in san francisco was moved and many did get shelter. just weeks before apec. it's not hard to notice a change. the san francisco standard captured this encampment on van ness avenue and eddy street two months ago this week, a completely different look. planter boxes now on the sidewalk like this a mile from apec, mena street, between seventh and julia streets with multiple tents. two months ago this week cleared less than a mile from apec. all this leading to the question where did san francisco's homeless population go? we found many of them on willow street. where were you before being here on willow harrison and fifth street down the way. >> a bit before apec, cody had set camp two blocks from moscone center for the last week. >> us secret service has been restricting access to a 12 square block radius in the soma neighborhood for the summit. cody said city workers showed up and offered him shelter. he took

it. so did the city move you? >> yeah, pretty much. you know what i mean? they tell you they'll block off certain streets and stuff and tell you to keep going. >> saint anthony's has been keeping track of the need for shelter in the tenderloin. it has seen an uptick this week, a month ahead of apec. what did you guys notice? >> approximately about a month before apec began there was an intentional engagement with the city and homeless people experiencing homelessness in south of market. >> in a statement, san francisco department of homelessness acknowledged that when events like apec take place, efforts change, saying, quote, we want to put our best foot forward. dedicated outreach efforts will be focused on the conference vicinity and offering safe places for people experiencing homelessness will be priority three. >> many of the folks who are who are staying south of market on the street have been asked to relocate and many of those people who were asked to relocate were offered shelter. >> businesses in the tenderloin

are glad more homeless individuals are now in shelters but are concerned of what will happen once apec is over. so you're going to keep pushing for this? >> we're definitely going to keep pushing. we're all the constituents, the property owners, the businesses we are the mayor's constituents. we are the city of san francisco and they need to listen to us. >> and san francisco's homeless department said that even though there was no special shelter capacity for apec, the city did open winter shelter on the same day apec's started in san francisco, adding about 300 beds to the shelter system of our city. ama >> dan all right, thank you so much, louis. and today, president biden wrapped up the apec conference by meeting with mexican president andres manuel lopez obrador. the leaders discussed two critical topics impacting both countries migration and fentanyl. lopez obrador was also hoping to use this meeting to urge the us to resume talks with cuba and end us sanctions, bay bridge lanes and ramps that are closed because of the apec summit are

set to reopen tonight at 9:00 pm. >> now that it's over, one lane in each direction has been closed since tuesday in addition, the fifth street and fourth street off ramps of interstate 80 will reopen despite fears of big traffic jams due to the closures. we've had no reports of major impacts on the commute, with the exception, of course, of that huge protest that shut down the bridge for several hours. but in terms of the day to day restructuring of the traffic flow, no real problems at all. the end of the apec summit, coupled with the thanksgiving holiday, is likely to affect travel starting tonight and through the weekend. the final day of the conference, along with ongoing protests, led to some early arrivals at san francisco international airport this morning, travel experts say today is the busiest day for thanksgiving. air travel. some visitors flying into oakland say their holiday is off to a smooth start. oh yeah, it was pretty smooth. >> you know, got the luggage? it's a lot. it's not as congested as in chicago. so it was pretty get in and get out.

where we are seeing some moderate to heavy rain. scotts valley and the santa cruz mountains also right around the pescadero area, street level. radar pescadero creek road from the south bay in san jose to santa clara redwood city, we are seeing some steady rain. and from tiburon heading into el sobrante, berkeley north san pedro road, san francisco, we are seeing some pretty good rain across parts of the peninsula. half an inch per hour is basically radar based rainfall. thunderstorms have fired up as this area of low pressure is moving closer to us. and you can see that the rainfall intensity is starting to spread across the region. we've had some thunderstorms that threat remains in the forecast for much of california, not only tonight but tomorrow as well. your temperatures right now in the 50s, 60s, it was a mild afternoon for many of you today. in the mid 60s to mid 70s with the south wind. here's a live view from our sutro tower camera. and it is a little
