evening's events and get their message heard. >> but we want to begin with abc seven news reporter joe stone live with a watchful eye over tonight's exploratorium gala. jerry >> and it is still a busy night tonight. dan, it took crews a week to prepare the explore atrium for this big event. and now that it's over, i want to show you what it looks like. hundreds of workers are down on the ground and they are basically striking the set, putting everything away. and they're moving pretty quick. but what a night it was. won by one dignitaries from around the world, including indonesian president joko widodo, philippine president bongbong marcos and canadian prime minister justin trudeau, arriving at the official apec reception, president joe biden and first lady jill at san francisco's exploratorium. >> it's a real honor to welcome all my fellow leaders to the united states. >> speakers included vice president kamala harris, california governor gavin newsom

and golden state warriors head coach steve kerr. >> there was a lot of big shots, you know, so it's a lot of big egos, is a lot of big, important people. you know, i'm just i did my thing and i'm moving on. >> so i was not hobnobbing with the bigwigs, but with entertainment like pop star gwen stefani. >> it was about having fun and enjoying the moment. for many in attendance, the this is my own world. >> lots of people who were very excited about the future of san francisco and san francisco is role in kind of in the world economy enjoyable? >> yes. but also very important. we spoke with former senator john kerry, who is the first us special presidential envoy for climate. he says coming together now is more important than ever. >> we have the middle east in flames. you have ukraine, you have the challenge of the climate crisis. yes. and we all need to pull together. there is no way for any one country to

on the job. i'm looking for quite a bit of reaction to that statement during the speech there. >> but again, biden has said he is running in 2024. newsom has said he is not running in that election, but after hearing that, boy, i think the question is may continue to come. reporting live in a very busy san francisco j.r. stone abc7 news speculation will only increase after that. >> interesting comment today. joe, thanks very much. >> outside the exploratorium demonstrators came right up to the front of the security gates to shout their message to the high profile guests inside. >> abc seven news reporter tim johns was there with them tonight to hear those demands and joins us live now from the newsroom with more tim. >> yeah, amanda, while this protest was relatively peaceful, officials from the san francisco emergency operations center did confirm two people were arrested this evening on you save on you. emotions running high wednesday evening as protesters took to the streets of san francisco

once again, we are here to say that we need an immediate cease fire to ensure that no more palestinians are massacred. a group making its way down the embarcadero and towards a heavily guarded exploratory room where inside president biden was speaking at an aipac gala. biden. biden, you can't hide. >> we charge you with genocide. we charge you in genocide. >> flowers some protesters shouted at both police as well as people attending the gala. all of them demanding the president do more to stop the conflict in the middle east. despite demonstrations having gone on for weeks now, several of the protesters out here say this is the most important time for them to make their voices heard due to the leaders gathered in town for the apec summit. we as constituents have power, and right now those in power are not listening to our voices. >> so this is a message to those in power. >> before joining other protesters at the barricades surrounding the exploratorium, another group gathered outside

the ferry building earlier in the afternoon. soon there, they created a memorial out of children's shoes to represent those who have died in gaza. that symbolize really what it means in human terms to lose that many people, and particularly 4500 children. one of those in attendance was tarek raouf, a palestinian american. he tells us several members of his extended family have been killed over the past several weeks for years, i felt like we were kind of screaming into the void and no one was listening, and it felt like the only people that cared or was listening to us were palestinians. with the apec summit ending on friday, protesters say they hope their action can lead to meaningful change. >> but if it's not, we will be back in the streets and the pressure is only going to increase. >> now. protests were also held about other topics as well, both outside the apex ceo summit and outside the chinese consulate. it's also likely there will be more protests in the coming days

