have now been closed for more than 24 hours. abc seven news starts now. >> building a better bay area moving forward, finding solutions. this is abc seven news. if we don't get it, if we don't get it, shut it down. >> demands for justice and a threat to try to shut down the apex summit as san francisco has its moment on the world's stage, protests, leaders today stepped into the spotlight. thank you for joining us. i'm j.r. stone. today, people took to the streets of san francisco to protest the asia pacific economic cooperation conference. abc's seven news reporter cornell bernard was there as they rallied, then marched peacefully from the ferry building. redtagged. what do we do? >> thousands of activists on the move up market street toward the apex summit at moscone center, where up my people rise up, rise up. these activists say they are

united in their opposition to the global trade conference that's bringing world leaders to the city from nearly two dozen countries. we are kicking off the people's movement against apex. earlier, a rally on the embarcadero. demonstrators say they are protesting everything from the israel-hamas war to corporate profits and human rights violations. >> is our main thing is we actually just want to shut it down. we want to make sure that the economy is the things that people want are actually voiced by the people themselves and not just these big heads of state that are coming out. >> a but many of these demonstrators say they want a seat at the table when it comes to banning fossil fuels. >> so our message today is that when you have a confluence of world leaders meeting to discuss trade and the future and enshrining a connected clean, green economy that people like the ceo of exxonmobil should not have a platform.

arrives on tuesday. it will rank level one on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale, bringing rainy conditions, but mainly on tuesday and the in the north bay. although some showers may reach their way down to the south bay and other parts of the bay area. so let's move along and take a look at the forecast animation starting at midnight tonight, our 12 a.m. tomorrow. and you'll see clouds increasing tomorrow ahead of the rain. the rain won't arrive, though, until tuesday morning. but when it does, it will arrive forcefully, especially in the north bay, with a few light scattered showers reaching other parts of the bay area. rainfall totals from that first wave will generally be under a 10th of an inch, except in the north bay. but as you can see, wednesday and thursday, we have much more stormy weather coming our way. just about a week's worth of it. i'll give you a closer look a little bit later j.r. spencer thank you so much. >> we've put together a day by day guide to apec. from street closures to official events, you can find everything to know about apec on abc seven news.com. we're updating it as new information is released.

developing news now. there's no estimated time on when a damaged freeway in la will reopen. all lanes of the ten freeway in downtown los angeles are closed after a fire damaged the interstate early yesterday morning. the freeway is a major artery in the city. the governor yesterday declared a state of emergency to help repair the highway as quickly as possible. caltrans officials said they were still assessing the damage and there are major concerns about tomorrow morning's commute being an all out mess. >> 300 plus thousand vehicles go through this corridor every single day. it's of significant concern, sense to the economy, to the health and safety of angelenos. impact to our schools, to vulnerable communities. all of that we take very seriously. >> we the fire started at a storage yard under the freeway.

flames then spread to a second storage yard. eight acres burned. the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. and to the latest now on the war in the mideast. israeli forces are closing in on gaza's hospitals. they say it's a defensive strategy. while israel's prime minister is standing firm on his rejection of a cease fire. unless one condition is met first, we get a full update from abc news reporter patrick reevell in israel. >> israel continuing its onslaught against hamas. the idf releasing a video it says shows tanks firing amid the massive destruction in northern gaza. israeli forces now closing in on gaza's main hospitals, which israel claims hamas hides within for their operations. the world health organization this morning saying it's lost contact with al-shifa hospital, gaza's largest medical complex. doctors there saying around 40 premature or babies in incubators now at

tomorrow. overnight lows will be generally in the mid to upper 40s on the increasingly cloudy skies. there'll be some bright spots in the sky tomorrow, but clouds will be around as well. highs will range from mid 60s around the bay shoreline to mainly mid and upper 60s inland and maybe 1 or 2 locations will top out at 70. so the first wave of stormy weather reaching into the bay area ranks a level one on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale that arrives tuesday with rain mainly in the north bay. drier conditions in the south bay, but some scattered showers may reach other parts of the bay area. forecast animation starting early tomorrow morning. notice how the clouds increase and the rain arrives forcefully on tuesday morning, pushing mainly into the north bay. as i said. but of course, rain may reach other parts of the bay area as well. then we'll get a little bit of a break before the next wave of rain comes in. that first wave will bring rainfall totals generally under a 10th of an inch for most locations outside the north bay. but up in the north bay, it'll be quite a bit wetter and then on wednesday morning, 12:00 am, we start the
