jose, police officer out of a job after racist text messages surfaced. >> now, the subject of some of those texts want more action taken. >> and a pretty slick start to the workweek. a level one storm could dampen your monday morning. and drew is telling us how long this is going to last. >> good morning to you. it is monday, november sixth. >> yes. so, drew, what's it looking like? >> so this morning we are dealing with that light rain. it's not going to linger all that long. it's just coming in as the morning commute is well underway. so it's creating slick conditions. you can see live doppler seven tracking the rain. it's in the north bay. it's across the city moving into the east bay and the peninsula as this front moves south. so we do bring in the exclusive abc7 storm impact scale. it is a level one light storm. we're tracking this morning with those scattered light showers. your biggest impact is going to be the slick roads creating a slower than normal commute on this monday. here is a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza where there is light rain falling. and here's how the day shapes up. light showers early on are pretty much done by noon.

that's a brighter and drier finish to the day today. that's why let's see how the roads are doing. good morning, jobina. >> good morning, drew. thank you. hi, everyone. so, yes, so slick conditions are, of course, impacting your commutes this morning on the roadways. a live picture right now from the richmond-san rafael bridge where it is damp. and we also are in week five now of this sigalert. we have three westbound lanes on 580 shut down due to a crash that happened five weeks ago. no wide load vehicles allowed there and we have no estimated time as to when those lanes will reopen. at the bay bridge toll plaza. looking live here, metering lights came on at 534. we have a new crash reported westbound on highway four. we'll bring that to you in a few moments. but as far as the dry time, there you can see it has slowed to 22 minutes. tracy to dublin 44 kumasi. >> thanks jobina. a former san jose police officer is now under intense scrutiny after racist text messages were made public. all of it centers around the now former officers shooting of a black man last spring. abc seven news reporter lena howland has more from that victim and a civil rights attorney who is now demanding criminal charges. lena

>> well, officer mark mcnamara resigned from the department after some of these messages surfaced. only in the last week. lawyers are now demanding that this officer be criminally charged with a hate crime and decertified as a police officer around two dozen texts attributed to mcnamara referenced a 2022 incident in which then officer mcnamara shot football player kawann green outside of san jose's la victoria taqueria video showed green had appeared to have broken up a fight inside the restaurant and was backing out of a door holding a gun he had confiscated from one of the suspects in some of the texts, mcnamara said, i'm pretty sure the district attorney would have charged me if i used excessive force. but she didn't because i didn't use excessive force. i'll shoot you, too. mcnamara said of green's legal team. texting they should all be bowing to me and bringing me gifts. otherwise he would have lived a life of poverty and crime in another text writing that he hates black

people. >> california post police officers standards and training bureau need to deal certified mcnamara so that he can never bring his racial animus to bear in the community again. >> i never thought somebody could just have that much hatred in their heart to where they would want to kill me just because of what i look like. >> the shooting sent green, who you just heard from, to the hospital where he faced a long recovery, forced to take a break from his football career at contra costa college, green's attorney says the racist texts are the final insult. mcnamara's lawyer has not publicly commented on these allegations so far. live in san jose, lena howland, abc seven news. >> lena, thank you so much. jury selection begins today in the federal trial for the man charged with attacking speaker emerita nancy pelosi's husband, paul last october. surveillance video showed david depape

breaking into the pelosi home in san francisco, eventually striking paul in the head with a hammer. depape has been federally charged with attempted kidnaping and assault, along with other charges in state court. the state trial date will not be set until after the federal trial finishes. opening statements are expected today or excuse me, thursday. paul pelosi is scheduled to testify in court next monday. >> new numbers show up to 10,000 palestine lions may have been killed in the israel-hamas war. overnight, two more palestinian refugee camps were hit by israeli airstrikes in the central gaza strip. the un now says that half of the hospitals in gaza are, quote, no longer functioning. us secretary of state antony blinken met with palestine authority president mahmoud abbas in a surprise visit to the west bank. the biden administration now says it supports a humanitarian pause but stopped short of calling for a ceasefire.