in the newsroom. tim johns, abc seven news. >> all right, tim, thank you. a highly anticipated meeting between president biden and china's president xi jinping took place earlier today in woodside at the filoli estate. much as we saw in san francisco, a large group of protesters gathered outside the venue. clearly not all of them shared the same views because we did see a scuffle. the two leaders met for around four hours and afterward, president biden shared details on some new agreement. >> s we are restarting cooperate between the united states and prc on counter-narcotics. more people in the united states between the ages of 18 to 49 die from fentanyl than from guns. car accidents or any other cause period. so today, with this new understanding, we're taking action to significantly reduce the flow of precursor chemicals and pill presses from china to the western hemisphere. >> president biden openly admitted the two don't always see eye to eye, but it is his responsibility to make the best

of the situation. >> we're in a competitive relationship. china and the united states. but my responsibility is to make it make this rational and manageable so it so it doesn't result in conflict. >> this was the first meeting between xi and president biden since last november. and another late headline tonight at his dinner event this evening, xi jinping announced that some pandas could be coming to san francisco or excuse me, could be coming to california's san diego zoo as part of their research and conservation program. this comes a little over a week after some giant pandas were returned by the national zoo in washington, d.c. the san diego zoo returned their pandas to china in 2019. panda diplomacy dates back to the 1970s, when a pair of pandas were gifted by beijing. there are only four pandas left in the us and they are at the atlanta zoo and they are always popular.

>> that's not all that's been happening in the city for apec today. the city was just buzzing with all sorts of events ranging from the protests we talked about to high level conversations. we told you about the biden meeting, but there were others. governor newsom and prime minister justin trudeau of canada got together for a conversation on the sidelines of the summit. their main topic was fighting climate change. first lady jill biden received a showing of support and gratitude while she attended a fundraiser event in atherton. activists create a human chain of roses. thanks the bidens for their ongoing effort to free the israeli hostages held in gaza and in san francisco tonight, some local leaders held gay pack in the castro district celebrating the asian american pacific islander and lgbtq. plus communities. it took place at the bow and featured drag performance and was attended by asian-american leaders. and tomorrow will be another full day of apec events. >> and we aren't done with the rain. >> we are not done with the rain

by any means. let's go to meteorologist sandhya patel for more on that. sandy. >> yes, we still have more wet weather in the forecast. and dan and irma, that means don't put away those umbrellas just yet. let me show you live. doppler seven all has quieted down, but isolated showers remain in the santa cruz mountains. as we get you into street level radar, highway 17 in the summit. highway nine, heading into felton, definitely still some slippery roadways. it's a light level one storm that is still spinning off the coast. lightning is showing up near the area of low pressure and also over the sierra. as we go over the next 24 hours. here's what you can expect tomorrow morning. temperatures in the 50s, a lot of cloud cover, some patchy fog, not out of the question tomorrow afternoon. we are looking at that next round of showers coming through. light to moderate in intensity, scattered for the evening hours and we're not done even into friday. we have some more wet weather in the forecast. so tomorrow, though, the risk of thunderstorms, it is there, but it is low for parts of the bay area. on friday. there's a

abc7 news.com. >> happening tomorrow, it is starbucks red cup day. but this year's event is being met with rebellion. the coffee giant will be giving away free reusable holiday cups with certain orders in one of its biggest promotions of the year. but workers at some starbucks locations are going on a two day strike starting tomorrow. frustrated with staffing and scheduling issues, striking workers call this protest the red cup rebellion. >> tomorrow is one of the most profitable days for starbucks. it's red cup day. it's a crunch day where they give employees a lot of work and very low staffing and give customers only one day to get a coveted cup. >> starbucks say they remain committed to working with all partners, but no meetings between starbucks and its striking employees have been scheduled. >> today marks a very special anniversary for the make-a-wish organization, for san francisco, and for all the people who came

together to do something incredibly heroic. recognize this teenager. what if we take you back ten years? we begin this morning's broadcast with breaking news from san francisco's hall of justice. this ah, i bet you know the name now, batkid, aka miles scott. it has been ten years since his wish transformed san francisco. >> i'm doing amazing. i would love to just say like, yeah, i'm i'm fine now. >> 15 years old, miles plays football and baseball and helps on his family farm in siskiyou county. he's come a long way since battling leukemia as a child. >> i feel normal, but every time i think about it, it's like, wow, that actually happened. that was four years of my life. miles was just five years old when make-a-wish greater bay area granted him his wish to be batman. >> you got football out, batman never really like fades away. >> he's always coming back. he

