, forced to take a break from his football career at contra costa college, his attorney adante pointer, says the racist texts are the final insult. >> these were disgusting text messages, vile text messages and

some of the texts, mcnamara said. >> i'm pretty sure the district attorney would have charged me if i used excessive force. but she didn't because i didn't use excessive force. i'll shoot you too. mcnamara said of green's legal team. they should all be bowing to me and bringing me gifts. otherwise he would have lived a life of poverty and crime. in another text writing that he hates black people. mcnamara resigned from the sfpd last week after the text surfaced. lawyers are demanding mcnamara be charged with a hate crime and be desert fied as a police officer, you have allowed an avowed racist cop an opportunity to go and seek employment in another community just to terrorize another person on another day. >> i never thought somebody could just have that much hatred in their heart to where they would want to kill me just because of what i look like. >> san jose mayor matt mehan says his city has a zero tolerance for racial bias.

>> we are not going to tolerate racism. we are going to continue to working hard every day to build a culture of the utmost respect and professionalism within our department. >> green says he's moving forward, hoping to achieve his dream. >> in football, i'm still hoping to make it to the nfl. >> cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> fish and wildlife officers continue their search this evening for a wolf hybrid spotted twice this weekend in sonoma county. both sightings were captured on video. this is the most recent incident. the animal was seen trotting down the road along highway 12 at south wright road in sebast apple early this morning. yes today, what's believed to be the same wolf hybrid was recorded on a doorbell camera at a home a few miles away in santa rosa. >> come look at this dog. literally it looks like a wolf. it's hard to see in that video,

but it was across the street there. >> authorities say the animal crossed paths with two people who are walking their dogs but was not aggressive towards the humans or the animals. multiple local agencies are now involved in the search. officers say if you see the animal, do not approach it. now now to the latest in the israel hamas war. another israeli airstrike has hit the jabalia refugee camp in the central gaza strip. the un now says that half of the hospitals in gaza are no longer functioning. us secretary of state antony blinken met with the palestinian authority president mahmoud abbas in a surprise visit to the west bank. the biden administration now says that it supports a humanitarian pause, but stopping short of calling for a cease fire. i think everyone would welcome humanitarian pauses, there's no doubt about that. >> there are obviously different views, including on the question of the cease fire. but there's no doubt from my conversations with all of our colleagues who

are in amman yesterday, that everyone would welcome a humanitarian pause. >> israel's prime minister says there will be no cease fire unless all israeli hostages are are released. new at six. we're following this developing story in san carlos. a couple of hundred pro-palestinian protesters are gathering outside the hiller aviation museum. that's where a group called friends of the israeli defense forces are holding a fundraising gala tonight. the group says the event celebrates 75 years since the establishment of israel. protesters are chanting as attend these arrive and there have been some contentious moments. a police swat team is on the scene and controlling the crowds to make sure that things don't get out of hand. certainly more on that tonight at 11:00. happening tomorrow, jury selection begins for the federal trial of the man charged with attacking nancy pelosi's husband, paul last october. surveillance video showed david depape breaking into the pelosi

here in san francisco right now. oakland, 66, low 70s mountain view in san jose, 68, palo alto, 59. half moon bay. you can see it's wet at the golden gate. the pavement is wet. and i think you can see raindrops falling there. it's been raining there for a few minutes now. we have mid 60s at santa rosa novato, napa, fairfield and livermore. concord, 69 degrees. and one more live view looking across the quiet and so far dry embarcadero. these are our forecast headlines. scattered showers and light rain will continue overnight. pockets of showers and rain. more rain will come tomorrow, probably more widespread. it'll be slippery. a slippery commute in the morning and in the evening tomorrow. and we expect drier days midweek with chilly mornings. now, the storm we're looking at right now on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale is a level one. so for tonight and tomorrow, again, periods of showers and light rain, less than a quarter of an inch of rain in most areas. slippery roads and breezy conditions. and overnight, as we check out the forecast animation, we get a little bit of a break during the late night hours into the early, early