>> i think everyone would welcome the humanitarian pauses, there's no doubt about that. there are obviously different views, including on the question of the cease fire. but there's no doubt from my conversation sessions with all of our colleagues who are in amman yesterday that everyone would welcome the humanitarian pause. >> israel's prime minister says there will be no cease fire unless all israeli hostages are released. today activists in tacoma, washington, intend to protest a us military supply ship that's bound for israel. >> all this after it was stalled at the port of oakland, loaded with weapons. the vessel called cape orlando was blockaded by protesters on friday. three people climbed and held onto the ladder to keep it from leaving the dock and were later arrested . tacoma activists plan to show their solidarity with that protest. organizers are expecting hundreds of people to attend this afternoon soon. >> the war is prompting a lot of division here in the bay area in san carlos. last night, pro-palestine protesters

his own defense at his civil fraud trial in new york. trump reportedly told advisers he's not concerned about testifying. the new york times says trump has held multiple preparation sessions. the judge already determined trump overstated his net worth by as much as $2.2 billion. but now the new york attorney general is seeking $250 million in damages and wants to prohibit trump from doing business in new york. >> the more that the former president says and goes into, the more record he creates that can be used against him. frankly, in this case and potentially in the other cases that are pending against him. and remember, those other cases are criminal cases. >> trump stormed out of court last month after the judge fined him $15,000 for violating a gag order twice. the case is unfolding with one year to go until election day, according to the new york times poll, trump holds an edge over president biden in four key swing states that includes arizona, georgia, michigan and nevada. but today

it on the wider picture. we'll press in a little bit closer on live doppler seven, we have light rain falling across the east bay this morning. down to street level. we go from richmond to berkeley to oakland. a heavier downpour working to moraga this morning, san leandro seeing some light showers. and this front is also creating some light showers along the peninsula. so san mateo, san carlos, some light rain moving into redwood city. the biggest impact we are seeing is slick roads this morning, some steadier showers from sonoma to napa. that pop of yellow over napa, some heavier rain falling right now on the storm impact scale. it is a level one light storm this morning with those light showers and slick roads. the biggest impact as we go hour by hour on future weather. you can clearly see we're with this wet weather this morning. then it's out of here this afternoon. expect sunshine, drier conditions later on today and temperatures very november like in the 60s gloria. >> all right. thank you so much, drew. well, still ahead, the bay area neighborhoods where people say they are overrun by mice and the warning for neighbors after this hybrid wolf, got loose.

vice premier in san francisco. the meetings will take place on thursday and friday ahead of the beginning of the asia pacific economic cooperation summit, or apec. yellen's office says the two will discuss a wide range of topics, including economic competition, national security and climate change. president biden is set to meet china's president in san francisco next week, less than a week from now.

thousands of people will be in san francisco for the asia pacific economic cooperation summit, known as apec. san francisco's homelessness, drug addiction crisis and shuttering businesses have made headlines around the world, but now local communities are fighting back to show people that the city is vibrant. in chinatown, leaders are stepping up to welcome apec visitors. they are planning several special tours and even an after party for apec attendees. >> we're trying to tell people don't believe everything you hear. come down and visit us and see what we're doing. we are going to show through apec what chinatown is going to be and what it's going to be in the future. >> the chinatown night market on grant avenue will feature two dozen small businesses as it opens this friday, november 10th. that lasts through saturday, the 11th. apec runs the 11th through the seventh 14th, and we know a lot of people will be here for that. a

recent report from the new york times claims that cruise's self-driving cars are not as autonomous as previously thought. the newspaper claims that the cars need human intervention every two and a half to five miles while driving in san francisco. the company came under scrutiny. >> this animal is just scared and on the run. i don't see them even going after cats or certainly anybody's dogs. the average person can't give a wolf dog the enriched and mental and physical stimulation they need and deserve. so they end up getting into trouble. i mean, we've rescued a lot of them at dogwood animal rescue. >> and we will bring you more on this story coming up in just a little bit. >> an alarming new development at golden gate fields. our media partner at the east bay times is reporting another racehorse has died there and that brings the total to 15 horses that have died just this year and seven have died since the end of september. officials say there is no direct link between the

horses, but many are pending an official cause of death. other causes point to a broken leg, bones, gastrointestinal issues or even sudden death. 72 racehorses have now died at california tracks this year. since 1941, golden gate fields has straddled the border of berkeley and albany. it's set to close permanently in june of next year. >> this fall, my horse seem to be taking over parts of the bay area residents in some solano county neighborhoods are seeing the worst of it, according to the chronicle, residents report the influx of mice in the glen cove neighborhood near vallejo and in some parts of benicia. residents posted on nextdoor say that they've seen mice gathering outside their homes. they're seeing mice on streets and sidewalks, even sneaking into their homes. experts warn that the problem could get worse as it gets colder heading into winter. pest control businesses are struggling to keep up with the demand for their services. as in the north bay. >> police want you to keep an