doesn't have all the superpowers or any super powers, but he's still going out there and saving people. that's what i like about him. he gives people hope without any superpowers. >> it sure felt like the city of san francisco had superpowers on that wish day, as crowds cheered miles on as he fought crime across the city. >> i do remember one part in that whole day going to that burger shop, looking down in the window, and they're all dancing with signs and stuff. i'm standing there by batman. why are they dancing? they're dancing for you, miles. >> wish come true and granting wishes is what make-a-wish does for so many children facing a critical illness that brings them hope. >> you have the wish. you know, you're you're done. you can't stop you anymore. >> you can't stop you. it was an incredible day. and we are so

glad to say miles is cancer free. he's now looking toward his future and says he either wants to be a welder or a hunting guide in alaska. he has family in alaska, so. >> oh, good for him. well, he'll he'll be successful at whatever he does. absolutely can't believe it's been ten years. >> ten. >> that was such a over whelming day. >> the way the city came together. it was beautiful. it was magical. >> it was magical. that's a better word. anyway, good for him. great to see miles doing well. all right, let's talk about the weather. >> yeah, that's right. more rain, sandhya. absolutely >> and ama and dan. i want to show you something else that is so magical. take a look from our zephyr cove camera snow is coming down. this is winter for you. i know this is at the highest elevations at lake level. it is still raining, but at least the snow is coming in. time for thanksgiving thing. so it's a mix of rain and snow on live doppler seven. certainly seeing thunderstorms south of tioga pass travel plans are in the next couple of days. i would definitely plan on carrying chains as the snow levels will go from 8000 to about 7500ft.

right now on live doppler seven, we do have some isolated showers , but really it's just around the santa cruz mountains, boulder creek, ben lomond area, highway nine. over the last 24 hours. here's what we've picked up. 700 in san jose and san francisco, four hundredths in santa rosa, five hundredths of an inch in oakland, concord, six hundredths. you're probably going, but it was pouring at my house. yes, it was coming down this evening in parts of the bay area, but it was brief and that's why you didn't see the accumulations. as we look at the circulation off the coastline here, that area of low pressure, the storm has stalled out, but it will continue to send us more bands of this unsettled weather. and as we look at the lightning strike risk, we do have certainly possibility of lightning. it's a low risk, but it's there for the next couple of days. so keep that in mind. your temperatures right now, 50s and 60s, pretty mild and a beautiful view from our pier 39 camera here in san francisco. scattered showers chance of

thunder tomorrow. unsettled pattern through saturday and dry and milder conditions for sunday through early next week. so for apec, the forecast tomorrow, showers mainly in the afternoon, evening, mid 60s, friday, we have showers. the possibility of thunder on our exclusive abc7 news storm impact scale. it's a level one light to moderate showers. slick roadways. we are looking at that possibility of thunder and it certainly will be breezy at times. so tomorrow afternoon, here comes the first batch of some wet weather. it's going to be light to moderate in intensity in the evening hours. scattered showers will continue and then the next round comes in on friday. this one in the afternoon and evening looks more organized and certainly heavy as we head into saturday morning. and then early saturday afternoon. rainfall projections taking you all the way through saturday, anywhere from a half an inch to just over an inch. wettest spots will pick up up to an inch and a half of rain. your morning temperatures, 40s and 50s cloud cover. watch out. there may be some patchy fog as

the nba suspending greene five games for his role in last night's fight started really early with the warriors and t-wolves. jaden mcdaniels tying up with klay thompson. rudy gobert jumps in. he grabs klay from behind. draymond then puts rudy in a headlock. klay drained mcdaniels were all ejected today, fined $25,000 apiece. gobert clearly not a fan of draymond's. they have history and he thought greene wanted to get suspended reaction from steve kerr if you watch the replay rudy had his hands on