eye out for this wolf dog. it's been seen roaming around over the weekend. it was last seen between santa rosa and sebastopol by the old airfield off of south right road. now, we're told the dog's name is shadow. abc7 spoke with an expert who said wolf, dogs are notoriously flight. instead of fight dogs. she said that they want to avoid interactions with people and other humans. >> this animal is just scared and on the run. i don't see him even going after cats or certainly anybody's dogs. the average person can't give a wolf dog the enrichment and mental and physical stimulation they need and deserve, so they end up getting into trouble. i mean, we've rescued a lot of them at dogwood animal rescue. >> i mean, to say people in other animals, the sebastopol police department says if you do see the wolf dog, don't approach it. just call police. no word yet on how. shadow got loose. >> well, there is a new frustration for a lot of online shoppers accidentally ordering miniature versions of things they want. several people are

scattered light showers, slick roads. the biggest impact with this front, it's the timing as we just have that rain right now falling as the morning commute is underway. you notice the humidity rise over the weekend. it is still humid this morning and we're mild with this front moving through upper 50s to lower 60s as we begin your day. so here's a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. those stormy clouds up above some wet pavement down below. and here's how your day shapes up. we have those light showers throughout the morning around lunchtime. we're pretty much done with the wet weather into the afternoon. the cloud cover breaks down. it is brighter and drier finish to the day. so morning showers to sun feeling a lot more like november today with temperatures in the 60s with that afternoon sunshine breaking out overnight tonight. some cold spots in the north bay in the 40s. we'll watch for some areas of dense fog likely developing in our valleys. first thing tomorrow morning. here's the accuweather seven day forecast next seven days for you showing you those showers to sun today. then it's a nice forecast for the rest of the week. some chilly mornings wednesday and thursday, a slight chance of a shower. friday but looking great for the weekend.

this front out of here. we are brighter, we are drier. and it feels a lot more like november this week. temperatures will go into the mid and upper 60s later on today, kumasi. >> thank you, drew. new this morning, governor newsom has donated to a charleston, south carolina mayoral candidate campaign. according to axios, the governor cut a check for democrat clay middleton ahead of tomorrow's election. in this reportedly part of a bigger effort to increase newsom's national profile before the 2028 presidential election or even 2024. if president biden decides not to run again, it's unclear how much he donated a welcome relief for commuters in the east bay this morning, 680 southbound from dublin to sunol is back open. caltrans finished work on the three mile stretch of the roadway. crews have condensed 40 nights of work into just one week and east bay congresswoman barbara lee is introducing legislation that gives workers a leave of up to 12 weeks for unhealthy air because of wildfires. the bill bill, is called smoke mitigation and occupational ki enhancement act.

underway. here's walnut creek. you can see the rain has reached this part of the east bay. a live look showing drops on the lens. those clouds up above and really will find those showers for the first half of your day. the second half of the day, this storm is over with. it is brighter and drier. later on this afternoon. let's check on traffic with jobina. good morning. >> good morning, jean. thank you. hi, everybody. so we are beginning at the richmond-san rafael bridge. we have a 3.3 mile long backup as you approach the toll plaza here, traveling westbound due to three lanes being blocked. and this is week five of the sigalert in place there. again, no wide load vehicles allowed even though it doesn't look like it. the chp has still not removed their fog advisory for the golden gate bridge. it is very slick, though, especially as you travel in and out of the north bay and then our crashes that we're following this morning westbound four before harbor way speeds down to around nine miles per hour there. we have at least two lanes blocked in that spot. and then our second crash westbound 580 before grant line road, your speeds will be around 21mph. kumasi >> thanks jobina. two crashes are under investigation this morning in the east bay. both of them involved oakland police

officers. the first one happened around 1140 last night on highway 24 near wilder road, just east of the caldecott tunnel. the impact of that crash knocked over a pole. the officer was seen in the back of an ambulance. it's not clear what their condition is this morning. now another crash happened about an hour and a half later at that same location in two cars crashed. one of them ended up on its side after hitting a patrol vehicle that had responded to the first crash. an officer was in that suv when the crash happened. the driver of the other vehicle had to be extricated both of their conditions are not known this morning. calls for hate crime charges against a now former san jose police officer that officer shot a man last year and now we're learning about racist texts that he's accused of sending. the day after the shooting, abc's seven news reporter lena howland live in san jose with reaction from the victim and his civil rights attorneys. lena about two dozen of these texts in question came to light only in the past week

>> 642 this morning live doppler seven is tracking a cold front that's moving into northern california this morning. it is creating light showers across the bay area as the monday morning commute is underway. so here's live doppler seven, we'll press in to some of these showers into the east bay. it's mainly light showers falling around walnut creek, san ramon, orinda, moraga, some light rain falling over oakland right now. we have some showers along the peninsula. redwood city, palo alto, portola valley moving their way into mountain view and sunnyvale over the next couple of hours, we'll find that this line is slowly moving to the east. so we'll time out some of this rain working through the south bay into san jose right around 658 this morning, eyeing the east foothills shortly after 7 a.m. we expect these light showers to begin falling in those areas on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale is a level one storm we have here this morning with slick roads. the biggest impact as we go hour by hour on future weather. we'll have those showers here this morning. this system is pretty much done by lunchtime into the

fees for in-app subscriptions and other purchases in its play store have created an illegal monopoly that is driving up costs for users. epic wants to be able to direct people to other payment services, circumventing google's fees. google argues that the fees are necessary to provide support on its platform. the ceos from google's parent company, alphabet and epic games, are both expected to testify. epic filed a similar lawsuit against apple a couple years ago, and mostly lost. revel is saying goodbye to its electric scooters. and you've probably seen them around san francisco. the transportation company announced it will discontinue its service in san francisco and new york. company executives say that they will be focusing on their electric ride, hailing and electric vehicle charging ventures. they're currently developing large public fast charging networks here in the bay area and also on the east coast. service will stop on

november 18th. tomorrow though, the san jose sharks will try to avoid making history in the worst possible way with a loss at sap center against philadelphia. the sharks would set a record for the longest, losing streak to start a season in nhl history. the sharks have lost their first 11 games of the new season, and things have only gotten worse as the season went on. they've given up 20 goals in the last two games. face off is at 730 on a special night for demar hamlin of the buffalo bills last night. >> he returned to the same stadium where he suffered cardiac arrest on the field ten months ago. the buffalo bills safety took the opportunity last night to honor the medical team that saved his life. hamlin announced he's launching a scholarship program and the program will be called cincinnati heroes scholarship. hamlin says it will award ten $1,000 scholarships to underserved students in the cincinnati area. each scholarship will be named after

morning. and you can see right now that it looks like we are up in the markets. tyson foods is recalling about 30,000 pounds of its dinosaur chicken nuggets. >> the company says it was voluntarily pulling these nuggets off the shelves after people reported finding small pieces of metal inside the patties. according to the usda, the recall is specifically for the 29 ounce bags with frozen. but fully cooked dino shaped nuggets that the package should have a best use by date of september fourth of 2024. that chicken was sold here in california. so make sure you check as well as in four other states. we might soon be seeing people sporting new crocs. this time inspired by mcdonald's. the collection is reportedly dropping this week and this is what the pictures are showing us. oh and they're popping up everywhere. so hype beast posted these pictures of the crocs. they're inspired by the fast food chain and its iconic

put it in the sport sport mode. >> yeah. the thing back on your heel. >> get going. try the heels. yeah you see those heels ones. that's where i draw the line. yeah. maybe not. yeah. we're going to leave those heels for someone. >> good morning. let's go to live doppler seven. it is raining out there in spots. we have a level one storm up above, and we are tracking those light showers for the next couple of hours. here's the loop. you can see that front is essentially on top of us right now. and for the most part, the showers are scattered in light bulb press into a couple of spots. down the street level we go into the north bay where we could see a line of showers stretching from napa into vacaville this morning. that's moving close to fairfield. over the next ten minutes, you can see scattered showers in the east bay, the peninsula moving their way into the south bay right now. and we do have some high elevation snow falling above about 7000ft right now. we do have a winter weather advisory in effect until tomorrow night at 10 p.m. above 7000ft. we're expecting a few inches of snow. so certainly as you go over the passes, it could make for some slick travel. this

we do have a hit and run crash reported right around the toll plaza. those metering lights came on at 534 and traffic is backed up to the foot of the maze. and you can see the traffic traveling towards that direction here in emeryville showing you 8-80 those headlights, traveling in the westbound direction. so not too bad there on 80 highway for a different story though. antioch to concord slow now officially at 32 minutes for that drive time tracy to dublin has remained about the same at 44 minutes and part of that drive time is due to this crash we're following westbound for before harbor street. we still have at least one lane blocked here and your speeds will be down to around ten miles per hour. all right. >> thank you so much. jobina bay area residents pounded the pavement for the annual walk to end alzheimer's fundraiser over the weekend. our friend and colleague reggie helped lead walkers at pier 27 in san francisco on saturday. the alzheimer's association says that more than 2000 people participated. they've helped raise almost 890,000 of a $1.1 million goal since the start of
